Easy walking distance to downtown and Mission Point. Condo was nicely decorated with plenty of room to accommodate myself and an occasional guest. Check in was easy and Jen kept in touch throughout my stay. Five stars all around!

Staying on Mackinac Island in December is a magical time of year. The proximity of the condo to the places I needed to be near was perfect, and we enjoyed the views of all the changing weather. Excellent property. *U* Kathleen

Love the location. Unit is just as shown and owner is so personable and made my long awaited dream of being an island ‘resident’ come true even if for just a short time! Jen has made sure that her home is stocked with anything you might need during your stay and reaches out regularly to make sure your experience on the island is the best it can be. I’ve been coming to the island for decades but being able to stay here for a month has let me experience the magic of this island in a whole different way. Already have future reservations and can’t wait to come back!!

We didn't want to leave!
Jennifer was a great host and so patient with all my questions. She and her home made our first vacation rental experience amazing. Everything was neat and clean. The pictures don't do the view justice. We hope to be back one day!

Month long stay
We had an outstanding time on the Island for the entire month of October! The location is superb, enjoyed the clip/clops of the horses as well as the buoy on the lake, ducks & geese, and the occasional freighter passing by. Jen was a super host. The “towny bikes” that come with the unit needed repairs & Jen was quick to get them fixed.

AWESOME Property
This was our 2nd stay at Hero’s Retreat. We have found this location for all of our activities. I really can’t think of anything that this property needs. Jennifer was always available if we had any questions. I highly recommend this property

Amazing Experience
My husband and I spent the month of January in Jen’s beautiful condo, and our oldest granddaughter came up to spend a few days as well. It had been on my bucket list to spend some time on the island during the winter, and it was a truly amazing experience. The condo was wonderful, very comfortable and had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant. The only thing I regret was that it was too cold to enjoy the balcony facing the water, haha. Would be wonderful to sip your morning coffee out there. Any time I had a question or concern Jen answered my texts quickly, and she texted me a few times to see how things were going so communication was absolutely top notch. Our time passed so quickly, we hated to leave. I would encourage anyone to choose Jen’s condo, Heroes Retreat, for their Mackinac Island vacation. You won’t be disappointed.

Perfect vacation
Our month long stay on Mackinac was wonderful. The condo was clean and had everything you could possible need. If we had any questions, Jen was quick to respond. She gave us many points of interest we didn’t know about, even though we had been coming to the Island for years. The location was ideal. Not too far from downtown, but far enough to have less traffic. Our trip to Heroes Retreat is filled with a lifetime of memories.

Wonderful Proprty
Could not have found a better place to stay. Everything was high quality and in excellent condition. We sincerely wanted for nothing during our stay. The owner was very responsive when we had a question.
Location is excellent. The sunrises in the morning were beautiful. Highly recommended !

Beautiful condo, awesome location
This is a beautiful condo in an awesome location. The beds and sofa sleeper are incredibly comfortable, and Jen is extremely gracious and responsive. One improvement I would suggest is to have additional comfortable seating in the living area. Thanks, Jen!

Great location, generally nice
We enjoyed our stay very much. A couple of things would have made the experience in the condo more enjoyable.
I would suggest removing some of the very large decorative items to make more room for comfortable seating for conversation and lounging. Although sleeping for six, really only one couch for two or three in a squeeze to sit and converse or even watch television. This is important for the required month long stay. Remove the large ( useless) table under the television and add a comfortable reading chair.
Bedside tables or at least reading lights.
Clear instructions about garbage, not just link to city site. Where do you put it, does it go to curb on a certain day?
Overall very nice.

This condo is the most well-appointed vrbo we have ever experienced.
Excellent location - close to downtown but just far enough away to avoid most of the crowds. Very clean, comfortable and spacious for a rental. Kitchen is both well and quality equipped. We have already made our reservation to return. Ed & Diane

A Most Spectacular Place to Stay!
I rented this wonderful condo for the month of June (2018), and had the most amazing time on Mackinac Island! It felt welcoming the minute I walked in, had all the comforts of home, and was just perfect for me and my guests.
Charming and clean, with a great view from the balcony, it was exciting to watch the sleepy island awaken with activity each day! And located near Mission Point with only a short walk into town, it offered the perfect balance for quiet reflection (as the horses clip-clopped by), or immersion into the small town feel of historic Mackinac. It was a very healing experience for me!
Jen was the most pleasant and considerate owner, checking in every once in a while to see if there was anything that she could do to make my stay more enjoyable! She also informed me about the activities and happenings on the island while I was there.
Thank you, Jen, for sharing your beautiful island getaway...I definitely plan to return to this lovely place!

Slice of Heaven
We stayed at Heroes Retreat in May 2018. We found Jen’s condo to be perfect for the two of us and our friends as they came to visit during the month we were there. The condo has everything you would need for a month long stay, plus it is so peacefully located on the island. Close enough but not to close. Thank you Jen for your quick response to our questions and for the crockpot 😃😃 I’m sure other guests will also enjoy that. Mackinac Island is a dream come true.

Great condo and location. I really can't think of anything that would make this a better rental. Jenn was extremely helpful and responded quickly to our questions. We would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Best vacation in years! The condo is in a perfect location, and beautifully decorated.
One month of heaven😊 The beauty of Mackinac Island is amazing. Everywhere you look is colorful. The ability to walk for hours in either the State Park trails or just strolling the East and West Bluff streets taking photos of the historical mansions is a definite plus. The sounds of the horses and buoys at night provides a very relaxing atmosphere.

Best Month Ever!!
I spent the month of October 2016 in this wonderful condo. It was even better than I imagined. It was so nice that it was hard to come back home to reality! The condo was like a home away from home. I was able to rest and relax while staying up-to-date on my work during the month due to the wireless internet access. Everything you need is provided in the fully-stocked kitchen, laundry and bathroom. Two bikes are provided for guests (I brought my own and stored it out back which allowed my visitors to use the ones provided). It was a great deal and I didn't have to worry about a thing thanks to the thoughtfulness of the owner (she even texted me to wish me happy birthday while I was there)! I would highly recommend the property and am grateful for the opportunity to rent it. I am hoping to make a return trip in the future! In my opinion the condo is perfectly located on the edge of the main tourist area. You are close enough to head downtown to grab a bite to eat or hang out at the library but far enough away that most of the day trippers don't venture that far out. I met some wonderful people and made many great memories. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who would love to experience a getaway to wonderful Mackinac Island! Do it---you won't regret it!

A home away from home
I have been coming to the island for many years, and for some time had been looking for a place for an extended stay. I am so glad I found this great condo. I was really sad to leave, because by the end of the month, it felt like home. The location was perfect, and the neighbors were very friendly. The listing is accurate. The owners have really made an effort to make you feel at home. A couple of the things I really appreciated were the internet access and the bikes. I took the girl's bike for several rides, and I really appreciated the big basket for hauling my groceries as well as my backpack.
I had some questions during my stay, and the owner was only a text away - very convenient. I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone. One of my favorite things to do on the island is to hike the trails. Being there in May, I got to see a lot of the spring flowers out in the woods that I had always been missing when I came in June or July. The tulips and daffodils all over town were beautiful as well. The temperature went from cold (winter coats) the first week - to warm (high 60's) by Memorial Day. One big advantage to May is that you avoid the crowds of summer. Sometimes you feel like you have the place to yourself! I'm already looking forward to my next visit, and I will definitely stay here again!

A great property which met our expectations perfectly
A beautiful, well-kept condo which really contributed to our fantastic experience on Mackinac Island. The Third floor unit (elevator access) had a balcony which provided a wonderful view. All the amenities of the island, including the island grocery, library, restaurants and pubs were within walking (or bicycling) distance and enabled us to be right in the middle of all the activities of this magical place. I would recommend it to anyone.

Great Vacation
This is a great unit in an excellent location. If you have the time to spend a month on Mackinac this is an outstanding choice. The unit is well maintained, very secure, has nice furnishings and a good view of the main road on the island. You also have a partial lake view from your small secluded balcony. The condo is directly across the street from Mission Church and only a block or two from St. Anne's, Mission Point, the Butterfly House etc. It's an easy walk/bicycle ride to the many shops, ferry docks and restaurants in the heart of town. It is also just far enough away from all those shops to let you get away from all those tourists. That's one of the nice things about staying for a month, you start feeling like you belong there. You get to know the people and places in a way that you can't do in a one or two day visit. One of our favorite things to do was an early morning bike ride around the island followed by breakfast at the Chuckwagon. We travel a lot and believe that Mackinac is a very special and unique vacation.

My sister and I spent the month of October on the island and had a terrific time. Perfect time of year to explore the island and avoid all of the tourists. The weather was a little inclimate, but we made the best of it. We ended up entering and completing the Great Turtle Half Marathon, quite an accomplishment for two non-runners. The condo was the perfect location, and just the right size for the two of us. Can't wait to go back in 2015.

Enchanting Island, Enchanting home, thanks for sharing.
Last year my family and were lucky enough to spend the month of July on the island, this year, the month of August, all in your home. How lucky are we? Thank you so much for sharing your piece of Mackinac Island with us. I love the location, being close to the restaurant at Mission Point is great. I also love the short distance from downtown so when we have those days we want to get away from all those day trippers we can. I absolutely love being street side in your condo ,being able to look out the big window and hearing the klipty klop of the horses are a few of my favorite things. Your home is so clean , which makes it so inviting, cozy, and comfortable. The well laid out granite kitchen is everything one would need. This year we really enjoyed the added TV and wifi, just more comforts of home. I would highly recommend this property to all my friends and family. Thanks again for sharing.

The condo was perfect for our celebration. We came up for the month of October to celebrate three milestones in our lives. Dick retired in February from a position he held for 37 years. We celebrated our 40 anniversary while on the Island and Dick's better half will "celebrate" a milestone birthday in November. We have always loved the island and decided we would look for a place to spend an extended period there. This condo was our answer. The location is great. Other residents in the building are very friendly and helpful and the condo itself is very comfortable and we LOVED it! Out two children came up one weekend and this made the time there even more special. We recommend this condo and would definitely come back.

The perfect place to create family memories that last a lifetime!
This was our first true family vacation with our two young girls, and it will be a vacation that will be tough to top in terms of location, lodging, and overall experience. From the moment you step on the island, you become entranced with the majestic clip-clop of the horses, the beautiful buildings, and the overall atmosphere that takes you back to a more serene way of life.
The Condo itself is heartwarming and inviting, and you get an instant sense of comfort and coziness with the first step you take inside. We knew as soon as we set foot in the condo, it was going to be tough when it came to bidding farewell. It is decorated beautifully, tastefully, and you feel like the place gives you a giant hug every time you enter the door.
The location is absolute perfection, as you are close enough to all the action downtown, but far enough so you can return back to the condo and relax. Once we put our girls to bed for the night, my wife and I would sit on the balcony with a cocktail while we talked about our wonderful experiences on the island that day.
I would recommend this condo with absolute confidence to anyone that is looking for a peaceful and serene getaway. The owners did an exceptional job of making us feel right at home while we were away from ours. The most heartwarming part was that once we did return home, our oldest daughter kept asking us when we would go back. The smiles on our daughter's faces, along with the countless giggles and laughter confirmed that we made a great decision on making Mackinac Island our first and most certainly not our last vacation on the Island.

Met our every need!
My wife and I are very particular and this is one clean comfortable condo. We’ve stayed here twice (summer & fall) and this is truly a perfect location on the island. Just a short walk and you’re in the heart of town but, far enough away to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There’s nothing like waking up to the clip clop of horses in the morning. If you want to relax and enjoy everything that the island has to offer, this condo is it!

Incredible location, great experience!
This was our second time staying at the condo, we loved it so much the first time (July 2008) we just had to come back! The location is perfect as it is adjacent to Mission Point and is a short walk into downtown from the ferry docks, restaurants, and shops. The condo is very clean and comfortably sleeps 6 adults. We enjoyed biking around the island every morning and the park in front of Mission Point on the water is very relaxing. My family hopes to get back to the island very soon for another memorable stay at this condo. We would recommend renting this vacation property to all of our family and friends.

Great Location, Great Island!!
My husband and I and an amazing time on the island. It was his first time since he was a child and he absolutely loved it. The boat ride was so pretty and went by very fast. Once off the boat the condo was only a short walk away. Which was nice because of the luggage we had. The owners keep the place extremely clean. The full kitchen was also great for the days/nights we just wanted to go to walk to the local market and stay in. We spent our days horseback riding, biking, and enjoying the local night life. The condo was in a perfect location. It was just a short walk to all the bars/restaurants. We are telling all of our friends and hope to return soon!

What a lovely condo!!!
We had a wonderful weekend in May 2011!! The condo couldn't have been nicer----comfortable, clean, and decorated in a very cute nautical theme. The location was perfect for us with Mission Point next door and Main Street downtown just a short walk away. We enjoyed the restaurants and shops downtown----particularly the Seabiscuit Cafe. We love Mackinaw Island and it's charm and history! We hope to come back again this summer, and I would definately want to rent this condo again for our stay!!
