About this apartment rental
Just one of the wonderful experiences you came to Hawaii for.... an outstanding oceanfront condo to make your stay complete.
Our fresh one bedroom unit is on the second floor of the D building of the wonderful Kona Reef Resort, really only six steps up! (Unit D14), From the time you D-14 you will be drawn to the ocean view in front of you. Fully appointed and air conditioned to ensure your stay is completely comfortable, from the swivel chairs on the lanai for watching the turtles or surfers play, to the extra comfortable pillow top king size bed.
D-14 at the Reef offers the best in relaxation of the resort complex. You have the best view from your own private lanai of the ocean and shoreline, where you are not too high to not enjoy the action of the waves crashing on the rocks, but high enough to have your own privacy. Once you open the sliding glass doors to the ocean, you may never close them again until you leave, as the sound of the ocean is so wonderful and is so peaceful, it will lull to sleep every night.
In the condo you will find all the needed items for a full relaxing stay. There is a comfortable full cushioned sofa that folds out to a queen size bed, a wonderful club chair for watching the view or reading. In July 2013 we added granite counters and a new stove in the kitchen, plantation shutters in the bedroom, and new drapes in the living room!
There is air conditioning in the condo for those rare extra hot days along with ceiling fans to keep the air moving, if the ocean breeze is not enough. There is one ceiling fan in the living room, one in the bedroom and one more on the lanai. The condo has free password protected wireless internet access in the unit for web surfing, checking your email if you wish, or working if you have to (call the condo the “far west coast office”). For those that can pull their eyes from the ocean there is a new 40” LCD TV in the living room with cable access and a VCR/DVD player attached and in the bedroom there is another new 27” LED flat screen with cable access.
The Kona Reef Resort is an outstanding resort property with a great location, from the incredible oceanfront location to the sand beach next door, Honl Beach. The resort has a wonderful pool and a large whirlpool spa. The pool area also has tables with chairs and chase lounges for sunbathing and a cabana party area with 4 large stainless steel gas BBQ's for the guests to use. The BBQ area is a great place to meet other guests and share about the great experiences of each other's adventures of the day. Parking is free and you can use the underground garage to keep your car cooler.
Kona Reef is within 1/4 mile of town and offers one- or two-bedroom condominiums.
The complex offers 4 gas grills, covered outdoor eating area, saltwater pool and hot tub. Next door is a white sand beach.
There is an elevator, but stairs are required for access to all units.

I love to see waves crashing on the shore. The view was even better than your photos. The location was great, we walked to shops and restaurants. (Royal Kona) Happy Hour.

Enjoyed our time at Kona Reef. Great place for our Hawaii vacation. Beautiful sunsets from the balcony. Kitchen was well equipped and nice grills by the pool.

Outdated. Terrible linens and pillows. Shower and under the kitchen sink smelled terrible. Ants

This was a fantastic property to stay at for our trip to Kona! The view and location facing the ocean made for beautiful mornings with a cup of coffee and gorgeous sunsets with a glass of wine! The condo was clean and had everything we could need for our week stay. We will definitely book here again when we come back to visit!

Wow! What a view! Enjoyed the view even night we watched the sunset.

We were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked this home was. The views are amazing, the bed was comfortable and you can’t beat the location. We hardly used our rental car as we could walk to most anywhere we wanted to go. Bbq area with tables and prep area was a real treat for our evening meals. Pool was also nice.
Property management company was very responsive. Can’t wait to come back again! Mahalo

Loved our stay. Amazing view, easy parking, and short walk to Kona restaurants.

The condo overall was cozy and clean, with the windows exception of the bathtub. It’s dated and doesn’t look very cleanable. The most frustrating thing was we were given 3/4 roll of toilet paper with no extra so had to run to the store. There were no coffee filters, so again ran to the store. The seasonings were also old and mostly unusable.

Great location condo, view of the ocean was amazing. We had coffee on the patio every morning while watching the surfers and the waves crash. Easy and short walk to downtown Kona. Parking at the complex was easy, unit had everything we needed including beach items. Would stay here again.

The best part of this condo was watching the surfers while eating breakfast on the Lanai.

The condo had everything that was needed (check all the closets and drawers!), was quiet, and close enough to town for convenience and peace. Loved being right on the ocean! I slept on the sofa bed with the screen door open every night 😊 I especially appreciated the Brita water pitcher which ensured fresh cold water at all times! Highly recommended.

quiet complex...with lovely view of the ocean...we fell asleep to the sounds of the sea...we were able to walk everywhere and took the complimentary trolley when needed before renting our car to tour the rest of the island...the unit was decorated in such a happy island theme... and the only negative was the bathroom tub shower...it needs repair or replacement...it felt unsanitary... we would stay again...and have
already recommend it to friends and family.

Overall, if the site would let me, I’d give a 4.5. The Kona Reef complex is perfect, right next to a small sandy beach plus super close to walk to restaurants and shops in the town. This unit, on the 2nd floor is a great location within the complex. It was easy to get to the ocean-front grass area, the parking lot, and the pool area. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need. We really appreciated the pantry items like spices, plastic wrap, etc. Communication with the management company was quick via text.

This was almost a perfect place to stay for me and my wife. It is right on the ocean and an easy walk to town.
Great sunsets right from the deck.
The place shows its age, but everything was functional.
You can keep to yourself at the complex or bensocial.

We had a lovely time! Management addressed our inquiries.

The location of this condo is amazing. Right on the ocean and ten minute walk to town. We could watch the surfers! There are great restaurants nearby. The interior furniture is clean and comfortable. Bed is fine. The carpet is old, stained and needs replacing. There is a washer and dryer in the unit, they work but very noisy! There is air conditioning, also noisy. The kitchen is stocked ok, lots of pots and pans and cooking utensils, but need real wine glasses vs. just plastic. The lanai furniture is all rusty and peeling. High chairs and table would be great on the lanai, as looking through the rails is visually disturbing. The fixtures in the bathroom are old. The internet did not work the first 2 days, but was remedied by the rental company. A workman showed up, without prior notice, to install a smoke alarm. Pool area is nice. This could be a real gem with a little effort at updating!

We loved the location of the complex and the unit. Ocean view was spectacular. Room was clean though carpets warn and permanently dirty. Kitchen utinsels and pots/pans were dated and some rusty. Knives were so bad we replaced some as well as a new tea kettle.
Onsite management company was EXCELLENT with handling any of our needs.
Overall I would stay again as I am sure these minor issues will be corrected soon.

The washer and dryer were LOUD as well as the AC. The bathroom fan didn’t work. Everything else was great!

Kona is a great town. This is our 4th trip buy first time at Kona Reef. This condo was great because it's walking distance to everything in town. The ocean front view never gets old. Parking was abundant which isn't always the case in town. The unit itself is fine, may need a little TLC here and there. But everything worked, the pool was great and the location is excellent. And when we did have a minor (internet) problem, the property manager was very responsive. We would recommend this unit and property management company.

The location is wonderful. Second floor overlooking the beach. Comfortable condo. Outdoor furniture is rusted. Washing machine is extremely loud. Just wash clothes when you are not there. Excellent location. Rental company was very easy to work with. Everything ran smoothly and was as promised.

We just returned from our stay at Kona Reef. The condo is perfect for 2 people. The view is absolutely amazing. It was easy to walk to restaurants and very close drive to get groceries, etc. The condo had everything we needed for our 8 nights in Kona.

We had a wonderful stay in this property. It was clean and the pictures accurately represented the condo. The property management was easy to work with and very nice. We had an issue with turning the shower on, because the knob was stuck, and they promptly sent over a plumber. The view from the condo is amazing and you can walk to many restaurants and shops. We had such a great time, and we wish we were still there!

Good location, adequate accommodations.
1. Need to replace the rusted balcony furniture
2. Carpet need cleaning or ideally replaced with other flooring.
3. Washing machine sounds like it is ready to explode and needs replacing.

The condo was exactly as described and suited our needs completely. Gorgeous view of the beach from the balcony. Short walk to restaurants and shops.
The communication with the owner for check-in and check out information was always received and I never had to ask questions. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful view and great location. The chocolate and coffee were greatly appreciated. Kitchen had everything we needed. Snorkeling equipment was great. The carpet is filthy. Had to wear flip flops in condo. I lined bedroom floor with towels as it was so dirty. I took 5 handfuls of lint out of dryer door as dryer wasn’t drying towels. You might want to keep an eye on that! No cooler bag or grocery bags which all other condos I’ve stayed at provide. If the carpet was clean I’d give you a 5 star rating!!

Born on the Big Island and now living in Portland, staying at the condo which is close to downtown Kona was the perfect location, not to mention the ocean view was amazing! Parking was also not a problem and easy access to the condo.
I look forward to stgaying there again!

This was our first visit to Kona and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The property is very well placed relative to restaurants and shopping. The condo was clean and well equipped and had a terrific view directly to the waves breaking over the beach. Communication and instructions from the property manager were professional, clear and timely. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property for your stay.

Cozy, basic condo in a convenient spot. Glad to have all of the beach essentials to use (masks/snorkels, beach towels, boogie boards). Check-in/out were easy as can be. Pool/hot tub/parking all really handy. We had a great time.

Great location, walking distance to down town. Amazing ocean front views with a public beach 200 yard away. The amenities are week worth the stay.

Nice large unit. Ample parking. Amazing ocean view from large balcony! We knew there were laundry facilities on property but were pleasantly surprised that they were in the unit. Great place to stay!

We extended our vacation for an additional week but were unable to remain in the ground floor unit we had rented. We liked the location of the Kona Reef (oceanfront and within easy walking distance of town) and were luckily able to rent this 2nd floor unit. The owner and property manager allowed us to transfer our refrigerated and frozen food into the unit prior to check-in which was a tremendous help! This unit was clean, furnished well, and the kitchen had all the necessary tools and gadgets. There was a much appreciated gift basket of Macadamia nut chocolates, local coffee, and cookies. Our favorite part was leaving the sliding glass door open and falling asleep to the sound of the waves. The pool was very nice and we used the grilling area a couple of times when we decided to cook fresh fish for dinner. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. We hope to return soon. Thank you.

We loved the location and the amenities of the Kona Reef Resort. The pool/ hot tub and common BBQ area is very nice. Our specific condo was well appointed, but, pictures can be deceiving. The condo is quite dated and furniture was worn. The patio furniture is very rusted and one of the legs on the patio table was actually falling off. A towel rack fell off the wall the first time we tried to hang a towel on it. The appliances are also old. Two of the stove top burners did not work and the vacuum broke when we tried to use it. We had to ask the property management to fix the stove (which they did that very day) and I duct taped the vacuum hose back on the nozzle so I could use the vacuum. On the plus side, the bed was extremely comfortable and the view of the ocean and sunsets spectacular. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need. We were especially disappointed because we need and had specifically requested a fully accessible unit and we were assured this unit was. It is not! Although there is an elevator in the building, the elevator reports to landings between floors. So, you have to navigate some stairs to access the condo. Not what we needed, so, we cut our stay short and moved to another fully accessible accommodation. The property management team (especially Angela) was absolutely great in assisting us with everything and working with us to move to a more appropriate accommodation. But for the stairs issue, and notwithstanding all the other quirks of the condo, we would have stayed the full month that we originally booked and we would have been satisfied.
