The first day we came we took pictures of everything. It was very dirty without pistachios leave out fireworks the hot tub was broke you didn't even get to use that they also have rats. Did you didn't hear them running around at night and then if you look inside the drawers then made nest in some more it was a very bad experience ruined my birthday trip. The girl don't work also and no AC in the living room.

Well when we arrived it was very dirty and then our last night we found rats and rat poop when we came back from our day out all over a blankets it was ridiculous the hot tub we didn't even get to use because it was broken and we didn't want to get charged $500 for it already being broken I had to send pictures of that overall my birthday trip was kind of ruined because of this.

Everything was exactly as expected. I think the drive up has been exaggerated on reviews, it was mostly paved and although steep(mountain road) it was easy to traverse. House does not have internet service, which is wonderful when trying to enjoy time together, very little distractions. Overall would definitely do again.

We arrived on 12/29/22 thinking that our weekend with our daughter and grandkids would be great…that quickly changed. According to our contract “check-out” instructions the kitchen must be cleaned, no dishes in dishwasher… the dishwasher was still hot and full of dishes. Also, the water had been turned off one of the toilets downstairs, no one had left a note or called to tell us that it was leaking, so we turned it on to use it. A little while later we had to clean up the water on the floor. Once we turned it off again, it started to leak anyway.
We removed the cover on the hot tub, the water was disgusting, skin particles or whatever else was all in the water. Three of us took showers that night the tubs began to gurgle.
12/30/22 my grandson got up and took a shower first thing and sewage started backing up in the other tub. At 9:00 am we called the Realty office and left a message. 1.30 hours later, we called again and spoke to a manager and explained what was going on. We were told the problem would be fixed to go and enjoy our day. At 4:30 pm we called to see if the problem had been fixed, left message and no one ever called. At 7:45 pm when we arrived back, we could tell that someone had been there but only rinsed the tubs out. My daughter and I used dish detergent (that I brought) and cleaned the tubs. My husband took a shower and while he was in there it started backing up again.
Also, there is very little cell service here and according to the Yellow Rose contract, there was a home telephone to make local calls that none of us saw anywhere.
Our stay was supposed to be from Thursday – Sunday, at 8:00 pm on Friday, we left the place cleaner than we found it, other than the tubs or toilets and drove into Cherokee and rented 2 hotel rooms for the night and came home on Saturday.
We called Yellow Rose on Saturday while we were driving home, and no one ever answered. On Monday, 1/2/2023 we called again and finally spoke to someone that told us that the water lines had been frozen in the house prior to our arrival and that more than likely the sewage lines were frozen as well.
I believe that Yellow Rose Realty should have given the us a courtesy call, in advance so that we could have found other accommodations for the weekend. Yes, they did refund us a partial payment, but we weren't even there for 24-hours before we had to find a hotel.

We left after the first night and moved for the rest of our stay. This home is at the top of the mountain, the road up is sketchy, the home is in need of updating and a through cleaning.

It was the worse. Trying to get up the mountain was a nightmare. The house was extremely outdated. Air-conditioner you could see out side bugs coming in. It wS a true living nightmare.

The house is older and needs some upgrades but it was very clean and had everything we needed. The drive way is a nightmare. No phone in the house and no cell or Internet service. The view from the deck was beautiful. Had a great time

Location was great! Privacy and beautiful views. It is a bit far from Cherokee and Bryson City not a place you want to use as a launch point like we did for sure. The ONLY thing clean in this house was the bed linens thank God! Beds slept great, sheets appeared new. Bathroom towels appeared new. Tub and toilet clean. Carpets are stained and the other floors so dirty we were afraid to even let our kids walk barefoot inside. The house is very musty smelling we had to go buy air freshener. Sliding glass doors on one bedroom won't open to the deck at all. The one in the living room is very hard to open and shut. The glass on them is in terrible shape you can't even see through them. Inches of dust on everything! Looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time! The grill on the porch, the entire bottom is rusted out and unusable unless you plan to start a forest fire. Hot tub was nice but if your allergic to bees stay far far away. The back porch is covered in them, pretty positive there is a big nest up under the hot tub. The deck needs to be replaced looks like it's starting to rot and slant like it ready to fall. The driveway up is long, steep and sharp turns however we had no issues taking it slow in our truck. No 4 wheel drive needed. We simply will NOT stay here again because of the uncleanliness! We literally had to go buy cleaning supplies and clean before we were comfortable.

Need better cleaning people you don’t leave food in the trash cans and when other residents leave things behind like trash you need to clean it up other than that it was a very pleasant stay most likely we will be back Thank you

Mountain top
This property had beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. I was able to make it up the driveway with my VW Jetta with little issues. The layout in the cabin was great for our family and friends. The kids enjoyed the bedrooms upstairs while the adults had plenty of privacy with the bedrooms downstairs. Kitchen was spacious. This cabin was exactly what we were looking for and was much more peaceful then our stay on the north side of the park in Gatlinburg.

Overall the house was the perfect size for our family of 10. The views were beautiful and relaxing. The house was clean and adequately supplied with bathroom linens and kitchen needs. The small A/C units in each bedroom are not adequate on warmer days. There are a few outside issues that need to be taken care of before someone gets hurt. The step railing on the back porch needs to be replaced, and the flooring under the hot tub needs to be replaced and reinforced from under the deck; very dangerous if left unattended. You need to be adventurous concerning the driveway. I knew the ad said it was steep, but understated. My sister who is usually a daredevil, was actually uneasy driving up and down. VERY steep and narrow. We made it fine, but a large vehicle will have problems maneuvering up & down.

Relaxing stay in a beautiful setting!
We really loved our time at the Mountain Top House! It was more than what we expected! It was large enough to accommodate our large group! The driveway is a little hard to find. However, we did not find it as scary as some of the other reviews. My only complaint would be that there is no house phone and service is not good at all. We would definitely stay here again!

Crazy steep
I definitely recommend if your staying here you show up during the day or you won't find the driveway and it is close to impossible to turn around if you've gone to far. The driveway is crazy steep, don't do it if your breaks aren't good. There is no cable or house phone or cell signal. The Hot Tub was nice.

Get away for my boyfriend 50th birthday
The property was exactly up on a mountain top the view was beautiful. The hot tub works and it was very hot. The problems I had was no signal at all which was expected to relax and get away. Although the cleanliness was ok it was infested with ladybugs. I mean ladybugs in the corner of the ceiling. Ladybugs on top of old dead ladybugs. It was in every room all over the ceiling and corner of each rooms. To be honest I thought it was bedbugs because of how bad it was infested it was. Yes they are harmless but grouse. And to be charge for housekeeping knowing someone had to seen how bad it was.

Very disappointed in the location. Rental property manager should have listed in more detail the location andthe very remote location due to the road conditions getting to this property. Property manager obviously did not go on site prior to arrival because they would have seen all the issue we seen when walking in the door. Again very disappointed.

Some repairs as mentioned from others the sliding glass doors are a detractor, what ever is on the one closest to the hot tub the view is clouded from the chlorine?? I guess cleaning crew could put a little more elbow grease as we did some cleaning when we arrived. The dining room table had food crumbs and something sticky on the coffee table and Inscense were used by them we guessed as there were a few sticks found around the house. Everything worked fine, washer dryer, dishwasher, fireplace. We had some chilly night and loved it, the house was very comfortable and not drafty at all. I would use this cabin again for future get aways now that we know what to look for to find the driveway, LOL. NO WOODEN BRIDGE to look for to turn into and go up the drive!! Once we knew what to look for no problem. It was always an adventure driving in and out!! We didn't attempt it at night! Dusk was good for us but we wanted plenty of hot tub, star gazing time! The beds were very comfortable we all commented on how well we slept and enjoyed hearing the crickets through the night. A fire pit would be cool but the location and some may not have skills to handle keeping a fire contained i can understand why not built on property.But a gas fire pit would be sweet on the big back deck!!

Quick getaway
We stayed for 2 nights and had a great time. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Love the colored lights in the hot tub! The driveway is steep but you have to expect that for a mountain-top house. Night lights in every bathroom was a great touch!

Great Views, Creepy Property Managers
We left the property on our first day for some tubing and came back to discover someone had been in the house while we were gone. They had removed the trash but as far as I could tell hadn't done anything else. I called the PM company to see what was going on and she said yeah that was the trash service(no where on any check in material did it say there was a trash service, actually the opposite- it says they would charge us if any trash was left and offered instructions on where to dump). She "assured" me that no one would have taken anything and was fairly rude and dismissive as to why this would be an issue. I got the feeling like they were trying to check on us to see if we had a pet or something, I have no idea, but it was weird. I would steer clear of Yellow Rose, they seem like a pretty poorly run operation... Hate to leave bad reviews but that was a real problem for our family.

This view is beautiful. It is worth the sliding glass doors not working and the long, tedious driveway. The hot tub did stop working in the middle of our stay and we tried to call someone up there for some other issues that were never followed up on, but that’s more of a management and location issue. The house itself is perfect for a large family or group of friends. The view at sunset and the stars truly made us cry. The house was also overall very clean aside from being outdated. But hey, you’re in the mountains!

Whittier
The location is amazing. However the only ac is in the bedrooms. 1 night it was 85 inside. The door handle broke and there were so many wasp on the back deck we were only able to use the hot tub once or twice because of this reason. We did call the reality company and nothing was done to fix these issues at all. If the company would put a little money into this place it could really be a 5 star house.

Great getaway spot even during the Covid crisis. The home is described correctly in the description I believe. We stayed during the last week of June. Window ac units in every bedroom, which was amazing for everyone. Ceiling fans in living room and dining room. Management seemed to act quickly after we told them the hot tub was not heating. The very afternoon the property manager was there and fixed the issue within a couple of hours and we had no more issues with it. He also had mentioned that they were planning on replacing the sliding glass doors asap. There are only two things that I would recommend to the owner to replace the grill and get a cover for it because this one is very much rotting away. I had to do quite a bit of cleaning, brushing, and scrapping to feel comfortable cooking and eating off of it. The other thing is get a fire pit or ring to enjoy while vacationing, because I'm going to be honest the things I look for when I'm looking for a home in the mountains are hot tub, view and or on some sort of body of water, and fire pit. Honestly, I could care less about a grill, because I like to cook over a fire. However, I very much enjoyed my stay, and I would definitely stay here again. We only ate out one time while staying, but I would definitely recommend Waynesville Pizza Company. It is not super close, however, we got it to go after picking up groceries for the week. We had a Supreme, a Buffalo chicken, and wings. If you go you might want to ask for some extra Buffalo sauce. One last thing I forgot to add. There are only a couple of spots that you can get service, which is awesome if you want to disconnect for a while, but I would suggest putting in a phone people could use in case of emergency. If I did not say it before, this house is quite secluded and has an amazing view. 5 Stars for the view.

We had a great time at Mountain Top Haven. It is very large and able to accomodate large groups. Love the front deck and the peacefulness of being secluded! This is an older house and needs a lot of maintenance. The closet doors are not on the track, the air conditioners are old and make extra noise, the pegs that hold the shelves in the cupboards come out and the shelves fall, the screen for the porch door is loose and unattached, the slider doors are hard to open and close, the handle for the slider door in the living room the screws are loose and falling out, the deck in the back is sloped indicating it is sinking, the grill is old/rusted and falling apart and unable to be moved (there is nowhere to put the ashes), the pull out beds for the couch did not have clean linens, the carpet is stained and looks dirty, the top of the dryer is dirty, the fridge freezes food, where is the firepit?, and there is no Trash Bin for trash and it had to be taken to the Yellow Rose location in Bryson City. I recommend updating the directions sent in the email from Yellow Rose as there is no longer a wooden bridge to mark the driveway and the William Thomas sign is unreadable. Also you should note to guests that the driveway is uphill, a very steep hill. More pictures of the house and a detailed description of the layout would be helpful as well to give guest a more accurate picture of where people will sleep when accommodating for a large group.

Let me start by saying that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I saw the reviews about the road and I didn't find the road that bad (scary). The problem is that its very slippery when its wet. We did slide into the ditch and have to get pulled out. The car was at a complete stop and it just slide into the bank. The property is dated and there were problems with a few things, the hot tub didn't work, the coffee pot broke but the rental manager fixed things quickly. Honestly we didn't go to the property for the decor went went for the view and time together. That being said there are quite a few things that are in need of repair. Broken door, rickety chairs, broken knobs on showers, but nothing that stopped us from having a good time.

We had a nice stay at the house. We came up for our daughters college family weekend. We had an issue with the hot tub not working but the realty company refunded us part of the money because that was the main reason we picked that house. Overall very nice house with gorgeous view. The driveway is not for the faint of heart but beautiful once you reached the top. Might need a little more detailed directions to find the driveway. We went way past it because the directions were meant to be used during the daylight. Would suggest a large sign or something to show you that you were there. Overall great house.

Extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of this home. Mold in the ice maker, mice traps everywhere and mice droppings in drawers and even on the bedsheets. Lights burned out in both full baths. Dishwasher did not clean dishes. The drive up is not for the weak hearted. Beautiful view and hot tub was nice. Very roomy home but definitely needs updated. Couches were worn out and you sit very low to the ground. Hard for older people to get up.

Overall it was a great experience. Peace and quiet with a great View. Hot tub was a real Plus. The management company went out of their way to buy a new cornhole game and bring it to us because the old one was damaged. I was very impressed with them.
