Built in the 1840's and newly renovated, this 2-level, 4-bedroom Italianate-style townhome apartment reflects the Federal majesty of the mid-1800's, and the individualistic expressions of post-Civil war Gettysburg. Street-facing windows on the main level are accentuated with stained glass, creating a feel-good rainbow effect in the common area parlor and dining room.

Bedrooms on the first and second level pay tribute to the owners' family heritage. Take your pick from the Charles, Chastang, Earley or Hughes bedrooms. Like the people whose names they bear, each room has its own personality and ambiance.
A major upgrade is the amazing chandelier-adorned spa bath that lets you know this is no ordinary Gettysburg address... This is The LaVerne Guesthouse.

Located one-half block from Lincoln Square and three doors down from the historic Wills House, The LaVerne is within walking distance to dining, antiquing, shopping, and the theater. This guesthouse is appointed with all the basics you need to feel at home, including kitchenware, towels, linens and paper products.

The property will be cleaned and ready for your arrival; however, there is no daily housekeeping service. Therefore, we respectfully request that you maintain the home in a neat and orderly fashion, wash any dishes used in the kitchen and spot clean when necessary.

This is our second home in Gettysburg. We welcome only guests who are willing to respect our property as if it is their own. This is why we will rent only to families or couples. Please do not inquire if you intend to use our home as a “party pad.” We have a property manager who will respond immediately if you ever need assistance during your stay.

Leave your car in your private parking space and take a walking tour of the pre and post-Civil War era architectural styles in the Gettysburg Historic District. And don't forget to check the schedule for nightly performances or frequent art shows right in the neighborhood. Or, catch the bus for a short ride to the battlefields and visit the Civil War Museum.

If you do decide to take a drive, visit the nearby Gettysburg Outlet Stores...or tour one of the close-by wineries. Whatever your itinerary, your stay will be in the perfect location. The LaVerne Guesthouse... a home of historic distinction.

Stayed with friends at The LaVerne. The location is second-to-none. It was easy to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The rooms were well appointed and the guest house had everything we needed. Don't think twice about renting this place!

We stayed at the LaVerne quest house while visiting Gettysburg for a family wedding. When we walked in we all said "Wow" this is so, so nice - the place is beautifully painted with some cool and interesting decorating accents. Beds were clean and comfortable - air conditioning excellent as it was super hot. All in all a great place and definitely would come back again.

We loved the house and location!! Only a couple of small suggestions; 1) is to have name plates on both front and back doors. A little confusing when we first arrived. 2) a small table or counter top to place toiletries and hooks to hang towels. But otherwise it was an excellent place to stay. Convenient parking and right downtown! We wouldn’t hesitate to tell others or book again on next visit.

We had a wonderful time at the LaVerne Guest House! There was plenty of room for the whole family and all the kids were able to have their own rooms. We found the WiFi to be a little spotty but we were so active during the day that it only really impacted the kids in the evening. The beds were very comfortable and we were super thankful for the central air during the crazy heat wave we ran into. It was cooler on the upstairs level, which we thought was interesting but figure that the unit is probably on that floor so that would make sense. The location is absolutely amazing and we would definitely come back!! Thank you for a fabulous place to stay to make lifelong memories with our family!!

Gettysburg is a charming little town with a deep respect for history. We met our adult children here for the weekend. The dining and sitting areas were terrific for visiting. The kitchen is compact but we did cook one dinner and two breakfasts there. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and a short car ride to the Battlefield Museum.

La Verne guesthouse was a perfect spot to stay for a wedding held at the Gettysburg Hotel. The upstairs bathroom is huge, and the bedrooms were large enough for the girls to get ready. Since La Verne is in the heart of downtown, we were able to walk to the hotel, to dinner, to a ghost tour, and to the Dave Wills house to get a national park passport stamp. I wasn't able to message the host through the vrbo app, but they gave me her number and she was kind and helpful when I needed it. The doors can be difficult to unlock and open, but you'll get the hang of it.

I stayed at this guesthouse with 6 college friends for our class reunion. The location is excellent and spacious for 6 of us. It was so nice to have a gathering space, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and easy access to everything we needed. I gave a 4 in one category only because we had a little problem locating the lock box and the exterior sign shown in the guesthouse description doesn't exist. The owner was quick to respond with any questions and we didn't have any issues after that.

This place was beautiful, right in the heart of the square. If you have bad knees, this place is not for you. There are a lot of stairs. The place was perfect for a girls getaway. The rooms were large and accommodated our party of 7.

This property is absolutely fantastic! Myself and my four friends stayed here for a two night trip to Gettysburg. The house / apartment was in pristine condition when we arrived. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were clean and there was enough room for all of us comfortably. We were able to meet the owner and she was fantastic. This place is easy to walk from to get to local attractions, we even went on a ghost tour while we were there. Don't hesitate to book this accommodation.

Did a family trip with 4 adults and 2 seniors. It was great to be able to walk outside in the heart of Gettysburg with grocery, shopping, and great restaurants close by! The home was just as the pictures show and was very spacious for 6 of us. Only 2 downsides to this place. First it is all on the upper floor of a building so if you have elderly folks who don't navigate stairs well, this would be a problem as climbing stairs is the only way in. Also, the upper bedroom mattresses are very uncomfortable. If these were updated this would be a primo place to stay. All in all it was very satisfacy and we would definitely book this place again. Also, the host was very quick to answer a couple of questions I had.

Only 1 small frying pan More hooks in bathrooms A table, chair or another counter in upstairs bathroom to place change of clothes and toiletries Both showers need no slip mats or strips. Aluminum foil Bedrooms need two lamps each.

This was our third time staying at the LaVerne Guest house. Every time check in is easy and the house is perfectly clean and nicely decorated. The location is the best, just steps from the center of town. It’s the perfect place for a family with a bunch of kids that can't fit into less than 3 hotel rooms.

The LaVerne property was extremely easy to access close to all local restaurants and bars in the square. The home was extremely clean, updated and had plenty of space for 5 adults and 2 children. Would definitely return! Owners are kind and quick to respond!
