About this apartment rental
Kanai A Nalu (“Gentle Breeze”) is located in Maalaea; a place often called “Maui’s best kept secret”. Our condo is direct OCEANFRONT, BEACHFRONT! You simply cannot get any closer to the ocean than our beautifully upgraded, ground floor unit!
From the lanai, gaze out and watch the sun rise over Haleakala (House of the Sun), the long dormant 10,000 foot volcano. Watch green sea turtles bobbing up for air and rolling in the surf, even sunning themselves on the beach. In the winter months (Nov-April) you will have a front row seat to breaching whales as they come back to the islands to give birth and nurse their young in the warm Hawaiian waters. In the summer months during a good south swell, you can watch surfers on the legendary surf break “Freight Trains”, one of the world’s fastest surfable waves.
Brew yourself a cup of freshly ground Kona coffee and make up a plate of local papaya, mango and bananas and sit out on the lanai with the Pacific Ocean just steps away. Why settle for less when you’ve come all this way to experience paradise?
You may find that a week (or even a month) is not enough time to fully appreciate this place. We welcome long-term renters, retirees and snowbirds to come and stay awhile!
Kids are welcome too: we provide the playpen, highchair and beach toys. They’ll love swimming in the complex pool and picking bananas from the tree right beside the lanai!
Be one of the first to enjoy our recently remodeled ground floor 2 bed, 2 bath condo. Travertine floors throughout, new granite countertops and all new furnishings. Details are important to us, that is why we transported unique lighting fixtures thousands of miles in our suitcases and made custom accent bedding and pillows for the bedrooms. We’ve installed some great perks like electric blinds, plantation shutters and a wine cooler. Even the things that may not be noticeable like quality fixtures, nice doors and a good quiet garbage disposal all work together to create a luxurious feeling.
On top of that we filled the space with original local art from Maui artisans. In the living room, we have showcased the beautiful fine art photography of Christopher Eagan (Lahaina). In the kitchen we had 2 large custom tile mosaics crafted by Makena Tile. In the master bath, a floor to ceiling bamboo design in etched tile by Janie Aldrige.
The Master Suite is truly a oceanfront retreat, with a King sized platform bed, flat screen TV and decadent white bedding with custom accent pillows. The Master bath is luxurious with a huge walk-in shower and double vanities with wall to wall mirrors reflecting all the beautiful surroundings and ocean views.
Before bed, take one last look at the moonlight shimmering on the Pacific and fall asleep listening to the rhythmic sound of the surf.
The guest bedroom has 2 Tommy Bahama styled twin beds with gel foam mattress toppers, clean crisp white bedding and custom made accent linens made from vintage Alfred Shaheen (the man behind the iconic Hawaiian Shirts) fabrics. The bedroom also has a small flat screen TV with cable and a cooling ceiling fan.
The kitchen of our condo is well equipped for those who want to cook and Kanai A Nalu has a BBQ area near the heated pool located in the center of the complex.
Our unit offers guests free long distance within the US and Canada as well as secure, high speed WiFi. 42” Flat screen TV with cable.
Maalaea’s trade winds provide a cooling breeze that keeps the temperatures just right, although we have a timer controlled A/C in the living room just in case.
We provide the beach toys, snorkel sets, boogie boards, skim board, sand toys & beach chairs...so grab some toys and explore your eco-diverse surroundings. Amazing boogie boarding, paddle boarding and snorkeling right in front of our unit!
20 steps off the lanai, and your toes are in the sand of one of Maui’s longest beaches. 4 miles of secluded sand to walk, run and beachcomb. You won’t find any crowds though because access to the beach is protected from the road by the bird-filled-ponds of Kealia Wildlife Refuge. It is so amazing to walk this beach and literally feel like you have it all to yourself!
A 5 minute walk in the opposite direction takes you to Maalaea Harbor where you will find a small grocery store, deli, craft market, restaurants and the Maui Ocean Center (Maui’s #1 tourist attraction), the Pacific Whale Foundation, miniature golf, shopping and most of the ocean activities available on Maui (sunset dinner cruises, deep sea fishing, snorkeling tours & whale watching).
Centrally located Maalaea, makes getting anywhere on the island easy. 15 minutes from the airport, a 5 minute drive south and you are in the long village of Kihei and a bit further, the ritzy resorts of Wailea. Twenty minutes to the west is the old whaling village of Lahaina, with it’s magnificent Banyan Tree and shopping galleries. You couldn’t be in a better location to explore all Maui has to offer.

This was a great place to stay. The condo’s location was perfect and the view out the patio doors was amazing. We had a wonderful stay in Maui—a perfect spot for our 50th wedding anniversary!

We had never been to Hawaii so decided it was the place to go to celebrate our 50th anniversary. This spacious condo was perfect. It was in a great location to get to different parts of the island. It had an awesome view of the water. We enjoyed sitting on the first floor Lanai and watching the waves, the surfers, and the sea turtles. It had everything we needed including beach toys, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and towels. It was a short walk to a nice beach that even had some shade trees.The bed was very comfortable. The unit was very clean and well stocked with items we could use. It was nice to be able to turn on the air conditioner when we needed it. Cindy and Todd were very easy to communicate with. Mahalo.

We gave this stay as a gift to our son and family. Their report was that the location was perfect, the beach was just steps away (and they did get to see and experience the turtles right from the beach. They said it was a beautiful place, comfortable and spacious. They enjoyed it immensely which made my husband and I very happy! Additionally, I was the one communicating with the hosts along the way as arrangements were being made. They were just incredible!

Second time staying here and would love to come again! Very comfy unit with everything you need. Only needed AC in living room once while there. Other times the nice trade winds kept us cool. Keeping the windows open and listening to the waves crashing was relaxing. Sitting on the lanai watching the blue ocean waters and turtles bobbing was awesome. Having the beach just steps away was amazing. I can’t recommend this place enough. Cindy and Todd thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible! Mahalo!

My wife and two of our older granddaughters had a great time at this property and Maui.
Although there is no beach accessible immediately in front of the condo, the view is fabulous and....you only have to go less than 100 yards to miles of open beach. Many great walks and water activities were enjoyed along this building free beach.
The condo was well furnished and pantry stocked with every essential. Instructions/information were excellent. Great communication with the property host (Cindy).

The property is so close to the water that we could hear and see every wave crash which made for awesome coffee in the morning. By opening the window at night, the sound made a relaxing night’s sleep. The property is located centrally to everything in Maui. We were 30 minutes or less from almost everything we wanted to do. We’d definitely stay here again!

Property was nice, great location. Loved being on the lower level so no lugging stuff up and down steps. Very close to a beach. The only complaint is the kitchen silverware drawer could have been a little cleaner also base of master shower. But neither were horrible…just needed some attention. Overall we were very pleased with our stay.

Wake up each morning to the sound of the waves after sleeping on a very comfortable mattress and step outside to watch the sunrise over the mountain with its reflection on the ocean. This condo is beautifully decorated and ocean front. The location is perfect. Having twin beds that were comfortable was perfect for my daughters. And I appreciated that they had their own bathroom. We loved being on the ground floor and walking out from the lanai to the beach or pool. We wish we had several more weeks here.

Unbeatable views. Loved watching turtles eating along the shore and the whales in the bay. Convenient location to everything. Kitchen was well stocked along with the bathrooms. The patio was our favorite hangout. It was nice being on lower level for loading and unloading. Decor was beautifully done. It was nice we could drop our groceries and suitcases before the condo was ready. Thank you for sharing your Maui home.

This condo is in an absolutely perfect location to explore all of Maui. It sits at the western end of Ma’alea Bay on a residential street, along with six or seven other small condo buildings. As a result, the area is quiet and very private, but you can access a 5 mile long, sandy Beach by walking down the seawall at the building, or taking a three minute walk to the end of the road where the state park begins. We walked the beach, as well as the adjacent nature preserve, every day. Every day we sat on our lanai and watched the whales, jumping in the bay. It was absolutely incredible. We also walked to the little market area that surrounds the Maui Ocean Center every day for ice cream. The unit itself is wonderful. Beautifully decorated, more than adequately stocked with everything. The bed in the master bedroom is incredibly comfortable, the towels and linens are soft, in the shower in the master bathroom is incredible. We highly recommend this unit and would absolutely stay there again on our next trip to Maui.

We stayed at the McKenna condo for 10 nights and it was very well equipped with everything we needed for a great stay. You cannot beat the view in addition with being on the ground floor, we loved it. The ocean is right there and falling asleep to the waves crashing every night was so relaxing. The complex was busy but we never had any noise issues and there was always plenty of space to spread out at the pool and beach. Todd and Cindy were quick to respond to any questions or issues we had. It was a great stay, thank you for hosting us!!

The lising photos do not do jusice to the condo. The furnishings and decor are exceptional, yet the condo is very comfortable and felt like home. The kitchen was well stocked for meal prep. Although Maui is going through a tough time, there were no shortage of things to do and we went on several excursions. The condo is centrally located which made travel to events simple. There are a few shops, restaurants, boating excursions, and the Maui Ocean Aqrarium at the Maalaea Harbor which are within walking distance from the condo. Although there is a sea wall directly in front of the condo, the access to the beautiful beach is only steps away with great swimming, snorkeling, and long beach walks available. The condo is stocked with beach equipment making beach days very enjoyable. We were sorry to leave but definitely will be back. Thanks Todd and Cindy for sharing your beautiful condo and for all the valuable communication leading up to and during our stay.

The third island of our trip was Maui and we rented Cindy & Todd's apartment.
The very high quality and lovingly furnished apartment is definitely significantly higher than the standard.
The very understanding landlords are easy to reach and respond to questions very promptly.
Beach equipment such as chairs, boards and snorkeling equipment are available for use.
A late check out would have been possible without additional costs as there was no direct re-letting.
Unreservedly recommended!

Staying in this beautiful oceanfront condo made our first trip to Maui a wonderful stay. The unit was more than adequately supplied with everything to meet basic needs which as a frequent traveling family, we don’t always see. The central location made it so easy to get out and adventure in Maui’s beautiful environment. The beach chairs, boogie boards, towels and snorkel gear were such gifts to utilize while we stayed. We just spent 2 weeks at this condo. It was the perfect home away from home. The location was central for all of our Maui adventures. The condo is beautifully appointed, and had everything we needed. Plenty of beach toys, a great kitchen and beautiful views. And a huge plus… the beds were super comfy. We would not hesitate to book this wonderful condo again.

We had a wonderful time celebrating our 30th anniversary. The condo was beautiful and equipped with absolutely everything. It was so relaxing being right on the water. The location was very centrally located and easy to get to everything in Maui. We watched the sunrise every morning.

I wanted the perfect place for my family to seek solidarity and solace after many trying months. I find it here! Todd and Cindy have put their heart and soul in offering the perfect lodging for families to come together and feel the Aloha spirit. Everything was clean and tidy, it was tastefully arranged with island vibe furniture and decor. The beds were comfy. The tile work was beautiful. After visiting many spots on the island I recognized the local artwork hanging on the walls!
Sitting on the lanai, drinking coffee, listening to the waves crash while turtles bobbed in the surf gave you that ahhhh feeling.
We never needed the a/c but still nice to know it was an option. Everything was stocked except body soap but we brought our own. The kitchen had all the spices, condiments and even bottled water the previous vacationers left.
The unit was quiet, the neighbors were friendly. The extremely short walk and step over a rope to the beach was fantastic. Someone with mobility issues would not be able to access the beach though. We snorkeled and kids had fun boogie boarding in the surf.
I loved that Maalaea was centrally located to all the major hotspots like Kihei/Wailea, Kaanapali and Paia.
Within a 20-30 min walk is the harbor with some cute shops, 2 restaurants and the Maui Ocean Center. Tantè’s Happy Hour Mai Tai’s $3.50!!

Being able to walk out to head to the beach was nice. (Although you have to step over a small roped off area to get there.) Nice large dining room table, kitchen with good amenities, nice towels, beach towels, and beach chairs. We never used the air conditioner, the breeze and it cooled down in the evening. There was plenty of parking and provided recycling bins right next to the trash bins.

We really enjoyed staying at this condo. It is very tastefully decorated and is right on the beach so great for whale watching. The location is central. There aren't eating places or shopping right by it but aren't very far away. The ground floor is a plus.

Everything with the property was as promised. We were able to check in a bit early after stocking up at the local grocery store. The ground floor lenai is perfect for having your coffee while watching the whales swim in the Bay. The location is central to everything so we did not have to travel a great distance to see most of the sites. There are numerous beaches within 5 10 15 minutes. The beach towels, snorkeling equipment, and boogie boards were a big plus. Todd responded right away With any questions that we had. We would definitely recommend this property for your stay. Mahalo!

Everything about this place is truly outstanding! Todd and Cindy have thought of everything and makes their place a home away from home for their guests. The location was perfect for quick access to all our must do/see locations in Maui. The proximity to the water and being right on the beach was our favorite part. Quaint ground floor condo on the ocean shore. Had a good time - the unit was centrally located and easy to drive too. Would stay again and loved listening to the breaking waves during the night and while asleep. Overall, the unit was quiet, the neighbors were friendly, and the bed was very comfortable. Enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend the unit for anyone with a family of 4 or smaller

Perfect Vacation
This condo was absolutely perfect for us. The location is excellent and allows easy access to anywhere on the island. We drove south and north and west..all easy! Everything was super clean. I loved all the small details and what they had available. I even found bandaids in the bathroom! We would definitely stay here again and again!

Todd and Cindy’s place is a dream! The location is amazing, the space has an island vibe and the hosts were so kind! We loved the personal touches and getting to wake up to such a perfect view. It was such a great location for all the fun things we did and we will definitely be back some day!
