Ericka was an amazing host, she gave us a tour of the property and it’s history. The house itself is enormous. A rare find in Ocean City, and it’s historic charm is a true gem among the modernized/new construction craze of the shore towns. We stayed here for the weekend after our wedding reception with our closest friends, it was a great way to extend our special day. We would gladly stay here again.

Can’t say enough good things about the property or Ericka (the host). The place is huuuuuge. Def old school, but the pics showed it and added to the uniqueness of my girlfriend’s 30th b day beach weekend. If u want to have a large family get together or get a bunch of old friends together this is your place. We will be back!!!!

The house is Amazing and was perfect for my family of 14. Impeccably clean, communication with the owner was outstanding, and the location is perfect. This is the best rental experience we’ve had. We will definitely stay here again.

My group of friends and I had an amazing time! There were plenty of rooms and space for everyone. The family room was the best one considering we all gathered and enjoyed ourselves. Nelson was a fantastic host and communicated everything promptly. Can’t thank you again!

Family Fun in Ocean City
Plenty of space! Property Manager, Nelson, couldn’t be nicer. He was very responsive to our requests. I had my 5 grandchildren and their friends down for 2 weeks and the house was perfect for all of us. We hired Chef Patty, who was very creative and catered to the kids. We also hired 2 Housekeepers, Miss Margie and Miss Estella, who kept the house super clean and also washed towels and did laundry for us. They were like family to us!

Perfect for a large group!
We had a group of 15 for a bachelorette party. Plenty of space for everyone, well stocked kitchen, easy walk to the beach, and CLEAN!
Some parts of the house are a bit rundown, but the AC worked well, furniture was comfortable, and Nelson was friendly and easy to communicate with.

The property itself is not bad with location, parking but for the rent charged some basic improvements need to ge done.
Needs improvement things -
The stair carpet is torn and is an accident waiting to happen.
One of the bathroom has no locks and its a common bathroom so thats basic thing.
Better communication with owner. I did not have his cell till 28 hours later but was communicating by email which is not the easiest way.

Fun Stay Over New Years
This is a very big house and is largely as advertised. It is a great value if you have a very large group. We had a family gathering and the house fit the whole family (it has been an issue to find a large enough place that is affordable). There are beds everywhere in the bedrooms, ideal if you don't mind packing in to save a few dollars.
The house is very conveniently located near the grocery store, Starbucks and especially the Boardwalk which we enjoyed have easy access to. The arcade is right at the end of the road and it has 10 cent SkiBall!
Nelson was very responsive. He took care of the couple issues we had with the internet in a prompt manner. It isn't the right place if you are looking for luxury, but it is a great value if you are looking for a place for a large group on a budget.

The Perfect Meeting Place for a Large Family!
Our family found this property warm and inviting. Nelson, the owner greeted our first arrivals, welcomed them to the home and made sure that they were comfortable and knew where everything was. Besides the 11 bedrooms and kitchen/dining area, there were several gathering areas where we were able to lounge, talk and play games.
Our Family Thanksgiving was great! Besides being thankful for family, we are thankful that we found this property.

Great retreat house!
Every year our group assembles at this location to reconnect and relax. The convenience of every one having their own room, open kitchen use, grand covered porch and close proximity to boardwalk and beach make for a wonderful stay. If you are looking for a family-style place to vacation - this may be the one for you.

The house is huge and in really good proximity to the beach? What else do you want? The decor is slightly dated and the house works better for large groups than sets of couples (for instance). Several of the rooms only have single beds. That said, it has a nice large living area on the 1st floor, a condo around back and Nelson (the property manager) could not be more friendly.

Vintage home away from home
Loved this old home . Felt like grandmas house in a sense that the style of everything is very outdated , but if you can put aside modern taste , it is a beautiful huge home with plenty of space and things to see and do.
We booked this house for a family reunion and had about 35 people ranging from baby all the way to adult , and we all had something to do!
I would recommend bringing a wagon if you have kids that get tired of walking in the boardwalk :)

Charming Ocean City Getaway
I rented this house in order to host a bachelorette party for my baby sister, as well as 20 of her friends! Every woman commented on how charming the home was; and how wonderful the location was. The owner was attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend!

Family Reunion
We had a great time at the Sassafras Lodge. A total of 23 adults and two very little ones. The lodge had plenty of room for all. Accommadations were very comfortable for all, with a great living room & fabulous wrap around porch. Location was excellent, very close to beach, local eateries and groceries. We came from the 4 corners of the country for this reunion & it was near perfect.

Very large place in a great location.
We stayed here for our annual family reunion and the land owner was extremely accommodating and kind. The house is very close to the beach which was great for our whole family, and with all the space available in the house we were all able to spend time together watching movies, eating food, listening to music, and in general enjoying each others company. Would definitely recommend, it was a fantastic stay!

A really nice location
We rented this whole house for a high school graduation trip for 20 students and 6 adults. There was plenty of private space for introverts and common space for the extroverts. And, it was easy to separate genders between floors. The location is really great, right by the boardwalk, and the kids found lots to do. The reason for the 3 star review is the kitchen. It really is far too small to handle this size group (and it is supposed to handle up to 40?). The dishwasher is tiny--smaller than what I have for my family of 4. There also is not space for everyone to sit together for a meal. I would recommend this rental, but you should understand what you're getting when you book.
