The Space.
Casa Koala is restored by an acclaimed local architect and located in the beautiful Santiago neighborhood just a few blocks away from the lively park and square. This home has a beautiful and open flow all the way through the property. Walking through the large colonial doors, you find a airy, bright and spacious living area opening right into the light-filled kitchen and dining space. Just past that is a patio connected to a shaded courtyard and pool to relax and refresh in after an eventful day in the warm Merida sun. There is a lovely and quiet casita with direct access to the courtyard which is separate from the main house and protected from any street noise to ensure a sound night's sleep. We can either arrange two single beds or one king size bed depending on your preferences. The first floor also has a full bath in between the patio and the pool. The second bedroom is located on the second level above the kitchen and dining area. It has a balcony that looks down onto the pool and has a gorgeous view of the surrounding greenery, including a stunning red flowering tree hanging over the casita. In addition to the balcony, the room also has a private patio for some peaceful alone time and an en suite bathroom.

High speed wifi can be accessed throughout the home and patio. Cable and Netflix access are also provided.

Extras
This property has plenty of street parking available. We also have two bikes that you may use to get around the neighborhood and yoga equipment for relaxation. We provide you with kitchen equipment and appliances including a toaster and coffee machine so that you can fuel up with a satisfying breakfast to start your day. Coffee, creamer and sugar is provided -- no need to run to the nearest mini-mart for these basics. Also, every stay includes four free beers so you start start your vacation immediately upon arriving. Don't worry if you forgot your shampoo because both bathrooms are equipped with their own shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers. In addition to TV and cable there is a PS3 player to play movies or games which is also connected to the house WIFI. You also have a Bluetooth speaker to permit listening to your own music.

Burro y Flauta is a vacation property rental and management company owned and operated by ex-pats from the U.S. who have made Merida our home. We have traveled a lot and stayed in a variety of properties around the world, so we know what you need and want from your vacation property. Allow us to help make your visit to Merida perfect!

Location.
There are many restaurants, shopping, and various entertainment options within walking distance of Casa Koala. You can easily find a taxi on one of the busier streets and we will provide you with a number to call one if you wish. Uber and Cabify are available in Merida.

We will be at the property when you arrive and when you check-out. You will be provided with all of our contact information and will be available 24/7 in case of emergency and also for any questions you might have.

Extra things to note (extra fees).
Deposit: A deposit of $500 is charged and held when the reservation is made to cover any damage during the stay. It will be returned within 2 weeks of departure.
Pet deposit: Small (under 15kg) pets are welcome, but the guest is responsible for all damage caused by their pets and will clean up after their pets. An extra pet fee of $75 will be charged for those guests who want to bring pets.

Electricity is included for stays of 2 weeks or less; and for stays of longer than 2 weeks, no electricity is charged unless the usage greater is USD$3 a day for the 1BR or 2BR homes, or USD$5 a day for the larger homes.

Furniture and décor from pictures may differ. We are always upgrading and improving the look and feel of our property for the comfort and pleasure of our guests.

House Rules.
- Check in is available after 3pm. Check out is before 11am. We may be able to accommodate an early check-in if availability allows.
- Reservations during Christmas, New Year, and Semana Santa (Easter) require a 5 night minimum stay.
- We allow smoking on the balconies and any of the outdoor areas but it is prohibited inside the property.
