MAMA BEAR RETREAT & "Bunkie" is a highly-rated, spacious, comfortable, private, luxurious, relaxing, newer, WHEELCHAIR-FRIENDLY property just minutes to the "heart" of Pigeon Forge and all the attractions!
This property backs up to 80 acres of woods and sits on over a half acre. The cabin boasts almost 3,000 square feet of interior space and 1,400 sq. feet of porches, deck, and patio.
The roads to the cabin are NOT scary like many drives up steep mountain roads to other cabins!
This property also has a SPECIAL AND UNIQUE AMENITY that many cabins only wish they had to offer their guests! Mama Bear Retreat has a "Bunkie" with over 250 square feet of pure enjoyment! The Bunkie can be used as an office, overflow sleeping quarters, virtual learning / schooling area, video arcade enjoyment center, movie "theater", arts and crafts area, a quite "get away place" and so much more!

Hand-scraped hardwood floors and tongue & groove ceilings and walls throughout most of the MAMA BEAR RETREAT set the tone at this relaxing retreat. Guests can show off their culinary skills in a well-equipped kitchen with all stainless steel appliance including a French-door refrigerator (with filtered water on the door and an ice maker), microwave, smooth-top range, dishwasher, 12-cup carafe coffee maker, single K-cup coffee maker, small appliances and all the pots and pans and utensils needed to prepare just about any meal. The granite counter tops and Hickory cabins complete the ensemble and invite any gourmet to create to his or her heart’s content. Any "grill master" will also appreciate the Weber gas grill where he or she can prepare steaks, burgers, chicken, and more! The grill is just a few steps from the kitchen, on the grilling area of the rear porch that can be used even during inclement weather. In addition, there is also a "park-style" outdoor, charcoal grill with charcoal provided! Enjoy outdoor dining at a rustic table with 6 chairs on the SCREENED back porch located right off the kitchen or eat at the indoor dining area!
UPPER LEVEL:
The upper level has a spacious, private king suite with a private shower-bath, plus a nice reading loft / alcove area and a "work from home" area with a computer desk, chair, and monitor. Not many cabins have a 55" flat-screen, 4-K TV in a bedroom, or a deluxe memory foam mattress! Well, Mama Bear Retreat has these and more!
MAIN LEVEL:
Three reclining seats, two in a sectional sofa and one in the single chair makes the great room with a direct-vent, gas fireplace (available during cold months) with floor to ceiling stone and a high-vaulted ceiling quite inviting. This easy access, main level also has a well-equipped deluxe kitchen, dining area with table and chairs, bar stools, a wheelchair-friendly bedroom with private bath, another bedroom and bath, a laundry alcove with full-size washer and dryer, wide hallway and doors, two porches and a deck.
A 5-6 person hot tub is conveniently located on the main level in a SCREENED enclosed 50' x 12' rear porch. The porch has direct access to a "cabana bath" via a door directly into the bath from the porch!
LOWER LEVEL:
The lower level features a combo "games and sleeping" room where twin bunk-beds and two pull-out queen sofa beds provide sleeping for 6 guests. This area also has a direct-vent fireplace, a game/card table with chairs, and a foosball table. Guests of all ages can also enjoy a plethora of board games or relax while watching a 75" 4-k Smart TV. Down the hallway is a separate room with a pool table, plus a chess & checkers table.
There is also an adjacent bathroom with a small shower.
The lower level can be accessed via an indoor stairway or accessed from the outside via double French doors where there is also easy access to the lower level driveway and yard. PLEASE NOT: WHEELCHAIRS CAN ONLY ACCESS THE LOWER LEVEL FROM OUTSIDE!

The total number of guests permitted, not including infants, is TEN (10).
This is a family-oriented property. No fraternities, sororities, and other such "wild groups" allowed! Birthday, anniversary and other "respectful gatherings/groups" are okay. Failure to comply with this "occupancy policy" is a violation of the terms and conditions of renting this property. Such violation will not be tolerated and will result in cancellation of stay, removal of all guests from the premises, forfeiture of all monies paid, and payment for any damages by guests.
NUMBER OF PERSONS IN FAMILY / PARTY:
The total number of guests, including children (but not including infants), must be listed / disclosed when making a booking. Rental rates are for 1-6 persons (adults and children). Nominal charge for additional guests over six (the 7th, 8th, 9th, and10th guest).

Up to 4 vehicles (5 Maximum). No food or food wrappers / containers should be left in vehicles!
Keep vehicle doors LOCKED at all times in the unlikely event that a bear may be in the area.
PROPERTY FEE / PROTECTION DAMAGE PROTECTION:
$59 Property Fee provides automatic Property Damage Protection for up to $1,500. Guest responsible for any damages over this amount.
CANCELLATION:
If a cancellation of your booking is a concern, and especially in winter months, we highly recommend the purchase of Cancellation Protection (aka: Travel Insurance) from CSA or another travel insurance company. These "policy" normally provide a refund in the event of cancellation if you pass the refund date period pertaining to your stay / booking (please read carefully the restrictions regarding refunds / cancellations before booking this property).
In the event of snow or ice road conditions, 4 wheel drive vehicles are recommended.

We loved staying at Mama Bear Retreat. The owners have truly thought of everything. We were only at the property a short time and did not get to take advantage of all the property offers. It was clean and cozy. There was great communication with the owners and the check-in process was super easy and convenient. We will recommend the property to everyone and hope to get to stay here again in the future.

The cabin was beyond our expectations! Very spacious so many games and activities. In a good location right outside pigeon forge! Owners went out of the way to make sure our stay was spectacular. Highly recommend!

We had an excellent time at the Sand’s. Plenty of things to do for our younger children up to high schoolers. The unit was very clean and spacious. The hosts were very responsive to questions we had. We look forward to another trip to Tennessee.

Mama Bear’s Retreat lives up to the prior reviews and description of the property. It is beautiful! It is so clean, well stocked and cozily spacious. The owners thought of everything needed! Great porches, mornings and evenings in the rocking chairs enjoying the views and the quiet. So much time spent in the large screened in porch with the hot tub, having meals, talking and playing games. Kids loved the Bunkie and many other provided games. Fire pit is amazing. Close, but not too close, to attractions and stores. We loved our stay and highly recommend this lovely retreat to others!

This place had everything for everyone! Debbie and Steve were amazing to work with throughout the entire process booking to checkout!
We had a large group with kids ranging from our 18mo grandson up through our 27yr old daughter and the property had everything to cater to everyone in the group. There was a fire pit for everyone to enjoy. The games both indoor and outdoor kept everyone busy.
I highly recommend staying here! Our only complaint is that we overbooked our activities throughout the day and didn't spend more time enjoying the house itself

Several good friends along with my wife and I stayed from Thurs-Sun and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was very clean and in great shape. For someone like me who doesn't enjoy traditional camping but enjoys the beautiful mountain views, this cabin was absolutely perfect. The rooms are spacious and whatever you need for your stay (entertainment, cooking tools, etc.) were already available. We enjoyed grilling, sitting by the fire pit, resting in the hot tub, and watching a movie. We especially enjoyed sitting on the covered porch area for our meals as we looked out at the beautiful views of nature.
You can definitely tell that Steve and Debbi (the hosts) care about quality and attention to detail! Steve was very responsive and provided detailed instructions for everything we needed. I would highly recommend this cabin - you won't regret it!

This cabin has all you need for a relaxing get-a-way! No detail forgotten here at Mama Bear Retreat! Our family of grandparents, parents, and children all enjoyed our stay with plenty of activities for all. The owners were very responsive both before and throughout our stay. We would highly recommend this cabin and hope to be able to visit again soon!!

Steven was awesome! He made sure cabin had anything you could think of. It was crazy clean and had awesome separate facility my son used for video games. Jacuzzi was super clean and did I mention how clean Cabin was! Loved it!! 4 miles from great places to eat and have fun. If I come back it will definitely be to this cabin if available.

This cabin was immaculately kept and had everything you would ever think of! The game room and hot tub were fab favorites among our group! The location is beautiful and you are able to enjoy all the scenery while relaxing one of the many porches. The property manager gave thorough instructions and hints to everything at the property. We will definitely book again when we travel to TN again!

We stayed at this property for a spring break trip to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. The posting is very accurate. Views are amazing. Very clean, with responsive owner. Lots of fun family activities…pool table, shuffle board! Kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, pans. Appliances are new. We had no issues with this property.

This property is just as shown, but it has many additional special touches! The kitchen is very well-equipped, and this was important as we stayed seven nights and ate most of our meals in. The beds are quite comfortable, the hot tub is nice, the fire pit is great, and there are plenty of games both inside and outside.
We appreciated all the night lights throughout, the charging cubes in each bedroom, the heaters in the bathrooms, and the STUNNING VIEW!
The property is conveniently located to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and the national park. The roads are much better than those to other cabins where we have previously stayed. There is plenty of parking as well--and that is not always the case with mountain properties.
Communication with the owners was excellent.

The house was exactly as stated and perfect for a large family. The handicapped ramps and showers were perfect for my brother. It is stocked with everything you need for your stay. The beds were the great and we will definitely be staying again when we come to the area. Highly recommend this property.

The cabin is the best I ever stayed in the beds are super comfortable the pull out needs not so good could feel springs the cabin was ready for everything we are going to take are families for a vacation there and I will hold another retreat was more then I could ask for.

We had our family pre-Christmas gathering at Mama Bear and had a very nice stay in a very ample and beautifully rustic space. We were pleasantly surprised by all the fun activities for kids and adults alike. Very nice and well-stocked fire pit helped make our last night’s family gathering memorable. Great communication with owners.

Our anniversary trip was a great one. Beautiful cabin shared with our nephew. Other family members were not able to come, but we had a good time. We were close to all the activities in Pigeon Forge, TN we had planned to visit. Also spent a day in Townsend and Wears Valley, TN which we love. Enjoyed sitting on the deck viewing the mountains, I made a video every morning and shared back home for others to see! Thank You, Steve and Debbi for sharing your beautiful cabin.

Absolutely stunning place that was perfect for our weeks getaway with our family. The cabin had everything including a beautiful view. They thought of every detail, from coffees to yard games around the fire pit. The hosts communication was great, even alerting us to recent bear sightings! Loved it!

This is the second year in a row I've stayed in this cabin, and it was even BETTER than last fall!! From the new sectional in the living room, to the fabulous "bunkie" hang-out place enjoyed by kids and adults all week, to the amazingly equipped kitchen, our 8 days there were just spectacular. The owners are masters at great communication, providing tons of helpful tips and pictures on our arrival date of various things like how to light the grill, how to use the hot tub, and info about the water filtration system. What else i love about this cabin is that the owners are truly local, not just a group of investors from out of state. Their attention to detail with the property itself as well as the way they manage bookings really set them apart from all other VRBO experiences in the Smoky Mountains. Highly highly recommend. Already looking at dates for next year!

We needed a property that catered to a family but especially to the grandparents, one of which has had knee and hip replacements and uses a cane regularly. She was absolutely impressed with all the ramps and handles at entrances and bathtub seating, etc. so not worrying about her comfort and safety made our stay all the more enjoyable. The place is beautiful and felt like home rather than a rental. We are a gaming family also so the game room downstairs saw a lot of action and our teenagers loved the Baby bear “bunkie” where they could go hang and game after us older folks went to bed. The hot tub was the best I’ve had at any property, clean and hot. Great kitchen items and comfy beds and Mr. Sands was great at staying in touch and very informative as well as very welcoming. All our needs were met. We’d definitely book again.

This cabin will not disappoint you. It has amazing view and also has a lot of things to do inside and outside the cabin. This cabin is very equipped. Thank you letting us have this cabin for a week, we enjoyed our time with family. We got to see bears at Cades Cove. We found a short cut from Wears Valley Road going to Townseed going to Cades Cove. It was a short drive.

If you are on the fence about reserving this house, just do it, you will not regret it! Hands down best VRBO we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in a lot). Everything was perfect about our stay. Beautiful furniture, comfy beds, great kitchen, lovely outdoor space, super quiet. The drive to the house was easy and in great proximity to all the Pigeon Forge action. The owners have thought of everything you need and were quick to respond with my questions. I hope we get a chance to stay in this home again!

What a beautiful home! It was a wonderful spot for some family time. The home was clean and well stocked. There were more than enough games and entertainment to keep us busy all week (and much longer, had we had the time!). Our kids are already asking when we can return.

Mama bear retreat is the perfect cabin for a family vacation! There was plenty of room for all of us. This is the cleanest cabin I have ever stayed at. Location is secluded, but not too far from town. Beautiful views and tons of games and activities at cabin. Owner is great at communicating everything you need to know prior to arrival and was very easy to get in touch with if we needed anything! We would definitely stay at mama bear retreat again!
