About this apartment rental
This bright, elegant Georgian (1760's) apartment is your perfect pied-a-terre in Central London. Situated in Handel St. a quiet, tree lined side street just off Brunswick Sq. in the heart of Bloomsbury, the flat is barely five minutes walk from Russell Square tube (Piccadilly line) or the red double decker buses on Woburn Place/Southampton Row. A pleasant ten minute walk though Russell Sq Gardens and you're at the British Museum and UCL Campus or walk North to Euston Rd for the British Library and St Pancras (Eurostar). To the South (two tube stops) or 20 minutes walk, takes you to Covent Garden, Shaftesbury Ave and the West End theatres.
The whole building was completely refurbished in 2005 and this first floor flat (US second floor) is a charming place to return to after a busy day of sight seeing or shopping. Retaining the original marble fireplace and painted wooden shutters, the high ceilings and long Georgian windows give a feeling of space and light whilst modern, quality furniture ensures your comfort. All has been recently painted in cool grey with white woodwork with deep pile fitted carpet throughout.
The queen-size bed has pocket spring mattress and the sofa bed is very comfortable. The arm chairs are of cream leather, the kitchen area is fully equipped and the pull-out dining table can seat four or more if necessary. The bathroom, newly refurbished in 2013 now has a full walk in shower with 'deluge' shower head, heated marble tiled floor, heated towel rail, toilet and basin. The separate utility/laundry room on the landing has a sink, washer and dryer, iron/board and room to store luggage.
The Brunswick Centre, Bloomsburys new High St. is moments away and affords great grocery shopping at gourmet supermarket Waitrose, two Chemists, a Starbucks, plus an interesting Farmers Market on Weds and Sats serving great street food! The arty Curzon Bloomsbury Cinema has been newly rebuilt, now having six screens and couple of bars .
Travel to the flat is excellent with Heathrow barely an hour away, straight through on the Piccadilly line. Also easy to get to Euston, Marylebone and Paddington for trains. The Eurostar train to Paris/Brussels is 10 minutes walk or one tube stop. Liverpool St.(Stanstead) or Victoria (Gatwick) are a short ride away by cab, all of which give this bijou 'home away from home' the advantage of a most central location whilst enjoying a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood setting.
A recent visitor from VA says...'we LOVED the flat. The location was superb, we fell in love with Waitrose and enjoyed walking in the gardens nearby. The light was wonderful and the history of the house fascinating, we had never seen windows with shutters like that! You had thought of everything - the advantage of you the owners living here part of the time is that it is so well equipped and comfortable. We definitely want to come again.

Comfortable flat in great location with kind and responsive hosts. Well-equipped, spotless, quiet, and optimally located. Detailed information, easy access to amenities, and high windows for history lovers. A good experience!

6 Handel Street is absolutely a 5 star property. It’s location in central London along with proximity to the tube and Waitrose means that you can easily get where you are going, that lots of places are close and that whether you are cooking or just want to pick up snacks there’s a market just down the block.
And, the hosts’ willingness to answer questions and generally communicate makes all the difference. Thank you Judith and Antonia! I hope that there will be a future opportunity for us to stay at 6 Handel.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time in London. A couple small issues with cleanliness, but the owners dealt with it professionally and expediently. Would stay here again.

Our London flat was perfect for our visit. Fantastic location near several Underground stations. Grocery store right around the corner with multiple nearby restaurants. The flat gave us room to spread out and cook some of our own meals. It was exactly what I was looking for in the way of accommodations. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Ideal location on a street that was central, but quiet. Our host was solicitous, with sincerely concern for our comfort throughout our stay. The flat was well-equipped and spotless. Altogether optimal!

Very detailed information at the flat about the area and easy to follow instructions for all the appliances, etc. Despite being in Bloomsbury and the proximity to busy shopping and restaurants, the flat was quiet, no outside noise. High windows were particularly gratifying and some of the history of the house. Judith, Edwin and Antonia have made good use of space, so lots of storage. A good experience!

A very comfortable flat, in an excellent location. Very close to buses and trains, supermarket, shops, pubs and restaurants. Enjoyed the stay very much.

This flat checked all the boxes. Easy walking distance to many sites, several Underground and Rail stations, many restaurants and very close to a larger grocery store. Definitely worth considering.

I enjoyed a week at the flat in April. It was so quiet that I wondered if there was anyone else in the building with us! The beds were great and comfy (including the pullout). Owner communication was stellar. I absolutely cannot wait to return.

The location of this flat is excellent. Few minutes walk to Kings Cross/St. Pancras and
Russell Square tube stations. Brunswick centre (Waitrose; Superdrug small eateries) opposite flat. London is renowned for pubs and gardens which are in abundance and at your doorstep.
Judith and Antonia are lovely hosts, promptly replying to any queries or concerns. The flat is fully equipped with every amenity required.
Understanding this is a rental property which houses many guests, the flat is well kept and clean… some aspects a bit tired.
I would recommend this flat, and hope to return again.

Great location, nice, quiet property, but could have been cleaner. I have not ever complained about cleanliness before with a rental, but it was obviously a bit unclean. We arrived late on the train after a long flight with baggage and were not thrilled to learn only the day before that we would first have to locate the convenience store where the keys were kept before then dragging the bags on the unfamiliar cobblestone backstreets several blocks away to the flat. This would be no big deal if you know the area and don't have jet lag. The bed was fine but the sofa bed was very uncomfortable so my adult daughter slept on the floor. So, all in all, if you want this great location, this is a nice flat for 2, that is if the owner, who was very responsive to questions we asked on WhatsApp, hires a professional cleaner and the guests sleep only on the bed in the bedroom.

Cozy, convenient, and quiet with very comfortable seating, well-equipped kitchen and bath, and friendly and helpful management. Easy access to the West End, with the tube a block away, as well as to and from Heathrow on the Piccadilly Line and Gatwick (from St. Pancras using Thameslink).
Residential and student area. Several good neighborhood restaurants (Nono and Casa Tua) within walking distance.

Amenities and location were perfect for our week long stay in London. Everything was an easy walk and tube station was 5 minutes away if needed. Recommend and will look to stay again next time we are in London.

This is a cozy, well equipped apartment on a quiet green street. Terrific neighborhood. Subway and supermarket nearby, beautiful parks all around. Couldn’t have been better.

Lovely apartment, excellent location
This was a great place to stay. The owner was very friendly and helpful, check-in was smooth and the apartment was very attractively furnished and had everything one would need. Plus the location is excellent. The only down side is that there is repair work being done on the outside of the building, but hopefully that will be completed soon.

Lovely service, great-size flat, a couple of issues
The service overall was impeccable and the flat itself was even a bit larger than I expected, in a wonderful, convenient location. It was clear that the owners took the time and effort to take care of everything which is obvious by the guides and the fact that the flat came stocked with everything you could ever need.
However, there were unfortunately a couple of rather significant issues: the soundproofing of the flat was a bit lacking so the upstairs neighbors walking around in the middle of the night woke me up every single night, there was construction going on on the building itself which took me by surprise, and finally, the sheets and the towels reeked of the cleaning fluid. When I tried to use the washer myself, which, incidentally, was located on a different floor, I found that the clothes I washed smelled bad afterwards as well.
It is also notable that there is a bit of a trip to make to get to the flat and there is no lift to get to it, which was a bit of a pain as I was travelling alone with 5 large bags.
Overall, it was a decent enough experience and I wish that I had fewer negative things to say as the hosts really were very friendly and welcoming!

A Lovely Stay I London Town
Our stay st 6 Handel St was great! We’ve rented many apartments throughout Europe but have never stayed in a home where just about every need from rubber bands to sharp knives was at our fingertips! The apt is well organized and well located. Thanks Antonia and Judith! Hope for another stay someday!

We never fail to enjoy our London stays when based in this comfortable and well-located flat. There is no need to repeat the other reviews which say it all.

This is the second time we have stayed in this flat and it was just as good as last time. We spent a month here and it was a perfect location – Waitrose supermarket is nearby as are Russell Square and Kings Cross / St Pancras stations. Recommended restaurants within easy walking distance are Casa Tua, Ciao Bella and North Sea Fish. There are fun squares and gardens close by (we even saw two foxes in Bedford Square Gardens!). The flat itself is comfortable, clean and well equipped. Communications were prompt and clear. We plan to stay here again next time we are in London.

A charming flat in a great location
A lovely flat - bright, well equipped, very comfortable and quiet in the best location in London. Russell Square tube station is just a few minutes away. The communication with owners was superb - they were very friendly, helpful and responsive.

Very nice Bloomsbury flat.
Centrally located. Many sites are 2-5 tube stops away. Comfortable and relaxing. Could sleep with windows open. Kitchen is small but very intelligently laid out. Good reference book indicating local items of interest, transportation, restaurants and necessities. Would stay again. One quibble. For the money charged a working TV showed be a given. With Trump in town, we would have liked the TV to have been working to see how British TV would’ve covered him.

Small but beautiful
This is our second stay in this lovely little flat so we knew what to expect. It has everything you could possibly need. We especially appreciate the comfortable chairs and reading lights. The bed is excellent and we sleep like babies while we’re there. I love Bloomsbury and this flat is perfectly situated: 2 minutes from Waitrose, best supermarket ever, and close to Kings Cross which is a major transport hub. Although Russell Square is the closest tube station, we use Kings Cross when we first arrive: Straight up the Picadilly Line from Heathrow, and all escalators and elevators to street level so no steps. You can easily walk to the west end, the city, the south bank, and you have the British Museum and the British Library on your doorstep. And I’m still discovering little known gems in the area.

Like Home
We (seniors) stayed in the Judith’s flat for 16 days in April 2019.
The flat was fully equipped, comfortable, and in a great location; close
to tube, train, bus connections. Shopping at Waitrose Supermarket was
great fun and a money saver. Our favorite restaurants were: Ciao Bella
(reservations recommended), Banh mi Bhay (Theobalds Rd.), Pizza Sophia’s
(Tavistock) and the Indian YMCA (30 min. walk).

Great location
The location is great - easy walking distance to subway, British museum and British library. Good new shopping plaza next door with coffee shops and plenty of food choices. feels somewhat outside of the main touristy area - better choices and reasonable prices. Starbucks is also on the plaza, but the patisserie there is better. The building is old, high ceilings, the flat is relatively small, but enough room for 2-3 people. The pull out couch bed is good, but takes almost the whole living room area when open. The kitchen is well supplied, the flat was cleaned well. The washing machine is in a different area, but close. The owners were very attentive - problems resolved quickly. Overall very nice stay, thank you.

An excellent flat in a superb location
I have stayed in this flat before and really enjoyed it. So coming back this time was like coming home. The furnishings are tasteful and the flat is well equipped. The chairs in the lounge unbelievably comfortable and the bathroom is modern and easy to use - love the rain head in the shower. The bedroom is quiet and again furnished well. One of the best things about the flat is its location - literally 2 minutes from the Brunswick Centre where you can buy almost anything and have good cafes and restaurants and a great cinema! The flat is also a short walk to the British Library and the British Museum, two of my favourite places, as well as three train stations and numerous underground stops. I highly recommend this flat.

Best in Bloomsbury
We love this flat. Wish it was ours! But being able to stay there is the next best thing. It is perfect for two people and is ideally located for the British Museum and Library and is very convenient to Russell Square Tube and buses to the National Theatre and West End. The flat is comfortable, short walk from Waitrose, an excellent super market and Brunswick Square which has restaurants and shops including drug stores and phone store. We've stayed in this flat before and in other Bloomsbury flats (we know the area very well), and this is the best VRBO flat in the area by actual comparative test. Don't look any further. Book this one. Just not when we want to be there.
Antonia is super helpful and sets the flat up beautifully for each new arrival.

Very cozy well equipped flat in an excellent location.
We love the Bloomsbury area. It’s central and the transport is excellent. This is the 3rd flat we’ve tried, and the only one to which we would definitely return. It’s smaller than the previous 2 we’ve stayed at, but a lot of thought has gone into it, and it has everything you could need. What I particularly appreciated were the 2 very comfortable chairs in the lounge area, and excellent lighting throughout the flat. A 3 minute walk away is the wonderful Waitrose supermarket. There’s also a cinema in the same complex. If you’re arriving at Heathrow, you just come straight up the Piccadilly line and King’s Cross has lift access to street level. Definitely recommend this flat.

Clean, comfortable, great neighborhood
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The apartment had everything we needed, was set up comfortably, and was a lovely environment. We especially loved the neighborhood. It was quaint, quiet, non-touristy, and so convenient to the underground station, to shopping and restaurants, and any services we could possibly need. Judith and Antonia were so nice to work with and were very patient with us as we ran into some self-induced snags right at the beginning. We would definitely stay here again.

Good for family
Location, location, location!!! We are very blessed to find this place. It's super close to Russell square tube station, Euston, King's Cross, and St Pan. All within walking distance!!! There's a huge supermarket only 1-2 mins WALK.
We travelled with a child, so having an equppied kitchen and being close to a supermarket are very important.
The pullout sofa bed was very comfortable for two ppl.
The apartment is very clean.
We will for sure to come back if we visit London again.

We'll be back
This was our 3rd stay at the Handel Street flat and it was as delightful and comfortable as the others - and even a little longer. The flat has everything you need, including a Waitrose grocery store one block away. The bed is comfortable, the bath as modern as you can get, and the kitchen, although small, has everything you need for a simple meal (that's all I prepared) and probably for a more complicated one. The sitting area is spacious and has two comfortable chairs and a sofa. And a real treat is heading for your shower and discovering the heated bathroom floor and towel rack. And finally, the location just can't be beat - in the heart of London on a quiet residential street.
Judith, the owner, and her property manager and daughter, Antonia, are always available in case of a problem. We arranged our trip this year to be able to stay at Handel Street and next trip, we'll plan to stay there as well.
