Being close to the beach and close to town was Perfect!
10.0
Great location and spacious home with plenty of room for everyone! Our family of 5 (2 adults, 2 teens and a 9yr old) had a blast staying in this charming older home. Within walking distance to all the shops (less than 10mins), and just a couple blocks from the beach! We loved staying here and hope to come back next summer!

This was a very nice place to stay. The house was large enough for our group of 7adults. The only concern was that bedroom windows in the downstairs bedroom were not able to keep open; one window would open but not stay up and the other window (street side), when I opened it the whole pane fell out towards me. I was able to put it back in and shut the window but there wasn't much as far as air flow in that room. Overall, a great location, close to town and the promenade. We had a wonderful time.

Showed up with 10 folks 6 adults 4 kids.
This grand old beauty was able to sleep us all just fine. The yard is gigantic and the kids played hide and seek all day long. Great location quick to the beach and Broadway. All sorts of usable items from kitchen and games to beach items.
She showing some wear, this grand old dame, but for a vacation she was perfect.

Deck and overall location!

The proximity to the boardwalk and town was great. The house had everything we needed. The only hair dryer wasn't working on Day 1. I let them know and they brought us a new one that afternoon! Great experience.

House was perfect for a group, the furniture is a bit dated, but it’s very adequately proportioned and appropriated. The layout is wonderful and the lawn and deck are great. The best part about this home is the location. It is close to everything you need to be at. We hope to book it again,
Thank you!

Perfect living room and dining room for conversations in our business retreat. Enough bedrooms for our team. Backyard and deck would be wonderful if nicer weather.

Convenient location with short walking distance to town and beach and had a lot of space in the house.

hey i wanted to go over some issues with our stay.
the garage broke when we tried to close it. not allowing us to close it all weekend. it is in ill repair.
our big issue is housekeep as there was an empty of vodka under the master bedrooms bed found by the kids playing hide and seek. a sock left behind under the coffee table with crumbs and ants next to it. (only found when cleaning up)
a knife broke when i went to clean it.
otherwise thanks for our stay.

Large older house, that can accommodate ten people easily. Very clean and close to beach and shopping. This house would be great for large family’s with kids! Nice large patio and beautiful yard. Property had everything we needed.
One shortcoming the gas stove was missing the fuel line so we didn’t get to grill.

Wonderfully spacious place to stay. Everything was clean and organized. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We loved the history and nostalgia of this house! We are a large group of 10 that attend rod run every year, but have recently started renting homes in Seaside rather than Long Beach. This house is fully stocked with everything you need, so we only packed clothes and food. Of course, cleaning such a large house is a likely a challenge and some windows don’t open (in the room we had) so my husband used a sound machine of the sea, despite being right next to the sea. Parking this many of us was a challenge as the garage was inaccessible despite the listing info. Beds are comfy, everything that really matters was good and we had a great time!

Overall this is a great place to stay. It’s difficult to find a decent house so close to the beach with this kind of space. The yard and balcony are also big pluses. The House is definitely dated and a little rough around the edges. It’s also a shame that there’s no washer/dryer available. But overall we had a great experience and the house worked well for a family with small children.

very spacey and lots of room to lounge. Unfortunately, the house is just too old. It's a great value for the space but certain areas were just falling apart (deck was about to tilt over from rot). No screens for circulation. was a bit too hot during the summer days. The surprise was that it had plenty of kitchen tools to cook for the family. If they invested in upgrade, could charge more and guest will pay more. Still I'd stay again for sure.

Couldn’t use upper deck as railing is about to fall off, pretty scary and a disappointment as that is where the view of the ocean is for some of our party that have a hard time making it to the beach.
Plumbing is loud, beds are less than comfortable (as previous reviewers have mentioned).
Really needs access to a washer and dryer for a big family. I wouldn’t rent again due to that…
Having said that, the house is a good size, great location to be close to town and the beach, big yard, plenty of kitchen supplies for a family of 10. Overall a good experience, and with a few repairs and updates it would be amazing place to stay!

House is a great location! Easy access to beach and promenade. Overall house has plenty of room and spacious yard for games. Really enjoyed the upper deck with ocean view. would recommend having a small table and umbrella up there. House is older so would recommend updated mattress in the upper two bedrooms. Would also recommend washer/dryer especially for those staying longer than a couple nights. Would definitely stay here again

Nothing like the photos...no tv in every room. Clocks all wrong time , No fire pit, Stove top burner out, toilet seat loose (almost slid right off it) Tree branches just freshly cut, in driveway and created an ant problem. Not beachside....had to walk 3 blocks to get to beach. House was spacious but dated. Old everything....expected more; Basement is super scary

House is very old. Upstairs master bedroom linen smelled very musty. Windows don’t open and the few windows that do have no screens. Also master bedroom bathroom window has a sheer curtain that has direct access to house across the street. Had to hang a towel to block the view. Could not get into the garage because the keys don’t work. House needs a lot of remodeling. Toilet seats are chipped, ceilings need repair. It seems the owner did the bare minimum to rent out the house, For the price I paid, it was totally overpriced in my opinion. I was truly disappointed with the house. I would not recommend staying there. .

We didn’t mind the older house and most of the amenities were fine. But what was unacceptable was the power (Electricity) situation. One of the walls on the main floor had NO power! The upstairs thermostat was locked at 55 degrees. We were told because the management did not know where the oil tank was so better to turn off the heat just in case the tank is empty. There were space heaters in the rooms and around the house but this is the problem. We had the breaker trip 6 times between 4-10 pm because we turned on 2 of the space heaters upstairs. So we turned them off and only turned them back on at night. But again, the breaker trip 2 more times between 11 pm to 12 am. We finally gave up and just turned them off. Needless to say, we were freezing while sleeping both nights we were there. Again, an old home is fine but with the amount of money we paid, you would at least expect to have the BASIC NECESSITIES and powers definitely falls in that category! Overall, if we had any choices, we would have moved! Worst experience we have ever had with either AB&B or VRBO and we do at least 4-5 of these types of trips a year and we have been doing this for a long time. If it was not for family that made this even have enjoyable, we probably would have gone home after the first night!

Fantastic location that is extremely walkable to promenade, beach, food, & games. House is spacious with well supplied kitchen. 2nd floor patio nice on a sunny day and the kids enjoyed the spacious yard. The house is pretty funky. There’s some mildew and paint falling off the ceiling. I’m sure it would cost an arm and a leg to renovate. Could use a good declutter and those fake plants either gotta go or get the dust shaken off. The 3 parking spots are pretty snug. I wouldn’t want to live here but I’d stay here again for sure.

The house itself was great. Great amount of space for everyone, bedrooms are large and beds are comfy. Backyard is great! Awesome balconey patio off the master! Old house with lots of charm! However, the description said we could park up to 3 vehicles, 1 in garage and 2 in drive way. There was no way to open the garage and I tried numerous times to get ahold of someone and no one returned my calls. It was frustrating to have a search for parking daily.

Seaside Vacation Extravaganza
Location was great. It was close enough to the beach and to town that a short walk allowed you to visit both. It was quiet with plenty of room for the family. The house could use some light maintenance on things like lighting and sticking doors; however sway from updates as it maintains an older comfy feel.
Everyone wants that vacation where it's sunny with a light breeze and bits of water vapor from the ocean cooling you down. Well.... we did not get that; it was rainy and cold. The house made the vacation; large table for gathering with the family for laughs and gaming. The short walk to town made it a quick jaunt to avoid getting soaked and could still do shopping and eating at the many venues available.

Lots of space, very outdated and noisy.
There was a lot of noises at night due to the heating system. If you have a light sleep this house is not for you. The property was very cold when we arrived. It took all Friday and 1/2 day Saturday to warm up. The place, appliances, kitchen items and the furniture are very outdated. It could use a little update and maybe replacing the worn out kitchen utensils. The master bathroom had a funky smell, scented candles took care of it. We enjoyed the floor plan and the kids loved the spacious. Lots of good spots for them to play hide and seek. The location is very convenient, everything is at walking distance.

The location! The spaciousness! We are six middle aged women attending a conference at the convention center. 5 of us were delighted while one complained the house smelled. The rest of us would stay again! Two very short blocks to the beach. Great for a large family too.

The place was clean and the vacasa team VERY quick and responsive to questions/concerns. But the downsides were the ancient decor/furniture and the kitchen which really needs to be updated. The heater in the house is also VERY loud at night (clanging randomly). This probably wouldn't be a problem in the warm months, but was for us going in April.
Our young kids loved this big and mysterious house, but it wasn't as vacation perfect for us adults.

Never again!!
First thing we struggled to get in. Keys did not work unit was unlocked and we left a door unlocked to reenter.
Second issue THE SMELL! We purchased candles because the home smelled like pee so bad!
Third issue towels did not seem clean. We found hair on towels and bedding.
Rugs were sticky qnd floor felt dirty. They asked for no shoes and it left socks and feet filty.
We took off for the day and came back to find trash added to the garbage can. We asked if someone lived in the basement and never got a response but would see the light on at times and off at other times.
Definitely do not recommend! Could be nice if they updated decor and cleaned better!

Spacious Family Vacation Home
Very large bedrooms, 3 full baths, first floor suite for our elderly parents, close to beach 2 blocks with stair access, private landscaped backyard, historic charm. Fit 10 ppl no problem.

Great house for large group.
3 full bathrooms was good, beds not very comfortable, need updated. Closets had musty smell where extra towels and linens stored. very close to town and the beach.

Locations and square footage was great. House is in need of some repairs or upgrades in bathrooms
A good time because of location and accommodations for our family

Great stay in Seaside.
This is the second time we have stayed at the Governor’s House which should tell you something. It’s a great place for a group. We had eight people (4 couples) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We are only a short walk to the beach and from the Promenade to Broadway, the Main Street in Seaside. We used the BBQ which was like new and worked great. The only negative is that the TV has no cable or satellite service. It only has streaming. Not a huge deal for us since we were chatting most of the time.

Governor's House
The historic Governor's House was once a lovely home. The rooms are spacious and all the bedrooms are large with closets for clothes and suitcases. However it appears to me that the inside of the house has not been painted in 50 years. It really needs some updating. I would also suggest they throw away the half dozen fake flower arrangements sprinkled throughout the house. The connection to the large backyard is not direct, having to go out the kitchen door and through the narrow space between the garage and house to get there. There is a door from the living room that leads out but it remains locked with no keys given to tenants so that was frustrating. The front yard was full of weeds. I feel like this could be a great beach rental if someone cared a little more about the house. Additional towel racks in the bathrooms, a careful interior paint job, changing out the shelf liner in the kitchen cabinets (always bunched up), and a thorough cleaning, repair and painting of the bathrooms is in order. The house has good bones but it is way too expensive compared to other houses I've stayed at of a similar size in Seaside, that are in much better shape.

charming historic home!
This home is a real treasure, with spacious rooms, high ceilings, beautiful built-ins and a gracious elegance. The big backyard was great for our 6 yr old, and the upper deck was delightful. Super comfy mattresses. Easy walking distance to the beach and downtown Seaside. Clean and quiet. Very well stocked and classic older kitchen. Bathrooms are dated but very functional. The best part was the historic charm. We would definitely recommend.

Could be beautiful house - not maintained, not kept.
