About this lodge
Welcome to Eagle's Nest, a purpose-built vacation rental cabin. It's near our Tree Top, Fish Trap and Green Castle cabins and, like them, is also river-front, sitting up high above the river with an area to walk down to the river's edge. It's part of an 18-acre "fish trap" location that was used by ancient American Indians hundreds of years ago.
Eagle's Nest is a large beautiful property with a modern beautiful exterior and interior. Hardwood floors, stainless appliances, flat-screen TVs - everything is new, luxurious and waiting for your personal enjoyment. The pictures capture some of the beauty, modern design, nature, and open spaces. Take a look at those and drink it all in!
In terms of size, Eagle's Nest can fit larger groups of 10 but would also work for a couple or small family. There are three (3) bedrooms and two (2) full bathrooms. The third bedroom is the large loft area you see in the living room pictures. There is a queen and two twin beds in that loft area. The main two bedrooms both have queen beds.
You're going to love your time here. As we work to enhance, expand and grow this property, we continue our mission to be your weekend river cabin of choice. Book now before your dates are gone!

We had an amazing weekend here! House was clean and spacious, and had everything we needed for a smooth and fun stay. Highly, HIGHLY recommend! Just got home and am already thinking of when I could go back.

I stayed at Eagles Nest for the weekend with my family (5 people) and we had such an amazing time. The property was absolutely beautiful, cozy, quiet, and private with great amenities such as canoes for us to use, a hot tub, grill, fire pit (with fire wood included), a screened in porch, deck, access to the river for boating and fishing, and so much more. The property was clean and spacious and felt cabin-like with the wildlife decor inside which I loved and had gorgeous views of the Shenandoah river. We had such a great time and didn't want to leave! We will definitely be visiting again!

Eagles Nest was better than we even imagined! The house was spacious and clean. We had beautiful views of the river. There's nothing we didn't like about it.

Great place to stay, private, beautiful views, very nice accommodations, well stocked kitchen, very clean! Will stay there again when we return to the area if available!

Honestly everything about Eagle's Nest was amazing. We have been coming down to the Shenandoah Valley since 2005 and this is by far one of the best houses that we have stayed in. The house/linens were clean, kitchen was well stocked, and the views were mesmerizing. The entire property and surrounding houses within the community all look very well cared for. Communication with owner/management was very easy and timely. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for opening your home to us.

Our family of 8 adults, 1 teenager and 2 small dogs spent 3 nights after Christmas at Eagle's Nest. It is our family tradition. We have been renting cabins in Luray around Christmas for 20+ years. We always choose a different cabin, having only stayed in the same cabin one time, until now. We will definitely be booking Eagle's Nest again. We had an amazing time!
The cabin has incredible views from all rooms! It was very clean. Everything worked properly. We did not have to reach out to the owners or house manager for anything. We had plenty of room. It was nice that the hot tub was under cover so that we could still enjoy it while raining. The deck with the river and mountains (in the distance) behind was great for family photos. Our only complaint was that we had to leave.

Really enjoyed the house.

It was great.

Eagle’s Nest was everything it claimed to be: a lovely, well-built and beautifully maintained home. It was outfitted with everything you need to enjoy the Shenandoah River and surrounding areas. Ample good quality linens, towels and activities were also provided. We highly recommend staying here. There are six properties on the site, but they are well spaced so it’s easy to feel you’re on your own. If you have trouble with stairs, however, you’ll want to select one of the lower properties. Ours shared a very steep staircase to the water front that we didn’t mind because of the beautiful views we had, but this could be a deterrent for others. It was great having the canoes on site for our daily river explorations. Make sure you visit the nearby Luray Caverns!

One of my family and I best experience we had as a family staying at Eagle’s Nest property. This cabin was so cozy! Everything was clean and well organized.A lot of little surprises games boards, river view ,dog friendly ,canoe to ride and surrounded by woods love it all nature .My kids loved getting on the hot tub wish we had stay longer then just the weekend will be back it was absolutely beautiful and will recommend freely. (Thank you so much Eagle’s Nest 🦅.)

This is the 2nd time we rented Eagles Nest this year. We went in the summer and enjoyed the river and this time I’m the fall to enjoy the foliage. The cabin is clean and modern. It has everything you need. In my opinion it’s a little under priced. We’ll be back at least once if not twice next year.

Very nice property by the riverside.
A lot of space for a big family and perfect for your furry friend to play and run!

We immensely enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Eagle's Nest property. The large windows and deck offered an excellent view of the Shenandoah River and hills in the background before the trees leaf out. There were many different types of birds that could be viewed from the couch with binoculars (bring your own). The cabin was clean and well cared for. The kids tested out tubes in the river (a bit cold). The water is shallow but rock formations are difficult to navigate by foot. We tried the Kennedy peak trail which is about a 15 minute drive from the cabin on the west side of the river as an alternative to Shenandoah National Park.

The house and porch were so nice. We saw a bald eagle sitting right on a branch out front. We came to visit Shenandoah. The house was about 30 minutes from the park entrance. It’s about 15 minutes into town and to see the Caverns. We did not use the kayaks but we did use the hot tub and that was great. We enjoyed the fireplace as well. This is not a rental that keeps spices in the pantry. If you are big cookers you must pack ahead. We never had to reach out to management for anything. Everything was easy and clean.

The cabin/house was very clean and very comfortable. Sometimes when you stay at places like this the mattresses are not comfortable, but the sheets and mattresses were very good quality and made for a good night of rest.
Everything was very convenient and there was nothing missing, from all the necessary cook ware, to even extra blankets and towels. They really thought of everything.
I had four 16 year olds with me and they loved every second. They enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and the canoes while I watched movies and sat on the balcony.
I will definitely stay here if I ever visit the area again.

Everything was spot on in the description and even better in person. The setting is spectacular and the home was clean and spacious enough for our two small families. Great amenities like the hot tub, fire pit and all the kayaks and canoes. Sadly it was December so we did not venture into the river but we will be back to this place for sure!

My six-person family reserved the cabin for four days to spend Christmas together. We drove a great distance with a cooler packed with meats, vegetables, pastries, and other items to cook and bake together. The oven had failed to work when we arrived, and the dishwasher had a puddle of stale unclean water (not soap or well water). More importantly, the oven was unable to keep the temperature stable.
The house manager's immediate answer was surprising and extremely revealing of the experience we had signed up for.
They argue that stale dirty water in the dishwasher is typical. There was no accountability, and they blamed earlier visitors they were probably using tin foil without realizing it was a gas oven.
Utensils in the kitchen are worn out, and pots and pans should have been replaced years ago. Bring your own cook ware and utensils; this is not the place to cook and share a meal with family and friends.
When guests contact Shenandoah Rentals, they are asked if the problems persist after the next guests arrive. This means that no proactive checkout mechanism exists to confirm the accuracy of their listing.
We recognize that getting equipment repaired at this time of year might be difficult. We are not picky and do not have high expectations, but we felt obliged to report our experience given the minimal effort made by all parties involved to assure our satisfaction.

Shenandoah Rentals was one of the most communicative & organized property management groups I have worked with & Eagles Nest was amazing!! Pilar at SR was exceptionally responsive, accommodating & helpful. There is an on site manager while staying at the unit, but we didn't need him (although I am certain if we did, SR standards would have been met!).
SR sent multiple messages with reminders about the property amenities, location & tips. They advertised accessibility, & I double checked because we have booked places before for one of my friends who is ina wheelchair only to arrive and have nmsteps, no rails, no ramps, etc., but Eagles Nest met the challenge: ramps were deployed when we srrived, bars in the bathroom, as well as a roll in shower (if you have a portable shower chair take it)!!! We were all wowed by that touch and so excited our firend could easily navigate through the house.
And the view !!! Wow, you just can't get enough of it!! It was stunning!! The foliage changed before our eyes like magic.
The house was clean, linens were provided and in well condition, kitchen was equipped, & the river babbling was just the right kind of white noise to hear every day and night as we spent hours on the deck (lower level deck where the hot tub, fire pit & screened porch was not accessible).
SR gives fair warning about cell service, etc. We all used wi-fi calling and were able to get calls out/emails if desired. We didn't turn the TV on once so I have no feedback on that! They do provide a fun selection of DVDs if you're interested in watching something.
Bottom line: whether or not you need wheelchair accessibility, Eagles Nest is a win as well as Shenandoah Rentals!!

What a perfect place for a relaxing long weekend. The view was incredible and I loved all the windows looking out toward the river. The house was very clean and had all the essentials. We had a question about the hot tub and that was handled very quickly. We would definitely stay here again.

My family stayed for a long weekend. Perfect size for the 5 of us. Kitchen was well equipped and a large dining room table for gathering. It was spectacular to wake up to a beautiful view of river. Overall, a wonderful stay. Small issue was the abundance of ants in kitchen drawers; however, this is a cabin so battling them may be common for this time of year (late summer).

Great location, roomy cabin and close to the river for fun activities!

I stayed at Eagle's Nest with a group of friends and had a wonderful experience. The location is great - right on the river, about 15 minutes from town and about 30 minutes to the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. The house was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The views of the river from the house were beautiful.
There was so much to do between hiking, exploring the Luray Caverns, canoeing on the river, enjoying fire pits and the hot tub. We wish we stayed longer!

…was incredible! The cabin was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. My husband got to fish at the river while my daughter played in the water. I got to relax and enjoy the decks and the hot tub. We played corn hole until our arms fell off and giggled the whole time. My favorite part was waking up to the sunrise over the river and watching it all from the bed. It was just what this tired of the daily life needed. Thank you, Eagles Nest, for the memories.

Very beautiful views
We were bummed about the river not being kid friendly. But, it's a beautiful view and property. We had a blast having a fire and playing corn hole. We also went on little nature walks. They provided a ramp for my mom in a wheelchair and the accessibility was nice.

Cannot describe what a perfect setting and Fantastic Time at Eagles Nest on the Shenandoah River. The cabin was spotless with all the amenities as advertised. Everything exceeded our expectations.

Great house with great views, would highly recommend. Dog friendly. Canoes, life jackets, and water entrance provided. We have stayed here the last 4 years and always enjoy coming back!
4.8
Great spot on the River. We stayed over Memorial Day weekend. We fished and used the canoes every day. The stairs up from the river are no joke but views from the house are worth it. The level with grill, hot tub, screened in porch and fire pit was perfect for getting off the water. We will definately be back!

Lovely well equip cabin with great amenities.
4.8
My family and I like to travel often. But with COVID uncertainty, we are staying far from cities and airports. That's where we thought a cabin with a view would be a great idea. Boy, were we right picking this place! The place was clean, cozy, loaded with all the amenities we could think to use, conveniently secluded, and wow....what a view! We usually camp once a year. We may need to make this place our new annual thing.
Thank you for the warm hospitality and fast responsive customer service. We will be back, 100% guaranteed!

My friends and I stayed at Eagle's Nest for a weekend away, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! The house is gorgeous with lots of great usable outdoor space and a beautiful view of the river. It's also close to downtown Luray, Shenandoah River Outfitters, and plenty of other activities within a short drive. I definitely hope to stay here again.
4.8
My wife and I along with a friend couple had a great stay. Perfect weather and perfect views.
4.8
One of the best vacation homes I've stayed in. The view and ambiance was absolutely perfect and so needed during COVID. Relaxing, right on the river, views of the mountains, hot tub, amazing fire pit and screened in porch. This house has everything. Great sized kitchen for cooking meals.
Some folks have noted that it's difficult to get down to the river, but it looks like the staircase from the house to the river was recently installed and while it's large, like 7 or 8 flights, it's really easy to get down now.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Eagle's Nest again and am actually trying to talk my husband in to another visit this winter :) LOVED our stay
4.8
Our weekend at Eagle's Nest was fantastic! The cabin is peaceful, well-kept, and very inviting. The view from the cabin is absolutely gorgeous. If you are looking for a piece of heaven, away from your busy life, Eagle's Nest is the place for you.
My favorite part about Eagle's Nest is drinking hot tea on the balcony which overlooks a river that is perfect for kayaking and soaking your feet!
Thanks for the wonderful vacation, Eagle's Nest! Definitely will be coming back!
4.8
The house is immaculate. Not being able to stream content from the internet could be an inconvenience for some, but it forced our teens to play games with us and just enjoy hanging out together. View is great... love the hot tub. Lots of decks with beautiful views. We really enjoyed our quick getaway for a few days. Highly recommend.
4.8
This was my families second stay. We rent two houses next door to each other so we can easily run back and forth for visits. We especially enjoyed the hot tub.
4.8
We had a great visit over Thanksgiving. The house was a great size for our group of 6, with plenty of room to spare.
Pros:
Location - gorgeous views
Plenty of seating in both living room and dining room
Large kitchen
Amazing fireplace with an optional blower
Nice back deck with 4 Adirondack chairs overlooking the river
Comfortable beds and great showers
TV's in both bedrooms if you want to escape for a bit, plus TV in living room
Living room sofas have recliners - unexpected perk that we loved
Grocery store is a short drive away, less than 20 minutes
Cons:
Kitchen was well stocked with cooking pans, but short supply of drinking glasses
I hesitate to put this as a 'con', but kitchen is not stocked with even basic spices. This is the first rental where we didn't have salt, pepper, cooking oil, etc. Not a deal breaker for us but something to note.
Firepit, grill and hot tub are around the back and down steep steps. Walk out the front door and head to your left. Not a major inconvenience, but I wish I'd known prior.
Garbage - either $5 a bag, or you drive it yourself to the facility. Facility is VERY close and not an inconvenience, just odd that we weren't allowed to even leave 1 bag behind without paying $5.
We will DEFINITELY be back!
