About this house rental

This magnificent and spacious home has 6 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. The unique setting of this home is at the confluence of two streams and surrounded by pristine natural beauty to stir your heart. Like a painting come to life with romantic rock bridges, quaint stone steps and walls, lush pastures, fruit trees, flowers and jade-green ponds; this is a dream come true! This enchanting home is located at the gateway into the vast National Forest. This 150 Acre ranch is surrounded on three sides by U.S. Forest land; 2 1/2 Million Acres extending to Montana and Canada! There are deer, elk, moose, bear, wolves, bald eagles, wild turkeys, and ermine on or visiting this ranch; and we have maintained the property as a wildlife preserve. There are no visible neighbors and this is a place of serenity, peace and complete quiet except for nature!

The two streams are Marie Creek, which has high water in the Spring and early summer, along with several large pools of water and log waterfalls into mid-July. By early to mid-August, Marie Creek goes underground by the ranch. It continues to run above the ranch in the National Forest. Searchlight Creek runs the north-south length of the ranch and in front of the house. Searchlight Creek runs year round and is a perfect creek for children to play in the creek and the pools.

Home is 4,000 S.F with 6 Bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, 2 Stone Fireplaces and a great Western Decor!

Elk Mountain Ranch was homesteaded in 1908 and the Deed is signed by President Theodore Roosevelt, on display at ranch. The center of the current house was built in 1930, and retains much of the charm of that time period. The later additions are very western and rustic.

This family ranch was offered as a Vacation Rental beginning May 1, 2014 for the first time. The furnishings and décor are that of a high quality, Western motif reflective of the love we have for this beautiful ranch.

The ranch is 150 acres with access into the National Forest. You can pan for gold in the creek! We now have a fire pit and provide firewood for your use! You can bring your Mountain Bikes, ATV's, Snowmobiles or Cross Country Skis and stay for a fun-filled vacation summer or winter! We do provide sleds for our awesome sledding hill and snowshoes to use on the ranch or into the adjacent National Forest land. We now have 2 full size Tipis, beautifully hand painted with native designs which are great for photos, overnight sleeping, for children to play inside or for quiet meditation.

Elk Mountain Ranch is also a private trout hatchery comprised of three separate spring-fed ponds where they are raised from fingerlings to full size adult trout which in turn, spawn, and continue the cycle. We provide trout food for our guests for which the trout which put on a spectacular show! We allow absolutely no fishing on the ranch and breaking this rule will forfeit one's damage deposit. Only the bald eagles and osprey fish unhindered; and we want our guests to enjoy all this majesty of nature.

Nine family members stayed here and had a wonderful time. Everything we needed was there from a fully stocked kitchen, pantry, lots of supplies, toys and games, plenty of towels, blankets, etc. We enjoyed feeding the trout, eating pancakes from batter provided, and visiting the area. Cell phone connection was iffy but the remoteness was so nice. Great communication from owners and good instructions.

Pictures don't do this place justice. If you are looking for a private, relaxing, beyond beautiful and peaceful place to gather, this is the place. My 91 year young mother, my siblings, spouses and a 13 year old niece had a lovely time exploring the property, hiking, feeding the fish, gathering in the kitchen to prepare meals which we enjoyed around the large dining table, relaxing in the great room to read or visit and we gathered around the fire pit every night. We enjoyed a fire in the great room as well. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, bakeware, pots and pans. The owners are more than generous with pantry supplies. There was an abundance of Bath towels, washcloths, kitchen towels and dishrags for both bathroom and kitchen. Everybody had their own private space in the bedrooms. The home is charming, roomy and clean. The owners, Susan and Mike are delightful to deal with. They were there to give us a tour when we arrived and were very responsive from the time I made the reservation till we left. We explored the beautiful area around Coeur d Alene, but our favorite place to be was on this property. If I come back to this area again with a group, I will rent this home.

The owners of this property could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They even leave a stocked pantry. The outside is the best we had many great adventures feeding fish, walking and have bond fires.

Elk mountain ranch is our favorite vacation rental. So many things to do for all ages. Lots of hiking, feeding the pet trout, puzzles for all ages, games, videos and a fire pit to gather in the afternoon or evening. The kitchen is stocked with anything needed and more. We will be back!
