We had an amazing stay at The Pines! You can tell how much thought, care, and energy has been put into the property. There are so many small details to appreciate and enjoy. Lisa did a great job sharing the history of the house, and giving us an overview of the town. This property is an incredibly special place, and we will definitely be visiting again!

I truly don’t have enough words to express how lovely our time was here. It was a privilege to stay in such a gorgeous house but it was the touches the owner and manager made that made it even better. The landscaping was also incredibly beautiful. Very cool venue if you’re looking to do a murder mystery! Truly felt like we were living in Clue. Make sure you spend time in each room as they all have their own character and beauty. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were so pretty you didn’t want to leave them! We will definitely be back.

The Pines was the perfect spot for our family vacation. A BEAUTIFUL home close to hiking and lakes for kayaking and swimming. Inside the house we felt like royalty and the property manager made sure we felt welcome and had everything we needed.

Our extended family does a little retreat together every year, and the consensus was that this was one of our best ever. Pretty much all of our needs were met, and on top of that it was fun to stay this house because of its character and style. Lisa gave us a nice tour at the beginning and was available throughout the week if we had any issues. It was especially nice that all bedrooms were on the 2nd or 3rd floor, so there were no noise disturbances when our sleep schedules didn't align and people were awake on the first floor. I could go on and on about all the nice things this place has to offer.
There were just a couple small issues.
One is that the wifi was bad (sometimes hardly any service on the 2nd floor or none at all on the 3rd). I might recommend getting a router with more range, and also range extenders.
Another is that the basement had a bat (first time I ever saw one in a building!) and some big creepy spider crickets (I'm from long island and these were much bigger than the one from my basement back home). That being said, we understand this is a rural area so we know it happens! But unfortunately it did make laundry a bit difficult for some of us (especially those who were more afraid of the bugs and bat).
These minor issues aside, it was really a pleasure. Thank you Jorge and Lisa and we all are looking forward to next time :)

We got married at a venue nearby, but our wedding party stayed two nights here and all our guests were blown away. It's a gorgeous big house, with plenty of large rooms, most guests even got their own bathrooms.
The beds were comfy (which was great for our guests coming on a redeye from across the country and everyone coming back after a long night dancing and partying), there was so much storage for us, large tables and even boardgames already there. We had a fairly large group, so finding a place for everyone was difficult, but there was so much space here that people could hang out together or be on their own as needed and no one was in the others way. It is an absolutely wonderful house with so much history, our main regret was due to the rain we couldn't take advantage of the grounds as much but there is so much to the house we may not have gotten to it anyway (not to mention lovely big porches so we still were able to be outside when we wanted).
The kitchen was also very well equipped. It exceeded expectations with what it was able to do and provided (appliances and dishware and again, storage space).
Lisa was so accommodating and friendly, there when we needed her but left us to our own devices otherwise. Everyone had a fantastic time and just wished we were able to be there longer. Thank you so much for providing such an amazing property and we hope to be able to stay again in the future.

We chose The Pines for our wedding in July, which was a dream come true! The excellent communication, warmth, and clear information provided by Jorge and Lisa (not to mention the impeccable care for the one-of-a-kind property), made our stay at The Pines so special. We used the park-like backyard and wooded area as the location for our ceremony, and our friends and family absolutely fell in love with it. The house itself, where members of our wedding party stayed, and the full experience, exceeded all expectations.

We loved staying in this fantastic period house. Every room is spectacular and the attention to detail is spot on. Every time we walked into the house we were amazed. And we also felt at home and comfortable. We got a great tour from the property manager, who was accessible to us throughout our stay (although we didn't need her). We really enjoyed our time there.

This house was a Victorian dream and our family loved it. We were raised in an antique shop and both appreciated and were comfortable around all the wonderful antiques. We had a pinochle tournament in the music room, played piano, puzzled, drank tea in the game room, hosted a white elephant Christmas in the dining room as well as dinner, had a genealogy presentation in the library as well as read and read, breakfasted at the kitchen table, hosted a hot sauce competition on the deck, threw a frisbee all over the back lawn, brought our smoker and had an amazing smoked dinner, grilled for Memorial day, spent hours on the porch furniture knitting, talking and laughing and played games everywhere. While we did go out and enjoy the area, the house was the highlight of our time together. Being a historic house, the kitchen is a bit quirky but we appreciated the large refrigerator and managed to cook many fine meals.

We recently celebrated a birthday with 19 guests at the Pines, and I couldn’t leave a better review! The property was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. The rental and check in process was simple; Jorge and Lisa were beyond communicative and hospitable.
The house comfortably fit our guests; everyone had a gorgeous room and private bathroom. The decor and preservation of the house added another dimension and character to our stay. If you are seeking an escape that will really impress your group, the Pines is it!

We had such an amazing time at this property! The house itself feels like its stopped in time in all the best ways and my friends and I all felt like we were living in a movie and had so much fun. The location is great and walkable to some great restaurants as well as drivable to a number of amazing towns. So perfect for a special trip!

This place is incredible - both hosts were very welcoming since day one of booking. I appreciated the asks about the stay and what might be needed leading up to our magical day so, that anything and everything could be accommodated. The hosts also have plenty of resources at the location and connections in the surrounding neighborhoods so, don't be shy about asking. As for the house, it was incredible. My partner and I wanted to bring our families and closest friends for a weekend of "getting dressed up" and this place delivered. Every detail is so incredible and made for the best shots all around. It also overperformed in terms of utilities and needs for a general BNB stay. I don't think there was ever a time I didn't find something or couldn't be resourceful via the instructions of the host. The neighborhood is cute and VERY walkable, so there are plenty of opportunities to get fresh air and just walk around. Stissing House is a must if you need an intimate dinner :)
The stay and hosts were incredible and we're blessed to have been able to call this place where we wed.

We booked this house for our intimate elopement ceremony and a murder mystery party with our closest friends and family and i can tell you right now… the pictures do NOT do the space justice. From the moment we walked into the house it was like being transported to the 1800s. The attention to detail that went into renovating this house is astonishing and i audibly gasped about 10 times when we were on a tour. which is such a nice touch! when we got to town we were greeted by Lisa (who is a GEM!) and she gave us a tour of the property and a little history lesson on the place. I was the murder victim in this house so I literally, got married, laughed, cried, and died here. I could not recommend this house enough. If i could be in love with a property/ experience i would be. ❤️

Impressive house. I'm pretty sure it wasn't built with 9 1/2 baths but all the bedrooms had an en-suite that looked circa 1900. The piano room was so fancy, it was immediately declared "off limits " to all children. The salon was perfect for Christmas morning with 9 grandchildren. The library was "the" place to cozy with a book and had a considerable selection at hand. The Dining room sat 12 at the big table plus 2 highchairs plus 4 at the small table and had a massive chandelier. The kitchen had plenty of space and equipment to handle our party plus. The 2nd floor's 4 bedrooms positively swallowed the 8 adults in period ornate furniture and chandeliers. We even had a spare bedroom on the 3rd floor after putting 6 grandchildren in the 3 "double singles rooms. My sister, who didn't stay with us, voted the left over room's bath her favorite of the house. The chandeliers and woodwork, my favorite is the 3' square table in the servant's quarters, leave a lasting impression I'm sure the whole party will remember this occasion and most importantly MeMere blew out all 9 large candles.

While the house was amazing, I would only recommend staying here if you are not hosting an event. After tons of research my fiancé and I chose the Pines as our wedding venue. We were not given a contract until one month before the event. This was after I was informed that I need to get a generator, a porta potty, and 2 parking attendants. All of which were not discussed in the months prior and all at our own expense. I was also told one month is not short notice for these requirements. He informed us of some personal issues he was dealing with and that was the cause of the delay. We were extremely disappointed in the lack of communication and transparency. We felt we shouldn’t have even been able to book if the host wasn’t able to fit it into his schedule. And it definitely should not have been brought up less than a month from our wedding. During our stay we felt watched the entire time as he lives right across the street, and he had people dropping deliveries off the day before the wedding. The host cares way too much about this property to be renting it out on VRBO. For paying over $7,000 for just the event fee alone you get NOTHING besides being able to stand outside in the grass (not even to go to bathroom). We unfortunately won’t be back due to all the headaches we had to deal with. Which is very disappointing as all the other reviews are great. We also didn’t get our event security deposit back until 2 months after the event. Lisa was very kind and helpful during/after

This property is meticulously maintained and the love that clearly goes into it's restoration shows. The property manager Lisa Wales us through each room of the Pines sharing it's stories past and about all of the remarkable work Jorge has put into each and every beautiful detail of this house. My now wife and I wanted a quiet, intimate wedding "ceremony" and the Pines offered a perfect oasis for the chaos of life. From gorgeous views of the area driving up to the nights spent stargazing with practically zero light pollution there is no shortage of breathtaking moments when you choose to stay at The Pines. We highly recommend!

Family and friends gathered over a three-day autumn weekend. We filled the house, using nine bedrooms to accommodate 18 people. Everyone was amazed at the grandeur of the home and the comfort and space of the rooms (including plentiful hot water for everyone in the mornings!). We gathered for informal breakfasts in the kitchen and splendid dinners in the dining room. The pantry held plenty of formal dishes and glassware as well as all the cooking, roasting, and baking dishes we needed. It is a truly special place.

Spending a weekend at this Victorian house was truly a dream come true! The house is beautifully decorated and impeccably restored, but with modern comforts. It was like staying at a museum, but with the warmth of home.
It rained for much of our stay, so we didn’t really get to enjoy the grounds or surrounding neighborhood, but we didn’t mind at all - it was the perfect place to spend a rainy day! The house is perfect for an intimate gathering with many rooms for people to congregate and everything one might need to cook and serve. We would absolutely love to stay here again.

This was a perfect place for our family getaway. The house has large comfortable bedrooms with attached bathrooms and spacious common areas for people to hang out and enjoy. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything one could need. The house overall is very charming and the grounds are well maintained with beautiful landscaping.

This place is like a museum! Absolutely gorgeous and magnificent. Was fantastic for a family gathering, especially with the set-up like a hotel with en-suite bathrooms for all bedrooms. The grounds are also fabulously landscaped, and there is a magical firepit in the backyard.

I’ve just returned from my third wonderful stay at The Pines. The house is beautiful and functional, the ideal setting for a group of old friends. There are spots where we can all be together, and others where we can trail off for private chats. It’s unusual to find an accommodation with this many bedrooms, each with private bath, and it’s perfect for our gatherings. Our hosts think this is their house, but we’ve come to consider it as “our” house. We will return again next year.

We had a great time - group of 9 adults , place is enormous and well appointed . Fridge is huge and unique. Property manager added to character and was very warm. Little town adorable and other larger towns accessible by car. Definitely friendly ghosts.

This house is really incredible. Perfect place for our group of 19 family members. We cooked both nights in the fantastically appointed kitchen and ate like royalty at the long table in the formal dining room.
The market around the corner (Peck's) has everything you didn't bring (or everything you need). The lawn was perfect for us to set up and enjoy badmitten.
Check in included a really fun tour of the house and property with some stories and history.
Highly recommend.

Our group of 9 adults loved our stay. The house is remarkable, even more beautiful than the pictures. We thoroughly enjoyed the time at The Pines and highly recommend it. Lisa met us when we arrived to give us tour of the house along with an overview of its history. She provided us recommendations for dinner and made the reservations for us. She was very responsive prior and during our stay.

It could not have been more perfect. The hosts were welcoming, friendly and responsive. The home was exquisite and it was fun learning about the history. It was like a museum but at the same time comfortable and provided the perfect environment for our family celebration.

The house is incredibly unique and interesting. Our group really enjoyed exploring it as well as the town. Would definitely recommend and we plan on visiting again.

There are not enough words I can think of to describe this insanely immaculate mansion. It is basically a museum. If you are a fan of the game Clue, you will feel you have just entered the house that the game is based on. Or if you are a fan of Scott Fitzgerald, you will be transported into The Great Gatsby. Not one of our 20 guests who came to the house did not drop their mouths and simply become speechless when they first entered The Pines. The photos on VRBO are great but they simply cannot do this place justice. The more you know about old homes and classic furniture, the more blown away you will be.
Jorge was very nice and he apparently is an engineer who restored and maintains much of this house himself. Unfortunately, he was out of town during our stay so we never met him but he has a very knowledgeable local associate named Lisa who gave us a tour and was on call at all times in case we had any needs or questions. Lisa is a local who knows every business and every person in town, and we took her advice on ordering some takeout lunch at the local Mexican restaurant which was very good. The rest of the time, we cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner in the catering-level kitchen. There is an old 3 door ice box that was converted into a refrigerator, and it is the biggest fridge you've ever seen in a home. I brought a bunch of coolers with ice for no reason. There are 3 ovens and a huge viking stove and a large outdoor propane grill. If you want to cook for a crowd, this is the place for you.
My guests all asked me if we were going to go hiking and other things like that, but in the end, nobody ever wanted to leave the grounds. There are acres of land to walk around in, including a wonderful cemetery adjacent to the house which everyone really enjoyed visiting. I guess you have to be the kind of people who enjoy walking around in cemeteries, but that's us. But we also played outdoor games all day, including a kickball game of kids versus adults. It is that kind of spectacular environment at The Pines that makes you want to do extraordinary things.
There was am unexpected spring heatwave up to 90 degrees one day, and the house stayed cool, with split unit AC's in the kitchen and all the bedrooms. What more can I say? Every one of our guests wants to return. Some of them have not yet turned 50 yet (This event was for my wife's 50th birthday), so if I am lucky maybe one of them will invite me back to The Pines for their own party.

The house is absolutely stunning, and the hosts are very responsive. We hosted a large dinner for friends and found that the kitchen had everything we might possibly need (stand mixers, cuisinarts, pans, etc) to prepare a multi-course meal. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and hope to come back again soon for a repeat.

The house was beautiful and accurately described. The host was responsive. Beds are super comfortable. The kitchen is well-appointed. Awesome dining room table to spend time together. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays. We would definitely stay again. It would be a great couples getaway in addition to a family get away. It would be great in warmer weather especially to take advantage of the beautiful porches. The towns around the area were great to visit.... awesome hiking trails nearby and a great place to run as well.

The Pines is absolutely amazing. Jorge and his team have curated a truly amazing property that is perfect for large groups. The common spaces are all ornate and well suited for intimate gatherings. The kitchen has all the tools you might need. The photos don't do it justice, the house is amazing. Overall a perfect venue and next time I need a place to gather for a celebration I would happily stay at The Pines again.

We moved our family’s annual Thanksgiving retreat to The Pines this year, and the house accommodated our needs quite well. Jorge (host) was very responsive to the unfortunate shut down of the boiler on Thanksgiving Day. We are definitely considering coming back again next year.

This house was stunning and so well cared for. Jorge was very communicative and gave us a full history on the property which we enjoyed. It was the perfect backdrop for our team retreat, and there was ample room for nine of us. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and more. Hard to describe how wonderful this place is. We didn’t want to leave!

The property is spectacular in every way. Pine Plains is the cutest little town and The Pines is it's highlight! Jorge the property manager and owner was a delight...so easy to work with, informed, kind and easygoing. We had everything we needed, the property was impeccable and made all of us so happy. Oppulent living quarters with many rooms for privacy and many rooms and fabuloous outdoor spaces for large gathering. Conveniences were all accessible by foot and the house was incredibly equipped with EVERYTHING! We loved every minute and can't wait to return!
