About this apartment rental
"High Wind Daze" is Mike and Christina Burns' condo and was recently renovated! With a new kitchen, baths, floors, windows and doors, everything is fresh. It is located right next to Ocean Air Sports in Avon, NC. It's just a short walk to the ocean beaches and a few steps to the sound. Located on the top floor of Pamlico Point, it is the perfect location with the best views in the building! It's the waterman's paradise! Watch the sunrise over the ocean on the front deck with your cup of coffee in the morning and then grab a cocktail for the best sunsets on the East Coast on the rear private balcony. In between you can head out on the water for your watersports adventure of the day, relax in the pool or go fishing off the private dock on our own little creek that leads right out to the sound. There's public access to the ocean side right across the highway, so both sound access and ocean access is within walking distance. For those bringing their own water toys, there's a large storage locker on the ground level to store everything between sessions. If you're looking to get on the water, Ocean Air Sports is right next door and offers kiteboarding, windsurfing, kayak, Stand Up Paddle, and Wing Boarding rentals. The Po House is an incredible restaurant right next door that is open for dinner. We love staying at "High Wind Daze" and we know that you will too!

"High Wind Daze" was the great property for our recent family vacation. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms it was the perfect setup for my wife and I and our two younger children. The property was very clean upon arrival and had recently been remodeled. It was in great condition. The property owner Mike was great to deal with. He always provided very prompt responses to any inquiries. And he lives in the area in the event you have any issues. Although we had no issues and nothing but a great time. Couldn't recommended this property more

Communication with the owner Mike was great. Gave great information and recommendations about places to eat and things to do in the area. Condo was a nice size, well equipped and very clean. The kitchen had lots of pots, pans, dishes, small appliances and newer fridge and stove. Beautiful sunsets every night from the large back deck with plenty of seating. Two things that are mentioned in the listing that I would emphasize is that there are a lot of steps so unpacking and packing is quite a chore. Also, if you are like my family and take lots of chairs, umbrellas, toys etc to the beach; it’s a bit of a hike. It’s just one block away but seems longer as you have to traverse a long wooden walkway and a sandy path across the dunes. We took several beach walks using that access but for our full beach days we drove to the pier which was about 1 mile away. The location is close to the shops and restaurants and only a short drive to neighboring towns. If you are looking for larger activities or chain restaurants it’s about a 45 minute drive to nags head / kill devil hills area. The pool was great. Always clean and warm. We utilized the laundry room which was handy and efficient. We brought kayaks to take right out in the sound with the direct access at the property. The storage locker was spacious enough for our three kayaks and plenty more. There are also kayak storage areas built in underneath the deck. Overall no complaints. Great condo. Great communication. Great vacation.

My husband and I loved this condo and would like to stay there again on our next visit. The view was so very peaceful and we loved sitting on the deck for our morning coffee and our evening downtime.
Mike was great to communicate with and helped make our trip easy.
The condo is super clean and the bed is comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and while we did not use the pool it looked very clear and inviting.
I would recommend this unit to all my family and friends!

Extremely well kept, clean, quiet, and great location. We loved the direct access to sound, pool, proximity to beach and pier, as well as restaurants. Owners’ recommendations were spot on with restaurants and things to do.

We enjoyed the fantastic location for continuing to learn to windsurf, and also taking our paddle boards out on Spencer's Creek right from the condo which accesses the sound. Staying next to OceanAir Sports made it so convenient to rent windsurfers for a morning session, break for lunch, and then an afternoon back on the sound. We also utilized the pool almost every day.
We had fun biking around to restaurants and the neighborhoods. Loved heading to the beach for sunrises, and finishing the day with dazzling sunsets viewed from the deck.

This condo was exactly as described. Mike and his wife were super easy to communicate and very prompt to getting back to us for any of our needs. We will definitely be staying again!!

We had a wonderful time in the Outer Banks exploring, swimming, walking on the beach, and many more wonderful activities. The house was close to everything including a place to rent kayaks and a restaurant. You cn also walk a few blocks or drive to other restaurants. It was a great vacation!

Great time in Avon as usual!
We’ve been vacationing in Avon now the past few years. We are a family that enjoys more laid back vacations instead of “touristy” vacations (we’ve been this way pre covid as well!) We have stayed at this particular building a few times now and just love it. I won’t lie, hiking all your luggage up all those floors is tough when it’s 90+ degrees and high humidity BUT that’s just the price you pay for a perfect view! Mikes condo was beautifully decorated and very clean! I’m a bit of a germ phobic and when we checked in you could literally smell the cleanness of the condo. We did have some unexpected critters on the balcony one day… apparent “midges” that come in swarms once in awhile and leave just as quickly. I contacted Mike because I was perplexed at what they were and he immediately got back to me and even offered to have an exterminator come out. After some research (and Mike even told us) we knew the weather coming in would most likely take them away as quick as they came in. The fact he was so quick to make sure we were comfortable, worth every penny we paid for the condo. We will be back! Thanks for a beautiful week in OBX!

Relaxing beach decorated condo
My family enjoyed staying in such a beautifully decorated condo with beach theme all around. King size bed in master bedroom is very comfy snd roomy. The condo is near good stores especially sandwich brothers , ice cream, food lion for all your needs and Gidgets Italian restaurant and….. duck donuts! It was great to have two bathrooms and bedrooms are separated nicely.

Awesome place
Everything was super clean and beautiful. Mike was very helpful whenever we had any question and that balcony was amazing with the breeze from the sound. Hopefully we get to come back here!

Beautiful water views
This was a very nice 2 bedroom condo. Very clean and moderately equipped, but accurate to the description. The balcony gets a nice breeze and is just a wonderful place to relax and take in the views. Well located in the heart of avon and a short walk or drive to almost everything. I would definitely recommend it.

The floors were filthy upon arrival. We had to clean the floors immediately. They were so covered in sand and dirt we could not walk barefoot until we cleaned up. End tables in the master bedroom to be able to read would be nice. Also lightbulb out in the living room. Deck chairs too low to enjoy the view. As our dog and cat died while we were there, we left early. Not owners fault just all around bad time.

Great Getaway!
What a great property! Very clean upon arrival. The next door neighbors are very friendly and even let us use their little pulley system to bring up some of our bags. The unit is on the fourth floor so keep that in mind when considering staying here. The pool was very clean and we had it to ourselves in the mornings. We loved being able to walk next door and rent kayaks. The restaurant next door (Po House) was absolutely delish. I was prepared for the beach access to not be ideal from previous reviews and it is quite a trek. It’s ok if you’re just taking a few things or going for a walk. There’s great access about 20 minutes south a beach access 43 as well as at a few pull off areas on the way south. The sunsets over the sound are amazing (just bring bug spray)! We will be back.

This was my second time staying at Mike & Christine's condo. It was and is a perfect location for the OBX and everything about their condo is perfect. Exactly as advertised, complete with wonderful recommendations of what to do. We would love to come back again and hope to soon!!

A week vacation
We enjoyed our stay in this home. We enjoyed being able to rent paddle boards next door. Enjoyed some pool time. Loved sitting on back porch. We walked to the beach everyday. We also brought bikes and went for bike rides. Great trip

Great stay in Avon! Will definitely be back!
This property is amazing! We will be sure to come back again. The location is perfect- in a mellow area, but right next to kayak/equipment rentals, Kitty Hawk Kites, and a fantastic restaurant (Po House). Being a corner unit, you can see both the sound and the ocean from the deck. The scenery is even prettier than you can tell from the photos. The condo is very nicely furnished, well-stocked and very clean. We met several of the property owners in the building, and they obviously take great pride in the maintenance of the grounds and property. Mike was wonderful to work with. We thought we may have some issues leaving Avon due to a storm, and he reached out immediately with updates and the offer to be flexible with our stay. It was a pleasure working with him. I would definitely recommend this property, and will return!

PAradise at the beach
1st time booking with VRBO. Initially an issue but owners and vrbo associate hopped right into action and rectified issue. I was a little skeptical as I have hig standards on cleanliness and was very happy with condo. The view is absolutely spectacular from the balcony. Little time spent indoors. Master shower was great. Kitchen appliances were great even though little cooking done. Great restaurants all around. Would recommend this property 100%.

Okay accommodations.
The condo is hard to find at night. The sign needs a light. The bed in the master bedroom seems to be a double, not a queen. We flew to NC. Having to bring towels is ridiculous The kitchen had one towel for drying dishes. The floors were very sandy when we arrived. Actually, the little vacuum in the condo really worked well at picking up the sand. It obviously wasn’t used before we arrived. The bottle of hand soap in the bathroom had been diluted instead of refilled. I know this seems nitpicking, but we flew to NC. We have rented in Europe with more amenities.
There was an envelope on the counter for housekeeper tipping. The housekeeper did nothing for us. She cleans for the owner. Her tip should come from the owner. We were directed to clean before we left. We had a nice vacation but would not rent this condo again.

Perfect location!
We had no idea where to stay as this was our first trip to OBX. We chose this condo based on how nice the pictures looked and the reviews that were posted. We couldn’t have been happier. The easy access to both beach and sound was perfect. We walked on the beach every morning, even saw a baby turtle hatchling going to the water! the third floor balcony became our living room and dining room! Since it faces west we watched the sunsets and we even had breakfast too.
Michael contacted me during the stay about an issue the prior guests reported and offered to schedule a service person while we would be gone but we didn’t see the same issue that was reported.

Amazing vacation at the Outer Banks 2019
The condo we stayed at was very nice, great location, great people in the complex, so much to do for our family. The only complaint I had was that when we arrived I would say the condo wasn’t as clean as it should have been. The floors were sandy, beds were just thrown together and the bathtubs were also still sandy. I also found soap residue and hair in one of the tubs. I’m not going to blame the owner by no means they were super nice and easy to contact, I just think it needs to be brought to someone’s attention for the future. I think the owners believe they have a wonderful cleaner and quite frankly I don’t feel that way. My family and I shouldn’t have to start our vacation and clean tubs and vacuum floors . Other than that we had a wonderful time and I would definitely go back but I hope next time the cleaning experience will be different. Thanks again!
