Blue Moon Cabana is a beachfront house for rent facing the Caribbean Sea in the lovely Garifuna fishing village of Hopkins, Belize.
The cabana is centrally located in one of the most popular areas of Hopkins Village and is within walking distance of restaurants/bars, shops, and other popular establishments. It has a full-service kitchen (cook not included!), 2 bedrooms with full-size beds, living room with full-size futon, and a tiled bathroom.
Enjoy your own private cabana right on the beach! You will no doubt be spending a lot of time in one of the hammocks out on the 8-foot wide covered veranda that spans the entire front and one side of the cabana. Surrounded by windows, you will enjoy stunning views and breezes flowing directly off the sea. Tastefully decorated and furnished with locally-crafted mahogany furniture, Blue Moon Cabana has everything you need to be comfortable and relaxed, while maintaining a Caribbean rustic-charm.
The cabana was designed with an open floor plan that allows guests to enjoy the fabulous breezes that flow throughout the house. The two bedrooms are separated by an enclosed bathroom, and there are bamboo curtain panels for each bedroom that can be closed for additional privacy.
Baby Blue Cabana is an additional (smaller) one-bedroom cabana on the property, including a full-size bed, bathroom, kitchenette, and front veranda. Situated behind Blue Moon Cabana, Baby Blue Cabana enjoys sea views, has a separate walkway out to the public beach, and is steps from the sea. Blue Moon Cabana is as described in its online advertising. Very well kept with no mechanical issues. Also well provisioned with kitchen equipment and other necessities. It is not resort-like. You are in the center of the town, You will have lots of contact with the local residents. We found them to be very friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to stay there again if I were to return to Hopkins.

Gorgeous location right on the beach. Cabana was very clean and tidy. Zero issues with critters of any kind. We visited the week of some of the hottest temps on record (last week of March) and were nervous about the lack of AC. The ocean breezes and ceiling fans worked great for keeping us cool. Loved the big porch and spent most of our time there. Host was great about providing check-in instructions well ahead of time and was gracious and responsive during our stay.
Cabana is in Hopkins proper, so we definitely got a feel for the local setting rather than the more polished tourist version. Easy walks to well-stocked markets, dinner options, and Thongs Cafe next door had great breakfast and lunch food.

Beautiful kid safe beach right out your front door! Great location, really cool little house, and Mirko can organize anything for you. The only downfall is 4am karaoke from the bar next door, but that only happened on Friday and Saturday, and if I hadn’t been travelling with my children, I might have gone over for a song.

We loved the house, the beach and hopkins!
Mirko was very helpful and always available when needed. We had to do some booking adjustments and he was always flexible and helpful!

Had a great time and it was a great place to simply unwind and relax. Had a few issues with noise from the little place to the north but the complementary ear plugs were greatly appreciated. Great location close to shops and restaurants and the kitchen is nicely equipped if you want to eat in. It was a little warm with no air but the sea breezes made for some comfortable nights. Would surely stay again.

We loved staying at Blue Moon Cabana. The location is excellent for walking around Hopkins as well as for activities outside of the village. Mirko was exceptionally helpful for scheduling tours and accommodating our last minute changes. He definitely made our trip very easy to plan.
The house itself is well kept and exactly what we were looking for. It definitely gave us the authentic belizean trip we were looking for. The view is exceptional!

From the pictures it seemed perfect, but it turned out to be a disaster.
1. They had rats. There were rat droppings everywhere. The night we realized there were rats, one of the rats jumped on the bed with my friend, scaring the crap out of us!
2. someone stopped by the first day we were there to essentially “spy” on us. That made me very uncomfortable. And from that visit the property owner messaged me to tell me I had one more person than on the reservation and that I needed to pay an extra daily rate for the person or they would terminate my stay. This person was rude and I did not appreciate the delivery.
3. There is no AC. This place was just hot the entire time except for the nights it rained. The fans did not help.
I would not recommend anyone to stay here nor would I stay at this place again.

Blue moon cabana was perfect location. Had everything i needed and was clean. Host was easy to contact and extremely helpful. I would recommend renting a golf cart or bicycle if you dont have a car. However taxis are fairly easy to arrange. I had a great time in hopkins and met alot of wonderful people ❤️

Communicate with and was quick to respond. We booked our tours and shuttle through him. We loved having the deck to chill out on, and the fresh coconut juice in the fridge for when we arrived. We’d stay here again.

Our family of three stayed here for our time in Hopkins. The cabana was well appointed, great location, walking distance to shopping, restaurants. We jumped in the sea every morning after our breakfast and loved having the beach as our front yard. Happy hour each evening on the veranda was so relaxing, as was falling asleep to the waves. The neighbor on north side of cabana plays radio at night so if that would bug you use the earplugs provided. We also had an issue with a critter joining our vacation (village life!) but was easily remedied with a live trap, which the host reimbursed and it did not put a damper on our trip. Mirko was easily reachable and helpful in arranging a snorkeling trip/day at South Water Caye with a boat, captain, and guide. Would definitely stay here again!

This was the perfect place for my wife and I, and our eight-year-old daughter. Located close to some good restaurants, and the beach out front is perfect. Somebody comes regularly to clean the beach and rake the sand to keep everything tidy. Patio is great for hanging out, and the cabana is cozy and inviting. Would definitely come back.

The place is right on the beach so you fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean and/or rain on the roof. Hopkins is low-key, great food, plenty of opportunities to do stuff or just lie around. We did both.

This was our third visit to Hopkins but our first time to stay in the village, not in a resort. It's a much more authentic experience. We enjoyed not having, or needing, a car or even a golf cart. Blue Moon Cabana is a short walk from two grocery stores, an ATM, a dozen fun restaurants, and countless produce-and-souvenir stands. We loved swimming on our own little stretch of beach, hanging out on the sand, enjoying the ocean view from our back porch, and walking to late breakfast and early dinner every day. We slept with the windows wide open and all the fans going - A/C is not needed. We had occasional passing rain showers that roared on the metal roof! Great for sleeping in this beautiful and clean little Mahogany bungalow!

The view was wonderful. We had our windows open the whole time to allow for the beautiful breeze to come in. The house had everything we needed. The only draw back is that you cannot park right at the house. We had to drag our luggage through the sand. It wasn’t far, just didn’t realize it doesn’t have its own way to get to it. First: Mirko was great to work with. He met us personally at the property upon check-in and check-out. Great communication before and during stay.
Second: The location of Blue Moon Cabana is fantastic. We could walk to restauarants and grocery stores and were literally ON the beach. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the moon rise over the ocean every night.
Third: Mirko and his team thought of practically everything. The kitchen was fully equipped with anything we needed. Then there were the little things like a first aid kit, coozies, clothes line pins, a cooler, coffee filters, bottled water system, books on Belize, even a yoga mat in the house. There were a few items: condiments, coffee, sugar, oil, seasonings, sunblock, aloe, lotion, bug spray, etc. that I'm sure were left by prior guests but came in useful.
Mirko had fresh coconuts from the property ready and cooling in the fridge upon arrival (and we got more a couole days later) which made perfect mixed drinks of coconut water, rum, and pineapple juice (not as heavy as a pina colada)
We moved to another area of Belize mid-week. Upon checking in my boyfriend said it was not nearly as good as Blue Moon Cabana..
Highly recommend. Next trip if we don't stay at Blue Moon specifically, we will definitely look for Mirko's properties to book.

The house is open, nice design everything you need Thongs, the best breakfast and lunch restaurant is one house over. They packed us breakfast for the days they were closed

Secret Getaway
When I was looking for a place to stay I wasn't quite sure of what I wanted, but I knew that I had to find something that my husband could get into the ocean any time he wanted. This trip was a surprise for him so he didn't know anything about Blue Moon Cabana until we got there. It was perfect. We loved it.

Mother Daughter Getaway
Beautiful beach front cabana. Near constant oceans breezes through the house. A great place to stay if you want to soak up the local culture. Bed are comfy and kitchen is serviceable. But the multiple restaurants close
by mean you can skip the cooking. Mirko was an excellent host with tons of info and advice. If you are looking for relaxing in the sand, this a good choice.

Great location!
Mirko was great helping me with everything! He helped with our flight from Belize Airport to Dangriga, shuttle transportation from Dangriga to Hopkins, and our fishing trip with Patrick. He was always available when I had a question, and even came over right away when the coffee pot broke with a new one.
I loved the location of Blue Moon Cabana, within walking distance to the grocery store, atm, and restaurants. The veranda was the best. We spent a lot of time out there on the hammocks. The cabana had everything we needed and was very clean. The breeze from the ocean keeps the cabana at a very comfortable temperature. We enjoyed our stay at Blue Moon and would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Hopkins. We can't wait to come back and stay at Blue Moon Cabana.

Perfect beachfront location
This is our second time visiting Hopkins. Last time we stayed at the Baby Blue Cabana in the back but this time we booked Blue Moon. The location is perfect. Right on the beach, in town, close to restaurants and the grocery store and a produce stand right across the street. We love being in town. Everyone is so friendly and the location can’t be beat. We can’t wait to come back and stay at this property again!

Loved this cabana and the location in Hopkins
LOVED this cabana with it's beach location, shaded veranda, and the sound of the waves and the sea. We especially enjoyed the veranda and spent many hours talking and reading while listening and watching the waves. We loved being in the village of Hopkins, enjoyed the local restaurants and the local culture. The cabana was super clean, Mirko was very helpful, reviewed everything with us, and was available if we needed him!

The Blue Moon Cabana is a lovely place to stay for a vacation in Hopkins. We enjoyed being able to walk everywhere including out the door and into the ocean. The Cabana itself is great- comfortable, with all the amenities you need, reliable wifi, and a delightful veranda to enjoy for meals, games, reading, etc. We would definitely recommend Blue Moon as the place to stay in Hopkins.

This cabana offers unobstructed views of the sea along with the sound of waves that can be heard day and night. It is centrally located in Hopkins - walking distance to many excellent places to eat. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a laid back trip to enjoy the local Garifuna culture.

Cottage on the beach
Great location within a stones throw of restaurants and the Main Street. The breeze from the ocean keeps the place cool, so no A/C was not an issue. Clean, rustic charm.

Excellent beachfront
Clean and even better than the pictures tell. Excellent beachfront yard but Hopkins is noisy from the roosters and birds but wasn’t much of a problem. The deck was also fantastic! Highly recommend.

We spent two delightful weeks at Blue Moon Cabana and felt very well taken care of. The property is charming and well-maintained; I've never been at a place that had virtually everything we needed; and I recommend it highly.

Clean, safe and beautiful...
The description is accurate and the Blue Moon Cabana was immaculately clean and well kept. The property was also well groomed and made for a comfortable stay. We had a very quick trip for a wedding but our time there was enjoyable. Yes it was hot and no there isn't AC, but the breeze blowing in at night made it comfortable for sleeping. Mirko gave us all the info we needed to have a safe and fun time and next time we plan on staying long enough to have some adventures. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you for everything Mirko!

Fantastic deck. Beautiful view.
Great stay. House was perfect for our needs. Saturday night was tough to sleep with the Easter celebration but it was fun to see the vibrant side of Hopkins after a couple of quiet days. The deck is a fantastic retreat. Mirko was very helpful. We would go back.

Awesome
Stayed for 18 nights at Blu Moon Cabana and had a great time. The location of the cabana is perfect since it is right in town so there are many places you can walk to and to go to the south end is only a $5us cab ride. As everyone has said before there is no need for AC since the wind blow constantly off the sea so it’s always cool in the cabana. I won’t go on repeating what everyone else has said but I will mention the rooster and the sand flies. The rooster is a pain. Crows at all hours of the night until it’s throat is too sore to caw anymore. If there was a rooster assassin in Hopkins he would have had work. The sand flies are an itchy pain. Like everywhere with sand and sea they are there. Make sure you bring bug juice in the form of a cream. That’s the answer and spray does very little

Peers - 7 foods was good but server was grumpy
Innes - 5 food was ok but slow , drumming great
Jungle Jeannie’s- 5 food was ok but really weird atmosphere
Hamanasi - 10 food was fantastic with really cool restaurant...little pricey
Lucky Lobster - 9 food was good, great atmosphere, great service
Loggerheads - 8 great burger and ice cold belikins
La Trattoria Romana - 10 great Italian food, bruschetta unbelievable
Chef Rob’s - 10 food amazing, great atmosphere, little more expensive but worth it
Curve Bar - 8 good food and service, put the hockey game for us which was awesome
Mangoes beachfront bar - 7 just had nachos but cool bar out of the way in the south
Coconut Row - 8 good food, rum punch a must
Thongs - 9 great breakfast spot
All in all the food is great with many choices...do yourself a favour and go to Hopkins, stay at the Blu Moon Cabana and enjoy the wonderful people and great weather as well as the many things to do in the area

Great for our family
The set up of this cabana was great for our family of 4 (2 kids ages 8 & 10). Kitchen was well-stocked (which was nice after starting out in a place with only 4 plates). The porch/balcony was my favorite spot! Vert easy to set up private tours with the property manager. Would stay here again.

Absolutely Amazing
This house and the view from the back deck are absolutely amazing. Every detail has been attended to as well. There was fresh fruit and ear plugs on arrival. Plus everything was within walking distance. We can't wait to return!!
