About this house rental
Duck Forever
Vacation in a fully renovated cedar shake home , just a stone's throw from the Atlantic Ocean in the Sanderling section of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Draped by age-old live oaks, this beautifully crafted 2,600 square foot vaulted ceiling house offers two master bedrooms with king beds on the main floor, each with their own full bath. Above, there is a queen bedroom and bunk room with four twins, which share a Jack and Jill bathroom. All bedrooms have flat screen televisions. The beautifully appointed bedrooms are accompanied by a great room with a fireplace, flatscreen television. large dining bar and new dining table for 10, kitchen with Bosch dual-fuel range, double door refrigerator with ample freezer drawer, and a fully equipped gourmet kitchen. On the Albermarle Sound side of the great room is a comfy living room with a flatscreen television and on the ocean side is a bright reading room set apart by solid fir pocket doors for quietude or an afternoon nap. The house has WiFi and toll-free long distance telephones in case cell service is low.
Our neighborhood, Sanderling, features a new pool on the Soundside along with tennis courts and a boat ramp. The Sanderling Inn, across the street, has an outside bar, nightly fire pit with local musicians, and two of the area's finest dining establishments...the Life Saving Station and Kimball' Kitchen. A terrific spa is also available.
Nature is one of the many highlights of the Outer Banks. Most any night there are deer, fox, and bunnies roaming the neighborhood. During the day, dolphins feed on the shoals and entertain beach goers...no binoculars needed. A 400-year-old herd of Spanish mustangs roams the dunes about ten miles north of our home. Several companies offer excursions to see the herd or you can take your own four-wheel-drive vehicle onto the beach to try to find the ponies on your own.
Local seafood is abundant. For cooking at home there is no better place to purchase fish than Carawan's on the 158 Bypass. This longtime purveyor features locally caught tuna, snapper, grouper, Mahi Mahi, shrimp, blue crabs, mussels and much more. Go to Maine if you want lobster.
For dining out, there are many choices. The Paper Canoe is walking distance and showcases the spectacular sunsets over the Albemarle Sound. In the town of Duck, there are Red Sky, Roadside Grill, Cravings, and Blue Point restaurants. For casual meals in Duck, the Duck Deli is your best bet. A short drive south to the beach road there is the Rundown Cafe. Anything but rundown, this gem features creative fare including Mahi Mahi burritos. Another southwestern flavored restaurant is the Bad Bean on the 158 Bypass. The smoked beef brisket tacos and burritos are scrumptious.
History lovers get ready for some treats. A short drive south of our house is the site of the Wright Brother's inaugural flight. The museum and outdoor attractions there are a National Park. Further south in Manteo is Fort Raleigh. This is where Sir Walter Raleigh founded the Lost Colony. The gardens and fort are definitely worth a stroll and the outdoor drama depicting the colony's settlement and mysterious demise is terrific for all ages.
Lighthouse fans will find four exceptional examples on the Outer Banks. The closest to Sanderling is the Currituck Light, which is about eight miles north of Duck Forever. This is a beautifully maintained light that can be climbed to reveal spectacular views. Also within a day trip adventure are Bodie Island, Cape Hatteras, and Ocracoke Island Lighthouses. The first two are open for climbing.
Water sports are very popular in the Outer Banks. Just across the main road there is a local company that will set you up with jet skis, parasailing, kayaks, paddle boards, and the like. Or bring your own kite board for fast runs on the Atlantic.
Golf courses abound in our area. We most highly recommend Nags Head Links, which is about a 30-minute drive south. Leave your driver in the bag. This is a tight course that runs along the sound. If you miss the fairways, you'll likely be using a different ball for your next shot.
Golfers, take advantage of our membership at Kilmarlic Golf Club, discounted tee times and free shuttle to and from course!!! Visit the following site for tour of course: http://kilmarlicgolfclub.com/golf/course-tour/
Shore, pier or deep sea fishing are very popular in the area. There are multiple companies that will set you up, but our favorite is Bob's Bait and Tackle in the center of Duck.
So whether it's peace and quiet you seek on a private beach, a family-friendly neighborhood without traffic, or some of the nation's most popular historic sites, Duck Forever is the best value and newest property in the neighborhood. We are already booking for 2021.
Duck Fore Ever News!
Our returning guests will notice lots of wonderful additions to our home. There’s a beautiful new, and bigger, dining set. It seats ten, so your whole crew can chow down together. You’ll also find new “beachy” porcelain dishes, glassware, utensils, flatware, cutting boards, and frying pans. There are several new area rugs throughout the house to make the entryway, master bedroom and hallways more decorative and welcoming. The entire house is now outfitted with plush bright white bath and hand towels. The bedrooms have been supplied with upgraded pillows as well. Because you have been such a pleasure for us to have in our home, we wanted to thank you with more creature comforts to make your stay even more enjoyable. Welcome!

This house is amazing. Close walk to the beach, very updated & clean and a very responsive/helpful owner.

The property was very well maintained with ample living space for multiple families. It was nestled between the trees with a spacious deck and a very, very quick walk to the private beach. And a ride to Duck shopping.

We booked the home for a family trip that included 2 small children and 5 adults. The property was very much as described. Wonderful home very near the beach in a quiet area that really could make you forget just how close you were to the busier tourist area and all the amenities that go with it. The hosts were great! Provided an interesting history of the area along many tips on places to eat and things to do that truly helped us make the most of our stay.

Our family stayed here and we had a wonderful experience. The house met all our expectations -- exceptionally clean and comfortable. The owner was great to work with and provided a great list of suggestions for things to see and do. We highly recommend this vacation rental.

We had a wonderful stay. The home was beautiful and spotless. Henry is extremely organized and very quick at responding to our questions. He provided us with an email that was filled with important information on check in and check out, restaurant information and places to visit. I would definitely visit Duck again and stay in this beautiful home.

ER Nurses with a very special bond. Our friendship has been celebrated with an annual trip to the Outer Banks. We felt very much at home in this beautiful cottage….we wanted for nothing. Wine, dinners, memories…..a very special trip….made even better with the hospitality of the owner.

This was our second trip to Duck, and our second in Sanderling and this property did not disappoint! Plenty of room for two families without being crowded, and close proximity to the beach. We would definitely stay here again!

As soon as we walked in everyone felt comfortable. The house was clean and very well maintained. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. Every room was easy to relax in. The canopy of trees made the front porch comfortable even in the heat of the day. The location of the house is a small neighborhood that does not get a lot of traffic. It is a short walk to the beach so we just walked back for lunch each day. There are walking trials on the main drag that are nice for running or cycling. The owner was quick to respond when we reached out. Everyone loved the house and would be more than happy to stay there again.

Many thanks for an incredible stay in the OBX! The home was beautiful. It was perfect for three couples and our 12 month old. We had a relaxing time and thoroughly enjoyed the beach -- in early May, we had pretty much the whole beach to ourselves. The neighborhood is gorgeous and perfect for walks or runs. We loved everything about the home and our time. We can't wait to be back again! Thank you!

Went for our annual girl’s road trip, and couldn’t have been more impressed with the cleanliness, decor, and location. This beautiful house made us feel welcome and comfortable, and had all of the necessary attributes to make for a wonderful experience. Henry was accessible and responsive, and we look forward to our next visit to Duck Forever on our next visit to The Outer Banks.

Our family visited the Outer Banks for a family wedding. The home was in a very quiet neighborhood, and extremely easy beach access. The home was exactly as pictured … clean, spacious, enough room for us and our grown children and spouses! Would definitely recommend!
My only suggestion is to add a Keurig.

We enjoyed our week at Duck Forever. The house was very comfortable and cozy, with all of the necessary amenities. The kids loved staying and playing in the bunk room. We made fantastic dinners in the large kitchen. The house is just a quick walk to the beach - where we spent most of our time. Would recommend to others.

I fell in love with this house before I even entered it. Location, communication with the owner, and proximity to the beach all exceeded my expectations. The owners thought of everything to make this home feel like a true vacation home.... high-end but comfortable. I hesitate to say more because I don't want anyone more to discover this gem! Seriously 10/10 on all accounts.

Relaxing vacation
We had a very relaxing stay with our adult children. Your home had everything needed to make it a home away from home! This was one of the cleanest homes we’ve stayed in…and we’ve been coming to OBX for 20 years. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Family vacation
Because we had unusually cold and windy weather for most of our stay, we were in the house much more than we had planned. We were glad that it was spacious and functional. Would definitely stay there again.

Great property
Our recent stay at this property was great. The house was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Walk to the beach and around the neighborhood was simple. Location to shops, restaurants and other parts of OBX was perfect. Furnishings were very comfortable and made for tons of conversation. 5+ stars all the way around on this property. We will be back.

This was our second year in a row staying here. It is perfect for our two families of 4 with a mixed age range of kids. We love the neighborhood and Henry is very attentive and responsive to communicate with.

Very welcoming!
What a lovely property! Loved that there were 4 bedrooms with two of them having en suite bathrooms and a shared bathroom for the bedrooms on the 2nd floor. The three living areas, each with sofas and chairs, were comfortable. There were televisions in each of the rooms, but we didn't use them at all. Instead, we sat on that great front porch in the rocking chairs whenever we weren't running around Duck or Corolla. You won't go wrong if you stay at Duck Fore Ever when visiting Duck!

Perfect Spring Break Getaway
We could not have asked for a better home base for our OBX vacation! The house was immaculate and beautifully furnished, in addition to being thoughtfully well-stocked. The kids loved the bunk room and the beach toys, and we all appreciated the easy walk to the beach and the nature trails within the resort.
We had one minor issue during our stay, but Henry was very responsive and had the problem fixed the next day. Thank you for hosting us - we look forward to a return visit!

Great location in so many ways
We loved our stay! Being surrounded by mature trees is a big plus. So is having an amazing well equipped kitchen. The house is far enough away from the road that you do not hear the cars and close enough to the beach that it is just a short walk. We will definitely be back.

Great location and home!
My wife's and my anniversary trip to Duck couldn't have been better and staying at the Duck Forever home was a big part of the experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the home and it's perfect location to the beach, quietness, provided amenities and comfort. Thanks for contributing to our wonderful, first-time trip to the Outer Banks! We hope to be back in the near future and will definitely consider Duck Forever for our next stay. Joe B

Location, location, location!
Great location to downtown Duck and a quick walk to the ocean to get your beach fix. The property is clean, modern with lovely furniture, a fully stocked kitchen, TVs in all the rooms as well as comfortable beds. Perfect set-up for couples looking for two main floor masters. 1/2 bath on the main floor was a bonus! All the toys you need for a great day at the beach—boogie boards, chairs, and a wagon to haul your beach items! Gorgeous setting amid hardwoods offers shade on hot, sunny days. We had a few questions and the owner was VERY responsive and even provided some "go-to" suggestions. We'll be back!

Had a nice, relaxing time there. Quiet neighborhood, close to the beach and the sound so got to see beautiful sunrises and sun sets. Just what we needed. Home owner was great, sent lots of info about the area and quick to answer any questions. We have stayed all over the outer banks over the years and this the best house we have vacationed in. Would recommend it hands down over any others we have stayed in.

Everything you could want.
Great home with everything you could need. Perfect bedrooms accommodated all our needs with room to spare. Close location to the beach and safe quite neighborhood. The only thing we could’ve asked for was that the temperature control could go lower. We are a very hot natured bunch and found it on the warm side.

We LOVED it!
This house was perfect in every way, we loved the neighborhood, the house was beautiful, clean and spacious. It was an easy walk to the beach and also close to shops in Duck but the house itself is nestled within beautiful trees so it feels private. We wanted to stay longer! Highly recommend staying here!

We loved the setting in the trees and location! Great to be able to go to the beach for sunrise and the sound for sunset. My 14 year old daughter and her friend were in the ocean everyday, even with cool temps. Nice to have great beach camp gear at the house. Having never been to Duck before this setting was great, private neighborhood close enough to ride bikes to "town". The house layout was great with 2 main level primary bedrooms for my partner and I and my mom, and the upper level for the girls. Gave everyone their space with a great open floor plan to gather in for meals and games. We would definitely return!

Perfect Getaway
I booked this property after seeing the high ratings and many positive reviews. It was our first time to Outer Banks and Duck and the entire trip, including the house, was even better than I expected. We traveled as two families of 4 and the house was immaculate and a perfect layout for everyone to gather in the main rooms but also have their own space when needed. The neighborhood was great for biking and it was a short walk to the beach. Henry was also very communicative throughout and responsive whenever I had questions. We will definitely be back!

A perfect beach house
My daughter summarized it well: “These owners really understand what people want in a beach house and deliver it beautifully.” The setting, the amenities, the rooms set-up, furniture, linens, even the neighbors were all wonderful, making even a somewhat rainy week at the beach great.
