Very old building. No air conditioning except for bedrooms, which was fine for sleeping but otherwise, we were quite miserable. No air movement in the house so very hot and muggy. Also, they list that they have a washer, so I brought very little clothes thinking I could wash and rewear, but nope. No washer. The caretakers are pleasant and response to questions or issues, (and I don’t know exactly what their roles are), however, they told us they would take our trash out daily and rake the beach daily and that didn’t happen. Not to mention that you need to throw your used toilet paper in the trash, not the toilet, and little bugs were coming to the trash in the kitchen. And, lots of seaweed would wash up on shore and it stunk. Would also have liked them to sweep the stairs to the decks as well as the decks, on a daily basis, due to sand tracking. There was a small foot bath at the bottom of the stairs, but that wasn’t changed for up to 3 days and it was full of sand and seaweed. Not exactly able to clean our feet in it prior to walking on the decks or in the house. I would NOT recommend this establishment.

Our trip was awesome. When we arrived we met Martin and his wife who are the caretakers of the property. They helped us navigate the area and even set up a couple of the trips that we took. The house was super easy to find. It was stocked with everything we needed to have a great time. I loved sitting on the water and have my coffee in the morning. We also used the kayaks and paddle boards a few times. While there, we kayaked to island across from house, we booked an all day fishing excursion, we shopped, we snorkeled, and we went on guided trip to the Mayan ruins. I would highly recommend Belize and this rental.

Excellent location and amenities. Close to a number of great restaurants!

The house was exactly as described and perfect for us. Nothing fancy but had everything we needed. The kayaks and bikes were a huge bonus! It’s a little far from the villlage but we had everything we wanted within walking distance (great restaurants and a small grocery store). Hopefully we can make it back someday and I would choose this house again.

We had a fantastic stay. Breath-taking view every morning. Our only negative comment would be loud road noise, from the bus stop and speed bump directly out front. Other than that…..perfect!

We enjoyed our stay. It is a very nice property. One week is not enough time. We would love to visit again ♥️

Our stay at Casa Beya was wonderful. The house is very cute and full of artful details. You can see it was built with love. There are good restaurants near the house, and a 10 min car drive to the grocery store. The highlight was the swing bed on the porch and the view of the night sky from the beach, we even saw a falling star. Martin was very helpful arranging for day trips. We would consider coming back to Casa Beya if we return to Belize.

The location is terrific and lived up to the photos and description. Martin and Diana were wonderful on site to provide local information and available any time we had questions. Having bikes to ride, kayak to enjoy, and SUPing at the ready, was ideal.

Nice beach house with lots of room. Only downside is that it's close to the road and there was a lot of road noise from trucks and busses in the morning.

We rented CB as an anniversary getaway. Based upon the photos & description, we planned on spending time swimming & relaxing on the beach & dock. While we did have privacy & there are a lot of positives about the home, many exterior features are in need of repair/maintenance. This may have something to do with the property’s current listing status for sale. There apparently are plans to repair/refurbish things after our stay.(?)
The location is great. As others have said, great pizza across the street & delicious dining up the beach at Maya Beach Bistro.
Communication was off, as the caretaker (Martin) was unsure of the number in our party upon our arrival, despite our previous notes to property mgr. Martin also neglected to inform us that there was a make-shift ladder for the dock. (There wasn’t one attached per the VRBO photos.) He did apologize for not telling us sooner (than our last day)!
On arrival, we were super sad to discover a plastic-laden beach. Martin said a storm had washed it in the day before, but not sure why he hadn’t cleaned it up?! (There was a LOT.) My husband and I are environmentally conscientious, so we cleaned it & continued daily to clear the plastic from both CB’s beach & next door (vacant). AFA other aspects of cleaning, we discovered a petrified avocado in a cupboard (Eww!!) We also found ourselves having to sweep the deck regularly because of the decaying thatched roof.
Missing ladder aside, the dock flooring itself is in need of replacement. Half of the beach/dock furniture was broken & in need of repair.
The interior of the house is cute & colorful as pictured. Well stocked kitchen. Bed is just ok, but sleeps well after rum punch, no worries! Pillows should be replaced. BUT, the view from the master is awesome. Truly wonderful to wake up to each morning!
Having the large water dispenser is also a nice touch. Wish there would’ve been working bikes. (A slight inquiry was made by Martin on our arrival of our intention to ride, but it seemed it was going to take some repair for them to be available to us, so we let it go.)
Blessings bakery/sweet rolls & Marina’s fruit stand in Seine Bight are fab.
All in all, a lovely location, a sweet house with incredible views, yet a potential that is [currently] left unfulfilled. We would love to return with our kids if the house was a bit better maintained & some effort (outside our own) was made to remove the plastic from the beach each day!

House is a work of art but needs some TLC. Having direct access to the beach was a big plus. Being on the peninsula though means you’re also on the main road which is loud. The bowling alley across the street is loud as well with patrons. There is no generator so when the electricity goes off you not only lose that but also water. We still enjoyed ourselves with activities and restaurants near the house and in the village.

Exceptional location on the water
We loved the location and private dock. The property manager Martin and his wife Diana made things so special. We really enjoyed the place and to have paddle boards and kayaks to get out on the water made it so nice.

This is such a great property. The house is so unique and fantastic. Lots of fun toys and Diana and Martin are excellent. I highly recommend it, we loved our stay.

Everything was great, but….
The house is as described. It is unique, clean and has a beautiful beach. The sargassum came in and wrecked a few days for us, it was smelly and piled up on the beach. The beauty part of that is the pier, which has a ladder out far enough to get past the weeds. Martin and Diana were great, they checked with us every day and were very attentive to our needs.
The but….the property is for sale. We had 6 different appointments that the people only showed up twice. This was quite inconvenient, we had to make sure everything was put away and presentable (we are on vacay, sometimes that doesn’t happen), then they didn’t show. We sometimes left and sometimes we’re on the beach waiting for them to come and go. To me this is unacceptable and we will make sure future properties are not for sale prior to renting.

Beautiful, comfortable, perfect
Casa Beya was an absolutely perfect place for my family (two teenager boys and parents). It was comfortable inside, had an incredible number of outdoor decks with views and the picturesque location could not be beat. We enjoyed the water, hammocks, kayaks and the location near an amazing number of sea and jungle activities. Martin and Diane were warm, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Exactly as presented
I stayed at Casa Maya for 5 weeks. It was a great experience. Diana and Martin helped with everything from booking taxis to suggesting restaurants and activities. We rented a golf cart to get to and from PLacencia and walked everywhere else. The beach and dock were where we spent much of our days. We took several excursions. I recommend Taste Belize. We went with them to the spice farm and also to the cacao farm to make chocolate. It was easy to get fresh fruit and vegetables and local fruits in season. Also, it was lobster season which we really enjoyed. A new bakery opened within walking distance of the house which was terrific. We used the SUPs and the bicycles to explore from the seas and land. The house had everything we wanted. It was perfect for a long stay.

A Wonderful Experience
We stayed in Casa Beya for an extended period (June-July 2021) and my family of four (kids 8 and 11) had a fantastic experience. The house, village, country etc... were all exactly as described. We completely fell in love with everything Placencia and Maya Beach has to offer. We would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to unplug and relax!

Classic Beach House
Casa Beya is right on the beach with a great dock and outdoor porches, including a hanging napping bed. Even though it's right on the main road into Placencia, the traffic dies down at night and is pretty quiet. With kayaks and SUP's, it is a great place to wind down after climbing the Mayan temples inland. And it is a 2 minute walk to a wonderful restaurant, Maya Beach Bistro, which is open for all 3 meals.

We had a great stay at Casa Beya, and Midge plus the on-site managers were wonderful to work with. Location: we loved the location in Maya Beach and walked to the best restaurant on the peninsula, Maya Ocean Club, often and it was only 100 yards away. This location is NOT close to the main Placencia Village, which we were very okay with. We rented a golf cart for a few days, and it was a leisurely 25 min. ride to the main village. There was a basic grocery store a 2 minute bike ride away (bikes are provided). The House: The house has a great layout, and was very clean. If you are looking for luxury, go elsewhere, but we felt it was amazing value. The beds were very comfortable, and sheets were soft. The 3rd bedroom is up some steep stairs, and the bathroom for that room is downstairs, but since we only had 2 couples and a baby, it worked fine for us. The house is a little older, and had a few 'quirks' but it added to the charm. It was very CLEAN, which we appreciated. We especially enjoyed eating outside, which is actually on the second level, and worked well to stay away from most of the sand fleas. The kayaks, bikes, and paddle boards were an amazing amenity, and allowed us to go paddle with the manatees that swam by. The private dock was utilized all the time, and was a must for us! Only suggestion I would have is to buy some cheap ice cube trays: they provided plastic reusable ice cubes, but they didn't work to keep a drink ice cold. When they say 'pack light' they mean it - everything else is there!Personnel: The manager, Midge, was very helpful and has a great 'welcome packet'. They were able to confirm some additional questions I had, and do a pre-arrival grocery shop for us. Martin and Diana were the on-site caretakers and very lovely. They always seemed to pop in when you needed them to, and otherwise we had no idea they lived below us.

great area for traveling around the lower half of the country.
not too far from village where there are several food markets & eateries. loved the "hammock hut"! didnt like the sea grass. everyday we got a bubbler jug of drinking water. the main part of house was always hot, maybe thin out the trees between the houses to allow more airflow. patio & swinging bed got a great breeze. bedrooms were air conditioned, thankfully. loved to house colors & decor, very fun! would recommend this location but do need a car or golf cart.

Great place
We enjoyed our stay, but don't think I'd go again at the start of the rainy season. Waters were choppy several days - if you think the waters will be calm the next day, book that snorkeling experience! We missed our chance - not that that has anything to do with the property. Also of course, very hot and humid, the bedroom air conditioners could barely keep up. We did sleep with all the windows open a few nights, it was nice to hear the ocean. I loved sitting out at the end of the pier at the beginning and end of the day. It's like you have the entire Caribbean Sea to yourself - no cargo or cruise ships or airplanes with banners to mar the view, no stingrays or jellyfish to be careful of. Martin and Diana were great, do use their suggestions. Proximity to the adorable bowling alley and its food was key, along with walking to the little grocery store and of course the Maya Beach Bistro. Midge was great to work with ahead of time. Fully enjoyed our side trips to the Mayan ruins in the south and the Jaguar Preserve. Mosquitos not half as bad as I thought they would be, at least at the house.

Slice of paradise
This property was amazing. We came for a relaxing week with no particular plans. It was everything we hoped for and then some. Martin greeted us the minute we arrived. The property was easy to find and well maintained. There is a grocery store a couple minutes away for quick things you might need. I recommend going into Placencia if you are planning to stock up while you are there. It's only about a 10 minute drive plus there are lots of shops to browse as well. Our stay went too quickly and we are already planning to come back. We went snorkeling with eagle ray tours at Martin's recommendation and they didnt disappoint. The guide was very knowledgeable and knew right where to go to see everything. The SUP's were so much fun and a great addition to the house. Diana kept the house in great shape and was there every day to help us with whatever we needed. This was truly a slice of heaven and exactly the stress relief we needed.

Placencia paradise
This home is a treasure! The property is nestled among lush vegetation and feels secluded despite the proximity to Placencia’s main road. We got some great recommendations from the caretakers for local tours but could have easily spent all our time trying to use all the hammocks and seating areas. The kitchen at Casa Beya is exceptionally well stocked too. Beware though, procuring fresh fish was a challenge. Thank goodness for Martin the caretaker! We hope to return someday! The water is as warm as Belizeans are friendly!

A beautiful, relaxing location with great weather
I traveled to Casa Beya with 2 friends. We received the comprehensive brochure prior to traveling and this allowed us to plan our activities in advance and become familiar with our surroundings. It also made us aware of all the related hospitality in the greater Placencia/Maya Beach area.
Flying in to the Placencia Airstrip was a real thrill and our first impression of this tropical paradise.
Casa Beya provides a well equipped functional kitchen, living room area and sleeping area. There is plenty of places to go out and eat or if you choose to eat in there are ample grocery stores close by. We enjoyed nights out at the Tipsy Tuna, Barefoot Pub, Rumfish etc and many meals at the Maya Beach Resort . The bowling alley across the street makes a terrific pizza. We had perfect weather with 1/2 day of rain over the course of 9 days. There was a nice breeze coming off the water which kept us comfortable (didn't need AC) and made any insects a non-issue.
The highlight of my trip was the day spent Scuba Diving/Snorkeling at Silk Cay. We booked through GoSea in Placencia who were very affordable and provided knowledgeable instruction and well maintained equipment. We participated in two spectacular dives and were provided with a tasty lunch.
The maintenance of the property and building were provided by Diana and Martin on a daily basis. They were extremely helpful and did a great job looking after us.
We had a great time in a beautiful part of the world. I would recommend Casa Beya to anyone considering vacationing in this part of the world

Perfection!!
This place is amazing! The view was breathtaking. The ocean just steps away. The house was so fresh and clean - decorated in with a very funky, belizian feel with every amenity you can think of. The ocean water was the most beautiful turquoise I had seen and so warm. We took the paddle boards out and it was incredible. I can barely wait to go back...

Great family trip!
My family enjoyed an excellent week at Casa Beya. The location makes it seem very secluded although you are within walking distance to many great bars and restaurants. Lots of birds and wildlife in the area. The house was very comfortable and clean and Martin and Diana took good care of us. The layout of the house is very neat and gave everyone their privacy as the bedrooms are on different levels. The beach is beautiful and the ocean is very nice for wading and relaxing. Heard lots of warnings about sand fleas but did not have a problem the week we were there. The deck and outside daybed were the highlight. Plenty of cool ocean breeze to beat the heat of the day on the deck and on the covered dock area. The only downside is that we had to leave after a week!! Highly recommend and would love to go back sometime.

What a fantastic home on a beautiful property. Very gracious hosts and every need promptly met!
We loved Belize and this home and the hosts make us eager to return. Fishing and snorkeling excursions arranged by Martin were so memorable. We enjoyed cooking a number of our meals in this well appointed kitchen and then enjoying the sunset from the great dock. The stand-up paddle boards were so much fun.
The communication by the owner made the logistics for our first trip to Placencia so easy. We would love to stay at this exact property again if it remains available.

House is fun. Right on a beautiful Beach.
We had a wonderful time. House sleeped 6 adults and 1 child. The Caretakers were very helpful. Beach Bistro was unbelievable. Probably had 15 meals there. Also loved the Bowling Alley across the street for grub, drink, Sports on tv's, and fun on the rainy days. The House has quite a few little spots that you can sit and quietly read or rest. The deck was great for puzzles and game playing. Loved paddling out to the Island for snorkeling. If we were to go back to Belize we would not hesitate staying here again.

Terrifically Adorable!
Casa Beya was great. Read MUST at end. Caretakers Martin & Diana were willing to help with anything (phone calls, shopping, cleaning, cooking). Manager Midge emailed us a shopping list so we could stock the refrigerator. Kayaks, paddle boards and bikes! Decks, beach, hammocks & pier - great for lounging. The Maya Beach Bistro, just down the beach had the best food on the Peninsula,:coffee, breakfast, lunch & dinner, and you can use their pool. Rumfish in town was also a good place to eat. For lunch and night life, Tispy Tuna and Barefoot bars. You do need a car to get around, not a golf cart. There was a grocery store nearby but the best fruit stands (selection) are in Placencia near Rumfish. If you want fresh conch, fish, lobster, head to the docks about 3:00. There is a great locally made jewelry store across from Rumfish. Recommend hiking Antelope falls in Bocawina Rainforest. We rented a car from Barefoot rentals, which was a junker and eventually broke down the day before we left but they were nice enough to give us a ride to the airport for our flight and not charge us for not refueling the tank. If you need a large car for many passengers, you may want to rent in Belize City. We needed a car for 7 and Barefoot was the only one who could provide one. If you are interested in scuba diving, I recommend you say in San Pedro on Ambergris Cay instead. The boat ride to the best diving areas off Placencia are 1 hour and brutal (the boat driver goes full ahead and you are pounding the waves). Diving/snorkeling the "inner reefs" is not worth the price. Don't sign up for a manatee tour unless it's in the lagoon. Seagrape house can be rental with Casa Beya for a larger group. It has larger rooms, a screen porch and ping pong table. You MUST take precautions against the sand fleas. I took vitamin B12 staring a week before the trip and was slightly bitten. The others in my group did not take it and WERE bitten and suffered. Regular bug spray does not work. Coconut oil does. Read online for what else works. DO NOT try to pick up the fruit juicer with it's top on. It comes off and the container falls and you spill all the juice! The kitchen was wonderfully stocked. I'm a private Chef so that is a great compliment! If you are into cooking, bring your own chef's knife. We would recommend this place and stay their again. Enjoy!

Just sit back and relax!
5 adults just returned from an amazing week at Casa Beya for 2 birthdays! It was amazing, relaxing and felt like a home away from home. The dock is the place we hung out the most when we were at the house. The breeze is heavenly and the hammocks so comfy for an afternoon nap. The house has bikes, a kayak and paddleboards for entertainment or getting around and the water was warm and soothing. The property felt very private and is just perfect. We even had several visits from a beautiful iguana that hung out on the deck.
Martin and Diana were wonderful and made us feel at home. Booking and changes were made very easy by the owner, as well as billing and information. The owner and the caretakers are very amenable to customize your stay.
We did not rent a car and taxis are easy to arrange, however, I do recommend a car. It might be a bit cheaper in the end, depending on how often you go somewhere.
I would absolutely stay here again and wish I was still there now! Thank you to Midge, Diana, and Martin for a wonderful birthday week!
