The Bauman's Hillside Hideaway is amazingly spacious, amenity rich 5-bedroom 3.5 bath Rustic home in a private/wooded setting in Ste. Genevieve County. With accommodations for up to 16 guests, this unique property is great for couples, families, friends, business retreats & mastermind sessions and small gatherings. Featuring a staggering 40' private in-ground heated swimming pool, hot tub, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, fire pit, outdoor kitchen and endless indoor/outdoor activities. This home truly offers a one-of-a-kind experience.
This property is only 7 miles from historic downtown Ste. Genevieve & only 7 - 15 mile drive through rolling hills to wine country. It can comfortably sleep 11 guests in beds (2 King rooms, 2 Queen rooms, 1 room with 2 twin's & 1 of the twins has a trundle). We also have 3 roll away beds & 2 full size baby beds that can be put in some of the larger bedrooms and/or in common areas. It is great for all types of travelers! If you're in need of a calm relaxed getaway you could soak in the hot tub and listen to your favorite music, go out on the deck to do yoga while collecting your thoughts and breathing the fresh country air, catch a nice tan in the pool laid back on the chaise lounge chair with the water from the bubblers lightly splashing you to keep you cool, or just simply poor a glass of wine, snuggle up on the comfy couch with a big fire in the fireplace and watch your favorite movie on the big screen with surround sound while your supper is out in the smoker. Or you may just have competitive family and friends and want to compete in a tournament playing horseshoes, sand volleyball, darts, washers, ping pong and pool, while grandpa cooks his mouth-watering steaks on the grill. In the mornings you can have your hot cup of coffee out on the deck before the rest of the world awakes watching the birds and squirrels playing, or the super comfortable mattresses may talk you in to staying in bed till lunch. (WARNING) If you are looking for some place to be bored with nothing to do and be uncomfortable while not doing it, this may not be the place for you!
Bedrooms have a 32" smart TV with DISH (only 4 bedrooms), Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, etc. The Main level of the home has 2 bedrooms, and 1 bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub/shower & custom cedar/barn wood vanity. A very large fully-equipped kitchen with a raised bar island with seating for 3, Custom made River table with seating for 8, 32" smart TV and a Sonos speaker, flows right into the living room that has a beautiful 18' tall fireplace made out of stone brought from the rocky mountains of Colorado , a 60" smart TV, Sonos surround system with Alexa, sectional, 2 recliners & access to all of the outdoor features.
There is a beautiful cedar staircase that takes you to the 2nd story loft that has access to upper deck w/ hot tub, laundry room, master bedroom, 2 additional bedrooms with a shared (Jack & Jill) full bathroom. The cozy master bedroom has a private bath with a walk in 2-person stone/tile shower & private access to the upper deck.
The temperature controlled over-sized garage has a pool table, Ping-Pong table, darts, washers, Sonos speaker, commercial ice maker and a 1/2 bath. From the garage you have direct access to all of the great Outdoor features which include cooking area equipped with gas grill and pellet smoker.
POOL!!!! 40' heated inground fiberglass pool, 6' 5" at deep end with 2 deep end bench seats, the shallow end features an 7' long Tanning ledge (9" depth) with 2 in-water chaise lounge chairs and 3 bubbler jets. It is also equipped with a KEYED automatic pool cover that takes less than a minute to open and close which makes using the pool a breeze and if you are traveling with small children this is a great safety feature!
The Sonos Speaker system is the icing on the cake for this property! You can connect your own playlist or use the available music services we provide, play different music on each individual speaker simultaneously or group them to enjoy the same song on all. Given that the property is so private you can turn the music up to max volume and it won't bother anyone!!

For the last four years, Bauman’s Hillside Hideaway has been our top choice for family vacations. Each visit is filled with memorable moments enjoying the fantastic amenities like the pool, sand volleyball court, outdoor kitchen, and fire pit. This year marks our 16th family vacation, and some of our dearest memories come from our recent stays at Bauman’s Hillside Hideaway. The house is fully stocked, so we only need to bring food and drinks. It's a wonderful experience in a gorgeous home and setting. Excitedly, we have already secured our booking for 2025!

THIS PLACE! I honestly can’t say enough about how amazing this home was. And the owners! They missed nothing. Every comfort and amenity that you could think of was available and provided. If you’re looking to get away for a family vacation, an adult trip, just a weekend with your spouse, 💯% recommend. My family of 12 (ages 8mo to 43) had so much fun with the ping-pong, pool table, the pool, outdoor kitchen with smoker, horseshoes, badminton and fire pits with s’mores, listening to the whole stereo system and just focusing on being present and having fun. The beds were comfortable. The pool was very warm. The kitchen has everything you need. Literally everything was top notch!

Hillside Hideaway is everything you could ever want in a vacation rental property. Our family enjoyed the pool most of all, all our kids LOVED the giant sandbox/sand volleyball court. Our middle child learned to play poker and dominated the adults suckered into his games. I, the wife, had plenty of cooking space in the kitchen for the countless hours I spent doing what I love; cooking for family/friends. My husband greatly appreciated the washer and dryer, as he did laundry as much as he possibly could!

We stayed here with a group of 11 girls for my sister’s bachelorette party and it was absolutely perfect - exceeding ALL expectations. The entire place was spotless. The inside had everything you would possibly need, in a very organized and easy to find manner. It has the coziest vibe with plenty of room for gatherings and games of all kinds. The outside area is unbelievable. We utilized the fire pit area, pool and hot tub. If we were there longer we also would have loved to play sand volleyball. We visited local wineries while we were there, and although they were fabulous as well, we were mostly excited to get back to the house to hangout!
The host has seriously thought of everything you need for a comfortable and successful stay! They are so personable - leaving snacks and drinks of your preference. We would absolutely recommend this place!

Our large family (30+) spread out over both properties recently. Each property was clean, well-supplied, the kitchens were organized and even the drawers labeled. Every need was throughtfully anticipated and our large family enjoyed our stay immensely. It's a deligthful place with many activities set up and available for immediate use - like the swimming pool, sand volleyball court, even sprayers to keep you cool on hot days alongside the pool, billiards and pingpong tables, games - you get my drift. The rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. The beds were very comfy. The log construction on the interior of the home is beautiful, and the entire property is welcoming and comfortable. Anna was available when needed via text or phone, and greeted us when we arrived and familiarized us with the property. The stove and dishwasher also came in handy with our large crew. PS The coffee was really good too! The grill and smoker and poolside kitchen were a great adjunct!

Our first impression driving up we couldn’t believe how lucky we were to find this place. It was just as pictured inside and outside. The amenities were abundant we couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was super hot when we were there so the pool and everything about the pool was amazing. I especially loved that it had an automatic pool cover for little ones safety.

This is our third year in a row at Hillside Hideaway and we look forward to it every year. Emma and Joe have provided everything you’d ever want to have fun - pool, hot tub, sand volleyball court, beautiful outdoor kitchen, outdoor fire area and more! They are incredibly responsive and take great ownership of their property. It also comes fully stocked with bathroom essentials, plenty of towels and all kind of games/activities. I’m constantly recommending this place to friends and family for an amazing getaway that’s less than an hour from St Louis. Can’t wait to be back in 2024!

We absolutely loved staying at Bauman's Hillside Hideaway. We were celebrating 2 birthdays and this place was perfect. I have never stayed somewhere that was so well stocked with anything you may need. They put a lot of thought into the design and build. The home is beautiful, and the backyard is amazing. We watched the Kentucky Derby outside, grilled and had the best time. Our plan was to visit some wineries, but we never left the house. We wished we would have stayed at least one more night. We will return!

This place is a wonderful place for families. We enjoyed playing volleyball and pool games. We love that we can stream music throughout the house and outdoor areas. The host provided ingredients for s'mores, which we loved. There is plenty of space that allows us to play together, but have space away when naps and breaks were needed.
We did have one glitch, which Emma took care of right away. She wanted us to have everything we needed, and we appreciated that she made sure everything was up to her standards.
We had a great time, we were comfortable, and we appreciate how well-stocked this house really is. We have never been to another place that has everything you need - they really put thought into what their guests need!

I’ve stayed at this property twice, in late October, and we were blessed with amazing weather so we were able to briefly get in the heated pool and sit poolside, but also use the firepit. The outdoor spaces are amazing but the indoor spaces are also extremely nice. Every single detail has been given great attention by the owner. She very much wants you to enjoy your stay, and will make that super easy to do. The kitchen has ample space and amenities for a large group. The outdoor kitchen is wonderful. If you find the pictures and description enticing, just know that your expectations will be met and exceeded.

Hillside Hideaway is a beautiful home and recreational area that will leave you fully satisfied with the perfect venue to have all kinds of fun without having to leave the property! Emma has thought of everything and provides many perks for your stay. The heated pool, hot tub, ping pong, billiards table, sand volleyball courts, outdoor shower, horseshoes and fire pit were all enjoyed! A fully equipped kitchen, just like home with quite the array of spices helped to make cooking a breeze. We were so impressed that we have already booked another stay at their Deep-woods location with friends in January next year and are also looking into a family gathering for our mothers 90th birthday next November! Hillside Hideaway was the BEST PLACE we have ever stayed (and we’ve stayed at a LOT). It literally has EVERYTHING you need (above and beyond… ex. Swim diapers and baby shampoo, cream and sugar and to go cups for coffee, luxury items throughout the house… and SO much more). It is its own resort!!! HUGE heated pool, sand volleyball, bonfire pit area, game room, but the best thing was the INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Emma went above and beyond for us in every way possible. She even had a welcome bottle of wine, charcuterie board AND she delivered our pizza that night when Domino’s didn’t. She was AMAZING!!!!!! It was perfect for our group of girls for my sister’s bachelorette party but would also be amazing for family getaways!! Thank you, Baumans! We will be back!!!!!!!

We stayed here with out of town family for our daughter’s wedding at The Artisian. Emma was a great host! Don’t worry if you forgot something, it’s already there! We enjoyed every aspect of the property from the heated pool to the spa to the outdoor kitchen to the fire pit! We loved it! We will be coming back!!

Wow. Wow. Wow. This is our second year at this property and we had an amazing week per usual. Emma took great care of us which allowed our family to fully enjoy our time together. We play a lot of games so the full size sand volleyball court and the horseshoe area (which we turned into a bags area) are so important to us. The fact that they have lights allow us to play late into the night without a worry of noise disturbance since there is no one around! When we got there, Emma had said that the smoker was not working but that they would bring over another one. When they brought that one over, it also was not working. She went directly into town and bought the property a brand new smoker so we were able to make our pulled pork, shrimp and Ozarks grillers with no problems at all. I've never had a host take the time and effort to ensure our trip was flawless. Thank you Emma and family for making our family reunion week the best part of the summer! We've already booked for 2023!

My husband and I wanted to do something special with our kids and grandkids to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The weekend was so much fun just being together. We used everything the house had to offer from the fire pit to the sand volleyball court. We used the outdoor kitchen and the smoker for a great meal on Sunday. Our grandsons spent a lot of time in the Game Room playing pool and ping pong. The adults loved just hanging out in the wonderful pool enjoying our cool beverages. And then at night we all had the privacy of our own bedrooms! Emma was great with communication and she even checked on us the first afternoon to make sure everything was ok. All the kids said they wanted to rent the house every year! Unfortunately for us, there is no availability that works for our schedule in 2023. But we will rent again! Thank you for the memories!

Each year our family organizes a reunion for all our children and grandchildren. This property was fantastic and had a lot to do! We all enjoyed the pool, pool table, ping pong table, sand volleyball, the hot tub, outdoor kitchen/sitting area and of course smores in the firepit!
Owners are VERY accessible and offered to come out immediately even though it was 8:30 in the evening to assist us in our inability to work one the televisions when the kids wanted to watch a movie. There were many niceties we have not seen at other places and extras were everywhere! It was just like being in a fully equipped home.

The Hillside Hideaway has everything a family or large group needs when they are on vacation! The house is very well kept and you can tell there is attention to detail in the cleanliness of the property. The pool is very clean as well as the wonderful outdoor grilling area to cook and hang out for meals. I forgot to bring s'mores ingredients, but Emma didn't forget to leave a boxful! (The littles were not disappointed.) Bringing a baby? Baby equipment galore is available.
The "compound" is very private and has everything we wanted for a family that ranges from a 75-year-old Granny, through a bunch of 30-somethings, down to toddlers. Sand volleyball, pool, outdoor kitchen, horseshoes, fire pit. The Game Room (ping pong, pool, darts, board games, poker table) was a hit with everyone. The surrounding woods add ambiance, and on a clear night one can see lots of stars.
There were plenty of beds for our family, and Emma provided a couple of rollaways for two littles who wanted to sleep in their mom and dad's room. The little ones favorite part was clearly the pool. The adults enjoyed the pool with their kids, then chatting around the fire after the littles went to bed (EARLY because they were worn out from playing in the pool).
We got lucky with the weather, but I suspect we could have had great fun no matter what.

Beautiful location and accommodations!
Absolutely loved this place. It had all the accommodations that a person could ask for. We planned to go to dinner but decided to go to grocery store and cook here. Every little gadget you need was in the kitchen…some that we weren’t even sure what it was for.:). I recommend this place for families or a group of friends looking for a great hideaway. Can’t wait to go back.

Too awesome to state. Check out website, all that and more!! Especially liked how personable our host was. I really liked that she welcomed us on arrival and explained specialty features of the home...there are many. She was available at a moments notice if there were any issues, or we just needed something. She had some special surprises for us that we really enjoyed. Loved, would highly recommend.

Family Vacation 2022
Beautiful property.. This house has anything and everything you would need for a vacation. Very organized and well stocked. We had 11 people total, Including 2 grandchildren ( 3yrs old and 3 months ) and she has everything you need from toys to bouncy seats, volleyball, swimming pool, outdoor cooking area and fire pit. This is the Best VRBO that I have ever rented. We would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great getaway.

Amazing!
Bridal Shower Bachelorette weekend was a huge success thanks to Emma and this beautiful house! Emma has seriously thought of everything when it comes to the Hillside Hideaway! It is so peaceful outside and cozy on the inside! Super clean, she had everything stocked that we could ever need and then some! While packing up this morning we were already talking about coming back and staying again! Pack some clothes and food then head to the hillside… everything else is there waiting for you!

Amazing!! Loved our stay!
The cabin was wonderful! I surprised my best friend for her bachelorette party and we were all blown away with amenities and cleanliness! We loved the volleyball court and games in the garage!! For sure booking another trip in the future!

Perfect retreat with all the amenities!
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The owners have thought of everything and really went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. We had 4 small kids with us and loved how the game room is attached to the main house as it gave more room for them to run around. We stayed in the winter and could not take advantage of all the outdoor amenities but are looking forward to booking again in the summer so we can enjoy everything it has to offer.
