About this farm stay rental
This beautiful and fully restored 118-year-old farmhouse, built by one of the original pioneers in the Wenatchee Valley, is situated on 23 private acres in Brender Canyon, about 20 minutes from Leavenworth. With over 3,000 sq. ft. & 3 full stories, the farmhouse includes a huge stone wood-burning fireplace, comfortable furniture, carpet, lighting, hardwood floors, new bathrooms and fixtures, flat screen TV with a large movie library, beamed ceilings, antique furniture and period pieces throughout. There is a 10-foot dining room table handmade from the 100+-year wood made available during the restoration. There's a large wrap-around front deck with outdoor furniture in most seasons.
Five full bedrooms with an outdoor screened summer sleeping porch. The former attic was completely remodeled into a modern game room & den complete with large screen TV, ping pong table, game tables, and 2 large couches. New carpet, vaulted ceilings and ceiling fan plus modern lighting is throughout. There is only partial A/C in the summer, but the huge surrounding Black Walnut trees keep the house cooler than normal. We also have fans throughout.
The real charm from this historical property is in the land and surrounding vineyard, orchards, huge Black Walnut trees, flower gardens, pristine hills for hiking. These acres adjoin Forest Service Land for a peaceful setting with elk, deer, and other wild animals always close at hand. This is the perfect family getaway for a weekend or a week with Leavenworth so close, the Columbia River for boating, and quaint & quiet Cashmere with its parks, Pioneer Museum, Aplets & Cotlets store, wineries, bakeries, restaurants, little bowling alley, and huge antique market places. The Wenatchee River is nearby for summer floating.
Please note: Also, national holidays or some festival weekends require a minimum 3-4 day booking. Up to TWO friendly dogs are permitted as long as they are not left alone inside the house or allowed on the furniture. They are not allowed in bedrooms. Significant alcohol or questionable parties are NOT permitted. Five car parking limit without prior permission. No camping, RV's, snowmobiles or ATV's are allowed. Event fees (with prior permission) may apply for groups with attendees not included in farmhouse overnight charges.

Great location to access Wenatchee, Cashmere, and Leavenworth. Peaceful urban neighborhood in hills. Lots of space in the house to spread out or gather. Very comfortable.

The farmhouse is one of our favorite places to stay. We especially love the large living/entertaining areas. Room for people to be together or on your own. We wouldn't mind if the dishwasher worked better! Julie is always flexible with us. We look forward to staying again!

The farmhouse was the perfect place for a friends/family gathering to celebrate a milestone birthday. There were tons of comfortable sleeping options and having a nice long table to do family style dinners was a huge plus. Great location, friendly and responsive hostss.

We had a wonderful time in the home for our family get together. There was more space than we expected and it allowed us all to have our own space when needed. We loved that the teens could play games upstairs while the adults were on the main floor. Very well stocked! Plenty of everything for us to prepare our meals. And the manager/owner was very responsive.
Loved it!! Thank you

This place was great for our family of 9. It was very clean and had lots of room for us to spread out. Great number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Centrally located to all of the activities that we wanted to do. A big thank you to the owners for decorating for Christmas. We had a wonderful Christmas day celebration together and will always remember this time together. The kids were able to sled in the yard after getting about 4 inches of snow. Will definitely rent again if we are in the area.

Such a gorgeous house with so many wonderful things to see. The pictures don't do it justice. It was amazing. We can't wait to come again!

This is a tough property to review, so please read thoroughly. The house itself was a solid 4-star property. It was clean, spacious, fully equipped and welcoming. The only reason I wouldn't give it a 5 is because it is 200 years old. As such, there is zero sound proofing between rooms. We had 6 adults over the age of 50. I heard every creaky, middle of the night, trip to the bathroom. Just expect that if you choose to book a stay.
Although the property itself is a 4 (in my opinion), our experience was a 2 at best. Hence my overall rating of 3. The biggest issue was a rooster! We stayed 3 nights and each morning between 4:45 and 5:00am we were awakened by a rooster screeching/singing loudly. Then every 15 minutes it would repeat itself just to be sure no one got a good night sleep. I had two teenage boys with me that I can't normally wake up with a blow horn. But neither of them was able to sleep through this crazy loud bird! We requested the owner come get the rooster, but she was unable to help. At which time she informed us that it is a farm and that's what you get on a farm. To be clear, the rooster does not serve a purpose on this Farm/Vinyard. It is a prop and unnecessary. Had I known there was a chance this could be an issue, I would have never booked this property. TERRIBLE!
If you want a good night sleep and the rooster is still there, I suggest looking elsewhere. If you don't mind getting up at 4:45 am while on vacation - go for it.

We brought our kids and 5 grand kids (ages 1 to 7)for our annual reunion and this house was perfect. The dining room table was big enough for everyone. They even provided a high chair. The house is stocked with everything you need from extra swimming towels to paper plates and a frog full of condiments.
We stayed on a hot weekend with 5 small children. I was worried the house would be too warm to enjoy, but the shady trees kept it cool. We enjoyed the public swim pool and parks but spent most of our time together at the house. The back porch was perfect for evening adult gatherings after the kids were in bed.

Julie was very easy to work with and willing to accommodate our changing plans. We had a small hiccup on check-in, but that was easily fixed. The house is HUGE - we never felt crowded, and everybody had their own room and space to move around and play games indoors or outdoors. Would definitely book this place again for a large family gathering.

This farmhouse provided the greatest Thanksgiving I never knew I needed until we got it here. Our family is large my husband and I brought 3 of our grown children and their spouses and children to Cashmere and my mom also joined us. 4 generations of family and we all were in love with this farmhouse. It's big enough for everyone to spread out and have space. The dining room table was the best part we made big meals and sat at the table and ate family style which is something I know I didn't know I needed it until we were all gathered around passing dishes. This property gave us a place to sled safely for our 5 year old granddaughter as well as us older folks that couldn't resist a trip down the hill too 😀. The remoteness is just right. The silence in the snow in the early morning was majestic. The echo of the canyon was joyous. I cant say enough about how much we enjoyed this home and our stay and that we can't wait to do it again. Thank you so very much

Our family gathered from NYC, IN, FL, CA, & WA, & we so enjoyed our stay! The big kitchen was perfect for cooks & eaters alike (appreciated the bottled water) & the huge living room had places for singular and group activities & the huge dining table was perfect for our crowd. Most of the time we visited or ate on the porch, walked the neighborhood & hiked the hills, devoured the Anjou bakery pastries & sourdough, played croquet under the old walnut trees, talked back to the turkeys, ping ponged on the third floor, etc. Although we were there during the heat wave, the AC kept us cool in the late afternoon & most didn't use
it at night.

The house is referred to as 'The Farm House ' and it is what they say it is. It's well used, cute decor and although its advertised as having egg laying chickens, really the only poultry is two turkeys and a rooster. Being a farm girl I was drawn to the birds and visited them everyday, cleaned their coop, kept them cool in the extreme heat, made sure they had adequate water and fed them leftovers.. As for the house, it does state it has air conditioning but I found out upon arrival that it's not central air. Which is an over site by me. They have some air conditioning units in a few bedrooms but not all the bedrooms ( leaving part of our family to stay somewhere else defeating the purpose of us all being together) With the heat wave of 108 + everyday it was hard keeping the house cool. The house is large with plenty of bedrooms and comfortable beds. There are 4 full bathrooms and the house is well stocked which was nice. Any other time of the year the house would be comfortable but we just happened to be there in the hottest part of July. Location wise, it wasn't as convenient to Leavenworth or Wenatchee but it's in a quiet part of the country making it nice to enjoy evening outdoor conversations. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and the house looked tidy but I did some pre-cleaning before the rest of our family showed up. The chairs at the kitchen table had crumbs on every seat. The freezer ice box was a mess so washed it and kept it full with ice. Above the fire place on the ledge was in dire need of dusting and the stairs to the attic bonus room had not been vacuumed nor had the bonus room. So it's the details, but the owners were very nice and helpful and easy to get a hold of. Would we stay there again, probably not but only because it didn't suit our needs although we did appreciate being able to bring our dogs.
It's a nice place if you're looking for a country vacation.

Fantastic Farmhouse
This was a wonderful stay just outside of Leavenworth! The property beautiful, turkey's friendly and a lovely space to make family memories. Please note it IS a farmhouse on well water, so you will notice a scent. Perfectly fine to drink! The dining table was an amazing space for family dinner.
Highly recommend :)

Family gathering in Cashmere
We loved staying in this old farmhouse in Cashmere! The sleeping options were many, and the kids loved the attic game room and the adults enjoyed the quiet two floors down. Everything we need to cook was provided. The kitchen is funky but perfectly functional. We loved the big dining room table for everyone to gather, and the little sitting area in the middle separate from the TV area. The porch was also excellent. Family staying at the house as well as family from in town visiting us for dinner were well accommodated. The kids and dog really enjoyed exploring the property. The only reason this isn’t 5 stars is the strong smell of the water. We’re grateful the hosts provided water for drinking, but the smell of it was really strong while bathing as well. With some kind of filtration system, this would be the perfect large group getaway. We hope to return in the future!!!

Charming Farmhouse
We enjoyed our stay at this charming historic farmhouse. The location halfway between Leavenworth and Wenatchee in Brender Canyon was beautiful, and perfect for families. We skied Mission Ridge while there, which is about a 40 minute drive, not too bad and the place is worth it. The home has a wonderful eat in kitchen, which worked great for everyone to gather while making family dinners, and perfect for breakfast in the morning. The large dining table in the formal dinning room was awesome. So nice to have a table large enough for everyone, and all the dishes on the table to pass around. Lots of bedrooms, and they even had a ping pong table in the attic! But the best thing was the chickens that supplied us with fresh eggs every morning. A real treat!

All the amenities for family get together
We had a fabulous time.
Flexibility- owners were great about communication and allowing us to switch dates when an emergency came up.
Communication-
The notebooks were very clear about boundary lines, what to expect and fire safety. I very much appreciated the multiple fire extinguishers and posted fire escape routes
House-
It is as advertised large and can fit many family members comfortably.
Amenities- Piano and ping pong were favorites. We enjoyed playing hide and seek. We hiked up the hill in the back and went sledding.
Downside-I wish there was an easy way to even hook up to our own accounts like Netflix or Disney plus. Movie selection was limited for children.
Cost-Reasonable for the size but it’s a bummer to pay per person which can quickly double the rate.

Comfy farmhouse
It was a cozy , relaxed stay. It felt like home. We had everything we needed. Everything was clean. The only complaint I heard from my group was that the beds were not all that comfortable. Mine was fine. I would rebook at this property.

Love this Farmhouse!
A wonderful, spacious farmhouse with fresh eggs outside your door. The house had everything my family needed. We were able to spread out, enjoy the historical aspects of the home and talk with the turkeys 🦃. I’m hoping to visit this house again, it really felt like home.

Christmas at the farmhouse!
We spent our Christmas at this beautiful farmhouse. It was decorated for the season beautifully!!! Perfect spot to spend Christmas there were 12 of us and there was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space with a 3rd floor for the teenagers.
The house stayed nice and warm in very cold temperatures. Although the water does have a sulfer smell from the well, I know they are actively trying to remedy that minor detail.
There is a nice hill in the yard for sledding and the kids enjoyed feeding the chickens and turkeys with the leftover scraps.
The house was well equipped with everything necessary to keep everyone comfortable throughout the stay.
Overall it was a great stay and we would love to go back again!!!!
The owners were easy to communicate with and were prompt on getting back to me if I had a question.
Thank you!!!

Cashmere farmhouse
Our group of friends has been going to the Brender Canyon Farmhouse for more than ten years, annually (except 2020) for a weekend get together. The house is perfect for a group, given the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, of course. But, it has great indoor and outdoor places to gather, or relax, including a beautiful large dining table. The kitchen is furnished with everything one might need. The hosts obviously care about the place and the experience it offers guests. I guess the fact that our groups has looked forward to returning year after year for over a decade says it for us.

Soooooo relaxing!
We had a great stay at the farmhouse! We ranged from 7 to 94, and everyone was comfortable! We played lots of ping pong, cards and games at the grand dining room table...such fun! Loved taking walks in the area, checking for eggs, sitting on the front deck and cooking dinner each evening in the kitchen. Great hikes at Icicle Gorge and Lake Wenatchee/Hidden Lake. Fun day in Leavenworth! Many thanks to Julie and Ludger for sharing this wonderful farmhouse of theirs!

Family Time
Had a relaxing 5 days at the farmhouse. Enjoyed the solitude up the canyon, viewing the stars and chatting on the patio at night, playing games, working on a puzzle. Plenty of room and rooms for 10 adults and 3 children under age 2. Centrally located between Leavenworth and Wenatchee. A couple of minor items; the email with the check-in instructions was not sent until 2:30 pm on the check-in date, had to drive back down the canyon into town to get cell coverage to receive the email, the amenities listing states air conditioning which implies central air versus the window air conditioners in all but one bedroom, which was very warm in the evenings.

We had a great time. Very spacious property. Stove was a bit quaint and took some getting used to but it added to the farmhouse charm.

Winter Wonderland Pandemic Inspiration
Our two households came together to help each other through the Covid-19 pandemic, and this huge house — so but that it invited teenagers to revert to hide-and-seek games — gave us an opportunity to truly be under the same roof and forget our troubles. Some of us drove the 45 minutes to the cross-country ski areas at Lake Wenatchee and Plain, some of us admired icicles and sledded down the backyard slopes, some of us found wintertime eggs, and all of us enjoyed the “Versailles-style” bench seating along the copious dining room table: pancakes every morning on the griddle appliance provided, homemade applesauce from the ridiculously inexpensive roadside stands. We used the kicksleds we brought to coast along the Brender Canyon Road, and enjoyed reading the epistolary history of the place and looking at the photo albums of the Szmania’s beautiful renovation.

Extended family weekend
We so enjoyed our time at the farmhouse. It was interesting to read the history of the place and the farm’s setting was beautiful. The living space was plenty big for the 5 couples and little ones in our group and the large farm table accommodated us all for memorable dinners and time together. Having fresh snow to play in was an added bonus.

Fun "island" of a house
The farmhouse is a welcome anomaly in Washington, in that it is from a bygone era. It was fun to experience the older architecture, as well as to read the information about the house's history. The living room is truly wonderful, with a fireplace, generously sized dining table, and two other seating areas. There were games in the cabinets too. The holiday decorations were very cheery, especially with the snow falling outside. The kitchen could definitely use an upgrade. The old stove/oven worked great, but otherwise the condition of the room was not what we had hoped for. The neighborhood is beautiful - you can see the mountains all around - but we still felt that we shouldn't leave the property. There are "no trespassing" signs literally everywhere, and we were told by a grumpy neighbor that we couldn't take a walk on the road past the house. Aside from the immediate neighborhood, the house was very convenient to Leavenworth and Mission Ridge skiing.
