The perfect little place for the two of us and our puppy in Del Mar. Close to the beach, Dog Beach, the trail inland, restaurants, surfing and more. The rental was cozy, comfortable, well organized and had everything we needed. We appreciated the plentiful towels, kleenex and soaps! Thanks you so much for your kind note, too!

We stayed just 2 nights to attend the San Diego County Fair. The host did everything to make sure we knew what was available in the area and inside the home. The outside is very inviting and neatly manicured. The garage was roomy enough to comfortably park our SUV. The inside was beautifully appointed with a beach-themed decor and everything was SPOTLESS! The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen contained everything we needed. We highly recommend this home and would like to have had a longer stay.

We absolutely loved everything about our stay at this property. Everything was nicely organized, comfortable, clean, quiet, beautifully decorated with the latest upgrades to make our stay pleasant and peaceful. A beautiful and quiet retreat space in short walking distance from the beach. Beach chairs, wagon, umbrella were provided for our use as well as laundry facilities. Best of all our fur pups were allowed to be here with us. Highly recommend staying at this property. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful property, close to everything, quiet neighborhood and well appointed. Only thing missing was a cheese slicer 😀. Close to a great walking beach. Definitely will stay again if in the area. Cozy and comfortable.

This is our 4th stay at the Shell cottage! The cottage has been completely remodeled and is beautiful!! We love being nestled in the heart of Del Mar.. We walk or bike everywhere we go…The ocean and dog beach is just a few minute walk .. highly recommend… you won’t be disappointed!!

I spent Labor Day week in the Del Mar cottage with my dog. The cottage is located an easy walk to dog beach and all the restaurants in Del Mar. We had a great time and look forward to coming back to visit again.

Great visit for a family of 4 and dog alike. Very organized and clean layout. I'm reluctant to say too many good things since I don't want it to be booked the next time I try to book this place. Super cute place next to the beach, what more is there to say, am I right!?

We had a great time. The quick walk to the beach was great. We used the supplied boogie boards and surfboards. I'd walk down to the beach in the morning with my coffee and enjoy the ocean. Very family oriented for us. I had my daughter and granddaughter with me.

This beach house was perfect. Well stocked. Very clean. 100 feet to the beach. Close to the dog beach. Had a great time. The only negatives were internet was flaky and the TV remotes didn’t seem to work. We didn’t report to the property manager because we didn’t care with so much to do in the area.

Ideal Del Mar getaway spot
We had a great time at the Shell Cottage! We live in the SF Bay Area and have spent many years driving to La Jolla during the summer but after this experience, we would prob stay in Del Mar from now on.
The house is terrific, the amenities are great and the location is ideal. We had 3 adults in the house (me, wife and 18-year old) for most of the time and it was perfect. I wouldn’t recommend more than 3 adults but a family with 2 kids would work great.
One thing to note if this is important: there’s no cable or satellite TV service, just a Google Chromecast device. We happened to have a Xbox with us and have a YoutubeTV account which was handy because we were able to watch the Olympics in the evenings.
Garage is fully stocked with umbrellas and chairs and towels which makes things super easy to walk to the beach. These items are shared between Shell cottage and adjoining cottage but there’s plenty of equipment to go around. We had a nice family next to us they were so quiet (they prob thought we were loud!)
We had an amazing week thanks to Brenda and team for setting up the house perfectly for renters!

The property managers made sure we had everything we needed including a pack and play and anything you could possibly need for the beach. There’s a small gated in side yard that was very convenient to catch some fresh air without the baby running away. The bathroom could’ve used a little updating, but was still extremely clean. And this style is to be expected for beach properties. Would 100% stay again. Great value for the location!

We came back after having a great visit last year and it was a perfect as we remembered. Location to the beach, town of Del Mar and racetrack is ideal. They provide a great setup of beach accessories that makes it a perfect family friendly spot. We will be back again next year!

Perfect place for fun family beach vacation
What an awesome vacation we had staying at the Shell cottage! Our young girls loved the trundle bed and all the beach toys. The place was very clean and well stocked for our stay. And the 2 minute walk to the beach (this is with 2 young kids and all our beach accessories!) could not be beat! We walked back and forth for naps, potty breaks and food - so easy. We had a lovely beach vacation. Thank you for a fun and relaxing stay, we will be back!

Exactly right
Shell beach cottage is certainly nothing pretentious but still has it all. The location first, is just perfect for walks on the beach daily, then the cottage is very well equipped and maintained with an outstanding service from both manager and cleaning team. My husband and I stayed a month there and could not have been happier. The smart tv made it feel like home being able to connect to Netflix or amazon and continue watching our shows. The abundance of oyster bars and seafood shack was also a highlight for us..and one of our best experience was at brigantine, less than 1/2 mile away. Just as advertised, nothing fussy but enough comfort to make your vacation a little bit of paradise..

Love this area
We ended up staying in both units... Shell and Octopus. And I can honestly say we loved both units! They both have attributes we liked... and we really liked the location near the beach and Del Mar. We walked everywhere just relaxed most days. We slept good because it was quiet and quaint.
We would love to return hopefully under better circumstances and not escaping wildfires.

Great location and fully stocked for family fun!
The Shell Cottage was the perfect home base for our family vacation. The location in relation to the beach was ideal. We were able to rent bikes through the owners and ride up to the playground, restaurants and shops. The best part of the house was all the beach accessories they had available for our beach setup. We had everything we needed for the entire family to have a great time. We will definitely be back!
