Our spacious, newly constructed 4900 s.f. custom home sits beachfront on the iconic Chun's Reef Surf Break. With family-friendly, white sand beaches and waves for all skill sets, Chun’s Reef is ideal from those learning to surf, to the most advanced water sports enthusiasts.
Work on your tan in our lush tropical garden, or hang out in the shade of the covered lanai and take in the best of what the legendary North Shore has to offer. The main home is designed with 2 master bedroom suites, and each of the 5 bedrooms is designed to showcase stunning ocean views. The craftsman style living room opens directly to the covered lanai through a 16-foot wide pocket door, connecting you with the environment your entire stay. Our 1900 s.f. of covered lanais feature breathtaking 180 degree ocean views. From the comfort of our home, you can see the endangered Hawaiian Sea Turtles year round. The winter months bring the big waves, as well as breaching humpback whales you can view right from your room.
Our home also features an open, state of the art kitchen with granite counter tops, new appliances, and a 10 foot long granite island and eating bar. Enhance your dining experience with the adjoined 16’ x 16’ dining lanai, complete with a BBQ grill. The lower level game room opens directly to the covered patio with a separate dining area as well.
The adjacent cottage has an ocean front master bedroom and living room. It also has a full kitchen and dining room.
While winter brings the infamous Haleiwa surf community to life, summer is an ideal time to take advantage of the unforgettable calm waters and incredible clarity. Come snorkel with the sea turtles, or kayak and stand up paddle along the iconic coastline with your family. Let the kids run wild on the spacious lawn, or take a few short steps down to the tide pools, for a fun and exciting learning experience they’ll never forget.
The house sits two miles from Historic Haleiwa Town, home to a wide range of dining experiences, as well as unique shops, art galleries, and local farmers markets.
Less than 3 miles away sits the gorgeous and world famous Waimea Bay. Hike the Waimea botanical gardens, swim in the waterfall, or relax on the expanse of it’s gorgeous white sand. This is the perfect stay for families visiting the North Shore area. The pictures of the property do not do the house justice! It’s right on the beach, so you can watch the surfers or just enjoy the views. The seating area outside makes it great for families all to sit together and enjoy the weather. They also provide toys for young kids along with books! My nieces loved exploring the yard and finding birds and lizards.
The hosts let us have a later check out due to flight issues and were great communicators, they answered my questions fast and helped us with all our needs!
I definitely recommend this stay to anyone coming to O’ahu with family or friends!

First, lets start with the house. It has this incredible living room that opens up completely onto the deck, which was a natural spot for everyone to gather. The kitchen was so well stocked that we often lost track of where everything was. Almost every bedroom had its own, luxurious bathroom and all but one (in the cottage) opened up onto the ocean... just like the listing said but so much more impressive in person.
The location could not have been better. It is maybe 50 steps from Chun's Reef (Beach?). We often sat on our deck and watch the surfers. In the other direction from Chun's is Turtle Beach (it has a real name but we never learned it) where there always seem to be sea turtles on the beach or bobbing in the waves. Furthermore, the house is only 10 minutes from Hale'iwa, perhaps the best town on Oahu (great shopping, dining and shave ice).
Finally, I can't overstate how great Ashley was to work with. When covid cancelled our 2020 plans, she made sure we found a time we could come. When the coffee maker broke, there was a new one on the doorstep by that afternoon. When one of the kids got covid, she made sure that we had were taken care of until we could fly out. She is one of the best owners we've every worked with.

Awesome Beach Front Property
My family of 5 stayed at this home with my husband's two brothers and their families. The home was spacious and had multiple master bedrooms which was great for all the adult couples on the trip. The house had an amazing open concept living room to the deck that looked out to the ocean. The beach directly in front of the house was tide pools, but a short walk to the right got you to the sandy beach. The town of Haleiwa was a short distance away which was very convenient, but we loved just hanging around the house! I would absolutely recommend this home for your vacation!!

Excellent Property for Large Group
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property. We are very safety conscious and each person did a COVID test upon arrival, all with negative results. However, one person developed symptoms and had to isolate. How nice to have the cottage for this person, and to have outside, covered dining for the rest of us! Bedroom and bath arrangements worked well for our group of 10 adults and 3 children.

Great home in great location
We had a large family group staying at this property and we could not have been happier with the location. The views out the patio are amazing and it was close to a lot of fun things we wanted to do (Waimea Bay, waterfalls, sharks cove, Matsumoto, very short walk to see large turtles on the beach, lots of food trucks/restaurants, etc). The kids loved searching the rocks/tide pools in the backyard searching for treasures and hermit crabs. The house was equipped with sand toys(handle was broken on basket but it was full of plenty of things to entertain the kids for hours at the beach), beach chairs and boogie boards that made our beach days that much more fun. Each family easily had their own room and bathroom making it comfortable for our large group with each having an awesome ocean view! A few things that would have put this rental over the top would have been more towels in each of the bathrooms, a few extra blankets/sheets/pillows on site, updates on some of the hardware/metal that is corroding throughout the home, and there were a few cleanliness issues. Not enough to change my review of 5 stars though. Ashley was by far one of the best hosts I’ve ever worked with through vrbo and was very responsive and answered all my questions leading up to our vacation as well as during our trip.

Wonderful!!
We rented this property for a week stay for my son’s wedding in Oahu!! It was 16 of us all together ranging from 11 to 80 years old!! Everyone was amazed at the view from the back patios/ yard! The home itself was very comfortable and even though there were so many of us, the house was big enough where everyone had privacy and felt comfortable!! We ended up using the bottom floor family room as an 8 th bedroom since it can be closed up completely and Ashley was very attentive with the couple of questions we had during our stay!’ I would recommend this property 100% if you have a large family/group and wanna go make some wonderful memories at Haleiwa town!! Only down side to our stay was water too rough on the west side of island so we could not swim there by the house but found other beaches near by. However, we did enjoy watching surfers having their fun!! Thank you Ashley for allowing

Chuns Reef Casa
My family and I stayed in this home for a week, and it was AMAZING! The house was more than we could ask for, stocked with all your needs and even more (as we had two toddlers)! We celebrated my wedding at a local venue nearby, and the home was perfect for us to run to and from to! The beach just steps away was also perfect, and easy to get to with a little rocky adventure. In the other direction you have sea turtles just a 5 min walk, and lots to do in the cute town of Haleiwa! So sad to not be able to wake up to the incredible views, and sound of the waves crashing every morning, but so grateful for Ashley and this home! You will not regret staying here!!! Mahalo Ashley!

PERFECT Family Celebration!
We celebrated our golden anniversary with 13 family members at this beautiful, spacious and well-equipped home on Chun Reef’s in North Shore Oahu for a 2-week vacation. This home was a PERFECT spot to celebrate our milestone anniversary, relax, rejuvenate and reconnect with our beloved family. Our family included 6 couples, and each couple had a spacious bedroom with a magnificent ocean view. The house featured a roomy great room and kitchen, main-level large lanai with huge dining table and relaxing lounge area, a sunning desk, and lower level patio outside the family room, two outdoor showers, a beautiful yard with hammock facing Chun Reef and the beach. We admired the breathtaking sunset every evening. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed every minute we spent at this property, and vowed to return soon.
North Shore Oahu is our favorite “go to” vacation spot. We love all the beaches and laid-back Haleiwa. It provided a great place for the hikers, runners, and surfers in our family. We enjoyed a group Stand-Up Paddle and kayak adventure, a thrilling surf lesson for 7 brave family members and swimming in the Waimea Falls.
Kudos to homeowner Ashley for her quick response to a minor issue and questions! We appreciated Ashley’s hospitality and warmth. This property is a PERFECT family vacation home for a large family.

A tropical paradise!
I can’t even begin to explain how much better this property is in person. It’s a tropical paradise. The house is beautiful, spacious, relaxing, fully equipped and perfect for a family vacation. We had a house full of kids, adults, an elder and a baby and everyone was comfortable and happy. The indoor/outdoor living space is perfect. A cool ocean breeze runs through the house, there are ceiling fans located throughout and a/c units in some bedrooms. The kitchen is fully stocked. We stopped at Costco on our way from the airport. There is a full size washer and dryer that was really convenient and plenty of beach towels! There are two outdoor showers and the connected cottage was perfect for extra refrigerator storage space. I can’t say enough how perfect this house is for a relaxing family vacation. The kids loved exploring the tide pools and making our way to the beach to see the turtles. Last but not least, Ashley is hands down the best and most responsive property owner ever. She is the BEST. Thank you Ashley for providing a perfect tropical paradise. Mahalo!

Wonderful family reunion at Chuns reef.
Our family of seven adults and six children had a wonderful time at the Bowthorp's "Chuns reef" home. The well laid-out and well equiped home was large enough for everyone to both enjoy being together and to have their own spaces. The views of the beach and the ocean, as well as the setting sun were breathtaking.
We had some issues with air conditioning, but Ashley scheduled repairs right away. We were all comfortable with the cool ocean breeze at night and were lulled to sleep by the sounds of the surf.
Ashley was a terrific host and answeted our questions and offered suggestions for things to do during our stay.
I highly recommend this vacation home for large groups who want to share a great experience on "island time"

Amazing location and beautiful home!
Awesome stay! This house has everything you need and more for vacationing with a large group. We had 9 people staying so most everyone had their own room - lots of privacy and also lots of spaces for gathering with your whole group. Every room except one has ocean views - this house could not be more perfect for a large group - everyone gets an amazing room! The main room upstairs completely opens up to the ocean bringing the outside in - we absolutely loved this feature of the house. The hammock on the lawn and the variety of decks and lounge chairs gave us the perfect places to soak in the sights and sounds of this gorgeous location. Falling asleep to the sound of the sea at night and the easy access to the beautiful beach was perfect. We loved having two kitchens and they were both very well-stocked. Ashley was very easy to communicate with and was so accomodating. Highly recommend staying here and hope to return!

The place is amazing. Big pluses: each of 6 bedrooms has an ocean view and patio or balcony, 3 levels of ocean front patios or balconies, lanai dining, grassy area for children to play, large sliding lanai doors to open the entire living room to the balcony and the sea, two outdoor showers, short walk to sandy beach, well maintained, great owner. Fantastic!
We were a party of 14 and all had plenty of room with our own space. We enjoyed the large yard overlooking the beach and family conversations on the lanai.
Home has everything you need, we cooked many meals and was never at a loss for anything. There are plenty of beach towels and beach toys for all.
Ashley is a great host and always communicates in a timely fashion.
We vacation in Hawaii every two years and this by far was our best trip. The location is perfect and allows you to truly relax.

Perfect for our family of 10, with room to spare
Beautiful home on the North shore. Minutes from Haleiwa and Wiamae Bay.
We all had plenty of our own space. Kids played football in the yard enjoyed snorkeling minutes away at shark cove (no sharks) lots of cool fish to watch.
Home had everything you need, just bring your clothes. There are beach towels and toys there to use. We added some additional snorkel and water shoes to the collection.
Ashley was very quick to respond when I was looking for a broom. No matter how hard we tried not to get sand in their home....it happened. :)

Amazing!
Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe the house... the quaint beach town. Wonderful places to eat, shop & just to enjoy the beauty of the island. We had beautiful sunsets everyday. Walks on the beach. There were 9 family members in the house & we never felt cramped, plenty of room for all. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai drinking coffee or just listening to the waves roll in. Our daughter got married right on the beach, ( reef area right by the house. ) Our son snorkeled, did some scuba diving in sharks cove. We saw sea turtles everyday. We had everything we could possibly need. Ashley was only a text away if we needed anything. Everyone agreed when we left we would love to make a return trip sometime. Delightful house, well located, with plenty of room and great views.
We were a group of 17, 10 adults and 7 kids. Three generations, from 5 mos. to Medicare eligible. The house and the yard met everyone's needs beautifully, as did the easy-access beach, adjacent to the yard. With serious foodies in charge of our meals, the kitchen and large dining area served very well.
Lots of time spent snorkeling just off the house, with many sea turtle encounters. Grocery store, and must-do activities (Waimea Valley, Polynesian Cultural Center, diving Sharks Cove, hiking Ka'ena Point, etc.) were within easy reach, and Hale-iwa was surprising for its shopping, shave ice, food trucks, and marina. The morning spent on a catamaran cruise was an excellent experience for all.
Being here in August, the days were hot and the nights sultry. In the MBR and cottage the AC was a blessing; for those sleeping in the non-AC rooms on our first night, the upper BRs were a bit close, even with the ceiling fans. The lower BR was fine. Ashley was a champ in providing a couple of portable AC units for our island-non-acclimated souls, and everyone slept fine from that point forward.
I cannot say enough about how gracious and responsive Ashley and her husband were, especially with the visit by Hurricane Lane during out stay. We have stayed in over a dozen VRBO-listed properties over the past few years, and Ashley stands head and shoulders above other VRBO owners/managers that we have encountered.
The aspect of our stay that will stay with me most is the time spent on the large upstairs porch - whether alone at 5:30 AM, with a cup of coffee and the NYT on my iPad, at twilight hanging with our millennial offspring and grandkids while the sky progressed from blue to orange to purple, or at anytime in between - the view, the light, and the breezes could not be beat. Relaxation with an uppercase 'R', in a civilized, secure, and extremely comfortable setting.

Can't be beat for a large family reunion.
We had a family reunion for 14 of us with ages from 71 down to 4 months including 8 adults and 6 children. This large 7 bedroom house was absolutely perfect in every way. The location, right on the Chun's Reef beach, with good snorkling (not many waves being summer time on the North Shore), but all of amenities including good wifi, plenty of televisions, all the kitchen and laundry accoutrements, etc. plus beach chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas, etc. No pool which for us was a pre-condition given little ones running around and concern about their safety. (The beach is really not directly accessible for children under 7 given you must go over rocks to get there so we were able to relax and not worry about water safety issues.) Only drawback is that Kam Highway is the main street outside with typical North Shore traffic issues particularly in the afternoon. However, the house is set far enough off the road that you don't really notice it unless you are going out. The hostess, Ashley, who lives in the next town over (Wailua) was accessible and helpful when minor issues arose. We'd go back and would encourage anyone looking at a large family reunion with 14 or fewer folk to consider this house. Great fun with old Haleiwa down the road a mile or two.

Wonderful home in a great location!
Our family of 14 had a fabulous time in this lovely home! Everything was well stocked and clean. The kids enjoyed searching the rocks for sea creatures and turtles close by. We loved the proximity to the beach and nearby towns. Snorkeling at Shark's Cove was great and a must do! We would definitely stay here again.

First of all, the home is really amazing. Spacious, excellent location, breathtaking views. Plenty of room for our very large family. The big covered deck in the back was beautiful. Ashley was enormously helpful during our stay. The main washing machine was broken, but it was no big deal because they had a second washer and dryer downstairs. One of the showers was not draining so we couldn't use it, but there were plenty of other options throughout the house and it did not cause us much trouble. Kitchen was well stocked. All rooms had ocean views and falling asleep was easy with the ocean right in the back yard. Two outdoor showers made cleaning up after the beach easy. Tide pools right in the back yard were a big hit, with fish, turtles, eels (we even saw a Moray Eel). A couple of things I would want to know before renting this home that I didn't know before include: 1) The beach is pretty rocky, even where it looks like a sandy beach the ocean is very rocky. So if you are expecting a sandy beach where you can walk out onto a sandy ocean floor you will be disappointed. Surfing takes place farther out in the ocean beyond the rocky shore. 2) Access to the beach from the back yard is difficult for small children because there is no path to the beach and requires walking along some very large rocks. We had a couple of spills trying to make it down to the beach. You can walk out the front and down the busy road to access the beach, but it is a bit of a pain. 3) We made the assumption that there was a full bath for each bedroom, but some have toilets only and as I said one of the showers was not in working condition. 4) The front of the house faces a busy road with quite a bit of street noise day and night, but to be honest, that didn't bother me too much.
Overall, it was just a great place and we will not hesitate to book it again.

The house exceeded our expectations for a week-long, multi-family stay. 14 of us total, ranging from toddler to grandparents, and everyone was extremely comfortable in the house. Lots of elbow room and space to get away for quiet time! The attached cottage was perfect for my sister's young family, and the pack n plays and high chair were a great perk to decrease packing requirements. The backyard is more spacious than in pictures, and the kitchen is extremely well stocked with everything from crock pots to grilling tools to wine glasses. The location is perfect, just a few minutes from Haleiwa but also a quick trip down to Pearl Harbor and the stadium swap meet. We saw whales and sea turtles (and surfers!) all on the first day from the back deck. Ashley was super easy to deal with both before, during and after the trip. Highly recommend this place if you want an amazing family vacation on the North Shore!

This house worked out wonderfully for our multi-family vacation. The distinct spaces allowed every family to have it's own space, and the main room and lanai made for the perfect gathering area. The house is well appointed but very casual, which when you have kids running around is a definite upside. The view is breathtaking, Chuns Reef is right out front, so you can watch amazing surfers go at it sunrise to sunset (we had beautiful sunsets every night). The kitchen has everything you need to make meals and the drawer of kids plates and utensils was a pleasant surprise. The beach is only a short walk away, and Haleiwa is 5mins by car. Overall, we could not have been happier with our choice of houses. Thanks again.

This house and location will exceed your expectations! 7 bedrooms, 7 baths, on the water, private, incredible views, Chuns Reef beach 100 yards away, less than 10 minutes to charming Haleiwa town, etc, etc, etc. If you're thinking of going to the North Shore of Oahu look no further.
We were a large group of 4 families - 8 adults and 8 children. The house fit us perfectly. And there was no need to haggle over the bedrooms because all of them are great! We can't wait to go back!

I was blown away from the second that we arrived. The landscaping is incredible and the home is gorgeous, everything so new and spacious. The layout of the house is so open, yet there is plenty of privacy- each bedroom even has it's own bathroom! Each bedroom also looks right out to the ocean- every morning we'd gather together around the massive granite island (LOVED the kitchen) and just rave about he lulling sounds of the ocean that we all fell asleep too. It was heaven.
Activity-wise:
My husband spent the trip surfing, my sister and I stand-up paddled down to Waimea Bay a few times, my parents snorkeled every morning, and the babies enjoyed splashing around in the tide pools. Chuns Reef also naturally creates a perfect little protected cove that protects little swimmers from the waves. Ideal. Top it all off with not one but TWO outdoor showers?! I think this was my children's favorite part of the trip!
When we weren't in the water, my children were running around the grounds chasing geckos and getting lost in the "jungle", the men barbecued on the lanai, and my sisters and I napped on the hammock. All ages were completely engaged and delighted from the moment we arrived. Perfect family getaway.
And the double shower heads?! I am making my husband install one ASAP.
We have already booked our vacation for next year. We plan on making this home our annual family getaway. Thank you for an unforgettable trip!
