About this house rental
BOOK NOW at LAST YEAR'S rates! Property is ideal for 2-3 small families vacationing together, or awesome for a larger family retreat. CANCELLATION POLICY: All of the payment we received with the exception of a $300 cancellation fee will be refunded for cancellations made 60 or more days prior to the check in date. Cancellations happening between 60 days and 30 days prior to check in will be similarly refunded but only if the property is rebooked. No refunds with less than 30 day notice. Note that we cannot refund monies that VRBO has taken on their part to cover their fees. IMPORTANT: This is an Island Property and to get to the property you have to travel by boat which now in the State of NH means you must possess a valid boaters license as you cannot rent or operate a boat without one. (If you have a license from another state, check as most states are accepted) You do need a boat (your own or rental) or make arrangements for water taxi if desired but this gets expensive and is a bit inconvenient. We personally feel that being on an Island adds to the overall character and experience of the home! We are very confident that you will enjoy it as much as us (just read the reviews!) . Strict NO PETS policy. Truly a slice of paradise!
Our rental calendar works on a Saturday to Saturday rotation. Note that during the summer we have minimum of one week rentals. See our calendar and rate schedule for details on availability, we keep this up to date. Thanks.
Gorgeous post and beam log cabin built in 2010 with all upscale amenities. The name of this home is "Waterscape". This 2000 sq ft vacation home sits on 3 acres on the edge of the most wonderful lake in all of New England, Lake Winnipesaukee. The moment you step on the property you will fall in love and begin to decompress from the every day world. Relax in this peaceful comfortable home that has everything you need to be pampered!
You are first greeted as you walk up the gradual ramp from the dock by the 40 foot long outdoor living space, a covered porch overlooking the lake, and in front of that a wooden sitting deck around a very large hearth and fire-pit. You enter the home from the porch into a large open living area featuring the kitchen, living area, game area and dining area. The kitchen is a chef's playground with all new stainless steel appliances complete with dishwasher, granite countertops and large walk-in pantry. You won't be roughing it on this cabin stay in the woods! As you stand at the sink preparing dinner you look over the dining table out thru 5 windows to a panoramic view of the lake. The kitchen is fully outfitted including a blender for those frozen drinks on the porch, to a proper pot to boil the lobsters, and just about everything else you can think of!
The first floor Master Bedroom Suite includes its own separate door to the front porch for those early morning coffees. The MB consists of a queen bed, walk-in closet, full bath with dual sinks, and a separate closet for Washer/Dryer. Each of the two upstairs bedrooms have a queen bed, walk-in closet, and sleeping loft that can accommodate 2 additional adults (but this is where the kids love to sleep!). Each bedroom has two large windows overlooking the lake and a third with a sitting reading nook. All the queen beds in the home have new memory foam mattresses for your sleeping comfort. Each of the 3 bedrooms have flat screen TVs for your viewing pleasure. The upstairs bedrooms attach to a sitting/TV lounge area that has 55" HDTV flatscreen with DirectTV and gaming. Directly above the lounge is the highest point of the house which has a ladder to yet another single sleeping loft area. There is a full bath located directly off the upstairs lounge area that services the second floor.
On the main living area the open floor plan created by the great post and beam design allows for kitchen, dining, game table, and living room areas of the home all to be connected in a wonderful living space. The dining table looks out to the lake and extends to sit 10 for dinner. A second table nearby easily sits another 6 guests. When this second table is not used for dining it is ideal for board games, or jigsaw puzzles. For those looking for more serious gaming the table top converts with a flip to a professional card table for poker and by removing the top entirely it is a very nice bumper pool table.
Surrounding the gas fired fireplace is the living room area with comfortable couch, overstuffed lounge chair, and reclining Adirondack leather chair. The back hallway leads to both the 1/2 bath and the door to the back covered porch and deck that includes stainless steel gas grill and sitting deck. Right off the covered porch you will find a newly installed (2016) luxurious hot and cold outdoor shower with private dry changing area. This is truly the best shower in the house, and is wonderful even in the rain and certainly under the stars!
The property is on a channel that typically is only traveled by the locals which makes it that much more private. It has a sandy area for swimming with a perched beach for sitting and watching the kids play in the water. There's a wonderful rocky point with a wonderful bench for a quiet private moments. You are graced with nearly 300 feet of waterfront.
Mark Island is 93 acres and has just over 30 homes on it. No roads as there are no bridges, just hiking and walking paths. You can hike to the center point of Mark Island which is a mount that is almost 200 feet above the lake. This is the name sake for the island, as it is the highest point on all of the islands and therefore early on became a point of navigation for the travelers on the lake 'The Mark'

So I was nervous about renting a home for a week on an island - accessible by boat only. But there is also something very intrigueing and peaceful - to get away from the traffic, people, etc. This home was all that , and as advertised. We hiked to the top of the mountain (brought the air horn and bug spray should we encounter bears), we boated daily (tubed, water-skied, fished, canoed, kayaked) and did fires nightly followed by board games. We did not turn the tv on once. The host was extremely communicative, bbq was big/easy, outdoor shower, and of course the counter top ice machine ideal for cocktails! I'd return without question - I just need to not hit rocks in my rental boat!! I ruined propeller.

This is the best property on Lake Winnipesaukee. The owners truly care that your time here and want it excellent. Marl Island is an extremely special place and a spectacular central location. Can not say enough good things about these very special owners and property.

We had a fabulous stay. It was truly rustic luxury. The home was meticulously appointed with every amenity from paddle boards, canoe, kayaks to bumper pool, games, music and internet. Appliances to spices were provided in the kitchen. Dockage was excellent for whichever way the wind blew. We wanted for nothing. And the firepit was the greatest.

We stayed at this beautiful lakehouse the week of 4th of July. Myself, husband, 17 year old son, my 15 year old daughter and her friend from school. We had family visit one day as well. We had rain the first day and a half but we were well entertained with the bumper pool, poker and air hockey tables. The house is beautiful and well stocked. And our hosts, especially Jon, checked in several times. I have rented 2 other lake houses and have to say Jon and his wife are the best hosts hands down. I would stay there again and highly recommend!

We have rented houses on different lakes over the years but never found one that checked all the boxes- until now! It was clean, perfectly laid out, well stocked, and had beautiful grounds. The beds were comfortable and my three children loved the air hockey table and game table. The owners have thought of everything. We loved the adventure of living on an island for a week! Owner was very helpful and communicative. We can’t wait to come back.

We have vacationed on Lake Winni for the past 9 years and this is the first time we decided to try a house on an island. It did not disappoint! The entire family loved the house - the firepit overlooking the lake was perfect. The kids loved the paddle boards, fishing from the dock, wading in on the beach, exploring the island, and the hammock! The home had all the ammenities you would ever need. We especially loved the Sonos system, outdoor shower, the firepit, and the Weber grill! Jon and Patti answered all of our questions ahead of time and were very prompt at responding. I wouldn't change a thing - perfect lake living for a week! We hope to return again and make more memories at Waterscape!

Perfect family getaway
We traveled from Florida with our young adult children, teenager, toddler and nanny and had a fantastic time relaxing, boating, tubing and exploring! Waterscape was appointed with everything we needed and things we didn’t even know we needed. Owners were awesome and we would definitely stay here again! Thanks for sharing your home!

Another amazing week at Waterscape
This was the second year in a row that my family (6 adults and 4 kids ages 3-9) has rented at Waterscape and I can't say enough about this property. From the amazing fire pit, the outdoor shower, the beach and swimming area, the tented grill for all-weather cooking, the well-appointed kitchen and the gorgeous views of the lake - this property has it all. Island living can add a layer of logistics - but Waterscape is worth it!

Wonderful place for a family get together. The weather was less than perfect but we spent a lot of time around the game table playing cards. Beds were very comfortable.

Relaxing Week in Paradise
Jon and Patti are fantastic hosts. Waterscape was perfect. The house is beautiful, well-equipped and private. We caught fish off the dock, roasted marshmallows by the fire, listened to great music, hiked around the island and kayaked on the lake. It was a wonderful, relaxing family vacation. Absolutely loved it!!

Can't beat morning coffee on the front porch
We had the perfect few days at Waterscape! Everything was easy from the initial communications with the owner Jon, to the booking, to the arrival on the island. The amount of attention to detail to everything about the stay instantly makes you feel like you are at home and can relax. The house has a perfect balance of modern amenities (WiFi, TVs, etc) while still giving you the ability to step away from the fast pace life and unplug for a few days if you choose.
Our group spent the majority of the time outside on the deck, on the water, and around the fire pit each night. Thank you for having us and we are looking forward to hopefully going back next summer!

Spectacular!
Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children - ages 16, 14 and 10) enjoyed an incredible week at Waterscape before heading back to school. It was a welcome escape. The pictures of the house don’t do it justice. It was “rustic luxury” at its finest.
We enjoyed waterskiing and tubing in the cove right in front of the dock. We brought paddle boards and were able to navigate completely around the island multiple times. Other days we explored using the kayaks situated right on the sandy beach area. We walked the trails on the island and enjoyed nightly fire-pits under the stars watching for satellites and shooting stars. Baby fawn even wandered by the house several times. While the house has Xbox our kids only used it on a few occasions. They loved being outside on the island and spent hours fishing right off the dock.
The house itself is well equipped and could certainly host more than a family of 5. It was clean and comfortable. Jon could not have been more available or transparent in his communication. He even checked in to make sure we had arrived safely.
We had a wonderful time and would stay again in a heartbeat. It was a great experience.

We had a great stay at Waterscape with our three young children -- 11, 10, and 7 years old. All of us want to come back next summer. The cottage is well-maintained and relatively new. It has a calm and rustic vibe architecturally, but it is extremely well equipped -- a well appointed kitchen, decent enough internet connectivity for basic streaming, Sonos, game table, BBQ grill, family dining table, and in-built bunk beds for kids to name some. There was nothing that we missed. The beds are comfortable, and the living room and porch are warmly decorated. We loved the location on Mark Island. The house has a dock with deep water and Wake Watchers for your boat (important!), wooden walkways, a hammock, large firepit between boulders, and a sandy beach for kids. Sandy beaches are rare on Lake Winnespeauke and great for the kids. We used the firepit every night that it was safe and spent time as a family. They have tons of seating and warm lighting. Nights on the island are the best. We spent a lot of time boating and swimming. There is good fishing off the dock if you get a license. The house also has kayaks, and there are several trails on Mark Island for beautiful, shorter hikes. Jon and Patti seem like very nice people based on our interactions, and they are clearly experienced hosts. Jon sent us a very nice message before arrival along with a write-up of instructions and helpful tips. He was available by text throughout our stay. We would very much look forward to staying at this house again.

Wonderful Island Adventure
We had a wonderful week at Waterscape! This upscale cabin had everything for my family which included children. The beautiful firepit was a highlight and allowed us to enjoy several star-filled evenings. The kids loved the beach and the swimming area. I also commend Jon and Patti Moore for their thorough communication and availability to answer any questions leading up-to and during our stay.

Check-in was easy. All the information provided beforehand was very helpful. The house is very clean and organized which made for an enjoyable stay
The internet was on the fritz which honestly I didn't mind a kept my kids off their phones. Other than that everything was perfect I would like to be penciled in for the same week in 2020.
Thanks again for everything and we appreciate you opening up your lovely home to us.
Thanks

Family reunion
Return to Lake Winnipesaukee where I summer as a child with my grown daughters and 11 grandchildren. Could not have had a better time. We were able to get a second home almost next-door so there was plenty of room for everyone. We also had a great weather week.

Relaxing and beautiful stay on the lake!
What a beautiful and peaceful spot in the lake. We started our week with the most gorgeous sunset and finished with a spectacular rainbow. Enjoyed boating (we brought a sunfish and kayaks and rented a pontoon boat). Plenty of space for our college aged kids to enjoy with us. Fun for all. The house had everything we needed and then some. Thank you for a memorable week!

Fantastic house!
We had a great week at Waterscape. The house was perfect for our family and friends and that came to visit. The outside shower was the favorite, but the kids also enjoyed the lofts, while the adults were fond of the porch. Hopefully we will be able to come back next year.

Great family vacation house
This is a terrific lake house perfect for family retreats - lots of rustic charm with modern amenities. The porch is amazing, there's a kid-friendly beach area, and kids loved toasting marshmallows by the fire pit. The bumper pool and air hockey were great for the rainy days. Jon and Patti are top-notch hosts, friendly and responsive. I really appreciated their level of thought and care - they made this family vacation a breeze!

All the comforts of home... and then some!
My family thoroughly enjoyed our time at Waterscape! From the very thoughtful welcoming touches such as the welcome sign to the awaiting message inside along with a bottle of wine and positive words and messages all over the very tastefully decorated home. I have never felt so comfortable in a rental property in my life. Jon and Patti literally left no stone unturned and thought of absolutely everything! Kitchen very well equipped and there was nothing lacking. Beds were comfortable and loved hearing the loons just outside the window and watching the sunrise over the lake. My family ranges in age from 78 to 2 years and everyone found peace and enjoyment at Waterscape! The fire pit is fabulous and we enjoyed s’mores several nights. Sandy area was wonderful for the grandchildren to dig in and build castles. I would highly recommend this home to any medium to large family looking for a refreshing yet peaceful and relaxing getaway! Thank you Jon and Patti for your obvious gift of hospitality!

A piece of Winnipesaukee paradise
We were delighted with out time at this beautiful location. The four of us were very comfortable and there was also room for other family members who came through during our week. The home was comfortable, well equipped and positioned with a wonderful view of the lake. The front porch and fireplace were an amazing place to relax, watch the stars and spend time with the family.
Great communication and help getting things worked out. We would would love to come back again!

Perfect location!!
We had an incredible time staying here at Waterscape. The house and the property are gorgeous and we were able to fish and tube right out in front of the docks. It’s a short boat ride to the dock where you park your car (very convenient). We were able to drive our boat down to Merideth for lobster roll diners and to weirs beach for the arcades with the kids. We had another family with us that had never been to the lake and they fell in love with Waterscape. All and all a great place to vacation. Thanks to the Moore’s for providing the perfect vacation!

Well equipped home. Fantastic location, for a fun filled and RELAXING vacation. You should go.
Planning a family vacation can be difficult, especially with tweens and teens. It is important to have “favorites” for each family member. For our summer vacation, we chose the islands of New Hampshire to explore. This checked all the boxes on our wish list. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay at the Mark Island VRBO for one week in June. During that week, my boys fished from the dock, kayaked, and swam in the clear waters of Lake Winnipesaukee. We had not ventured to New England before and are from Florida, so this was quite a change, and what a delight!
The home was perfect for all of us. The master suite was very comfortable and the kitchen included everything possible for us to cook nightly. My boys had the whole second floor to themselves, which they found to be perfect. A TV in virtually every room, plus a loft for each of the younger boys was a highlight. They played air hockey, and bumper pool. We enjoyed the nightly fire pit, making Smore‘s, catching lightning bugs, and calling loons. Around the fire pit, we read ghost stories from a tableside book about the island folklore and mistique.
We rented a fabulous boat from Shep Brown’s marina and enjoyed many of the neighboring towns including Gibson, Meredith, and Wolfboro. The towns were charming and island life was so relaxing and peaceful. At the end of all our trips, we discuss as a family our “ roses and thorns “ of the vacation. This vacation “ knocked it out of the park “ for our Florida family.

Fantastic
We were a bit anxious about the thought of island living, but with planning and the excellent info provided by the Moore's on Waterscape, it went very smoothly. The place was great, nicely decorated and had everything we needed. The extras such as the games and particularly air hockey, kept the kids busy even when not on the water or outside. The porch was my favorite spot and nightly fires were enjoyed by all. There was even a bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival. A very nice touch. A wonderful adventure!!!

Perfect Vacation Property
Waterscape is wonderful vacation home I have happily recommended to friends. Jon & Patti have thought it through very well. Everything you need in a clean and very well maintained home. The Fire pit is all one needs for a comfy evening outdoors after boating, kayaking, swimming or just relaxing. The outdoor shower was delightful and very freeing. On the occasional rain day the home is stocked w all sorts of cards, games and books. All instructions / hints from the owners made it a very smooth stay.

We love island living and staying at Waterscape was awesome. The house is perfect with all the amenities you could ever need. Ideal Lake Winni Island Location
We wanted to try out vacationing on an island and this was our first time. We're glad we selected Waterscape. We're just back from spending a great week there. This home is the perfect way to truly get away while still having all the comforts of home.
The care and attention Jon and Patti have shown Waterscape is obvious. They have thought of everything. This post and beam home and smart layout is just right. I liked the floor plan a lot. This home offered more than we expected!
The location on the lake is a great launching point for visits to several Lake Winni ports. Waterscape has a great dock and easy access to the mainland. The area between Mark Island and Bear Island is superb for water sports.
The rental process was smooth and Jon responded to all my questions quickly. The Welcome Letter and communications were first rate.
Great place! Hated to pack up a leave. Look forward to returning some day.
