About this house rental
Perfect for Penn State (21 miles from the Lodge) visits and sporting events and concerts, make your next getaway an unforgettable experience at the Brush Mountain Lodge. Also check out our other brand new property just 10 miles away, the Mount Nittany Lodge (https://www.vrbo.com/2103232). With soaring 30 foot ceilings, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, 900 sq ft of deck space (partially covered), and a mountainside location, this heavy timber frame lodge offers rustic elegance with luxurious amenities, spectacular mountain and valley views, and the peaceful sounds of crackling fireplaces, babbling brooks, and tweeting birds.
Enjoy five king suites, a loft with 2 twin beds, and additional options to sleep up to 26 guests (extra beds can be added to 4 of the bedrooms and the second floor open loft area -- each bedroom can sleep 2, 4, 4, 5, and 5 guests each, the second floor open loft area can sleep 6 -- we set up the extra beds for you with fresh linens and bath towels for all guests). Note that the number of guests you enter in your reservation will determine pricing, as base rates are for up to 12 guests, with additional guests adding $75/guest. Your rental of the Lodge is private and the Lodge will be yours exclusively (no other guests or owners will be in the Lodge during your stay). While the Lodge is a great place to enjoy with friends and family, note that the Lodge is not suited for bachelor party type events where the Lodge can be damaged or there could be noise disruptions to the neighbors with whom we share the mountaintop.
Important -- While the Lodge is located in a remote and wooded mountaintop location on 5 acres, we do have several neighbors with whom we share the mountain. We respect our neighbors, and require that all our guests show this same respect, by keeping outdoor sound to a level that is respectful, especially after dark. Thanks for being a good neighbor :)
You, or your caterer, will enjoy the chef’s kitchen with commercial grade appliances for preparing meals and bringing your group together at the large 14+ seat dining table. Furniture can be rearranged and rented to create the perfect atmosphere for your event. The outdoor deck is large enough for intimate, seated ceremonies and includes a stunning stone wood burning fireplace for use year round with two more fireplaces inside. There is an HD 75" television with Dish Network in the 2nd floor open loft area, and a second television in the 3rd floor king bedroom.
Bring your group together at Brush Mountain Lodge for holiday get-togethers, Penn State events, weddings, anniversaries, corporate retreats, club meetings, and yoga/wellness weekends. In close proximity to Tussey Mountain, Bald Eagle State Park, and Penns Creek, it’s also the perfect place for you and your friends to kick back in front of a roaring fire after chasing the great elusive trout, tearing up epic mountain biking trails, or trail running one of the many nearby trails (Purple Lizard trail maps are provided in the Lodge for you to use).
While the lodge is your own private rental throughout your stay, our staff can be available via text, phone, or email to help you connect with preferred caterers, rental shops, and more. There is a private owner's apartment with private entrance in the lower walkout level of the Lodge that the owner utilizes parts of the year.
The Lodge has high speed internet and wifi for our guests, and Verizon and AT&T smart devices can also access cell phone calling and 4/5G data/email in most areas of the Lodge.
The Lodge has 35+ parking spaces on the premises, with additional parking close by as needed.
We are understanding that sometimes emergencies happen, or travel is not possible. With that in mind, we are happy to work with you to reschedule your stay with a full 100% credit toward a future stay. So if your plans change, please reach out to us asap.

The house is tucked away in an extraordinary setting on Brush Mountain and is an extraordinary space. The exterior features a cascading stream, valley-wide views, and a huge partially covered porch perfect for outdoor remote work or relaxation. The interior has soaring ceilings, wide plank floors, and lovely lighting and other touches throughout. Eric was a great and highly attentive host. I highly recommend it and will look forward to coming back.

We celebrated our mom’s 90th birthday at the lodge! Awesome place to gather the family!

We had a wonderful stay at Brush Mountain Lodge for our wedding weekend. We held all wedding events at the lodge. The space is even more beautiful in person and it was perfect for our group of 12, although it could comfortably accommodate more. We rented the apartment as well and enjoyed use of the hot tub.
We enjoyed the little touches such as the flowers and personalized card, fire places with wood included, the well stocked kitchen, and most everything we could need. Eric was wonderful to work with from start to finish. He was responsive and answered any questions we had prior to and during the weekend. We would recommend this lodge to anyone wanting to celebrate in an intimate way or just relax in a beautiful lodge in the mountains.

We hosted our wedding weekend here and it truly could not have been any more perfect! The lodge team was super communicative and had the space perfectly prepped for our group and our rentals upon arrival. We were able to host a welcome dinner, a wedding ceremony and reception, and a brunch all in one location (which is not easy to find). At our max we had 70 guests in attendance. All of the guests raved about the property, and the lodge served as a perfect “home base” for our family through the festivities! Gave the feel of a destination right in our backyards… thank you brush mountain lodge!

A beautiful, well maintained, and appointed cabin retreat for our much delayed family reunion. It was everything we had hoped for and had a great long weekend there catching up and enjoying the local area. The property owners were very communicative, accommodating, and helpful during the entire process. We couldn't have asked for much more for our stay. Thanks so much.

A bunch of used to work at a restaurant together during our time at Penn State, now with a bunch of kids, it was finally great to get together in Happy Valley. This place was amazing! Perfect for everyone (we had 16 total stay there) and never felt cramped or too spaced out either. Plenty of spots to congregate and for kids to play. House is well taken care of and the communication with property manager was great! Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful weekend at Brush Mountain Lodge. Our hosts were clear and communicative, and everything in the house was thoughtfully prepared for a seamless stay. It’s even more breathtaking than the photos can show! We look forward to future stays, and highly recommend visiting Brush Mountain Lodge.

A group of friends spent a long weekend at Brush Mountain Lodge to celebrate a 40th birthday, and it far exceeded our expectations. The lodge is spectacular - in terms of amenities, layout, cleanliness, view, etc.
Kitchen-- We cooked a few meals in, and the kitchen is one of the best appointed kitchens I've ever seen in a rental. The appliances, cookware, serve ware, etc. provided all that we needed and more. It was also the little things that helped -- spices, foil/cling wrap, extra cleaning supplies, etc. It was so great not to have to bring soaps, toiletries, and the like too.
Bedrooms -- The layout of the house allowed for all couples to feel like they were in their own private space while still allowing for plenty of socializing in the common areas of the house. Pillows and beds - A+! Only complaint (and I hate even using that word) was lack of screen or light blocking option for the high windows in the second floor master. The sun definitely comes right in for that early wake-up!
Outdoor spaces -- We were lucky enough that the March weather was mild enough that we were able to enjoy the fireplace on the side porch one night. Firewood and kindling was stocked for convenience. Ample seating. We also rented the lower apartment for two of the nights of our stay for extra rooms and to have access to the hot tub.
Service - Eric was responsive to all questions, and even provided some hiking suggestions for our group. The fresh flowers upon arrival was a nice touch.
If you're looking for luxury accommodations, this is your spot.

We were lucky to spend Thanksgiving here with extended family from NY to VA to MD and PA; it was the perfect central location. The kitchen is beautifully equipped for meals and cooking. There is plenty of room for people to be together or separate. It was comfortable, cozy and ideal for our family gathering. We'd love to return in the summer to take advantage of the outdoor spaces but we'll settle for another winter visit anytime! Eric (the owner) is very responsive and helped make our visit worry-free.

Brush Mtn Lodge was a very comfortable place for our family to enjoy. Adults each had bedrooms and own baths, perfect sleeping for the 5 kids/teens. Kitchen very equipped. Spacious dining and plenty of seating on the porch/deck.

Amazing Stay
The lodge is beautiful. It was the perfect get away spot for our group of 19 adults & kids. The property is immaculate and well stocked. The views are amazing and there are so many gathering spots in & around the house. Communication with Eric was super smooth. We will certainly be back & highly recommend it

Views on Porches!
We loved our stay. The lodge is exactly as pictured, the views were great, and there were plenty of indoor things to do right at the lodge. We were within reasonable driving distance to other things to do like hiking, Penny’s Cave, and State College. Just know that if you are looking to have outdoor space to play the lodge is on a mountain side property with no real yard space. This wasn’t an issue with a nice playground a short drive down the road into Spring Mills.
Definitely Recommend and already thinking about a return trip in the future!

Family Gathering
Our week at Brush Mountain Lodge was absolutely delightful. The views were spectacular (truly), the beds were so comfortable, and the gathering area was charming!! The kitchen had so many useful items. Plus, we made s’mores in the outdoor fireplace. I strongly recommend the venue. Well done!

Absolutely ASTOUNDING.
If I could rate this establishment 10/5 I would. It offers amazing views, and every amenity under the sun. I highly recommend getting the apartment with the main lodge so that you have access to the fire pit and the hot tub. A true escape from the world that will have you asking why you didn't book sooner.

Amazing house on a mountain top
We are a family with seven children in their twenties along with three significant others. The house with the apartment has six master suites which was like having our own family hotel. There are many different areas in the house which allowed for some individuality and there is a large family room which was spacious enough for twelve adults to congregate. The views are spectacular and the decks are very inviting. There is an ingenious man made babbling brook along side of the house which provides background sound that creates tranquility and makes you feel like one with nature. The hot tub provides relaxation with awesome views of the valley and there are speakers that you can connect to that can provide your favorite background music while in the tub. This house is truly a great place to gather with a large family or families. Eric was very quick to response to any questions that we had and I would highly recommend this house to one and all.

They thought of everything!
Incredibly beautiful setting, gorgeous lodge, well appointed bedrooms and common areas and a well equipped kitchen. The only inconvenience for those who can’t disconnect is a lack of WiFi but I would actually count that as a plus for our group.

This was our second visit in what is fast becoming a tradition. Eric has been wonderful to work with and is an excellent communicator consistently in each rental. The view is outstanding and the comforts, inside and out, are first class. I cannot recommend this enough.

Leadership Retreat
4 of us gathered and created a retreat together: yoga, meditation, meals, walks and conversation. The lodge gave us space, beauty and peace to be together. The time was very meaningful. The local Amish farmers’ produce, dairy and kombucha were the icing on the cake!

Incredible retreat - perfect for family!
The Lodge offered amazing accommodations, beautiful views, and plenty of space for our family (10 adults and 5 kids) to come together for a week of vacation. It is a special place that offers hiking, State Parks, breweries, Amish baked goods and sweet corn, Penn State main campus, and Penns Cave, all nearby. We absolutely loved our stay and everyone voted to do it again! Thanks to our host for sharing this incredible property with us!

For the second year in a row we hosted our annual week long board game meet-up at the lodge and as with last year it was absolutely fantastic! The lodge itself was great as always and Eric and team were wonderful to work with. This year we had some folks do some additional exploring of the area and they also had a blast doing everyting from horseback riding to visiting Penn State Campus and even attending an Art's Fair. I cannot recommend this property highly enough! Thanks for another great week!!!!The Williams Family and the WilliamsCon Crew

A long weekend with my parents, sisters and all of our children, 21 people in all. Plenty of space for everyone, the place is as advertised. Beautiful valley and mountain views, amazing porch/deck with fireplace that everyone gravitated to in the evenings. Lots of activities near by for the kids and adults alike.

Such a great Pennsylvania base
This house is amazing and the pictures don’t do it justice. We used it as a base for my daughters wedding and it was so great to host friends and family coming and going with everything needed to make it fun and relaxing. The house was clean and spotless for us and the view is amazing too. We will miss laughs and drinks on the wrap around deck in the sunshine.
