We traveled down for a few days with our elderly dog, to begin her bucket list: rented pontoon boat for a water-loving canine. The lake house was accommodating and the lot safe for walking around. Bear in mind that this is an old house with many years on her, in the middle of the woods, and expectations should match that. The friendly host has cheery rustic signage, clean linens, comfortable, well-worn furniture, a proper table for meals inside and two picnic benches outside. Elli (pup) enjoyed basking in the sunlight on the pier while we took the river view in, and sitting with her humans on the patio. I in turn noted all the native plants that survive the dry terrain — it would be lovely to see all the clematis in bloom during the springtime. (I’m a gardener, so I always look around.) Muscadine was ripe and birds feeding from it while we were there. If bringing kids, watch for the loons to dip and sunning turtles to climb up onto a log and then slide back into the water. When you’re chilling, it’s the little things… Be prepared for a few hours, intermittently, of mosquito swarm…in full force and then gone again. Water, woodland; again to be expected. Also late night/early morn, woodland insects will be a’flurry. The road into the residential area is one lane with many soft shoulders, so drive slowly, considerately and be aware of the custom to pull to the side if you can depending on the area you are in (and who can do what). You’ll get there…on lake time.

run down and abandon looking. Inside had rat droppings in cookware, silverware ,dishes, kitchen towels. Bathroom had live mice, nest in closet. trash had been thrown in bathcloset, including dirty tissue. soap dish in bath was all caked over with old soap. used soap in med cabinet in bath. closet in bedroom had previous laundry , sheets, towels, linens throwed in the floor. no room left in closet to put shoes. deck boards on the water loose and scary. No hammock or swing as picture showed, outside chairs had missing cushions, we left early than the time we paid for. Nasty place and no response from owner. i wish i could include the pictures i took so other visitors could see before they spend their hard earned money!!!

It was explained that this was an older cabin by the lake so we did not get our expectations up but what was not said is that it was very poorly maintained. There are safety hazards that you should be made aware of. Outside the door a tree that is very rotten at the base leans on the main power lines into the house. When it falls and it will, it will go through the roof and into one of the bedrooms. If in that room when that happens someone will get hurt badly. Another issue is a very soft floor at the fridge that a person could potentially fall through. Missing window panes in the french doors. The dock and pier was another hazard. I could go on and on. We did not feel very safe in this house. We will not return.

Lot was beautiful with many trees so that there was plenty of shade on the patio. Loved seeing an Eagle, heron, and other birds during the stay. Home was rustic but clean. Enjoyed my time there.

I've stayed a lot of places in this area never anywhere that was so comfortable and felt so much like home. its not fancy so if that's what your looking for look on but if you want a private get away to fish off the pier and just hang out grill and have a fire in the fire pit at night then you found it I didn't want to leave and booked an extra night it was well lite at night all around the house and so quite we never saw another soul close enough if you want to get out but far enough away you don't know it. would like some lighting on the pier to night fish but other than that I can not think of one negative thing to say this will be my go to from now on if it's available and for the price no way you will beat it I thank them so much for sharing this with every one and caught tons of fish right off the pier. I will be back for sure as soon as I can
