Summary of reviews
The property offers clean and comfortable accommodations with great outdoor amenities, well-stocked kitchen, and comfortable beds. Guests enjoyed kayaking, fire pits, and the friendly neighbors.
5.0
The reason we booked this property was because it included free kayak usage. We thoroughly enjoyed them. Also, we had some good family time around the fire pit. One issue we had was with the driveway - it is steep, but it was much better than parking on the road; we didn't have any trouble
with it, but the first time going in was unnerving. someway

Great location and communication.
4.0
The house was beautiful, but not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. The only ways into the house are by a steep downward slope to the front door, or about 10 steps to the backdoor. My mother in law who has had a stroke could not come and go for trips on the lake or outside the house because it was too strenuous for her to climb. Other than that, the house was clean, cozy and had great lake/river access.
4.0
Overall great visit and I would stay again. All communication was great and check in very easy. Inside was clean, well appointed, and in great shape. King bed we used was nice and comfortable. Although inside was great, outside was in need of a major cleaning. Lots of dirt, dead bugs, old spider webs and mud dauber nests everywhere on walls, windows and doors. Even with outside cleaning needed still nice property with great outdoor amenities available. The driveway is very steep and could be iffy for any car without decent bottom clearance. This property is managed by a commercial company, Evolve, that I was not happy with. Reason is that I initially made a 6 day reservation 10 months in advance and needed to add a 7th day (a Monday) about 2 months out. Because Evolve detected an event being held in the area (per their rep I was communicating with) they raised the price of adding the one additional Monday night 64%, yes 64%, from the initial rate. That is ridiculous price gouging. Even though we enjoyed this property and would recommend it, I will look to avoid Evolve managed properties in the future if this how they treat customers.

Exactly as listed. The host was wonderful.

House was great and fit our needs. We were able to bring our dogs and get some family time. Too cool and windy to enjoy the kayaks or fishing. We were able to hike and horseback ride and visit the Elk and Bison Preserve and Planetarium. Also enjoyed the fire pit.

Great location, close to everything LBL has to offer for a getaway or stay at the house and enjoy the house and lake.

The home is very nice. Everything was just as stated and pictured. The only recommendation I would make is to let people know that the house is not accessible without steps (lakeside) or traversing a steep driveways (front door). Our family enjoyed our time and hope to visit again soon.

We loved our stay here. Cute place, clean and comfortable. The kayaks and the outside seating were the highlight. Would recommend for a quaint getaway. The host was great and so helpful!

A Great Lake House! My family of 6 stayed for 2 nights over a holiday weekend., we enjoyed the location and the privacy. The kayak’s are a plus, as is the fire pit!
The home is well appointed, fully stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. Hope to visit again!

It was nice to be on the lake and we made the most of it. But the driveway is extremely difficult to navigate, the pictures made the home look open and airy and it wasn't, the outdoor sitting areas had to be cleaned before using them and the house has many small transitional levels making it difficult for older folks. The listing needs to more accurately reflect the reality.

We met another family for a couple night stay in June at this property. Overall, it was extremely clean and had a great experience.
My husband had trouble finding the location as it’s in a tighter, windy street and is perched on the side of a hill. The driveway was quite steep and decided to back in. The bonfire area was very convenient and close to the house. The dock was well maintained. There were more neighbors out and about so keep in mind if you’re looking for a more secluded place.

This is a wonderful place to stay! The house is very clean, pet friendly, great lake location and has nice neighbors. This home has the best stocked kitchen we have ever stayed at! I would highly recommend this home and hope to stay here again!

I met 3 of my brothers here for a golf weekend. There are 3 bedrooms, 1 with bunk beds, and that was good with us, 4 adults. The house is older but was clean and in order. Plenty of towels, washcloths, etc. No hairdryer or shampoo but we brought our own. The dock is new but we didn't have a boat so didn't use that. Firepit was nice in the back yard. Plenty of wood to burn. Everything worked! TV, dishwasher, hot water, etc. We really enjoyed our stay, you will too.

Just what we needed!

Overall cute place to stay especially because of the outdoor fun. We walked around the property (our dogs loved it), went kayaking, and had several bonfires under the twinkle lights stretched across the backyard. Also, the neighbors were super friendly!

Host is very accomodating
The house and outdoor areas are a good size for our group of 5. The beds and linens were nice. We made use of the grill but be sure you know to bring charcoal :) We enjoyed the use of the dock and the kayaks. There was a lot of firewood for enjoying the firepit. We always appreciate a pet friendly rental.

A great time!
Three friends got together for an online conference and had a great time doing it from this house on the lake. The internet supported three computers streaming at the same time...excellent! The owner was very responsive, and everything was just what we needed!

Beautiful cabin right on the water!
Very clean inside, plenty of room, new appliances. Nice seating area outside by charcoal grill, and outstanding fire pit out back. Only drawback was wet firewood, but can’t help the rain. We were able to pick some up in town no problem. Early check in wasn’t an issue, great communication with owner.

Great week with friends!
We stayed July 12-19. It was a very relaxing trip. We had three couples and a small dog. The lakehouse was very accommodating and very clean and tidy. The kitchen had lots of cookware and utensils. The fridge was very large and the new stove was really great to cook on. The beds were pretty comfy. The showerhead was very low in the bathroom attached to the one bedroom. We had to shower on our knees or lean over to even get our heads under the water.
Halfway through the week, the flies got pretty bad as well, which the owner doesn’t really have any control over, however they did have these fly trap bags that probably helped a lot. They had a little electric racket thing but the flies didn’t seem to be bothered by it. We are only including it in the review so others can see and If you are wanting to spend time out on either deck, be prepared to bring something to keep the flies away which we didn’t think to bring.
The big dining table was awesome to play board games around each night! The smart TV and complimentary WiFi was an added bonus!
The dock looked super new and the walk to the lake was very convenient. We rented a boat at KenLake marina a couple days later in the week. It was a really short drive over there and it was a lot less expensive to rent the boat over there than the marina on Lake Barkley. We would have taken the kayaks out, however we ended up running out of time to do everything we had planned.
The host checked in with us on the first night but the lakehouse had everything we needed so we didn’t need anything else during our stay! The keypad locks on the doors were super cool and easy, we didn’t have to worry about keeping a key on us at all times. We would totally stay here again, super cozy and comfortable! Thanks for such a great stay!

The house has a Great Lake view location. Nicely furnished with good appliances and TV’s. Pleasant outside seating areas. Excellent dock. Good kayak’s available.

Family lake life living
Our family had so much fun in the area! The house was great, but has been updated since these photos which was a pleasant surprise aside from the bunk beds we were not expecting. The property owner was awesome answering all of my questions before our arrival. Having the kayaks on-site was great! Our family had a great time and a wonderful rental experience!

Very nice place to chill!
This house is in a very quiet neighborhood with lots to do nearby. Location is very close to the Land Between the Lakes. There is a marina nearby with boat rentals. The house was clean and comfortable and there were lots of kitchen essentials available. I would stay here again!

Beautiful place to stay.
The only complaint we had was not enough parking for the boat trailers. Also, the pictures showed 3 queen/king beds. One room has bunk beds. But other than that it was very clean and beautiful.

A welcome getaway from the UP of Michigan. Great place!

Great stay!
Very happy with our choice of where to stay when we visited kentucky. We've stayed at many VRBOs and this was probably the cleanest and most friendly space we stayed. Loved the "personality" of the house and the large bathrooms. Would be perfect for a family stay. The pier was fantastic as was the bonfire pit. Thank you so much - would definitely stay again.

Excellent
Wonderful place!!!! Very peaceful and right on the water. The owner was very easy get ahold of to answer any questions and the house is very well taken care of. I would not necessarily recommend this house to someone who has a hard time with hills or stairs as there are a few of them. We will be back to visit in a few months and will definitely rent this cabin property again

Great Lake House Getaway
Our family had a very nice stay at the Pelican Bay Retreat in mid October. The Pelican Bay Retreat was very nice, clean, and well stocked for all your cooking needs. The communication with the owner was excellent, before and after the stay. The bedrooms were large and the beds were comfortable. The house is located on a nice property by the water with trees, a firepit, and two nice decks that you can enjoy in the morning or night!

Family Getaway
We selected this home on the lake to get away with our college age daughters. The home was clean, functional and comfortable. The hosts have thought of everything to make a stay relaxing. It is well.supplied including geilling needs and an inviting porch. We enjoyed our time and one some of our daughter's friend joined is for part time. We also rentwd kayaks nearby and enjoyed on October outing.

Lake getaway
Beautiful location. Exceeded our expectations.

Quirky house
This is one house added to another! There is a 2-3 inch step between the two structures and lower ceilings, so if a guest is taller than 6'2", watch your head! The check-in process and communication from the host was good. The on-line listing photos are not representative of the actual house furnishings, but those weren't bad. Beds were comfy, and bedding decent. There were ample kitchen items; plates, glasses, pans, and utensils, but the old-time electric stove and oven were a bit challenging. The location is good, about 15 minutes to the large marina for all your water play needs!

Everything We Wanted
We had a very nice stay at the Pelican Bay Retreat. Beds were comfy. Easy access to the lake for our kayaks and the coves were great for kayaking. Our host Dorothy was wonderful. Appliances are a bit dated but we had no trouble preparing our meals. We had beautiful weather so got to take advantage of the fire ring. She even had firewood available for us to use. You’ll see in other reviews comments about the steep driveway but Dorothy made sure we knew which way to come in to make it easier. We didn’t have a problem with our kayak trailer. Might be a bit of a challenge with a large bass boat but should be fine.
5.0
Great Lakehouse
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dorothy's home. It was a perfect location for a quiet lake getaway. Dorothy was great at communication and was very proactive to make sure I had all the directions. The home was very comfortable for 2 couples.

Our Cadiz Vacation
The house was not as clean as it should have been. The outside was terrible. Not ready for guests. The furniture was broken down and the deck dirty. When staying in a lake house, you want nice outside furniture and clean.

Lake Weekend Stay
We stayed here for 3 nights. Property was clean. Communication was host was great. Were no extras on paper towels or garbage bags, FYI. DVD player in living room didn’t work and one of the toilets would not flush. Our allergies were horrible here. Not sure why but when we were outside it was better, just FYI if you have allergies!
The master bed was VERY comfortable, the dock was a nice place to relax and a nice view of the lake. Fire pit was nice and wood on property that you can use. Kitchen has pretty much everything you’d need to cook and it feels very homey. Overall, it was a fun stay for our family with three children. Close to lake rentals and fun.

Kayaking vacation
We arrived and were unsure how to get in the house. I called the owner who helped us locate the key. We couldn’t find the cushions for the outside couch and seat bottoms for the chairs outside for two days but finally located them in a closet inside the house. The location for us was what we really liked. Easy to put kayaks in right from the house location. We enjoyed our time at Lake Barkley. The driveway is very steep but my 80+ year old parents were able to take the stairs to get in the door facing the water. The bathroom inside the one bedroom has a low doorway that my husband who is 6’2” tall kept hitting his head on so would not recommend a tall person using that room. The other bathroom has a small shower which could be enlarged to improve it. I would recommend adding a bath with shower in the bedroom with the king bed as that room is really big. Lots of different floor levels in the house as well which is hard for older folks but we managed with no falls! Kitchen needs some upgrades as well. You can’t open the freezer door all the way making it hard to get things in/out of it. The stove/oven sits in the cabinet area with open areas around the edge of the stove letting things fall in the open areas like LEGO pieces!

Cute house with a few issues
House has a very steep driveway. Once at the bottom it is a challenge to turn around. Luckily we only had one car. Not a very good view of the water from the house. Very shallow cove with heavy debris. House has a very musty, moldy smell. May be due to a wet basement. Hot water barely sufficient for one shower. After using the shower in the bathroom the smoke alarm (located in locked closet) went off for about 10 minutes. Continued to run bathroom fan and turned on kitchen fan to get it to shut off. There is a cute pergola with a swing outside. Close to Land Between the Lakes. Restaurants and stores 20-30 away.
