Experience the Pacific Northwest - Island Style while staying in our lovely vacation home overlooking the Ocean to Vancouver Island B.C. Located on the west side of San Juan Island, this beautiful, privately located, romantic ocean view home was custom built with attention to the creative details. Relax every evening in your hot tub enjoying world class sunsets. 1,200 sf custom designed cedar sided cozy bungalow with a very efficient wood stove to enjoy when ambiance and warmth are the inspiration. Propane forced-air heat provided throughout home. Relax in our toasty outdoor hot tub and enjoy world famous sunsets on the Westside of San Juan Island. Our Home includes 1 Master Bedroom with King bed, 1 Master Bath, Gourmet Kitchen, Dining, Lovely Living Room with memory mattress trundle bed that can be 2 twins. Separate alcove with twin cot. Wood stove heats the whole house or furnace heating. Separate laundry room. The Master Bedroom is located on the second floor and includes a King size bed built on a pedestal to provide an ocean view. You can stargaze through your above bed skylight. The Bath includes a large walk-in tiled shower. The Home has wireless internet access and DISH satellite TV service & DVD Player and stereo player. 56' HD tv in living room. Best of all is whale watching as this stretch of shoreline has been identified by a whale museum biologist as a feeding area for Orcas. Watch whales pass by from the deck as their PODS come within a few yards of shore, hunting salmon. Use the provided binoculars to see every detail. There is plenty to do in the neighborhood with beach access at Snug Harbor Resort. Bird watching is superb, with resident Harlequin ducks and a nearby active Bald eagle's nest. Watch fox, otter, and deer close by, or pack your favorite beverages, a great book, and a picnic basket, and relax at one of the many close County, State, National and Historic parks. We really loved staying here. The home is cozy and well-appointed with everything you might need. It really feels like you're staying in a home, with all the comforts. The view over the water is gorgeous. I really enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the early morning, wrapped up in a blanket and drinking coffee. The forest sounds were very soothing. I loved the peaceful setting.
The logistics of our stay were very smooth and communication before our arrival was perfect. The home was clean and stocked up. It was easy to find and a quick drive from everything (ferry, Friday harbor, Roche harbor, etc.), but the neighborhood itself is very quiet.
The one thing to know is the bed in the upstairs is on a platform that raises the bed's surface up to about 3.5 feet off the ground. You can see it in the photos. The bed itself was very comfy. But if you have mobility issues or concerns about heights, you might not feel comfortable. We knew what to expect, but I could see how it might not be great if climbing up a step stool is difficult for you.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this home to anyone wanting to explore San Juan.

My girlfriend and I (plus our dogs) stayed the weekend at the cabin, mainly as a base of operations for hiking and exploring. The cabin is close to the main house, but not so close that it compromises privacy. The cabin is clean, well kept and fully furnished and has an excellent view of the waterline to the west.
We liked that we had the option to clean up ourselves and retain the security deposit, especially since we mainly just slept and showered there.
Some things to note for other renters: there is a long wooden staircase leading down to the property, so keep that in mind if you're not able bodied. Also, the master bed upstairs is 4ft off the ground and has two step stools to access.... if you roll out of bed a lot, well... consider sleeping downstairs on the hide-a-bed. Oh, and there is a skylight directly over the master bed which might be obnoxious in the long light of summer. We didn't mind any of the above, but its worth mentioning to those who might.
All in all, great stay, great host and great property!

The Palmer's are amazing, onsite hosts wth a dream-worthy cabin on the Haro Strait. We came for Thanksgiving with the kids and had an absolutely fantastic time. Cannot say enough good things about this place including THE AMAZING elevated bed and wood burning stove. So grateful for all of the little, thoughtful touches too. We will be back!

We had a lovely time. The house was so cozy and the views amazing. We also brought our dog and loved the nice touches of provided dog bowls. They are not kidding that the master bedroom bed is high. It is at least 4 ft high, but it provides great views. The skylight also allows fabulous viewing of the stars at night. We will definitely be back. One packing note, the house has jute rugs in the kitchen which are nice, but are not super comfy on feet when cooking. We don't wear shoes inside, and the owner requests you don't as well. We wished had bought some slippers or flip flops for inside. Not a big deal but just a packing tip.

Our stay was short with everything from our expectations set through online listing all through the check out process exceeded our expectations. Loved being able to bring our dog! The space is delightful and fully stocked with all we needed. There's so much to do in the area and the online photos while stunning, are no comparison to in person views. As a personal preference, I would have preferred a standard height bed vs. the platform bed that requires a step stool, but it did not dampen our enthusiasm for this restful stay. It's so quiet, we saw deer each morning and eagles. The bird activity on the front deck is charming to watch. Highly recommend!

We thoroughly enjoyed this island retreat. A lovely vase of fresh flowers greeted us on the dining room table. Beautiful views, welcoming decks to enjoy the scenery. Owner promptly answered our questions. Thoughtful touches provided throughout—dog towels, treats, poop bags, easy-to-clean surfaces, convenient washer/dryer, cleaning supplies. Nearby parks and beaches for dog walks, whale watching, stunning sunsets. Our only regret was we didn’t stay a week or more.

Nice views to the west, even from the hot tub! Comfortable, welcoming space and plenty of room for 2 of us and our dog. Kitchen well stocked with dishes and cooking needs. We only had a short weekend stay, but enjoyed the hot tub and living space in what little time we had between exploring the island and visiting friends. The bed was firm and really comfortable. Karen was great with communication and responding to questions before we arrived. Did not need to contact her with any issues during our stay. We would definitely stay here again! If you have mobility issues, know that the bed is very high (for the views I imagine) and is accessed with a small 2-step stool, and the parking is up above with a path of stairs down to the house.

Great Birthday Getaway, great location, beautiful accommodation , makes you feel right at home. The view is amazing I could stay on the deck all day, you see so much nature, and deer trekking through the driveway! Sunsets that are simply divine. Thank you Karen for the opportunity! Loved our stay. House was very clean and the views are amazing. The sunrise/sunsets are incredible. Our favorite activity was sitting on deck. We enjoyed being away from the harbor and enjoyed the quiet neighborhood.

Was a good stay for two people. Very nice view of Haro Strait. Kitchen was very nicely outfitted. The stairs down to the unit and the very high bed are not the best for an older couple. Good place to stay if the stairs are not a problem.

This property has absolutely amazing views of the Haro Straight. It is only about 15 minutes from Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor so a quick drive to a grocery store or restaurant/shops. The bed upstairs requires a step stool (provided) to get into bed but then you get those beautiful views from there as well. A twin w a trundle bed provide sleeping for 2 more but in the main room. That was not an issue for us as we go to bed before our teens do. The home was clean with plenty of pots/pans for cooking. The option to clean the place to eliminate a cleaning fee was new to me but we were able to get enough done before we had to catch a ferry that it all worked out fine. Washington state and the San Juan Islands are a long way from Atlanta, GA but I would definitely stay here again!

My wife and I enjoyed a great anniversary at the Westside vacation home. A soak in the hot tub at night was a special treat. The place was spotless, with great attention to detail through decorations and furniture.
The only sounds were those of wildlife and a breeze through the trees. Such a great escape!

What a beautiful, private and tranquil spot! It is close to Roche Harbor and less than 20 minutes from bustling Friday Harbor. The house is very well equipped and clean. We enjoyed the hot tub overlooking the gorgeous view. We also enjoyed the small, colorful birds that visited the feeders on the deck each day. Deer came into the yard on several occasions. The day pass to the parks that Karen provides is a nice touch. The sunsets are simply stunning. We certainly hope to return one day!

If you are looking for a modest but tranquil and serene place to unwind, this is it! Awesome view of the ocean/islands. The home was perfect for us (couple plus teenage daughter). The owner made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend. Great value!

The location of this property is amazing! The house is plenty spacious and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook. The views from the deck and living room are gorgeous. We spent hours sitting on the deck reading books and looking at the water. Additionally, there is a gate installed on the deck so we didn’t need to leash our dog while sitting on the deck. The hot tub was an added bonus. We cannot wait to return to the island and stay here!

We were so pleasantly surprised by Karen's lovely home on San Juan Island. The common area is more spacious than it looks in the pictures, and the twin trundle bed in the living room added more than enough space for our family of four. Nothing beats looking out over the water or up at a starry sky from the comfort of a king bed. What a delightful property. We also really appreciated the additional creature comforts. So many rental homes make you start over from scratch. This place had some basics, like salt & pepper, ketchup & mustard, coffee, sugar, soap and shampoo. So nice!

This house is in one of the nicest spots in the state - overlooking the Haro Strait and Vancouver Island. Sunsets were spectacular, and we had all sorts of wildlife visit (in a good way) during our stay. Our kiddo had a hard time with the lack of window shades, making it very difficult to fall asleep until after sunset, which is pretty late this time of year, but he loved the bird feeders and the views.

This was a perfect place to enjoy San Juan Island! It has a spectacular view of the ocean, with plenty of places to sit and view it, both inside and outside. The hot tub and wood stove were added amenities that we loved! The owner gets 5 stars for having such a wonderful place to stay with everything we needed along with excellent communication with us. We wished we would have booked it for more days! We will definitely be back to stay in this adorable oceanside cottage!!

House was awesome, had a well stocked kitchen for cooking. Amazing views of the sound, wood burning stove that kept the house nice a warm. Host was very quick with communications and was very helpful with planning the trip. The water heater did go out the last night we stayed but it was fixed first thing the next morning. My only complaint with the house was the bed, it’s almost 5 feet off the ground and you have to use a step stool to get in and out of bed. It was incredibly inconvenient for my pregnant wife and could be an issue for older guests, it’s a bit of drop if you get up in the middle of the night and miss the little step stool. But over all, nice house, nice property and beautiful views .

This was a perfect few days watching the Sound, bald eagles and enjoying the quiet of nature and we loved the peace and quiet for a quick getaway. The house is charming and the hot tub is so relaxing. Coffee on the porch in the mornings is a must!

Absolutely wonderful stay on San Juan Island. The house has everything you need, plus simply breathtaking views. Secluded location offers the opportunity for total relaxation and the chance to recharge. Proximal location of the property to Roach and Friday Harbors allows opportunities for great outings, and additional sightseeing. Can't wait to go back!

The home was exactly as pictured. Clean, comfortable and amazing views! A really lovely, quiet, peaceful spot on the island. Our family of 4 had a great time relaxing in the home, sleeping in the comfortable beds and exploring the treasures of San Juan.

The cottage warmth, views and location were outstanding. Accessibility from the parking area to the residence on the outside dozen wooden steps with no handrail was challenging. The loft's king bed was indeed elevated, and daunting; it's 4.5 feet high. The hot tub was divine and up to temperature. Unfortunately the many knick-knacks take up valuable counter space, but they are easily moved. The wonderful hostess allowed us to move in early which was most welcome since it was cold and snowy, and we had taken an early ferry. Perhaps the biggest surprise was to learn upon arrival that there was an expectation for self-clean upon departure lest any cleaning costs in excess of 2 hours would be taken from the security deposit.

We had a great time at this house over Christmas. The kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials so all we have to do was bring our food. The hot tub is private and positioned well so you can still see the water. The upstairs bed is really cool because it's elevated so you can actually see directly out of the windows onto the water. It's positioned well between Roche harbor and lime kiln point, and is a manageable 20 minutes into Friday harbor. Overall, we had a great day and appreciate the great communication from the hosts. We've already talked about returning.

There was an island wide power outage an hour after we got off the ferry. Karen was amazing in contacting us and offering to reschedule unfortunately we were stuck on the island so she set us up with the woodstove and wood. We were able to stay warm throughout the night and her lovely husband brought us coffee in the morning. Was not what we planned but it was exactly what we needed. Our 26th anniversary is one we will never forget!

We thoroughly enjoyed the space we stayed at, the house is tidy, well furnished and had many little extra comforts scattered throughout. In the mornings we were met face to face with several baby deer and their mothers while we drank coffee on the deck overlooking the beautiful view. The evenings are extremely quiet and tranquil, almost as if you’re alone in the woods by yourself. The hot tub at night is fabulous. We had a dry but cold weekend and it fit in to our relaxing weekend well. The small dilemma we ran into was met with extremely prompt response. We would absolutely stay here again.
