COPAKE LAKEHOUSE - NOW OFFERING 3 DAY RENTALS THIS SUMMER. DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE FOR WEEKLY RENTALS
A unique, magical, two dwelling property on Copake Lake with waterfront access, outstanding views of the lake, mountains, and sunsets.
The Main house is a 1950’s cottage that was lovingly and professionally renovated a few years ago. Decorated in an elegant, modern, and idiosyncratic country style. New mechanicals throughout, yet all the charm of the original cottage. The cottage is comprised of three main spaces … a master bedroom with a full private bathroom, a kitchen/dining area which opens onto the light-filled living room facing the lake, and a bunkroom with two pairs of built in bunkbeds. A second bathroom is off of the living room and there is a loft space above with great light and views to the lake. Three pairs of French doors open up the West wall of the living room to a large wood deck, with wrap-around seating, overlooking the lake
The Guest house was built in the early ’80’s and is built into the lakefront bluff which lends it a treehouse like quality. It has recently been converted to have a full floor guest bedroom with a full, private bathroom as well as a laundry room the floor below. The bedroom is a self-sufficient, light-filled room with a dresser, closet, coffee niche, under-counter refrigerator, electric kettle, plates, utensils, cutting board, and glassware. In the warmer months there is also a French cafe’ table and two chairs for the deck in front of the French doors. Perfect for the in-laws, newlyweds, late sleepers, introverts, or reclusive writers. It’s a vacation within a vacation when you sleep in the guest house.
Combined, the property has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and can sleep up to a maximum of 8 adults, in beds, comfortably. (please see rates for applicable fees)
The house is only a short 20-minute drive in either direction to two of the most charming towns in the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires. The town of Hudson, to the West, has many antique shops, restaurants, and bars and is situated right along the Hudson River. Great Barrington, to the East, is just over the Massachusetts border, is great for families ... there is a movie theater, two toy stores, and one of the largest candy stores around. Fine and casual dining is possible in both towns and along the roads between here and there.
The perfect four season vacation home ... always a way to relax or find adventure all year long.
Spring/Summer – Swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing in the clean and clear freshwater lake. The lake’s health is carefully monitored and maintained by the Copake Lake Conservation Society. Contact Copake Lake Boat and Ski for rates and availability of pontoon boats, water skiing, or wake boarding.
Autumn – Possibly the most beautiful time of year with colorful foliage and moderate temperatures … perfect for hiking at Bash Bish Falls and biking for miles on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail. Bike rentals are available at Bash Bish Bicycle.
Winter - Ice skating on the lake, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice-fishing are all possible right on Copake Lake when it freezes over around the beginning of January each winter. Skiing, snowboarding, and tubing are 15-30 minutes away, respectively, at nearby Catamount Ski Area or Ski Butternut
Aside from all the sports and outdoor activities there are many ways to do nothing at all and simply enjoy relaxing in nature or a cozy spot inside. There is a hammock, Adirondack chairs, a built in 14' slide for kids (and adults), picnic table and benches, canvas folding chairs, a swim platform, upper decks, lower decks, and a dock all situated with spectacular views of the water and as much shade or sun as you like.
For those of you that love outdoor cooking there is a Weber gas grill and a Weber kettle charcoal grill, as well as a smoker for making some real, low and slow smokey barbecue.
Whether it's a weekend getaway for the family, just the two of you, a small family reunion, or a group of friends on a ski or hiking trip ... you'll have the most memorable time here.
3-night minimum for all holiday weekends, including Thanksgiving 2021. 7-night minimum during the Dec holiday season. 7-night minimum Memorial day through Labor day each summer (Currently accepting 3-day rentals for July/Aug 2023).

This was our second time at Vincent & Natasha's beautiful cabin perched right on the lake. The house is well stocked (and well organized!) with everything you need, and the setting is just magical. Hope to return next summer!

We had the most amazing stay. The house is well equipped for young children and really felt like we were in a friends home not a rental. How communication was A+, thank you!

This area and home are beautiful!!!

Great stay in such a gorgeous house on the lake! The area is beautiful and the house itself had EVERYTHING we needed to cook meals and make drinks. I highly recommend staying here! House also has AC which owners were very helpful with (it took us a moment to realize the remote slides open but that’s on us). We went to copake winery and feast and floret for dinner- both of which were fantastic. Would come again!

Everything was absolutely perfect. The communication with Vincent was easy, timely, informative, helpful!
The house is the perfect lake getaway. Every detail was thoughtfully curated- nothing was missed. From the decor to the design, and everything in between- brilliant. A specific shoutout to the bunk/kids room. My kids entertained themselves for hours (without screens- tablets or television). The book collection for the kids was especially impressive- positively perfect!
We will definitely return in the summer months to enjoy the lake!!

Another lovely stay in this cozy cabin - perfect place for our group to wind down and recharge, with long winter walks, making meals together, reading books, playing games and exploring this scenic area. We’ll be back for sure!

Incredible property. Very private, cozy and charming. Best sunset you can see from the lake right from the property. Felt like we were truly remote.

We stayed at the Copake Lake house for a weekend with a group of girlfriends and had the best time. The kitchen was well-stocked, beds are very comfortable, and everyone was really happy with our stay at this property. Vincent was very helpful and responsive. Highly recommend!

This lakefront property is special in ways too many to describe here, other than to say that the pictures barely do it justice. Above all is its relationship with the lake. Inside the two dwellings, your in a tree house with lovely unobstructed lake views. On the many docks, you are at one with the water and sky. It's both surreal and mesmerizing to experiences the many changes in the way the light plays off of the sky and water.

Staying at this property was so inspiring and refreshing. We went up to celebrate our 35th birthday and had the perfect fall weekend. The colors reflecting over the lake was so beautiful. We took the kayaks out and even did a cold water plunge! Vincent was incredibly responsive leading up to our stay and the house had everything we needed to enjoy a quiet weekend. The home itself encourages you to slow down, relax and connect. I can't wait to come back!

This house was absolutely perfect for our family. We had multiple adults and babies with us and everyone enjoyed their time. There are a lot of toys for kids and comfortable sleeping arrangements for all. The kids room included great quality baby and childrens items. This house truly had everything! We really enjoyed all of the watersports and s'mores in the evening. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home with us!

A pitch-perfect getaway. The owners have though of everything. Just bring a toothbrush! The two dwellings have a cool, shabby-chic vibe and are really comfortable. The lake is beautiful and clean and perfect for swimming and canoeing. Sunsets are like a postcard.

We had a fantastic time at this property, it’s an easy weekend trip from NYC and Boston and a superb location. The house was really well equipped and the owners were very communicative. We went with our 8 month old, the house had everything you would need for them! We had a lovely time and will definitely be back!

Had a wonderful time at this Copake Lake home. The property was very well appointed with very nice design choices. The location of the property was primo right on Copake Lake with extensive decking outside of the house and along the lake with a lot of trees to provide nice shade. Kids (15 and 18) had a blast using the paddle boards, kayaks and the floating island about 15 yards off the deck on the lake. The property faces northwest and we had incredible sunsets every night stretching across the lake. Our kids stayed in the main house and my wife and I stayed in the beautiful converted garage (into a nice one bedroom one bathroom). In between the two structures was a great fire pit that we took full advantage of. Only a couple hours from NYC we found the experience quite transporting and the outdoor grills/kitchen made for great meals while we were there. Clearly the owners have some very good taste with the appointments and the layout of the place. The best thing about the place though is it’s unique location right on the lake with again fabulous sunsets. We will definitely return and highly recommend.

Being able to get away at such a quiet, pristine location was really nice. Bathrooms, though not shown in listing, were a pleasant surprised and added to the overall retreat feeling. Well appointed home, perfect for a mini retreat.

We had a wonderful stay in the height of fall weather! I highly recommend a November stay - gorgeous foliage and the property was sparkling every morning with the fall leaves and lake. The house is so cozy and comfortable and stocked with everything you need! We traveled with a 1 year old and it was truly a perfect place - toys, a high chair, a safe kids room, blackout curtains. All of this combined with a stylish place for parents, extremely comfortable bed, incredible shower and the best was outdoor fire pit! The hosts were extremely communicative and gave us everything we needdd to have a great stay. Already thinking about booking our next stay….!

We had a magical stay at this beautiful, serene home. The hosts provided excellent, clear information about the property and neighborhood. As well as being beautifully decorated, the house is wonderfully equipped for children. We would love to return!

We had a great stay at the lake house. The house was very charmingly decorated, light-filled, and tidy. It is well stocked with extra amenities such as games and books in the living room, and condiments in the kitchen. This gives it a very homey feeling. The dock is a special feature- easy water access and boating equipment: three kayaks, a great wooden canoe, plenty of life preservers and a swimming float. The house was a short distance from a number of cute towns and parks with hiking trails. Copake Lake does allow motor boats and water skiing- don't expect wilderness. We had a fantastic time!

The Copake Lake property was a cozy and relaxing experience. The beautiful lake front setting brought a sense of calmness and peace during our stay. It's beautifully decorated and the kitchen was full stocked to my amazement. The layout provides enough ample space to gather and as well as to carve out your own personal space.
The deck is fantastic for BBQ's and the kayaks/paddleboards were a definite perk for my teenage daughters.
The hosts, Natasha and Vincent, were very amazing and made the rental experience a pleasant one.
We're Looking forward to our next stay!!!

We loved our two-week stay at the Copake Lake House. Both the main house and the guest house were beautiful and extremely well equipped. Great kitchen, fully stocked with cooking staples. Ample selection of books and games for adults and children. Air conditioning was great (and quiet) on the couple of occasions when the ceiling fans weren’t enough. We loved the hammock and the fire pit (s’mores!).
Right on the lake, with lake views from every room and many outdoor seating and dining areas, both attached to the houses and down by the water. We made full use of the kayaks, canoe, and paddleboards. Saw eagles catching fish on several occasions. Beautiful sunsets.
Great hiking locations nearby. Lots of interesting stores in Hudson and Great Barrington (though COVID kept us out of them this year), each a 25 minute drive away. Easy grocery shopping in those cities, and in several much closer stores, as well as a farm stand just a few feet down the road on weekends.
Natasha and Vince were excellent hosts, very easy to deal with.
Two minor things guests should be aware of (both of which we knew about before our stay): The lake is very popular with motorboat owners, so don’t expect a wilderness experience. But the boats always kept a safe distance from us when we were swimming and kayaking, and things quieted down in the evening. And as the rental agreement noted, the WIFI service is provided as “a courtesy” and is not guaranteed. We found it pretty good in the living room and kitchen, but spotty in the bedrooms and in the guest house.

My sister and I looked forward to our reunion here for months, and boy did it deliver. We loved being able to spread out between two cottages, the epic dock, the dreamy outdoor space, the fabulous kitchen, and the general coziness. My 6-month old nephew was delighted with the black-out shades, the bouncer, and the Pack 'n Play. Absolutely everything was perfect. We fantasized about spending a month—such a great location with access to both the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires. Thank you, Natasha and Vince, for being such generous, thoughtful hosts. We loved every minute of our week here.

Our group of 8 really enjoyed our time here. The guest cottage was perfect for my college aged kids. The lake was so fun. My son and his friend fished often and we caught quite a few fish right from the dock. The Kayaks, canoes and standing boards were really fun. The house is lovely and well decorated and the owners put great care into the experience. They gave us a ton of good information about the house and the area prior to our arrival.

Natasha and Vincent's cabin is just magical. The pictures couldn't possibly do justice to the setting. The view from the deck is spectacular, and it's even more breathtaking once you go down to the lake. A wonderful place to relax at the end of a day and watch the sunset with the sounds of the water lapping against the dock. Our kids spent hours swimming and paddle boarding in the lake. The water was clean and gorgeous. A restorative vacation. Thank you!!!

I've been eyeing this property for years and finally took the plunge with my husband, 3yo daughter and another couple and we had the best time. Our friends stayed in the separate cabin while our family took the main house. It was the perfect amount of space for this group (and more room for another kid or two if they all share the bunk bed room). The house was well equipped for all kid related items so we didn't need to bring much from home. My daughter especially loved all the book options! The view and proximity of the lake from this house can't be beat. Beautiful views with just the right amount of trees to give you privacy. We ate dinner on the deck and drank wine by the fire pit every night. Kayaks, SUP boards and a canoe are all provided to enjoy the lake. They even have a cute island you can swim or boat to and hang out and/or watch a completely unobstructed sunset. The owners provide great advice for activities and food in the area. We also rented a pontoon for the day based on their suggestion - a must do!
One thing to note is that the parking spot is super tight. I would worry if you bring more than two cars for this rental.
Otherwise, a lovely time and break from city life!

We live in a lakehouse and thought it might be redundant to stay at another lakehouse, ha ha, but we really loved it here! The decor is very lake-y and cool and you can catch amazing sunsets. Our son loved the playroom. The nearby shops and towns were fun to explore. I would highly recommend Natasha's place!

We had a wonderful stay at the lake house including canoeing, drinks by the fire, and plenty of darts and board games. The hosts specifically purchased a copy of the Splendor game for use during our stay which was greatly appreciated. Our son also loved the toys and the bunk beds were so cozy. Thank you so much!

This property is wonderful and the home is extremely well stocked with anything that you may ever need, beyond being well appointed in all details. The deck and fire pit only added to our stay and the location is very close to both Great Barrington and Hudson.

As soon as we walked into this house, we felt like we were walking into a magazine spread. It doesn't surprise me that its sophisticated designs were featured in Country Living and The Wall Street Journal. But beyond the rustic chic decor, which will satisfy any art and style lover, there are incredible views of the lake out every single window. My husband and our two kids (10 and 5 years old) went on a chilly fall weekend, but there was still plenty to do: fire pits, reading by the French doors, pulling games from the owner's endless supply, cooking in their well-equipped kitchen, hiking in the hemlock forest, climbing a trail to a stunning waterfall. I couldn't recommend this house more!

My family stayed for a week and loved every moment in this well appointed tree top oasis. The cottage and guesthouse were in perfect condition with more amenities to count. We enjoyed the water sports, the nearby golf, restaurants and shops in addition to simply hanging out playing board games and roasting marshmallows by the fire. The owners were communicative, responsive and generous. We will definitely be returning!
10.0 / 10.0
Simply stunning. This property is done correctly in every way. From the chef-grade kitchen appliances to the cozy interiors, everything is amazing. The sunsets off the dock or the top deck were gorgeous every night.
The location is just 30 minutes or less to the Berkshires and is very private. There are local farmer's markets nearby along with great restaurants. Bash Bish Falls Trail is only a few minutes away and Racebrook Falls Trail up to the Appalachian Trail is also close for a more strenuous hike.
Vincent is great to work with and very quick to respond. I've stayed at many HomeAway and VRBO properties over the years and this is one of the best ever. I'd give it six stars if I could.
Thanks Vince! I have a sneaking suspicion we will be back!

This is the first review that I have ever written , and, in fact, the first property that I have ever rented. I am so overwhelmed by how perfect this property is that I feel compelled to take the time to write. When my teenage children and I travel , we usually stay in great five star hotels, with perfect amenities, views, locations and all. We could not have been more thrilled in this home. It was perfection, even to my hard to please teenagers and their friends, who gushed after the first night that the beds were the most comfortable that they had ever slept in. But that is the least if it; the perfectly stocked kitchen, the beautifully appointed bathrooms, the wonderfully plush bath towels ( and even beach towels) , and more, made it all simply wonderful. It is clear that a tremendous amount of care and love has gone into this home. "Awesome", "amazing" "#lit", were the common refrains from my teenagers during our stay. We can't wait to go back; my only regret is that it seems to be booked for the rest of the summer!!
10.0 / 10.0
What an amazing little retreat! The perfect sanctuary from mad city life. An amazing view and setting, A chefs kitchen that was the perfect antidote to a life of eating out, the coziest living room that makes you not care if its raining, and an amazing bed.....all put together with the best lux modern cabin style. I will definitely be back. My fiance is looking over my shoulder as I write this agreeing. GO!
