Firstly, the positives: Great central location right next to a metro stop and lots of nearby shops and restaurants. Large apartment with plenty of space for a big family. Very clean as well. The negatives: Between 2 very busy streets with lots of traffic noise, particularly if the windows are open. Heard sirens throughout the night. As for the service, Michael was hard to reach by email and phone. Had to reach out multiple times to get a response. The worst part of our trip was that we were not told that the hot water heater was broken when we checked into the apartment!! He sent me an email earlier in the day, which of course I didn't check ahead of time since we were traveling to Paris. He walked us around the apartment and showed us everything, but did not say a word about the hot water, and he could see that we were traveling with kids. By the time we found out that night, it was too late to go anywhere else. Called him multiple times that night, with no response. The internet was also not working. We ended up going to a hotel the next day because he could not tell when the water would be fixed, losing some precious time seeing the city. I will definitely not do VRBO in Europe again!

Two grandparents and 8 grandchildren ( young adults) had a superb time at the apartment. Great location, overlooking a small, lovely garden with fountain, very easy access to Metro, Monoprix, bakery. Wonderful Musee des Arts et Metiers, next door. Paris charm yet room enough for a great family get together.

We stayed in Gaité Paris for 3 nights in early July and were very pleased with the accommodations. It's actually a 3-bedroom apartment plus a 1-bedroom apartment which connect internally, so we could move back and forth without going outside on the landing. Both apartments have pull-out sofas, so our 9 family members were very comfortable. Rooms were spacious, beds were firm, the layout of the 3 1/2 bathrooms convenient to all bedrooms and the kitchens were workable with enough space for everyone. The apartment is well located on the right bank in the 3rd arrondissement and just across from a park, so there are large trees shading the windows that face front. It is therefore a very bright apartment in the front. The windows that face the back make for darker, but still very pleasant rooms. Although the street is a pedestrian street, you can hear the traffic from the two nearby intersecting streets if the windows are open. There is no air conditioning in the apartments and it was quite hot while we were there, so windows were left opened all day. And because the Gaité Theater is next door, there was one evening when several people were packing up into a large truck what looked to be pieces of a stage set. This went on for several noisy hours but luckily, they finished and drove off about 11pm, so we were able to get to sleep. Michael is a very thoughtful, competent manager. He met us promptly when we arrived to open up the apartments and explain things. When we ran out of supplies, he brought them over quickly at our request. Shopping is easy at a nearby Monoprix, metro and bus lines are convenient to the apartment. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Seine so you can get very easily to the left bank, about 10 minutes to the Marais and Musée Pompidou. The only thing that didn't work well was the WIFI/TV connection. This meant we couldn't easily get our emails nor could we watch the World Cup games that were being broadcast while we were there. Michael tried to have the connection fixed but it remained frustrating for the 3 days of our stay. However, Michael was able to negotiate a small daily refund of our payment, which we thought was very proactive and thoughtful. If you're heading to Paris with a large group, this is a very comfortable apartment to rent and we recommend it highly.

We have mixed feelings about our recent stay at this property. The owner seemed easy to communicate with before our stay and said he would meet us at the location to "welcome" is when we arrived. The day we travelled from London to Paris, I was unable to reach him after multiple attempts via phone and through the VRBO Web site. We showed up at the property and no one was there to greet us or even let us in the building for almost 20 minutes. In the meantime our family (ranging in ages 11-78) stood outside in a busy courtyard area with all our luggage and wondered if he would show up. No response from the owner, but eventually another man met us who I never heard of and let us in, gave us the keys, helped us get our luggage up the MANY steep stairs, and we got settled. The welcome binder left for us on the table said there was supposed to be a "Starter Pack) of tea, coffee, etc., but none of this was there. The Wi-Fi was also not very good and we had trouble throughout the stay keeping connected. When it did connect, it was very slow. Don't depend on the Wifi if you stay here. There were plenty of appliance and kitchen supplies, but instructions on using the microwave would've been helpful. If you are from the US, it is not anything we are used to. Same with the washer and dryers in the units. We were pleased to see 2 hot water devices that we planned to use to heat water for tea, however when we used them, it was clear they had not been washed recently. One day the gas was shut off on the morning due to some utility work out front (no fault of the owner), but it took until almost 7pm before finally someone came to the flat to fix. We had to rearrange our plans because someone had to be at the property to let the maintenance worker in and this was inconvenient. This happened to be the same day we paid to have an extra cleaning of the flat, so the cleaning person had no hot water to clean the flat although we were not given any discount for this. I question how clean he was able to get everything with cold water. The owner finally communicated with me once the cleaner called him and told him about the gas/hot water issue. As for the stairs, they are very steep and dark unless you know how to turn on the lights before you go down. My mom and dad, both in their 70s, had a hard time with this and stumbled multiple times, luckily not getting hurt. The location is very close to many restaurants and shopping, which was great.

Our family of 6 had a comfortable stay in Paris at the Gaite Paris apartment. It's old school, but that was what we were looking for too. It is a stairs up to the apartment, but once inside it felt a world away. Michael was on time and attentive, yet gave us space to live. Location is super. Not a tourist location, which made it all the better. The food street, the Marais, a walk to the Seine all within reach.

We stayed in this spacious apartment for eight days and loved the location and the space we had. There are three bedrooms in one apartment and one small bedroom and a futon/ living room/kitchen in the other smaller apartment. The description says five bedrooms but the one apartment is really an all purpose room with a bedroom behind it and a small bathroom with washer and dryer and a small kitchen. We were ok because we were a big family with five children and six adults. The larger apartment is lovely and has a big living room looking out on the park with a large dining room table and plenty of room for everyone. It is decorated nicely and very comfortable. There are many shops and restaurants nearby and a Metro station two doors away which was very convenient. Also, there is a Monoprix five minutes away which has a decent grocery store and is very similar to our Target stores only smaller. We enjoyed staying there and only had a few minor problems which Michael took care of quickly. If you have a large group, you will like staying there.
