About this cabin rental
A true American wilderness experience with total solitude. The Cabin at Black River View sits on 100 acres and has the best view in Southeast Missouri in the heart of the Ozark Mountains. Overlooking the Black River and in site of the highest elevation point in Missouri, you will have no neighbors with total seclusion and quiet except for hearing the gentle rapids below. Newly built in 2016 this state of the art cabin has everything you need to entertain your family and friends. Located on a bluff near the Mark Twain National forest it has access to thousand of acres of hiking, hunting horseback riding, mountain biking, 4-wheeling and ATV trails, but the main attraction is the Black River. Crystal clear water fed from springs with a rock bottom that you can see 12 feet to the bottom, the Black River is a gentle river making canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and paddle boarding all an enjoyable experience. Local attractions include the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Johnson Shut Inns, Clearwater Lake, Elephant Rock State Park, and Sam A. Baker state park. Just two and half hours from St. Louis.

The black river view cabin far exceeded our expectations. We had a wonderful time and wouldn’t hesitate to go back in the future!

Off the grid feel with all of the amenities of home! Really cool property, had fun shooting and hiking and teaching the grandparents how to "offroad" down to the river!!! Enjoyed by the entire family. Its about 50mins to Johnsons shut ins but still a very doable day hike trip. Would lovw to return!!

This was our family’s second time staying at the cabin. We love being able to enjoy the comfort and amenities of the cabin while being in such a remote location. I could sit on the porch and stare out at the view all day long. It’s a super special place!

It took us 3hrs to find our cabin. We expected the long travel from TX to Missouri but we didn't anticipate it taking us 3hrs to locate the cabin after arriving. My husband, son and I all reached out to Jeff, the property manager, for help with no response. Finally when he did answer he hung up on us with never reaching back out to us or answering our calls. We did finally find the cabin with the help of our son's navigation skills. Once arriving we are hit with another problem, no working air conditioner or ice machine... Luckily for us the owner, Tim, was there and worked his tail off to get it fixed. Our 1st night was pretty warm with only using fans, Tim supplied for us. We also had a bag of ice in the freezer since no ice machine. Tim was fantastic and we greatly appreciated the lengths he went to to make our stay enjoyable after learning all we had been through. The AC was back up and running at full capacity on Tuesday. With all this we still had an incredible time! Making memories with our grandson and enjoying family time. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return ourselves one day.

The cabin is extremely nice well thought out and up to date. The view and river are perfect for enjoying summer days and cooling off. The Owners Tim and Deanna are very friendly and accommodating. We will be back soon.

This property was exactly what we were looking for….private and remote space to be able to bring our dogs and allow our son and his friends to enjoy time on the river and ATVs.

The view alone was worth the booking, we spent mornings with coffee and sunsets just watching clouds roll through the valley because it was beautiful. The cabin itself is very nicely appointed, the photos don't do it justice! Major plus that there's a dedicated icemaker. Access to the river does require a 4wd vehicle to make it easy and quick, at which point the cabin location is really excellent. Walking is possible but the steep grade makes it a chore if that's your only means to get to the river. Excellent instructions for the cabin, lists of things to do and communication from the owner.

We took a float trip to the Black River and stayed here for an extended weekend. It was perfect. The view was absolutely amazing. The pictures can't even do it justice.
The cabin was clean, stocked, and well maintained. Even though we spent most of our time outdoors, it was a nice escape from the heat. The canopy and chairs provided were a nice touch.
While the cabin is great, it's the location and atmosphere that set this place apart. The cabin is totally secluded with easy access to the river via hike, ATV, or truck (4WD is a must to get to the river). I hiked the trail up and down 3 times and, while it has some steep terrain, if you take your time it's not too bad.
All in all, there is nothing I would change about the cabin. We've been taking a yearly float trip for the past 8 years, and this was far and away the best cabin experience. We were all hopeful to visit again.

This is our 3rd time renting this property for an outdoor adventure weekend. We floated the Black River and rode ATVs and UTVs all over the place. This place has so many options for a good time. I see they are building another cabin on the property which should be twice the fun. The pictures of this place never do it justice. We will be back again next year.

Amazing Family Getaway
We had 9 adult family members together for a weekend of floating the Black River — this house was the perfect home base! We loved the beautiful river views and the house was nice with all the accommodations needed.
We went down to the river per the instructions from the house the first evening and agree that you need 4-wheel drive. We even parked our SUV on the creek bed and walked the approx. .25 mile to the river.
We used two different river outfitters — Jeff’s Canoe from Annapolis, it was a great float with beautiful bluffs, very convenient from the house. The next day, we went to Franklin’s out of Lesterville — a further drive and it was much busier on that part of the river, busier spot and it was a Saturday. We still enjoyed the river and had time to check our Johnson Shut-ins and Elephant Rock State Park — both worth a visit if you’re in the area!
We made all our meals at the house - grilled and made use of the big kitchen. It’s the perfect spot for a big family gathering!

Amazing secluded getaway
We had an amazing vacation at the cabin. It is the most secluded we've ever felt in the continental US. The stars were absolutely brilliant at night. The view is gorgeous. The cabin is well-maintained and clean. The property manager is responsive to texts and very helpful. Would love to come again!!

Amazing cabin with fantastic views
We had an excellent experience at the cabin. The view from the cabin is breathtaking. The cabin itself is clean and very up to date. We loved our girls trip and are planning on turning it into and annual trip!

Secluded getaway
We had a great time at the cabin. Very secluded, access to the river via a walk through the woods, well-stocked cabin with everything we needed for a great stay (board games, movies, washers, fire pit, etc.)

Modern Cabin in Mid-Missouri w/ a Great View!
We had a blast at this modern cabin in mid-Missouri that has a great view overlooking the Black River. Cabin has all the creature comforts (even satellite TV to catch weekend football - MIZ!) and is a short hike downhill to the creek. If you go to the river, make sure you have waterproof hiking boots. The terrain is steep, and there's not a clear, dry way to the inner river banks. Worth it though, as we had plenty of fun making our own log bridges.
One word of caution, go over the directions to the cabin prior to leaving your house, and print the written directions provided by the owner. Different GPS' (Google vs. Apple vs. Other) take different addresses to get to the cabin (Redford vs. Annapolis vs. Ellington). We found that out the hard way, but on the bright side it was simply an extended road trip with friends and some good tunes. Also, final miles of road are gravel. We advise taking an SUV with good tires to handle the loose gravel and steep grades at times.
Overall, a great location to get in some much needed R&R.
