About this house rental
Our home is Craftsman-style - open and comfortable, on the Payette RIver. Tucked in the forest downriver from the Shore Lodge with a spacious deck that looks out over the river below - the beauty and tranquility here make it the perfect retreat and a great place to celebrate family and friends being together. We are in a quiet residential neighborhood, with lovely full-time neighbors, so the only wildlife we want here are the ospreys, deer, songbirds, and the occasional fox.
The 2,100 sf main entry level features 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a spacious great room with solid cherry floors, large kitchen with island and barstools, a walk-in pantry stocked with more kitchen appliances and extras, and a laundry/mud room. 10 ft ceilings and 8 ft picture windows looking east at the river and mountain views brings in nature's beauty. The 4th and 5th bedrooms are downstairs in a finished 800 sf daylight basement. A queen bedroom is next to a full bath. The 5th bedroom is an open living room area next to the queen bedroom, with a twin bed, recliner chair, and 65" TV. It's a great suite for families with children who want a quiet separate area. A self-inflating single mattress is provided, along with bedding for it, bringing the total sleeping capacity to 10 people.
SNOWMOBILERS: Yes, there is room in our U-shaped driveway for trucks and trailers, BUT, our full-time neighbors are disturbed by the noise and exhaust generated by idling diesel trucks and/or snowmobiles being moved into the garage after dark.
If you bring your own sleds, you must agree to not start or run their engines or truck engines after dusk.
KITCHEN: open to the great room; fully equipped with all the tools for gourmet cooking, including a Cuisinart, large Ninja blender, pressure cooker, big turkey-roasting pan, enameled dutch oven, etc. We have granite counters, 2 sinks, custom cabinetry, and an island with 3 tall bar seats. Art tile backsplash with custom bronze tile and hardware. Dimmer switches throughout.

Living room: sofa, wide snuggle chair and ottoman, plus a leather recliner. A new 77" SONY OLEDTV, AppleTV, Surround Sound speakers. High-speed Wifi, and YouTube TV and Netflix subscriptions. The river rock fireplace has a gas log insert that warms the room very quickly with a glowing fire and built-in fan.
Master bedroom: View windows face the river. California King natural latex bed, large bathroom with heated limestone floors, a separate toilet room, walk-in double showerhead shower with ceramic and bronze art tile, and a walk-in carpeted closet. The bedroom has a door out to the deck.
2nd bedroom: at the front of the home, King bed.
3rd bedroom: Queen bed, dresser, and desk.
Guest bath: tub and shower, 2 sinks, and a linen closet. Next to the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms.
4th bedroom + 1: In the private suite downstairs - an 800 sf daylight basement. The bedroom has a Queen bed and adjacent full bath with shower/tub. Also downstairs is a bonus room with a 65" TV and one twin bed that serves as the “+” bedroom. A self-inflating air mattress is provided with bedding for a 10th guest.
Upstairs laundry room. Washer/dryer, Iron and board, lots of coat hooks.
A two-car garage opens into the house. Remote garage door opener provided. Beach chairs, towels, bicycles, and coolers. are there for your use.
HANDICAPPED: There are 2 stairs at the front entrance to the home, and from the garage, there are 2 shallow stairs.

This was our first VRBO experience and we could NOT have made a better choice! After initially booking with a different property, we discovered that the pictures vs descriptions were vastly different and reviews from previous guests supported our discovery. :(
After cancelling that VRBO and then pivoting to our booking with Ken and Valerie's property- we knew we made the best decision right from our very first communications with them. They made themselves available for every question this nervous bride-to-be had, and went above and beyond to make sure we had all the information we needed.
From the first step in the door, my family and friends from Ohio (some of which had never been to Idaho) were literally awestruck with not only the detailed beauty of the home, but the porch that overlooks the gorgeous Payette River. We enjoyed the space so much that we cancelled all of our week's dinner reservations in McCall and cooked homemade meals in the gourmet kitchen.
As a biologist that works with birds we spend almost every waking moment on the porch birding, and loved the surprise visits of deer crossing the river in the morning mist with their fawns, and 3 handsome young bucks that would graze in the bushes on the rivers edge.
We were over the moon to know that we could provide an unforgettable experience for our friends and family that will be talked about for years to come. Thank you Ken and Valerie!

This really is a five star house and location. The owners do a good job of stocking the house with everything you need -- from first aid kit to fully stocked kitchen and pantry. Our family enjoyed a comfortable Thanksgiving holiday here.

We have been coming to McCall for 15 years and this is the nicest place we have stayed. It was very clean, excellent choice of cookware. Even a ceramic dutch over which my husbands loves to cook his sourdough bread in. The Basement room was perfect for my daugher and her 2 little ones to be away from the noise during nap time. The only thing that would have made it better is an easier way to get down to the river. We tried twice but the kids couldn't make it. I know its a structural thing and can't be helped. Other than that it made our stay there memorable once again!

This house was perfect for our trip to McCall! Super clean, well stocked, and plenty of room for all. We loved sitting on the back deck. It was so peaceful watching the river. We would definitely stay at this home again!

We loved the area , house, community. We all fit comfortably in the property and enjoyed dinners on the deck- the only issue- it was hot the days we rented ( in the 90s) and we were all uncomfortable. Watch the weather - it can be Hot in July.

This home is perfect for 4 couples. We stayed on a long weekend snowmobiling. Driveway is not wide at the base to enough to take trailer around and thru, we had a 30ft gooseneck enclosed and a 28ft bumper enclosed, but backing one down each side was easy and we had plenty of room.
Home was well set up. Plenty of towels, sheets.
Kitchen had everything you could want, from pans, baking sheets, bowls, gadgets. Would love to stay here again and hope to!

This property was the perfect place to have Christmas! We had 9 people (20-62 yoa) (friends/family) and there was plenty of room to spread out. The house is gorgeous, pictures don't do it justice. The kitchen is stocked with almost everything you need, bathrooms are well stocked, linens are available throughout the house. Other gestures, such as binoculars, batteries, games, were a nice touch. Communication with the host was A+. This is a fabulous property, not far from town, but far enough you feel like you are away from people. This property comes highly recommended by our group!

The house - exquisite with a great deck overlooking the river. The view - spectacular. The interior - artistic, welcoming, very clean, incredible tile and wood work, wonderful heated floor in the master bathroom. The accommodations - spacious, comfortable beds and furniture, lots of bath and kitchen towels, very well stocked kitchen and pantry. The hosts - engaged and responsive. This is a terrific property. If you stay, notice the small things, like the brass inserts between the tiles - created by the owners, the binoculars for viewing wildlife (we see regularly saw deer, often crossing the river), swivel chairs for enjoying the incredible outside view or chatting with someone inside. We unreservedly recommend this vacation home.

We loved this place--it is so beautiful. The view off the back deck (and from the master) is awesome. Big house, beautifully furnished, great kitchen to work in and lots of nice extras in the pantry. Super clean throughout. As it was a cold, wet dreary weekend, the heated floor in the master bath was appreciated! The 3 spare bedrooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. We will definitely stay here again! Kudos to Ken, the owner, who was available via his private cell. He answered promptly and the issue was solved immediately.

Our family of 6 adults ages 25 to 62 thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The house is even more beautiful than the photos. The best part was the private view of the river from the main rooms of the house. We didn’t mind the one rainy/snowy day because staying in was so cozy and relaxing.
The kitchen was the most well equipped of any VRBO we have ever stayed in. Even the knives were sharp!

This home was perfect for our group of 6. The kitchen is gorgeous and incredibly well equipped with absolutely everything you need to prepare wonderful meals together. The dining area was a great gathering space for meals and late night game nights with our family. This home has great separation of space with each of the bedrooms and the bonus basement space. The linens were quality, beds comfy, view of the river was beautiful. These homeowners have done a superb job in decorating and creating a welcoming, comfortable and restful space to enjoy away from home. The home is located close to town in a quiet neighborhood and we are REALLY looking forward to visiting again in the near future. Ken was attentive, responsive and available for our questions. I highly recommend this home. It would be a wonderful place for a couples getaway or girls weekend as well as families with older children. The only thing that could make this home better would be a hot tub overlooking the river.

Perfect location for a weekend boys’ snowmobile trip. The setting on the river is unbelievable. The house was clean and well-equipped, and the long driveway was exactly what we needed for our large trailer. We would definitely come back! Fabulous stay.
