About this cottage rental

Casa Playa is a spectacular beach front vacation home on PEI's south shore overlooking the Northumberland Strait. Watch magnificent sunsets from the comfort of the large outdoor deck or the indoor living area. Enjoy the miles of sandy, secluded beaches that are great for swimming and beach combing.

The combined living, kitchen and dining area looks out to the large yard and waterfront. With vaulted ceilings, massive stone fireplace and wood throughout the living area gives a country feel in a beautiful environment. The kitchen has all the comforts of home, including dishwasher, and an island with seating. There is also wireless internet and a large flat screen TV.

Up the wooded spiral staircase is a small loft area looking out toward the water with a games table and treadmill. Through the loft area is the large master bedroom with king size bed and master bathroom with huge jetted soaker tub, walk-in glass shower and double sinks. Back on the main level there is another full bathroom with laundry and 3 bedrooms. The 2nd bedroom has a queen size bed and the 3rd and 4th bedrooms both have single over double bunk beds.

Outside there is lots to do as well. Lounge and dine on the sundeck, or relax on the covered porch. Roast marshmallows around the outdoor fire pit or head to the beach for a swim, a walk or treasure hunt for sea glass. There is also lots of room for the kids to run in the huge yard.

We are located in Victoria West, less than an hour’s drive from Confederation Bridge. We are an hour and fifteen minutes to Charlottetown and the International Airport. Our location on the North Cape Coastal Drive gives you a wonderful starting point to explore in all directions. Abrams Village, the musical showpiece of The Evangeline Region of PEI, offers daily programs of musical instruction, concerts, and shows. Further south, you can explore the West Point Lighthouse and beautiful harbour. Walk for miles along the sandy beach. For more beach combing, try Cedar Dunes Provincial Park. Who can resist a visit to the Potato Museum in O’Leary or the fascinating display of traditional basket weaving at the Island Traditions handicraft store near Richmond. Follow the North Cape Drive up to the Stompin’ Tom Centre Skinner’s Pond, where you can enjoy dinner and a show. Your northern destination will be the North Cape Lighthouse. Explore the wind farm and venture down the hiking trail that weaves its way along the bluffs.

Beautiful location. Right on the beach. I would recommend water shoes as it is a rocky beach. Property was lovely and well maintained.

Overall this cottage was a beautiful location and private. The few things I would say it needs to update living room furniture, and bell tv box didn’t work not that your there to watch TV but it would’ve been nice on the rainy nights. Space worked well for our family of six. There are reviews from 2019 taking about the TV and the furniture

Lovely cottage, spectacular water views, incredible sunsets, spacious outdoor dining & living area, massive upstair master suite & ensuite, full amenities kitchen, then some!! Scenic & Secluded! Great Beach Walks...(water shoes required to get out past the small rocks, then sand bars) Would stay again. Only issue was satellite tv wasn't working. However; Excellent wifi and smart tv. Loved this cottage and its location to the water. There was more room than we needed. We travelled all over the island during the week, enjoying scenery, lighthouses and seafood. The cottage was the perfect place to relax at the end of the day and enjoy spectacular sunsets.

This property is located in a quiet area with beach front and easy access to several hamlets and sites. The home itself can accommodate all ages. It has a loft equipped with an electronic game table as well as a treadmill and board games. The patio offers a lot of useable outdoor space to visit and view the ocean and look on out at an oyster farm. The host and keepers were easy to connect with and super friendly. I’ll be back!

Great cottage by the water with everything you will need.
Great cottage by the water with everything you will need.
We were extremely happy with the cottage. The owners have thought of everything; beach towels, marshmallow forks, fully equipped kitchen, games, movies, fire wood and the list goes on. The water views are fabulous. We were 10 adults and we had plenty of room. The only thing to consider is the location. If you plan on doing lots of sightseeing and activities, it is a fair drive every time.

A wonderful location, much peace and quiet
A wonderful location, much peace and quiet
While we really liked the location we experienced a number of issues, the majority of which we chose to overlook/deal with on our own due to the havoc created by Dorian. The dishwasher was literally full of dirty dishes, some of which didn't come clean even after running the 'heavy' cycle. The towels set out in the bathroom were torn, but clean. Wife found some laundry in the dryer. Floors appeared to have had a cursory, at best, sweeping. We never did get the propane fireplace to work. But as stated, we were struck by the damage we saw as we arrived on the island, and the reports in the local papers indicated that trades people and service folk were flat out dealing with the storm's aftermath, so we tried to do our part and not be whining tourists about stuff we could take care of ourselves. More bothersome was the lack of lighting suitable for reading and/or needlework in the evening, and the broken down overstuffed furniture. The recliner was only semi-functional, and the sofa had been 'repaired' with large amounts of tape to disguise the fact that the seatback on the end closest to the sliding door was broken. The lighting and the living room furniture were disappointments. Having covered some of the issues we experienced, we loved the location and the privacy. We were able to get our dog out for a 2-3 mile walk every morning, the weather was very nice the majority of our time there, we spent many hours on the deck enjoying the sun and the activity on the water. Conversations with a few of the neighbors were delightful, and the MBR with full bath was wonderful. We really enjoyed the two weeks, and returned to Vermont well rested and happy. A few other notes, I'm guessing as it was well past normal tourist season, the waste and recycling pickups had not recently occurred on our arrival, nor did any take place during our stay. There were a half dozen canine 'deposits' randomly around the lawn, not from our 30 lb dog, but from a much larger animal. Would have turned off the lamps along the driveway if I'd have found a switch, as we're not afraid of the dark. Bottom line: we really enjoyed the stay, don't hold the cleaning issues against anyone, as we assume folks had much more pressing issues to deal with. Seriously recommend that the overstuffed furniture in the living room area be replaced, and some brighter lighting to accompany comfortable seating would be appreciated. Would not hesitate to recommend, may consider for next year's trip.
