Heron View Cottage welcomes you to a sea-side setting on beautiful Roberts Bay in Sidney. As a designated bird sanctuary, it provides many opportunities to view nature at its best. Numerous other amenities in the area ensure a pleasant and memorable experience.
Important Notice: This property is compliant under the principal resident requirement in the BC Short Term Rental Accommodation Act that came into effect on May 1, 2024.
The recently built cottage offers 1400 sq. ft. of bright, open plan accommodation with scenic ocean and garden views. A spacious loft has a queen sized bedroom with a complete bath and a separate sitting area with stunning ocean and garden views. The main floor offers a modern kitchen, dining room, living room, full bath room and a sun room with garden door leading to the deck and garden. You will also find the second bedroom on the main floor with both ocean and garden views. The lofted ceiling of the cottage, lovely wood work accents, and large windows create a bright and open ambiance which is carried throughout the residence.
Sidney-by-the-Sea is a bustling town with cobble stone sidewalks, artistic statues, summer markets, street cafes', sea side walkways, etc. Other amenities include art galleries, numerous grocery stores, wine stores, pubs, library, great restaurants, book stores, recreational center, ocean water activities, and city amenities 20 minutes away in Victoria. Complete medical services are also readily available.

This is a beautiful cottage with lots of charm. Great location. Sidney is quaint town with lots of things to do.
Very walkable town. The check in was easy, the owner was lovely to visit with. Beautiful garden and outdoor seating areas. Very clean and comfortable.

The accommodation was gorgeous, especially the surrounding gardens, pathways, and patio. The location is convenient to restaurants and shopping. It was very peaceful.
The bedrooms were comfortable and adequately spacious; be aware the drapes are not heavy so the morning light enters the rooms early.
It was nice to have two full baths.
The kitchen is compact but functional. There were limited extras in terms of any food items ( no sugar for instance).
The check-in was restrictive for our personal travel plans as we were up island and wanting to take the Mill Bay ferry which cannot be pre-booked. As a result of having to meet the greeter at a set time, we had to cut short our touring around and despite getting to the ferry early we missed getting onboard. We were car number 20 and 21, and they only take 19. This meant driving the Malahat and getting into Sidney an hour before our check-in time.
The actual owner of the property was very friendly, and helpful and has a devoted green thumb and passion for his home and gardens.

We would highly recommend this property. Beautiful setting, extremely clean and comfortable, with the perfect host!! The coffee pot broke and was replaced within hours. Will definitely choose to stay here again when we come back to Sidney!

The home and surrounding areas were just perfect, quiet and very convenient. We are a senior couple, travelling with my sister. It was lovely having two separate bedrooms with their own bathroom, and lots of seating options.

This property is one of a kind. Very well located with water views and very peaceful. A great spot to get away, relax and recharge. The kitchen is well appointed and we were able to cook our meals with ease. The upper loft area is the perfect place to read and work. We will be returning for a stay in the summer.

Spacious, nicely appointed, very clean and comfortable cottage with a cozy vibe at the end of a quiet lane in the Sydney suburbs, ideal for a peaceful stay for a few days and to use a base for surrounding area attractions. Note limited parking (covered parking for one vehicle only, extra street parking some distance away, not in front of property). Note that this listing is managed by a third party rental company, so expect a certain amount of extra red tape to deal with (extra ironclad rental contract, multiple emails, phone calls etc. ), however the process ran efficiently and the company was responsive to short notice adjustment in check-in arrangements due to inclement winter weather.

Heron Cottage is a wonderful property. Good location near the water; very quiet in residential neighbourhood. Nice rustic decor, comfortable beds, kitchen well equipped. A bit far to walk to grocery store, would recommend a car. Owner lives next door and very pleasant, although rental agency takes care of checking in. The latter is my only complaint. Almost “too professional” : strict rules, lack of flexibility, long rental agreement, too much paperwork. But overall, very pleased with our stay. Pictures on website represent well the actual property, albeit a bit smaller than expected.

It was a lovely stay, kitchen was well equipped. The coffee maker just gave up the ghost on the last day. Beds were good. Parking was street parking but never an issue. We found it a lovely home away from home.

October 2021 Stay
A wonderful and Serene place to stay. Lots of room with lots of windows which keep the place bright even on those dull days that happen so often this time of year.
The owner of the cottage is a very nice and engaging person. The property is spotless and fully modern with a fully kitted out kitchen, an eclectic collection of books and board games and a nice little stereo complete with a few CD's to listen to in the background as you cozy up in the living room to enjoy a book or two.
There is a nice private deck and garden area for when the weather is nice and get a nice view to the bay from there. Beds are very comfortable and that same view to Roberts Bay greets you in the morning when you first open your eyes in the Master bedroom.
Everything about this place will exceed your expections.

The process to rent is simple. I would have prepared contactless check in. The cleaners needs to do a better job cleaning. The cottage will look so much better with a bit less furniture. Its also a good idea to fresheb up the cottage prior to check in. My initial expression wasnt good, the place had a stale smell. The tub on the main floor had a very slow drain
