Shotgun cottage, captures vintage style with the look of now. This seaside retreat is owned by The Purgason family since 1972, when first built. Home offers gracious front and rear porches for morning and afternoon relaxation. To top it off, the "Widows Walk" (rooftop deck) offers surround views of the ocean, marsh and island community with seating for all to enjoy. Perfect spot to catch spectacular sunsets the island is named for. Porches include swings, rockers and stylish comfortable seating. Exterior is landscaped with palm trees and white sand. Ample parking! There are two exterior sand showers, one private and one to knock off sand and beach equipment from a long day at the beach. A large rear grilling deck with oversized casual dining table and plenty of seats—a fun spot for eating watermelons. Two grills are available, take your pick of gas or charcoal. Napping hammock in a shady spot that captures the perfect ocean breeze. Back yard with sodded grass, perfect play area for kids. Rare concrete driveway perfect for basketball, chalk drawing, jumping rope, skating.....The family's collection of sea shells has been used in the interior staging and exterior landscaping. The special shells have been collected by grandchildren and family members over the years. Interiors offer refinement without sacrificing the relaxing beach-comber style of living. The family's collection of shells displayed throughout the cottage are treasures discovered by the oldest and youngest family members. The SeaPalm is owned by creative artist/designers by trade. They have chosen the beach lifestyle theme with maximum comfort in furnishings. Flat TV screens are in each bedroom as well as in the open concept Great Room. The Kitchen is well stocked for waffles with strawberries in the morning and daiquiris in the afternoon! Bar seating and a butterfly leaf expandable dining table add to the ease of sharing meal Prepping. Three oversized sliders to the front porch allow lots of sunshine in a a bright and cheery house. Shutters are in all bedrooms and provide stylish privacy. The Sea Palm is a colorful cottage with plenty of beach chairs, beach games, umbrella and coolers. We provide the beach equipment - You tote there, you tote back!!! The SeaPalm is an easy stroll to and from the beach, pier and island market. Y'all come! We loved everything about our stay at the Sea Palm and we could not have had a better week. The beach is very close and everyone we interacted with showcased southern hospitality. The amenities that we enjoyed are too numerous to list, but first to mind are the widow's watch and hammock. If you are looking for a family-friendly place to stay at Sunset Beach we highly recommend this one. Thank you Roger and Joanna for sharing your family home with us.

Was very clean and homey. We had everything we needed. Dishes to games. Relaxing hammock to rocking chairs. Lots of space. Very close to the beach. Walkable to the stores. Would definitely return. Had a great week.

We love Sunset Beach and are so grateful for this family opening their home to be shared with others! The only improvement we would recommend is a small sectional couch in the living room. The furniture in there is not comfortable. Thankfully, there are many other options for hanging out in this beautiful home. We are already looking forward to returning next year!

We have stayed at this house 3 times now. There are so many things to like about it.
Pros: proximity to the beach, hammock, nice, spacious enclosed outdoor shower, and 2nd rinse-off outdoor shower, many porches and outside spaces to enjoy, renovated bathrooms, nice beach chairs (excellent perk - so we don't have to pack our own), beach games, grills, backyard space, well-stocked kitchen.
Opportunities for improvement: living room furniture is not comfortable and doesn't provide enough space for more than 4-5 people. Wicker chairs at dining table are not comfortable -difficult to seat more than 5 people at the table (there are barstools at counter for 4 more), but when playing games, we wanted all 6 of us at the table. Chandelier is spikey - we have hit our heads on it getting up from table. Beds are so-so. One queen is very soft and plushy, other two are too firm for our liking.
This year when we arrived, the house did not appear to have been thouroughly cleaned (sand in bathtub, spalshes on counter, debris on carpet). We reported it to the owner as soon as we arrived. Owner was very responsive with calls and texts right away. My daughter vaccumed, and a cleaning crew was sent to clean the bathrooms within the hour. It did interrupt our dinner, but cleaning crew was very polite and made sure we were satisfied. It did make me question cleanliness overall, but appreciated quick response by owner. House was clean other 2 times we stayed here. Not really fault of the owner.

Loved our stay, house was clean and as described. We have a toddler and the patios were all gated which saved us many temper tantrums. Beach access is EXTREMELY close, and the provided beach equipment made everything more convenient. Highly recommend!

The property owners were very responsive to all questions prior to arrival and during the check-in process. The location was perfect with a short direct walk to beach access.

This house is charming. It was built before the great Sunset Beach housing boom in which many poorly built homes were indiscriminately thrown together, The quality of building is much better (solid wood cabinets, wood siding and shutters, etc) and the many homey decorative touches make it feel more like a family home than a rental. Well-equipped kitchen, two newly renovated bathrooms, lots of covered deck area complete with comfortable furniture and porch swings, hammock, lots of beach chairs, two outdoor showers, kiddie toys, smooth concrete both under the house and in the driveway (great for kid play when not at the beach), easy access to the beach, fun decorative backyard lighting, (grandkids loved this), nice landscaping…this house has it all. Nicely maintained and clean. Highly recommend.

Great location for hitting the beach. House just steps away from beach access. Well stocked home with all the beach gear one needs. Only small issue house in need of upgraded furniture for living room. Could use new couch. Other than that had a great stay and owners were responsive.

Home is well kept with great attention to atheistic and homey details. I feel the homeowner keeps the home ready for his family's visit and holds nothing back from the renters, within reason. The bathrooms were recently updated, the commodes are quiet and water saving. The coffee pot is a Kureg Duo, which is great. The beds are comfortable. There is an ample supply of beach gear for use but take your own shade providing device. The only 4-star rating is due to prior renters not rising off beach gear. This is no reflection on the homeowner or cleaning crew as it's the renter's responsibility if not common courtesy. There is an open outdoor shower and hose station for rising beach gear and ample hanging storage to dry beach gear as well. A private outdoor shower with hot and cold water is provided. A washer and dryer are also provided. The porches are fantastic and there's a porch swing under the house in the shade for cool comfort if you desire. A short walk to an awesome beach. Be sure to take the Koozie's to Sunset Slush for 50c off refills, then return them please.

Great location and many updates!
Roger was very responsive to any inquiries. Bathrooms were just remodeled and very nice! The outdoor rinse area was great and outdoor shower nice and private. We enjoyed breezy evenings in the backyard which has a nice ground platform with a picnic table and two grills. Lighting strung over the area was so nice and we enjoyed cornhole and spending time there together.

Great beach house
We have vacationed at Sunset Beach for over 25 years and love this island. We have stayed in several houses over the years. This is a great vacation home.
Pros: Quick walk to the beach. Great outdoor spaces with lots of seating. Front deck, back deck, under the house, and top deck! 3 porch swings, a hammock, rocking chairs. My daughter and I spent several afternoons reading in the hammock. Grassy area out back with new string lights. Great place to play corn hole! Plenty of NICE beach chairs. Plenty of beach games, umbrellas, small coolers to tote to the beach, surfboards, skim board. Small deck with picnic table and grill. Outdoor shower with room for changing. LOVE an outdoor shower! Comfortable beds. Updated bathrooms. Plenty of flatware dishes, and kitchen appliances. (could use another small skillet)
Cons: Living room furniture is not great. Vinyl couch that is not very comfortable and sticks to bare skin when wearing shorts - though I imagine it is easier to clean than fabric! Bathrooms and kitchen were clean, but noticed glass ring on an end table and some dishes had some residue. Not deal breakers by any means, just noted.
Previous renters had broken the stovetop. Not the owners fault at all - accidents happen and we were well-informed prior to our arrival. We were still able to use stovetop - just not the largest burner.
Icemaker in door doesn't work and icemaker in freezer didn't appear to be making ice, so we had to buy a bag of ice.
Overall really enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back. Owner is very responsive to questions/needs and obviously has put a lot of thought into trying to make your stay at the beach a fun one!

My family loved this property. Owners were very nice and answered our questions promptly. Location of the house is perfect. Quiet and close to the ocean. Had everything we needed. Nothing negative to say at all. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful well stocked home close to the beach
Such a relaxing vacation home. Lots of places to sit outside and out of the sun. Widows walk has seating and a great view. Location is simply perfect. Outdoor shower was used more than the inside ones! We might build one at home. Definitely on our list to stay at again.

But if you’re like us and go for the beach and outside space this is the ideal home for you. If we weren’t at the beach we were on one of the three porch spaces. We really appreciate the personal communication, notification by phone when the space was ready for us, and a check in from the person cleaning the place at the end of our stay to make sure our stay had gone well. We really love how equipped this home is for our beach stay.

Great beach house
Loved our week at Sunset in this cute beach house. We have vacationed at Sunset for over 25 years and stayed in a few houses nearby, but our 1st stay in Sea Palm. Owner is very responsive with questions and has thought of so many amenities that made our stay enjoyable. We love an outdoor shower and this house has 2. One enclosed, and one open for just rinsing off. My daughter loved the open one for rinsing off before coming in for lunch. Many of us never showered in the house - only used the enclosed outdoor shower- which also has space for changing. Several of us enjoyed lounging in the hammock under the house. It is in the shade all day and was so relaxing swinging in the beach breezes. May or may not have inspired a little napping. ;) There are so many wonderful outdoor spaces for sitting - top deck that has great views of the island, sunsets, and a peek at the ocean; front and back deck with comfortable seating and porch swings to enjoy.
We were grateful for really nice, numerous beach chairs as 3 people in our party had forgotten theirs! Also grateful there was a working beach umbrella to use as we lost our canopy to high winds on day 2 of our stay! There were 2 other umbrellas, but one didn't have a base and the other wouldn't stay in the sand and we couldn't get it to click open - I think it was too heavy or too windy. ?? There were also sand toys, a skim-board, surf boards and boogie boards.
The kitchen is very well stocked with plenty of dishes and cooking utensils, pots/pans. We did have to buy a bag of ice as the icemaker wasn't keeping up with us. The beds were very comfortable and provided for great sleep after long days of walking, biking, and riding waves.
Only cons: the living room couch and chairs and the dining chairs were not that comfortable.
We really enjoyed our week and look forward to returning!

Great beach getaway
Always a joy to stay at the Sea Palm! The house is a stone's throw away from the beach and has everything you need for a fun-filled week. We've been fortunate enough to rent throughout the years and always feel at home when we stay.

Wonderful location!
The property was fully equipped with all the beach items you will need. We brought beach chairs and boogie boards and didn’t need them. My grandsons were able to use the surf boards and had a blast! It had 2 grills, gas and charcoal and we used both. Two showers, one to rinse off when returning from the beach and one just for a shower and that was my favorite!

Roger was very communicative and helpful from booking through the end of the stay. The Sea Palm had everything our family needed for a week at the beach - a well stocked kitchen with appliances that were in great functioning condition was very important for eating in. The organized outdoor space and showers made coming and going to and from the beach a breeze with 3 small children in tow. They really loved the ‘foot shower’. We loved the porch swings on every porch for morning coffee and an evening glass of wine and having an outdoor table for lunch between morning and afternoon beach sessions. We’ve booked again for next year!
