AREA WIDE NOTICE: Lake Lure will undergo a drawdown from January 1st, 2025, through the first quarter of 2025(March 31st). The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day until 12 feet have been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging, and dam projects will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage. For more information, click here. The lake will likely be back up to normal levels by mid to late April. While we understand this is an inconvenience, this does allow you to enjoy the full beauty of Lake Lure in the fall and holiday season. This will not affect the smaller lakes in the area, only Lake Lure itself.
Smoking is prohibited in all of our vacation rental homes.
Dogs (up to 2) are welcome in this home. Guests are required to clean up after their pets to avoid additional charges.
Parking for multiple vehicles at the home, but only two (2) vehicles are allowed inside the gated portion of Riverbend at Lake Lure.
Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. local time or anytime later.
Check-out time is 10:00 a.m. local time or anytime earlier.
NOTICE: CANOE is temporarily stored at the cabin instead of being next to the lake. The community has required us to move them to the homes until they have built a new location for storage down by the lake.
Note: Cancellation policies may vary on various marketing sites, but it is ALWAYS most affordable to book directly with us at Carolina Properties. Booking direct also enables a guest loyalty discount, available across our many properties upon your second stay.

upon arrival many things we not right with our property and after a 12 hour ride, was feeling discouraged that we hadn’t choose the right house for our family vacation. As the night and the week progressed just more things were added to the list that’s not right. First being the pictures of the house? They are not up to date. The garage that they have in the pictures as we got there, it wasn’t usable and looks like it’s been that way for 20 years. and it was one of the big reasons why we chose this house for our motorcycles to store. There were more electric outlets in the home that DIDNT work then DID. I love that we were right on the river but the trees were so overgrown on the one deck that it made the deck so slick and unusable our stay. Also there had been an entrance into the river looked like it had been washed out and instead of fixing it had things to block it. (It also doesn’t look like it just happened. Plus many more issues. I did reach out to the property management and gave them the long list, they did give us a small compensation for the issues. But honestly if they had someone ACTUALLY Taking care of the property (this is out of a cleaners depth) they wouldn’t have too. this house would be beautiful! We stay in many rentals and we know outdated and can accept that but this isn’t outdated this is a property that is just completely neglected from the inside out and needs some major maintenance.

We were so excited for this trip and were disappointed immediately. The house was not ready in time and when we did get into the house, it was not cleaned properly. The doors and light switches were covered in dirt, several sheets were noticeably dirty. There were several wet spots on the carpet, one of the bathrooms was unusable because the bathmat smelled so bad of cat The entire room smell smelled. Towels were also dirty. Had a glob of toothpaste with a hair in it. We were not left with any essentials except for an empty bottle of dish soap and one unwrapped soap. The property management came over and took pictures of some things and assured me we would at the very least be getting a refund of our cleaning deposit. To date, we have not received any refund and correspondence has gone unanswered. The setting is beautiful and we had such high hopes for our stay.

We rented this house for my 50th birthday along with two other families. The house is older, but its uniqueness and location more than make up for it. We had an amazing time. I would definitely recommend.

The house is large, comfortable, and almost overhanging a beautiful rushing creek. We could have sat by or in the water the whole week, but there's also a lot to do and explore in the Lake Lure area.

Overall, the house and location were great and I would book again. Booked for a family Christmas vacation and was disappointed that the owners didn’t decorate for the holidays. We went to the store and decorated ourselves. Only had one issue with the fireplace but the communication was great and they had someone there to check it quickly.

Enjoyed our stay, property was comfortable and accommodating. Adequate space for ten adults to enjoy one another and still have privacy! Loved the second family room! Saved us girls from having to endure football all day Saturday!

As always we had a great vacation.
Couldn’t beat this beautiful location. The tubes were blown up and perfect for tubing from property. House is old and quirky but fine with us.
Our only complaint was pet urine smell in one bedroom and really bad off little deck.
Other then that, all tvs worked and appliances. No other complaints.

River Rest
Great little place for our family "retreat". The spot on the river was great for just watching the river and wildlife, little fishing, river wading/swimming, tubing and kayaking. The partnership with community is excellent. Tube down the horseshoe in river to "Ye old swimming hole" and the lake was right above. Perfect for kayaking and swimming. We were really impressed with the canoe provided but did not utilize it. So many places for hikes and other activities! Several big tables where our families played games every night. The house is charming and was an excellent venue for our family.
**previous guests must have brought pets and left on porch of kitchen/bedroom. The deck smelled strongly of dog urine. I reached out to property manager couple times but did not get response during vacation. The number of towels was very limited. But it was not terrible because we had brought our own.
Overall this was an excellent little house, excellent location, and generally well cared for. We enjoyed our stay very much. We would stay again without hesitation. We would recommend. Thank you River's Rest for a great week packed with fun for our families.

Great location
The location, nearby river rapids is beautiful. The fire pit is in a great spot right along side the river. It could use closer attention to provisioning. There were only 5 trash bags provided and we had to buy more and only 5 dishwasher detergent pods which was just enough. A lack of glassware required that we run the dishwasher after every meal. The second floor shower had a slow drain. A great spot that needs a little more TLC.

Pictures do not represent the property.
First of all inspite of all that I will relay, my brother, sisters and their spouses and I had a fantastic time being with each other. The yard was not mowed so no pleasure outside. The front deck had dead leaves and debris on it. The code to unlock the door worked like it should. I got there first and checked out the house and the inside was cleaned and presentable. Once every one arrived they picked out their room and we proceeded to make arrangements for our evening repast. When everyone got ready to retire we realized that the upper rooms were hot and lights would not turn on or outlets wouldn't work. We purchased an extension cord and oscillating fan so they could circulate hot air. The next morning I called the property manager and they sent someone over who informed us we must have gremlins. This guy is telling this to adults over 50 plus. He got the outlets working but said he would need to get the ac serviceman out to work on the unit. If he couldn't he would make sure we had at least a window unit for the evening. In the meantime he wanted us to lower the first floor ac units so it would cool the upper level. So freeze out the areas we were socializing in. He never called us back with an update and did not bring an ac unit. We made do by duck taping screens that did not fit in the window so we could get fresh air in the upper levels. Then we loaded the dishwasher and thinking we had set it to run only to find out in the morning that it never ran. Dishes were still dirty and the detergent was still in the activation area. So we tried it again. No luck in getting it to run. OK wash dishes. I am not this critical but when you pay this kind of money and 6 months in advance for family members you haven't seen in over 3 years and coming from many states away North and South and East, you expect to have a stress free experience. The pictures must be from when they first started renting and nothing like what you get.
We will have another sibling reunion next year but it won't be with this rental or these property managers. I was very disappointed and embarrassed for my siblings whom I was treating to this outing. Keep looking.

We enjoyed the relaxing sound of the water and the activities surrounding the area. Looking forward to coming back.

Beautiful property
Overall, beautiful property for a rental. The house itself is showing its age and erosion, with outdated furniture and a sagging foundation. However, it was the perfect rental for my family over Christmas. 4 couples, one single adult and 2 kids all got their own space and the backyard and surrounding neighborhood were awesome! Definitely not enough dishes, and there was very little soap/detergent so we brought our own. A few rooms have double beds which were difficult for some couples, but we made it work. Plenty of kitchen and lounging space in the house and outside. Loved our experience!

Perfect For A Large Family
The location was perfect for site seeing. Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Village were enjoyable. The house was very roomy but could use some attention. The cleaning service missed a few key areas but nothing to be overly critical.
Overall, this house was perfect for our large family.

Wonderful riverfront location- rushing water so peaceful
Wonderful riverfront location- rushing water is peaceful, great hammock on river bank, large decks to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. Right off busy road, but when on river side, hear little except occasional loud motorcycle. Home is dated, not a lot of cabinets in kitchen for groceries, some wear and tear visible, but location makes up for those minor things. Trash disposal is close and convenient. Wonderful fire ring on property overlooking river. Canoe is located on small lake nearby, easily accessible by car. There are floats for river and life jackets and paddles for canoe if want to use. We enjoyed our stay with only a couple of minor issues. Bring your own metal coat hangers for smores. Would rent again.

so disappointed
Not sure where to start. It almost feels like the property owner is waiting for the home to collapse to collect the insurance. Holes above windows where curtain brackets should be. Holes in hollow doors. Sleeps 12 but only has 8 drinking glasses had to buy plastic cups. Stove top heating elements smoked first time use from not being cleaned properly. Well water had overwhelming sulfur smell in master bath. no night nights for bathrooms. Hard to navigate at night. What REALLY concerned me were clumps of long black hair in the master bath. We both have short gray hair. Yuk. Also, dust and dirt gathered between the night stand and wall in master bedroom. Maids don't check the floors? Obvious bad paint jobs on doors and overhead light fixtures. My goodness, I know it was a great price but even if the home is dated it could have at least been well maintained. Retaining wall to protect the property from the river rising has collapsed.

Lovley Vacation Home
This home was perfect for our family vacation. Thr home had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked with all of our cooking needs. Our absolute favorite part was the location on the water and the children being able to play in the water. Would recommend!

Great family vacation!
This place is a nice cabin right on the river with lots of outdoor activities near by. It's an older house with minimal updates, but it makes up for it with the views and proximity to the water. My family and I had a great time tubing in the river and it's super nice that some tubes are provided. I recommend this place and will absolutely consider coming back.

Refreshing
This property was a great getaway. It was worth my friends and family's time. I actually have other family members that want me to rent it again in the future. The river was the best view ever. We got rained on Saturday but we were still able to enjoy such a view. The water is also beautiful.

Restful stay
We had a very restful 2 night stay at this location. The home is exactly as advertised and a picture perfect location. Plenty of room for our group and enjoyed eating breakfast overlooking the river each morning. Very close to the chimney rock village and local restaurants. Our boys enjoyed the canoeing over at Riverbend next door. . Can’t wait to go again!

Rest at the River Rest
Beautiful property next to the river. The layout was perfect for accommodating adults and children. The gas fireplace was great for ambiance as well as light when the power had gone out the first night we were there--not because of the property itself, rather a large section of Lake Lure lost power briefly. What really stood out was the customer service of Carolina Properties. They kept me informed both of the status of the power situation and the steps they were taking via text. Great communication before, during, and after our stay.

Weekend getaway
We had a great weekend! This house was awesome! The master bathroom has an old tub which was my only negative. Everyone had their own room so It was plenty large enough for my husband and I, our three children and their significant others. It was a perfect place to continue to social distance and yet be together as a family. I would love to go back in the summer and enjoy the River.

Relaxing home, natural beauty
Everyone in our family group enjoyed this property, including the four-legged guests. The decks overlooking the river, the views through the A-frame windows from the living room and the lofts, the woods around the house and along the river...all excellent. The bonfire pit, outdoor grill, and large gas fireplace in the living room were a hit, as well. I really like the house, as well, and would like to see some updates in a few of the bedrooms and some very minor repairs that could make this place a 5-star rental experience for years to come. Also, being pet-friendly is a huge bonus for many families for sure.

Location Location
Located directly on the river. Spacious living area with 2 childproof decks. Loved it and would stay again. That being said it is an older home that’s shows it’s age cosmetically. Realistically this is a 4 bedroom home. Neither the loft nor upper room have doors, closets or access to bathrooms. They would be great for older children and teens but not adults.

Very peaceful. Loved sitting out on deck, listening to water going over rocks. Everyone loved going down the rapids. Was great that they were accessible right on property.

Can’t beat the river water noise.
Loved the location of this home, part of river bend but not having to pass the guard station, but able to use amenities. This is an older home, so some works, like bedroom fan light wouldn’t go off so we had to unscrew hot bulbs.... or bathroom drainage problems, but nothing terrible.
Loved decks and all the TVs.
Great rental.
