About this cabin rental
PLEASE NOTE: The Town of Truckee has implemented new short-term rental guidelines that limit the number of guests to 2 per bedroom. Since the cabin has three bedrooms, plus the sleeping loft, that limits the number of guests allowed. However, the ordinance does allow for the addition of 2 children aged 12 and younger, which brings the total number of guests allowed to 8. Enjoy the views of beautiful Donner Lake and Schallenberger Ridge in the Central Sierra Nevada Range from our cozy cabin's large deck or front windows. Our cabin is located in the middle of snow country. Northstar, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Donner Ski Ranch, Sugar Bowl, Royal Gorge and Tahoe Donner are all within 15-20 minutes from our door. Ice fishing up the hill at Prosser Lake. Donner State Park, which is just a mile and a half from us at the end of the lake, has trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. As our cabin has direct access to the lake; in summer, fish or swim off the dock in front of us, enjoy the many water sports possible on the lake, or take a 20 minute ride over to North Tahoe to enjoy the 'big lake' on the mountain. There are 7 golf courses within 15-18 minute drive, historic Truckee and the Transcontinental Railroad to explore. Rock climbing, hiking, shopping, live music /concerts, mountain biking in the area, are all possibilities. Gambling/Casinos in Reno about 35 minutes up Interstate 80. Our cabin is approximately 1400 square feet in size with space for two cars to park right by the back door. The main entrance to the cabin is from the back. As you enter, you have the kitchen on your right and a door into the main level bedroom and bathroom on your left. This bedroom has a queen bed and the bathroom has a tub/shower combination. Beyond the eating bar is the living area with an 8 foot dining table on one side and a couch and loveseat facing the fireplace on the other. Downstairs there are two bedrooms and a small bath. One bedroom has two twins and the other bedroom has a queen bed. From the downstairs hallway, you can go into another hallway that has a washer and dryer, a wood room that houses the wood for the fireplace and a door to the outside to take steps down to the road and lake. The loft is open to the main level and has 4 twin beds. Three of these beds are very close to each other (best for kids). There is another parking pad at lake level for one car. THIS IS A NO SMOKING PROPERTY. NO PETS.

First of all, the view of the lake at the cabin is exquisite! The owners responded promptly to questions prior to arrival. They were very nice and accommodating. Clear and easy check in and check out instructions were provided. The cabin was spotless upon arrival. The location is very convenient to ski resorts and snow parks. We had the perfect weekend staying at this cabin!

This cabin is quintessential Tahoe. We would definitely go again. Dining/kitchen/living room are open plan so great for family to hang out while cooks still part of the conversation. Beautiful view of the lake. Kitchen had every dish and utensil we could possibly need, and pantry provided plenty of storage space for our groceries. It feels cozy and loved.

This was the perfect place for our family trip. The cabin was clean and provided all that we needed and more. There were so many personal touches that made it extra cozy and the location was perfect. We'll definitely be booking this place again next time we're in the area.

The cabin was a great place to have family before christmas. The Cabin was decorate beautifully and felt very warm and welcome. The place was just perflic for our Tree year old grandson. Donner lake and Truckee are alway a fine place to visit

This was a great stay. The location was perfect overlooking the lake and close to trails. The hosts were kind and responsive. The property and cookware were very very clean and it had all the amenities needed for a nice stay. We'll be looking to return!

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was quiet, comfortable and well equipped. Most appreciated, particularly for the Donner Pass Road area, are the two roomy parking spaces that are on grade with the main floor. We also enjoyed the small library of books, pictures, and scrapbooks about Donner and the region. And of course the killer views. We would definitely stay again.

We loved our two day stay at this place. We cooked dinner both nights, plenty of kitchen space and supplies. The owner Norma, left informative notes in places and created an historical, thorough binder that we enjoyed going through, she was very thoughtful in that way. The upstairs does get warm and downstairs cool, that makes it great for sleeping. The place is huge with many beds and we thought it would be a great place for extended family to gather and stay. We definitely will be back!

Every step of booking, check in, during and check out were communicated well. This is a family cabin. It is well taken care of and loved by the owners, and I’m pretty sure guests, too. You feel at home the minute you walk through the door. The view of Donner Lake is stunning! We were here two nights and three days. It was hard to leave. Next time, we are booking for a week!

Property was well laid out with an awesome view of the lake. We particularly liked that you could enjoy everything you needed on the main floor without having to traverse a single stair. This made it possible for my 88-year-old mother to join us. She really enjoyed it. The house is so well appointed and obviously loved. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Our second stay here and once again we were very pleased. The cabin has great views of Donner Lake and it is a quick walk across the road to the Lake. The cabin is very comfortable, great wifi, good tv and for the most part well stocked. They provide an ample supply of wood for the fireplace which came in quite handy. Lots to do in the area, but perfect for just hanging out as well. We will return.

This is a fabulous place to stay if one wants to sit back and enjoy their visit. The view of the lake through the large windows was breathtaking - especially with snow on the mountians! And Truckee is one of those old time small cities with many friendly person to work with you while shopping or eating. We could not have asked for more!!!

Cute cottage. Has everything you need. We used a bedroom for a closet due to small rooms and closets. But everything was perfect for just my husband and I.

We were able to secure the rental early last month for the days we needed. The process was seem less and the accommodations were cozy and checked off all the boxes. We had two families stay and there was enough room for everyone comfortably without feeling on top of each other. We were close enough to get a few necessities but far enough to not feel like we were in too much of a crowd. The view is incredible and perfect sipping spots for morning coffee. Our preteens love the loft and the feeling of being independent and our 17 year old had enough space to himself to veg out as necessary. We loved the mountain bikes, but make sure to bring your own water toys as they’re not available. We were there the warmest weekend of the spring season, so still a TON of snow, but also we could have paddle boarded. Easy walks, close to the summit, breathtaking views. I recommend setting the alarm and catching the sunrise. You can drive 7 min. Up to the summit and catch the view over the lake. We loved it wants will be back!

Our family enjoyed our time at this cabin. Lovely view of the lake and plenty of room for our family of 5. It's location is perfect for picking up gear at Tahoe Dave's and hitting Sugar Bowl. We grabbed our groceries for the week at Safeway which is also very close by. The home was warm, clean and cozy. There was so much snow that the kids were able to make a decent lane for sledding on the side of the house, but think this might be limited if not for the amount of snow this year. If not careful, you could end up in the street below. The wifi worked fine, even thru the storm. We look forward to future stays here.

This clean and comfortable cabin has lots of room, is well appointed, and has a view of Donner Lake. Close to Tahoe ski resorts as well. We'll definitely be back!

It is delightfully decorated with amazing views, great amenities, well stocked kitchen and bathrooms, plenty of firewood, easy to find snow clearing equipment, and the power (mostly) stayed on during a very wet NYE storm! This is a gem of a cabin and it made our New Year’s weekend very special.

Mr./Mrs. Markley were excellent host. Very easy to communicate with. Our family enjoyed their cozy cabin. We had beautiful views of Donner lake after a snow fall.Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you may need.

My wife and I wanted a quick escape with our 8 month old son and this was just what we needed. The location was great with a nice view of the lake to wake up to. Everything was as advertised if not better. We will definitely be trying to come back.
