Located only steps away from the daily farmers' markets and the shops and restaurants of Aix-en-Provence, in the heart of the Historic Center and off of one of the most active and beautiful squares of Provence, this Town house apartment in a former mansion features Classic style of elegant French town living, absolute calm, unobstructed garden views and a generous and wonderful layout. A truly rare find in a medieval city where light, quiet and views are very difficult to come by! To the right of the dining room, is the bedroom, with its high ceiling, authentic Art Deco chandelier, antique furniture and artwork from the region. The bed is a custom designed hand forged iron creation by a local artist and hosts a queen size mattress and box spring, fine quality linens from the US, down comforter and pillows. This lovely, well-equipped apartment is a true find. The hosts have thought of every amenity and the location is outstanding: near the markets, restaurants and the Cours Mirabeau. The owners are very responsive and communicative and provide a warm welcome. We can’t wait to return!

A great venue located in the heart of Aix. Really helpful owners, our train was late due to disruption and owners stay late just to make sure we were settled and welcomed

My wife and I enjoyed this apartment for the month of June 2023. Its location was great for us. Its entrance to the property door is right by 10+ restaurants. It is a short walk 2-3 minutes to the fruit, vegetable, flowers and fish daily markets. This apartment is the best equipped and organized for cooking and living you will ever find. It is a 6 minute walk to the Cours Mirabeau and the local Monoprix supermarket. ALL the appliances work great.
Holly and Jon the owners are very available by text or phone if needed. Just lovely.

Holly and Jon were wonderful hosts and were very responsive right from the initial booking to welcoming us to their lovely apartment. We had everything we needed while we "lived" there for over 2 weeks. Many times we enjoyed a meal, after shopping at a local market, while taking in the view from the apartment. We loved our stay, it was just what we hoped for and in a perfect location, and of course exploring beautiful Aix. Jeannie & Dave

The location is right on a square, but without the sounds since the apartment is nicely setback and surrounded by lovely green trees. Very unusual to have the setback put still in the heart of the city.
The hosts, Holly and Jon are both most delightful and are a wealth of information of the city and the markets, and honestly they do want you to enjoy the place, and are most helpful with any information you might want to make your stay unique for you. Enjoy asking and getting an insiders viewpoint.
The apartment is perfect. Lovely views and light from all the windows. The layout is perfect with 2 remodeled baths and a comfy bed. Great layout with a TV in the living space and plenty of lighting for reading in the bedroom. Also a kitchen with enough seating at either the dining table or counter.
Such a great location, many shops and markets right outside your door. Lovely comfortable place for an escape from the noise of the city of Aix but still being in the city. Easy to walk to fountains, cafes (get that people watching in), many food options, markets, shopping and small but fantastic museums. Fun to just walk and look - can't really get lost.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed the French feel established in the apartment. It was close to many landmarks as well as fine restaurants. Our hosts were welcoming. Guests need to be aware that you will be climbing stairs with your suitcase so be prepared for some exercise! It was a charming apartment.

Loved the apartment and the owners could not be better. They met us when we arrived and graciously arranged a taxi to the airport upon departure. The apt. Is in a busy and vibrant plaza with so many restaurants and the Aix area is totally walkable and enjoyable. The heat was brutal during our stay but one fan saved the day as well as the nice upgraded showers. The kitchen has been remodeled and more than adequately equipped. One caution note is the garden is “under construction” along with an apartment below. It was not at all noisy but does not have the ambiance we had hoped along with an access a bit rough around the edges/steps. I would not hesitate to return but being from a cooler climate it would not be for us in the middle of summer.
Nonetheless, this property is large, has character and will check most travelers to Aix boxes. This is a wonderful property!!

Paradise in Aix
This apartment is super comfortable and beautifully decorated. Because it is removed from the street, it is very quiet. The kitchen is well appointed and has a dishwasher. We were also grateful to have a washer/dryer in the second bathroom. Holly and Jon are gracious hosts willing to help in any way. They greeted us when we arrived, oriented us to the apartment and helped us with a taxi when we left. We hope to stay there again!

Absolutely wonderful!
A charming apartment, exactly as advertised in an amazing neighborhood. The hosts are lovely. We have stayed in many VRBOs, and this was the best of all!

In the middle of everything, away from the crowd
A very well kept apartment off a lively square. It is perfectly situated to to immerse yourself into the daily life in Aix. Walk around the block to the produce market, flower market or just enjoy the cafe culture in any number of charming settings. There is no shortage of restaurants nearby and It's an easy walk to all of the cultural and historical sites Aix has to offer. The proprietors are friendly and very well informed about the region.

A cool week in Aix
Best location possible for exploring in Aix and occasional day trips in Provence. Restaurants and bars outside your door in a unique pedestrian square. Markets and great shops within a short stroll. The apartment itself is generous in size, two bathrooms and a comfortable bed for two.

An excellent location in Aix
The property was well appointed and had everything one would need for a comfortable stay, including a fine mattress!
We would recommend to any couple who was fit and can handle the stairs leading up to the apartment.
Holly and Jon were most helpful and during the recent extreme heat dropped off another fan,.
We recommend Parking Pasteur and grocery and market shopping were all very conveniently close by.

Excellence in Provence
We had a wonderful and relaxing stay. Holly and Jon are wonderful hosts. The apartment is comfortable, convenient, and fully stocked. We’re more into foraging at the market and making a quick meal at home, this was soooo easy here. The daily market is right around the corner. Plenty of restaurants too.
We drove so we could go other places in Provence, with parking available under the plaza.
We would happily return.

Wonderful little place in Aix
The apartment was in a quiet courtyard off right in the middle of everything in the old center of Aix-en-Provence. Couldn't ask for a better location. Very cute and cozy. The owners are wonderful people.

A gem in the heart of Aix
Holly, an excellent host, was extremely helpful and very responsive to all our communications with her .
The apartment was scrupulously clean and very well equipped with all the amenities a traveler would desire. It was also roomy, comfortable and thoughtfully decorated. Although it is on Place de Cadeurs, a busy local eatery hotspot, it is set back by its garden and so, it is peaceful and quite. All the rooms are bright and airy.
A wonderful place to stay in Aix.

The apartment was very comfortable especially for a longer stay. Nicely decorated.
Be aware that parking is expensive and not included in the rental price. Also the apartment is on the third floor of a walk up building which adds to the charm but it is to be noted.

Great location in Aix-en-Provence
This apartment is in a great location in the middle of the old town. Aix is very walkable so we could do so everywhere. The bed and living room furniture were comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped.There was even a toaster and dishwasher! Plenty of linens and hangers, and even a second bathroom with toilet and shower if needed. There was wine and a bottle of still water to greet us. The owner met us when we arrived and gave us a complete orientation to the apartment and some dining suggestions. He was also very responsive to our few questions during the week. There were also restaurant cards and a Fodors in the apartment. The only negative was the second floor no elevator trek, but we did know about that in advance. Also it took a while to heat up the place, but it was an unusually cold early November and we finally did get it almost warm enough. If the second (really 3rd) floor location without elevator is not a problem would definitely recommend this VRBO.

Perfect apartment and location in an enchanting city.
The apartment is ideally located for exploration of Aix and a great home base for visits to Marseille, Arles, Avignon and the Luberon. The apartment is lovely, comfortable, well cared for and well equipped. The apartment is centrally located yet quiet for sleep. Cafes, markets, shopping are all close by. There is a nice blend of students and locals in the area. Aix is not over run by tourists as is Avignon. Holly is a thoughtful host. She suggested we take the bus to Marseille rather than take our car which was wonderfully convenient and quick. We were very happy with our stay.

This property is a 5 star property. Wonderful unit and location.
This property far exceeded our expectations. Unit is centrally located in Aix en Provence. You can walk outside and have access to great restaurants, shopping, long walks, and just exploring the beautiful city. Unit is spacious and nicely decorated. Unit is set back from the plaza and makes it a quiet environment. Windows throughout the unit bring in lots of light and beautiful garden views. Very nicely furnished.
We received a warm welcome from Holly and John and they both provided us with all of the information we needed for our stay. Holly is extremely responsive. If we return to this area again, I definitely know where my husband and I will be staying.
Thanks again Holly and John for sharing your beautiful apartment.

Perfect location
The 10 days we spent in Aix were wonderful. The apartment was in the perfect location to everything.
Fully equipped and clean.
You just step through the outer door and are in the heart of town.
Holly was there to meet us and explained everything we needed to know and was on hand if we needed her during our stay.
Even though the apartment had no air conditioning, the open window and cooler nighttime temperatures were fine. Fans provided.
A couple of nights were noisy from the restaurants close by.
We would stay here again.

Excellent apartment in old Aix. It would be very hard to beat
This elegant and spacious apartment is well appointed, well equipped and very conveniently situated in the older section of Aix. The owner is accommodating and within easy reach by phone and e-mail.

A perfect home in Aix
We felt very sad to leave this delightful property which was our home for a week in Aix-en-Provence. The apartment ticked all our boxes which included being full of character, a fabulous centre-of-town location, beautifully presented and extremely well-equipped. We felt very privileged everytime we arrived home, unlocked the gate and walked up the pretty courtyard path to the entrance - just like lucky locals! It was so peaceful despite being in the heart of the town, we loved the views from all the windows and it was so convenient having two bathrooms! Holly was a really lovely host - she gave us a great welcome to the property despite our arrival being much later than planned and was really helpful later in the week when I asked for recommendations for a celebration dinner. Aix Cigales was the perfect place for our special trip - so look no further and book yourselves in!

Wonderful Provençal Home
We very much enjoyed our week in Holly and John’s delightful apartment in Aix. Their welcome was warm and included a thorough orientation to the apartment and the city. Their recommendations of shopping, dining, markets were excellent and invaluable. The entrance to this beautiful apartment is through a big door off a busy square, along a delightful garden path and upstairs to the peace of our home from home in Aix. Would love to stay again. Highly recommended.

A stunner!!!
This place is simply amazing. It is absolutely central, right in the heart of things, and yet also a tranquil oasis. A dozen restaurants are literally right outside the door, while just around the corner are the famous Aix belltower; the Hôtel de Ville with its cafés and daily flower market, and the Place Richelme, with its lively cafés and daily (wonderful) food market. Aix's lovely cathedral, St. Sauveur, is about a three-minute walk in the other direction. But once inside the gate, you feel like you are in the country, with lots of plants and flowers in the garden and genuine quiet. Best of both worlds, to say the least.
The apartment itself is also the best of both worlds. On the one hand, it is full of Provençal charm, from the traditional red-tile floors to the high ceilings with moldings to the French-door style windows in every room to let in lots of light and air. On the other, it is extraordinarily comfortable and functional, from the excellent mattress to the recently-renovated bathrooms and full (and fully equipped) kitchen. Holly has clearly put a tremendous amount of thought into setting this place up and no convenience or comfort has been overlooked. The furnishings are not the usual low-end, let's-see-how-cheaply-we-can-do-this items you find in a rental... and it makes a tremendous difference. The apartment is spacious as well-- none of the claustrophobia you get in so many tiny little rentals. This is an apartment in which you can really spread out a bit and live.
We have rented many apartments in France over the years and all of them have been nice. But, truth be told, they have tended to be an A- sort of nice. There are always a few things that get in the way of a truly excellent experience: a saggy mattress, a bedside table that doesn't work, a wobbly coffee table, no place to stretch out comfortably to watch TV, a too-small and doesn't-really-work washing machine, etc. This place has none of those drawbacks; it is literally perfect. Probably the first apartment we have ever stayed in that truly earns an A+ rating. Bravo, Holly and John! Highest possible recommendation!
PS Holly is very helpful and professional and absolutely available if you need anything, which inspires great confidence. But she leaves you alone if that's what you prefers. Once again, best of both worlds!

A gem in every way
Add us to the list of rave reviews for this exquisite retreat. We stayed for a week and grew more attached by the day to its many charms — the tasteful Provençal decoration, the light and views, the incredibly quick access to Aix’s lively squares, markets and sights, the fully- and thoughtfully-equipped kitchen, and, less tangibly, the graceful comfort of a real home that it exudes. Holly and Jon were just the hosts you’d expect from such a place: gracious, personable, informed and helpful. We couldn’t have asked for better.

Truly beautiful and comfortable home away from home! The best!
Location, comfort, natural light, high ceilings and stunning attention to detail make this apartment feel twice its size and wonderfully enjoyable. Holly and Jon have created a classic modern apartment in the center of Aix's historic center. You are living in the midst of historic tradition while a lovely home awaits you at the end of your day. Holly offers hospitality and guidance par excellence! This is the best residence of a dozen or more we have rented through VRBO.

Beautiful apartment!
This was probably one of the nicest places we have ever rented while traveling. Holly and John met us when we arrived and were very helpful . The apartment is bright, spacious and very comfortable. Location could not be better! It s set back with a courtyard in front so that the noise from the street is muted. the apartment was well equipped to cooking meals in and restaurants were literally a stones throw away from the front step! Holly was very receptive to any questions that we had about the area and she really was a terrific host. Aix is a great base to travel from and an interesting city to explore. Thank you Holly and John for all your help! We will not hesitate to recommend this apartment to our friends!

Aix Cigales is like stepping into a dream!
Aix Cigales sincerely exceeded my expectations as a home away from home while visiting the South of France for the first time. I could not have stayed in a more lovely abode than this eloquent compliment to the truly quintessential provencal landscape of Aix en Provence. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and shown around this sweet and charming place. The path leading up to the front door was nothing short of magical, lined with lush green and a small table for two; we found our way inside and upstairs. The apartment has obviously been loved and all details seemed to be placed with great care and thoughtfulness. A laundry rack to dry delicates, a basket to take to the market to gather fresh foods for the day, and umbrellas by the door made us feel instantaneously comfortable as well as cared for. The rooms were clean and neatly furnished, the kitchen cabinets well stocked...and the windows! So much light and fresh air - I loved waking each morning and looking outside. Throughout our time at Aix Cigales, Holly made herself available to us always without being imposing in any way. She checked in on us midweek via email message, to see how we were doing and to inquire as to whether we needed anything or had any questions during our stay (although we honestly did not, given that everything seemed so perfectly prepared for our arrival). I appreciated her attentiveness and care. If ever I were to be blessed with the opportunity to return to Aix en Provence, I would without a doubt wish to also return to Aix Cigales. I am grateful for the opportunity to have shared this beautiful space and to have met such lovely hosts. With much gratitude, Rebecca
