About this house rental
Horseshoe House hosted by St James Vacation Homes
This fabulous home is only available for Monthly Rentals 31+ days with the exception of Masters Week.
Turning into the drive for Horseshoe House, guests will immediately know that they're in for a treat. The sparkle of water peeks from behind the towering hardwoods that frame this sprawling 5-bedroom, 4-bath family paradise that sits on almost an acre of lakefront property. With over 150 feet of deep water frontage, views from this delightful vacation property are unparalleled and come from multiple vantage points: two screened porches, multi-level wraparound deck, walkout terrace, and a private dock - all facing southwest for soft sunset brilliance.
The spacious designer interior of Horseshoe House compliments its mile-wide views. Without a doubt, the gathering spots will be the kitchen, upper level living area, and screened porch, all connected by an open-concept floor plan that maximizes natural light and a panorama of Lake Oconee. The screened porch just might be the favorite “room” of the house, as it brings the outdoors in while offering shade and bug-free lounge time. Plop into a swiveling cushioned rattan chair or enjoy al fresco dining under the soft breeze of ceiling fans. (On quiet mornings or evenings, you might even see deer crossing the property; the home's wooded front yard is a frequented by a doe and her two fawns.) Two doors on either end of the porch lead to the living area with its vaulted wood beam ceiling, log fireplace, and large flatscreen TV with sound bar. There's enough seating for up to 8, including two pneumatic recliners that adjust with the touch of a button. A farmhouse table for 6 transitions the space to the dining area and is just a few steps away from the oversized island that anchors the kitchen and accommodates 7 barstools for mealtime overflow. Plenty of appliances are available for use: stovetop oven, microwave, side-by-side refrigerator, dishwasher, and two kinds of coffee makers (drip and Keurig). There's also a propane grill on the deck for lakeside BBQs. For a large crew, an ice machine is located the adjacent laundry room, where a full-size washer and dryer wait for water-logged swimsuits.
Also on the main level are the master suite and two guest bedrooms. The master suite boasts a king bed, office area, flatscreen TV, and storage closet. It connects to the wraparound deck and also has a private entrance to the second screened porch area, complete with oversized lounge chairs, ceiling fans, and a swing! The en suite bathroom is just as spacious, offering a double-sink vanity, jetted soaker tub, and spa shower. On the opposite wing of the main level are two guest bedrooms, both with comfortable queen beds, storage closets, and flatscreen TVs. They share a jack-and-jill full bath with a spa shower.
The terrace level features an enormous bunk room that begs for kids and teenagers to enjoy its amenities: 3 bunk beds, 2 queen-sized sleeper sofas, 2 recliners, ping pong table, flatscreen TV, storage closet stocked with life vests, and a full bath. There is also a side-by-side refrigerator (identical to the one in the kitchen) for snack and drink storage – perfect for a quick refuel when swimming off the dock. A second master bedroom is located just down the hall and comes with a king bed, reading chair, flatscreen TV, and a private bathroom. A secondary staircase connects to the main level.
The walkout terrace level provides more outdoor seating and is an ideal spot to reminisce in the rocking chairs. It's also steps away from a hammock, outdoor shower, and the private dock.
With so much at-home coziness, guests may not have much reason to leave Horseshoe House, but for those who want to explore the community, there is plenty to offer! The gem of Lake Oconee is, quite literally, at your backdoor with 19,000 acres of water to explore by boat, ski, kayak, or canoe. If you're feeling a little water-logged, 21 miles of hiking and biking trails wind throughout Reynolds. For less strenuous entertainment, there are 10 on-site restaurants among the Reynolds properties, each one meticulously designed to accommodate a variety of palates. Be sure to check about guest access during Covid, as some venues may be restricted to members or residents.
Just outside the gates are plenty of restaurants and retail shops. Right off Linger Longer Road, stock up at Publix, try one of the blends from PJ's Coffee of New Orleans, or peruse the charming home accents at The French Hare. South on Highway 44, Harmony Crossing is home to some of our favorites, including LaLore Café and 44 Marketplace. We also recommend visiting the historic districts for a unique shopping and dining experience. Be sure to check out the local events, festivals, and farmer's markets, too!

“Clean as a whistle “was my first impression . Great space for a fun, family reunion.

The location and lake view are amazing and hard to beat. The home, however is very outdated. That would be fine as long as it still felt clean. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. It felt dingy and for this price/night, that should not be the case. Particularly the outdoor porches- very dirty and we had to sweep all cobwebs and seat cushions in order to sit outside. We also swept docks and decks bc it was clear no one had stayed there or used them for sometime. We skipped the porch off the master bedroom altogether because It was so dirty. The carpet is very old. The basement where the bunk beds are smell like mildew. A broken ping pong table was in the bunk room. Responsiveness from PM was hit and miss. Very disappointed with the accommodations for the price.

Labor Day Fun
My family was looking for an end of summer getaway that wasn't too far away from home. This lakefront home was just what we needed. We loved the screen porch and the close proximity to the lake. There were adequate cooking utensils, dishes, and cookware. We loved the open floor plan of the upstairs. The pictures are a little misleading on the downstairs bonus room - the space is a little tight but we made it work with 5 teenagers. Our biggest issue was that the owner's boats and jetskis remain on the dock during your stay. It does cut down on your view if you are sitting on the dock but we also brought our boats and jet skis and it made it very crowded around the deck. Also, it was a busy weekend on the lake and the water was very rough which caused a lot of commotion on the dock. I have been to Lake Oconee many times and the lake is always enjoyable but it does get rough on holiday weekends. Overall we had a wonderful weekend. I would definitely stay at this home again and would recommend it to others.

Great home for multiple families
Great neighborhood and quiet location. The backyard, dock and cove area great for hanging out and swimming. Short drive by car and boat to boat rental location. We had college, high school, and middle school kids who had a blast.

lake House
The house was a grrr place to spend time with family. Renting a boat with skis and tube, etc made the trip worthwhile. No complaints on the house but their cleaners should have come by to get the inch of pollen off all patio furniture. Won’t be an issue any other time of year.

The home and room arrangement were very nice and a good fit for our large extended family. The kitchen and pantry were somewhat cluttered and we had a hard time finding places to store our groceries and supplies. It was convenient to the lake. The porches could have used cleaning.

Our family gathered here to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. We found the house to be exactly what we needed for our family of 12. The kids loved the ping pong table, and having a room where they could get away from the adults. One disappointment in the house was the musty smell downstairs when we arrived. Would have been nice to have that cleared up before we arrived. The kitchen was stocked well, but we would recommend getting more forks & spoons. The living room was a great area where we could all be together! We loved the porch where we could sit & see the morning begin & to watch the kids in the water...only down there was limbs on the tree that prohibited some to see the full dock. We enjoyed the water, but would have been more enjoyable if there would have been paddles to go with the Kayaks on the dock! We expected them to be there since it was in the contract. I sent a text to the company, but had no response. We rented a boat a couple different days for about 4 hrs (hint:if you rent in late afternoon, you can have the boat until around 4 the next day! We found this quite helpful!!) Our overall stay was wonderful! Restaurants: Our anniversary party was at the Boat Island Grill House. We enjoyed it very much. Good food! Nice waitress. Thanks to our Rental Family for your beautiful home!

We had a great time staying in the Horseshoe House. It had everything you could want for a large family. It was literally right at the water, nice dock, massive deck system, truly magnificent. That being said, any property needs a little repair work occasionally. It had a wonderful whole house stereo system that didn't work. There was a huge storm a couple of days prior to arrival, and while I'm not sure if that was the cause, the back yard and dock were covered with what seemed like mosquitoes. The maintenance person brought us some cans of spray but it really needed professional treatment. I was a house that could hold 18 people, but only had 8 forks. Seemed strange. At the end of the day these issues were minor and it was a great week. P.S.- It is right on a very busy part of the lake. That could be a plus or minus, just be aware.

Our stay at the horseshoe house was ok. The house is spacious and is pleasantly located on the lake. We enjoyed fishing from the pier and spending quiet time on the wrap around porches. The house is an older home and could use some renovations. The floors made creaking sounds in certain areas when walking. Both the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms need plumbing fixture updates. The house was clean and presented no safety hazards. Overall, we enjoyed our family gathering in Greensboro Ga.

My colleagues and I were looking for a weekend to get away from the city and relax. We found the Horseshoe House absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. The house sits right on the water in a small cove off of the main lake. We spent most of the day floating around the dock in the water in complete relaxation with no boats coming in close to us. We rented a boat for the other part of the day and were able to pick people up right from the dock and allow everyone to have a chance out on the water for awhile. The house itself was clean and had plenty of towels for the group. We had a mix of couples and single folks, so the bedrooms worked out perfectly with the rest of the group staying on the bunk beds and pull-out couch in the large game room downstairs. The large kitchen worked out well for group meals. Some neighbors are not too far from the house on the lake, but we felt that we had our own escape without any disturbances. Overall, it's perfect for a group relaxation trip!

We had a great visit and the house was wonderful! It was very easy to get to and great access to the lake. The house is a great layout for multiple families. One couple complained of a clogged shower in the basement, but that was the only complaint the entire visit. I would definitely recommend this house to friends. It was large and very open.

Everything about the house and property itself was fine, but I have a real problem with the communications with At-Home Vacations.. I called Tiffany Jones number () on Thursday morning (5/12) to ask if it was possible to inspect the house early, to determine what supplies we would need to bring. The At Home operator said she would have Tiffany call me. I never heard from her. I again called Friday morning (5/13), and told the operator that I had not heard from Tiffany. She said she would check in to it, and definitely have Tiffany or someone else call me. I never heard from her again! Then on Sunday morning, I called to see if a late check-out would be available. The person who answered said she was an answering service, but she would have someone call me in the next 30 minutes. AGAIN ... I never got a call back!!! I'm not sure if Tiffany ever got my messages, or what else could have happened. Even if my requests were not possible, all someone had to do was call me and explain. All I know for sure is ... that is no way to treat a customer!!

The Horseshoe House was just the right size for our family of 14. The adults had their own beds and the bunkroom was a perfect size for 7 kids. The inside of the house was great and we didn't need a thing to enjoy our time there. We enjoyed sitting on the dock and watching the sunsets. The outside of the house could use some cleaning and the outdoor furniture needs new cushions. We had a wonderful time and would go there again.
