We loved our trip! The house was very clean and well appointed. The Orchid Hale is a special gem. We loved being out of the commercial zone, enjoying the beautiful property, wonderful sunsets, and listening to Coqui Frogs at night. The beach and snorkel gear provided were a big plus.

Beautiful place, amazing location was secluded but short walk to fantastic dining and shopping. Loved every minute. If noises bother you, roosters and Koki frogs could be an issue. I didn’t mind either. We hope to return some day!

We had a great experience. The property listing and pictures were exactly what we’ve enjoyed during our stay.
We’ve walked the property every day and our grandchildren have really enjoyed the trees and beautiful flowers.
Thank you for everything! Will recommend!

This house was MORE than described...a beautiful, beautiful home with everything we needed for comfort AND fun. We appreciated the sand chairs, umbrellas and cooler, as well as floaties. There was no skimping on toilet paper, paper towels, or garbage bags. They even provided some laundry soap. We wondered why they had earplugs in the bedrooms....it was the evening frogs...LOL..After night one, we enjoyed falling asleep to their music. The gardens were lovely..and the views devine! Kudos to KonaCoast Vacations for the welcome gift, fluffed pillows and flowers and plants on the tables. We felt truly pampered!?

The location was exactly what I was hoping for, close to everything but felt like a far away land. The sunsets on the ocean from the screened in porch were amazing and the acre of tropical landscaping did not disappoint. We all agreed it was a very special place.

Stayed here with my parents, my sister in law, my wife and our daughter. Everything about the stay was great and the property management was the best we've ever had. Less than 15 minutes to respond ton any issues and issues were fixed right away.
The property is large and secluded with amazing views of the water and sunsets. The one downside is that the location is about 15 minutes away from everything like beaches, major stores etc. There is a small area for coffee and food nearby though that can be walked to. Otherwise the amenities were great and we would definitely return.

This property is it true Hawaii Island escape. Sitting on several acres surrounded by fruit bearing trees, stunning vegetation, manicured lawns, and stunning views of the ocean. This authentic-style Hawaiian home takes advantage of the cool trade winds allowing you to become part of nature with absolute privacy. Dining on the larger Lanai is breathtaking. This property includes a complimentary concierge who will help you plan your entire stay on the island. We will most definitely be booking this beautiful property again on our next day on the main island.

Our 1st vacation as a family, and we had an amazing time staying at this location. It was a lot more and beautiful than expected. The experience here was great with so much to see and do. Neighbors were very nice and welcoming! It was also a great place to start the day and plan our day-to-day adventures. Definitely look forward to staying here again in the future! Mahalo (:

The property was beautiful! We loved the location - not close to a beach, but on the mountain side surrounded by coffee plants and lots of other lush vegetation. Not only was the property gorgeous but we enjoyed the daily visits from a couple of chickens and a bunny. Our little granddaughter was very excited about the animals! The house was very comfortable and well-appointed, with an inviting zen-like feel. Dinner every night on the lanai was a must so that we could watch the spectacular sunsets.

Everything about our stay at the Orchid Inn was stelar. The property is gorgeous, inside and out. We spent most of our time enjoying the lanai, watching the animals and taking in the incredible view. The house is gorgeous inside, plenty of room for the five of us. We had all the amenities we needed - a fully stocked kitchen (even Tupperware and to go mugs!), beach supplies (chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, cooler), and plenty of outside seating. There were even a couple small tables with chairs nestled into lovely corners of the yard. The property is 15 minutes up the hill from downtown Kona and grocery stores, and a short walk down the driveway will get you to the little art district of Holualoa where you’ll find coffee shops and little boutiques, even a small general store. We would recommend this property to anyone, and hope we can make it back for another trip. It was my parents’ first time in Hawaii, and they both want to stay at this property again. It’s a mountain oasis, and made our trip.

Away from the hustle of Kona, this property sits on the side of Mauna Loa in an arts village called Holualoa. Even being away from the town, there are still expansive views and it is one of our favorite properties on the island. Great communication and easy to get into, although make sure to follow the directions to the place that are sent by the manager as Google Maps can't get you there.

We enjoyed the farm setting of this house. Frogs sing at night and roosters wake us up in the morning. Gorgeous view from all the windows. Very comfortable house and beds at the same time.

Perfect for our group of six adults. We loved having meals on the lanai and the glorious sunsets.

This property was exactly as described and more. All the amenities included! We had boogie boards, beach, chairs, and beach towels, washer and dryer! All the appliances work fantastic and it was a nice surprise to have a coffee press! The view is amazing! Beautiful way to wake up every morning with the light coming in from every window, hearing the frogs, roosters, and everything else come to live each morning was perfect! Never slept better! The beds were super comfortable everything was clean and tidy. My son proposed to his girlfriend at the botanical gardens, which made it even more special. Play games at night and we have plenty of room for six adults. Thank you thank you! I will definitely recommend and if we ever go back, we would love to stay again. Amazing vacation we will forever. Have memories there.

This property was magnificent. It was quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of any city life and sitting just on top of the small village of Honolua. The frogs sang you to sleep and they did leave a large box of earplugs for the roosters in the morning. Great property and would definitely stay there again!

After the hullabaloo of travel to the island and trying to find this accommodation by the light of the moon, when we arrived, we were gobsmacked by its beauty. The midnight frog songs and morning bird chorus were mesmerizing. What an absolutely perfect place to call home for our stay in Holualoa.
This accommodation is wonderful. We felt a warm welcome and were sad to leave.
Directions could be more clear especially to find it at night. But the house had everything one would need and more. It's super private and the lanais look down on the property's own mini coffee plantation & beautiful landscape and with views to Kona and the ocean below.

this house is off the beaten path but close to everything. we had plenty of room and everything we needed. every evening we would all line up on the deck to watch the spectacular sunsets over the water. tge privacy and views from this house are stunning. we had a wonderful time spending Christmas with our two adult children. we would stay here again!

To be honest the first time I stepped into the home I was questioning my decision. I quickly processed that this is a home for Hawaii and not Kansas City. We grew to love the place quickly. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. I was prepared to listen to a lot of Roosters crowing based on other reviews, but that was not the case at all. We had one small problem with a toilet, and it was fixed immediately. It is a little hard to find and you have to drive past two other homes to get there. I would stay here again.

We really enjoyed the property. The inside of the house was perfect for us. The location not so much.

we loved staying there. The entire property was amazing, filled with fun little surprises like seeing the white rabbit all the time and a wild boar in the neighborhood! I even enjoyed the frogs at night.

We were very happy with this rental property! Everything was comfortable and well stocked. One of our favorite features was the deck area with a table and chairs to relax and play card games...the area was well screened, so that there was no problems with bugs, etc. but was also surrounded by a beautiful, large, red-flowered plant which attracted lots of beautiful birds and nature. As well, the grounds of the house were a very special experience for our family. There were absolutely beautiful flowers and plants as well as fruit trees, coffee trees and a few cool critters here and there, including a lovely white rabbit. Just fun to take walk around in the morning with a coffee in-hand. Yes, there was the sound of nature at night -i.e. frogs and such - we just used the ear plugs provided at first and didn't even really notice the sounds by the time we left. Lastly, we really enjoyed the temperature...being slightly higher-up in altitude we found it to be a great location to cool off after a hot day on the beach. At the same time, it was still only about 15-20 minutes to everything. One more thing, we loved the art stores and such within easy walking distance of the house - approx. 10 minute walk. I would give this house more than 10 if I could!

It was nice staying at a place when you wake up and really feel you're in Hawaii. Sunsets are beautiful and you can see it from master's bedroom, living room and downstairs bedroom. The place is clean. I just wished there was an AC (however there are fans in the garage you can use) and the downstairs bedroom has access from the main house. The place is safe and is well-equipped with necessities. Don't forget to check out the garage as the property management supplied some noodles, boogie boards, etc to use. This place is very spacious. Property management response is adequate. Thank you for letting us stay!

Wonderful stay on the Big Island
Orchid Inn was a beautiful place to stay on the Big Island. The location was a touch hard to find the first time, but then we appreciated being up the hill with fantastic views. It's a short drive down to Kailua-Kona and we used it as a springboard for trips to the Kilauea, Hilo, and the north shore. The screened-in lanai is fantastic. The kitchen is well supplied. Good washer and dryer. Just perfect. The frogs and roosters are a bit loud, but we got used to them (the ear plugs in the downstairs apartment were appreciated). We'll stay here again if and when we come back to Hawai'i.

A Slice of Paradise
I'm so happy we decided to stay at this location and not in Kailua proper. It was only a short drive to all the major attractions and conveniences of greater Kona, but the property gave the illusion of seclusion on the mountain. It was quiet, peaceful, colorful. There's wide variety of flora on site, and a fair amount of fauna, too. I personally loved the frog serenade each night and rooster chorus at dawn. (There are earplugs in the home for those who didn't.) We enjoyed several breathtaking sunsets from the lanai. The early morning vista, with the water glistening in the distance, is equally as beautiful.
It is a short walk to the center of Holualoa, an artsy hub with a neat vibe. There are a few galleries, boutiques, and a great coffee shop. If you're lucky enough to visit in the beginning of the month, you will enjoy the local food vendors and music of First Friday.
The home itself is clean, spacious, and fully-stocked with anything you might need for your comfort. The cooler temperatures at that altitude make AC unnecessary. The window screens and ceiling fans help to push air around, otherwise it might get a bit damp. The value of the wrap-around lanai (open and screened) cannot be overstated.
We would certainly stay here again and recommend it for anyone looking for a central, yet peaceful spot from which to enjoy Hawaii Island.

“Head in the Clouds”
High on the mountain with its head in the clouds sits a lovely 3 bedroom 3 bath home with modern kitchen and open air layout. So Quiet, relaxing, and comfortable we hope to get back soon. Kitchen well stocked, lots of comfortable seating options inside and out, with beautiful surrounding scenery.

Great stay a bit off the beaten track
Orchid Hale was a wonderful place, and perfect for our 5 adults. The screened in lanai was the main location for eating and hanging out.
The seclusion had two sides. It was beautiful with a gorgeous view. On the other hand, the place is up a shared driveway from a 1 lane road. It was a challenge to drive at night (if you have 74-year old eyes and nerves). Secondly, unless you are used to nighttime noises, the coqui and roosters are a bit loud. Ear plugs are a must minimum.

Perfect vacation getaway
We love this home. Peaceful, beautiful and comfortable. The perfect size for 3 mature couples.

Great place
Renting the property was easy with no problems. House was very nice. Pretty location if you wanted to be a bit away from the hustle and bustle. It was just 10-15 min away from many stores and activities. One drawback- roosters took awhile to get used to, very loud.
10.0
The property is a little hard to find when you first come into the area, but once you find it there are no problems after that. The house is large and there is plenty of breeze to keep you cool at night. (no A/C or heat) The water heaters are solar and electric so depending on when you take a shower it can be really hot! We had a fantastic time and highly recommend this house. The only word of caution I will say is this. The area and town is safe, however the house is accessible to anyone regardless if you lock the doors. Several of the windows have no glass and just a screen.

Paradise in paradise
My family and I desperately needed a vacation after 2020. We selected our first VRBO at Orchid Inn and we were blown away by the quality. Absolutely beautiful location, convenient, and a great rate. One thing to note- there is a frog infestation on the island so don't expect silent nights. The provided earplugs were helpful. The frogs would not deter us from visiting Orchid Inn again!

stayed 5 times at the Orchid Inn over the last 9 years. Always looking forward to staying there.Cent
Centrally located for everything. Restaurants, beaches and farmers markets. Day trips to Volcano National Park, Waipio valley and Hilo are very easy from Orchid Inn. Plus, the grounds at the house are beautiful and the sunsets from the lanai are spectacular.

Orchid Inn
This home is fantastic! It's so quiet and secluded we almost forgot we had neighbors. Except for the frogs...they do love to sing at night.
The bedrooms are spacious & light and the showers in the en suite bathrooms are actually comfortable for a taller person.
We really appreciated the large kitchen since we prepared most of our meals at the house and we loved the dining area on the screened-in porch.
They also provide a washer and dryer (so we were able to pack light), a nice barbecue grill for cooking out, and coolers, beach mats, and beach chairs for outings.
We would love to stay here again on our next visit to the island.

This is a large home on a big property, in a small artsy village in mountainous area above Kona. Every evening after being at the beach, we rushed home to watch the best sunset on the island. The roosters are indeed loud. It seems Covid may have reduced the busy rentals because the house was quite dusty when we arrived, and the neighbors tend to block the drive with their cars. But it’s really in a lovely neighborhood. The fruits trees, birds, brief daily rain, and cool evenings make this rental a place to which we’ll return.

Loved it!
We stayed at The Orchid Inn in Kona and it was beautiful! Amazing views and you can see the sun setting. Big kitchen and nice open space for the living room, dining area and kitchen. Whomever decorated did a really nice job on the place. The gardens surrounding the property are stunning with lots of flowers blooming. There were lychee fruit growing up high in the trees and it must have been the groundskeepers who cut down a branch full of lychee and left it on the front porch for us - they were yummy! There is a long private driveway so there is some space between the homes there. Privacy and lots of birds singing. They do have a few roosters that wake up early so you may need some earplugs for that (they have lots of disposable available at the house), but if you have been to Hawaii you know that the roosters are a familiar voice. The beds were also very comfortable! Very handy to have a washer and dryer. It is about a 10 minute drive down the hill to get to the center of Kona Kailua, but the drive is easy and actually quite lovely with all the beautiful trees and plants growing there. Really enjoyed our stay!

Very high on the hill. No need AC because wind is comfortable. The bedroom need more block from the frog noise.
