About this cottage rental
No detail overlooked! A serene custom-designed studio retreat in the treetops of Volcano, Hawaii. Tree cottage includes a beautiful kitchen, spacious bathroom with indoor/outdoor shower, private driveway, top-level lanai off the living area for viewing the unique local flora. Interior is mid-century tropical with pristine hardwood floors, hanging rattan chair for daydreams, queen-sized bed, and bistro table setting provides an intimate setting for morning coffee, or evening dinner for two.
Relax in the tranquility of the ohi'a and hapu'u trees native to this unique part of the world, while enjoying your favorite creature comforts.
The tree cottage is 300 sq. feet, custom-designed and adorned by the host/owner providing a more personal experience for the guests. Amenities such as an easy to access entrance, beautiful decor, a well-appointed kitchen, consistent hot water, electricity, fluffy towels, ceiling fan and comfy bed make a luxurious take on the treehouse experience we all dream of experiencing.
Coffee, tea, and oatmeal are also provided for morning foraging. :)
The living area has glass french doors that welcome you in to the cottage. Once inside you'll be inspired by the beautiful pitched pine ceiling, large windows and 8" sliding glass doors providing a perfect vantage into the trees. At this height you can see the colorful birds flitting from tree to tree and the clouds rolling in from the coast.
The kitchen has hardwood flooring, custom cabinetry and quartz counter tops. It comes complete with a four-burner gas stove, small fridge, full-sized sink, coffee maker, and toaster oven.
The bathroom has a lovely tiled shower with pebble floor and a rain shower head for an incredible experience. The big windows, flower-shaped vessel sink, quartz counter tops, tiled floor, and fluffy bath linens provided give the bathroom the feeling of a beautiful, relaxing spa.
The outdoor garden is spotted with new, young plants but still evokes a feeling of privacy, peace, tranquility, and a change of pace from everyday life.
House water is potable and chemical-free. Piped in from the outdoor rain catchment system, the water is purified with a UV system and filtered.
The tree cottage was built by a local contractor, engaging local businesses for the materials. Shannon's hands-on management (even cleaning between guests!) and pride in ownership for the property results in a tree cottage guests can feel comfortable staying in.
*For the comfort and safety of guests, personal belongings and the property the exterior of building has surveillance monitoring.

I loved the tree house, so cozy and comfortable. Very convenient to the National Park and many other sites.

Very lovely place in the middle of the nature. Very accessible and easy to get to the volcano national park

The treehouse was amazing. Minutes from the Volcanos Park entrance was great for us. We would enter the park before 8am and almost no one else was there. The cool temperature (60°F) around the treehouse was great for sleeping.

We enjoyed our one night stay in the Treehouse. It was very romantic with natures music. Very clean and very close to the Volcano National Park.

We were only able to stay one night in this beautiful cottage. It is unique, quiet, well maintained and fully stocked with all you need. The kitchen has all of the amenities necessary to meet your needs. Beautiful surroundings with quick access to Volcano and the National park. Really enjoyed our stay. Thank you - Randy & Susan

We were there in February and it was rainy and quite cold. The room although very nicely decorated was cold and the small heater was barely helpful even though the room is small It was damp and the small dehumidifier really didn’t help. Every day there was moisture dripping down inside the entrance sliding glass door and it smelled musty. We actually didn’t want to stay there and cook because it was not comfortable to be there. We were there for 5 nights and although we asked for and got extra bath towels, they didn’t dry because of the temperature and dampness. There were several lights out on the outside steps up to the room making it difficult to see. That said , the decor is nice and new items in the kitchen. The surroundings are beautiful like rain forest . Don’t go in the cold wet weather, summer might be good. It’s very close to Volcanoes National Park

It’s right up in the tree tops with bird songs and tree frogs! Conveniently close to the national park. Nice shower!

This property is very cute and in a convenient location if you’re visiting the national park. The host has thought of all the details you need. Didn’t need air conditioning we actually used the heater a little during our stay. If you enjoy birdwatching you can enjoy honeycreepers and other birds outside your windows! We would definitely stay here again!

What a great place to stay at the Big Island. This place has a great view and is real cute. Perfect for a couple.

Perfect location to visit Volcano National Park. Get up early, drive 5 minutes and have the volcano, craters and lava tubes to yourself. The tree cottage itself is clean, updated and really feels like you are within the rainforest. Highly recommend!

The unit is quiet and cute, and had everything we needed before we went to check out Volcanoes National Park. I would recommend it to any couple who is in the area looking for a place to sleep, make a meal and grab a shower before exploring the park.

We stayed a couple nights in this unique property. Due to being located in a rain forest, it feels damp much of the time. There is a space heater which really helped. It is a very cute property and perfect for 1-2 people. There is a stove and toaster oven and a small fridge with very little freezer space. It worked out for us but may not if you planned to cook there most of the time. There is no TV in case this is important to you. We enjoyed playing games and the beautiful surroundings . It was very close to Volcano National Park which was great.

This home is in a perfect place to relax. Loved hearing the birds singing and the flowers are beautiful. Kitchen is sufficient for cooking small meals but a microwave would definitely be useful for any leftovers. The only drawback is the moisture in the house does tend to make everything smell a bit musty. I know that this is hard to control since it is in the rainforest but recommend a larger dehumidifier. Overall this is a wonderful place to stay and I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay near Volcanoes National Park.

My husband and I loved staying at this quaint home in the forest. The space heater and mattress warmer kept us super cozy all night. It's the perfect place to stay if you plan on visiting Volcano National Park.

We enjoyed our stay at this cottage. We stayed for two nights which was the perfect amount of time. We were able to go to Hawaiian Volcano National Park multiple times. The national park is so close that we hiked in the morning, went back to the cottage to change to more appropriate clothes, then drove back to hike more. It's about an 8 minute drive. I loved sitting in the hanging chair reading a book after a long day of hiking. There aren't many restaurants in this location compared to other places on the island but we had two of our best meals during this part of our vacation. We highly recommend Thai Thai Bistro and Bar.

Such a great space equipped with everything needed for my 4 night stay! Several days of sun and warmer temps made it possible to even enjoy the outdoor seating area below. The wraparound view from every window is amazing and I enjoyed seeing the Ohia Lehua, the songbirds who visited, and the sparkling raindrops in the morning. I used the heated mattress pad to take the initial chill off the sheets, but slept great in the cooler evening temps! The space heater was perfect to take the chill out of the room on early mornings, but really wasn’t needed beyond that. I can’t wait to visit the Tree Cottage again!

Very cozy stay on the eastern side of the island. It's quite close to the park entrance and to the restaurants in the town of Volcano. We enjoyed our time here!

This is a lovely, private cottage in a forested subdivision. The cottage has the feeling of a treehouse. It is very well equipped and clean and comfortable. We especially appreciated the mattress cover warmer, for the chilly nights. Very quiet, you awake to birds singing. Close (3miles) to Volcanoes National Park. Only thing I would suggest is that you provide bath soap or bodywash.

Sweet little tiny house. We loved to stay there..

Super adorable treehouse cottage! Shannon left no detail untouched like all the reviews said! Super clean, super adorable! Falling asleep to the sound of the rain, and frogs every night was magical! Being close to Volcano national park was perfect for hikes. All the directions and updates for instructions of how to use things were perfect while we were there. Would absolutely stay here again if we ever are lucky enough to visit the Big Island again!

It’s quiet and secluded. It feels like being in the middle of nowhere even though it is just a few minutes away from things

The stove was difficult to use. The WiFi was not reliable. Batteries in candles not working. Could really swing in swing chair.
Thought there were trails within walking distance

The cottage is situated in a remote place which makes you think you are in a tropical jungle. The sounds of the frogs at night becomes this soothing background noise. And when you wake up its like a tropical forest of giant trees and a variety of flowers. I would stay here again and again specially if you will be exploring the Volcano national park and Hilo. Thank you Shannon for the awesome experience!

This treehouse is cozy and charming. Nestled in fragrant gardens and close to VNP it provides the perfect place to get away from it all.

This place is perfect! My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights while exploring the park and surrounding areas. It’s a short drive to pretty much anywhere you want to go on the east side of the Island. We explored the park, went to south point/green sands beach, and also went to the farmers market in Hilo. This property is tucked away in a lush forest that provides you with privacy and tranquil sounds. The cabin was very clean, comfortable, and honestly just what we were looking for. The communication with the host was easy, very clear, and kind. I’d give this place 10 out of 5 stars!!!

This was our second stay at the property and it was perfect again! I would not stay anywhere else in Volcano. It is beautiful, clean and perfect for two people!

The Tree Cottage was wonderful. We had no trouble finding it or checking in. Shannon has thought of everything in this fun little space. From the tea kettle to the little space heater to everything one could need in the kitchen. We loved sleeping "up in the trees" listening to the rain on the roof and the frogs in the trees. It's super close to Volcano village as well as the national park.
