It is a short two minute walk to the waters edge and nearby restaurants. From your terrace you might catch a glimpse of migrating whales as well as dolphins who frequent the waters.
Isla Taboga is a small island of about 900 friendly people in the Pacific just 10 miles from Panama City. This lush island boasts nice beaches, hiking trails, assorted wildlife and gorgeous flowers. We have a wonderful new ferry, Taboga Express, located on Amador Causeway by Restaurant TGI Fridays and Balboa Yacht Club which departs Panama at 3pm. The Ferry Schedules are located on our Tres Terrazas website for your convenience. There are daily flights into Tocumen International Airport with Continental, United and American Airlines, among others. Charming and comfortable spot on Tobago Island
A wonderful choice, very spacious, spotlessly clean, well represented by the photos on the listing. After a tiring day of traveling it was just what we needed to be greeted by our wonderful hosts with their warm welcome and very friendly and complete check in. During our stay we spent most of our awake time on the covered porch which is fantastic, great views, and a nice place to sit and just watch island life literally pass in front of you, or take a nap in the hammock. Staying here was the highlight of our trip to Panama, highly recommend.

Sea Views
We enjoyed our stay at Tres Terrazas, especially the shady verandah with the views and the hammock! The location is good, a short (up and down hill) walk to everything and not far from the ferry landing. The locals are friendly and usually said hello as we passed. Our hosts, living next door, were helpful and friendly but did not "hover". The rooms were clean and spacious for the 2 of us however, if 2 couples were there, the bathroom is en suite and therefore perhaps not an ideal situation.
You really do have to bring any food you need to have, or eat out, There are two tiny grocery shops and we did find a couple of items but choices are very limited, as we'd been told. The apartment has a selection of books to read or exchange, which was nice.
The listing was pretty accurate although, for our purposes, the kitchen was not what we would call "fully equipped". Perhaps we should have requested the items we could have used. The Wifi was erratic at times but, apart from those two mild criticisms, we were pleased with our choice and would recommend it to others.

Island Living
I agree completely with the many positive reviews for Tres Terrazas and I will attempt to add to them. As the pictures show the apartment is very large with a high ceiling. What they do not show is how spotlessly clean and well maintained the owners keep the rental. There are ceiling fans in every room, even two on the patio, and a very quiet split unit air conditioner in the bedroom which I used at night. The apartment’s water is as soft as rain and is as good as any I have ever tasted. I lived on it for a week and never felt better. Jeannette and Thijs are native English speakers and answered all my questions when I had problems with Español. They are also two of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. The only hiccup on my week stay was when the island’s generator went out for an hour one night. But even that was fun because when the power came back on the town’s residents let out a cheer! There is a new ferry service from Panama City called Taboga Express. I never used it but the locals were very excited about it. The best part of Tres Terrazas of course is the location. My fantasy was always to live on a small isolated island and Isla Taboga certainly fits that bill. The biggest surprise of my stay was the almost complete lack of insects and rain on the island. I do not know if the two are related but it certainly was enjoyable. I could watch it rain almost every night on the mainline but only once on the island. As the temperatures in the Midwest of the USA are approaching freezing my mind wanders to my next trip to Tres Terrazas.

Wunderschoen!!!

Relaxation an hour outside of manic Panama City!
You will not be disappointed booking this apartment!
Get out of the city to relax in your hammock or catch some sun on the clean beaches.
Large kitchen to prepare your meals to eat on the fabulous terrace with stunning views. (restaurants readily available if this isn't your thing)
Plenty of space for my friend and I - we had the best stay!
Couldn't have been looked after any better by Jeanette & Thijs, even provided some fresh aloe when the sun got the better of us.
A narrow spiral staircase for entry so make your luggage light and small.
Would recommend for a chilled out break from it all!

Peaceful Getaway
I had the pleasure of staying at Tres Terrazas for two nights in February. With the storms back east where I am from it was so wonderful to walk around in shorts and sandals, swim in the warm water and relax in the hammock on the expansive terrace. The views, like everyone else says, are incredible and it is a quick walk to the beach. There are several restaurants with delicious food and the people are quite friendly. The meticulously clean apartment has total privacy but Jeannette and Thijs live next door and can help you with whatever you might need. Wish I could have stayed longer!

Lovely stay
I stayed here with my retired husband, and my adult son and his wife. We had a wonderful time though we really didn't avail ourselves of the restaurants or bars on the island. This was a time to relax and enjoy each other's company since my son lives in Panama, and I don't see him very often. The place was clean, adequately stocked for cooking and dining, and wonderfully located. We loved sitting on the balcony overlooking the harbor and watching the container ships waiting to go through the canal. Our hosts were helpful and friendly but not overbearing. Really a perfect time.
One issue that I think those who are considering staying here need to know is though it sleeps four comfortably, the bathroom is in the bedroom. It is a great bathroom, and we had towels for inside use and beach use. However, this could be an uncomfortable situation if the four people were just friends and not related. I would recommend adding a door or even a curtain in the alcove for the toilet. The bathroom is extremely large so really more than one person could be using it with a little more privacy.
So, great for us but perhaps not for everyone.

relax in this peaceful seaside village
The apartment is exactly as described on the website, very comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The owners are charming and very welcoming, but totally respect the need for privacy and peace. The view is panoramic and interesting. The beach to the east end of the island is good for swimming. There is good fishing for small fish from the jetty. Ensure you bring all your food supplies, per the advice, as the supply on the island is not good quality or reliable.

GREAT VIEW
This 1 bdrm apartment is perfect for a couple. It is stocked with everything you need except a washer/dryer and that is almost a necessity. The incredible view from your private large porch complete with ceiling fans is unmatched. When you tire of the pure relaxation, you can be on the beach in less than five minutes. However, for the cleanest water and beach visit the north-end of the island. For other distractions check out the historical church square, water-front pub and grills, weekend open-air vendors, cemetary and kayaking. During our visit, there was a canopy zip line very near to completion on the northwest end of the island. We were very fortunate to meet expat island residents that guided our hikes to the 3 highest peaks on Taboga...El Morro,
Mirador, and Careba Cruz. In addition, they led our hikes to Las Tres Cruces (the 3 crosses) and Balboa (the west side of the island). All of these adventures should be on your list, but DO NOT venture on your own. The trails are unmarked, overgrown and subject to slides and tides. In addition, knowing basic Spanish is HIGHLY recommended and be prepared to pay high prices in cash for almost practically everything during your stay. As far as boat tours, fishing or whale watching....very hard to come by. Our hosts were near-always available and did their best to accommodate any requests. Although we plan to revisit Taboga in the future as we made several new friends, a month proved a bit long.

Relaxation in Tropical Splendor
Just a short walk from the ferry, everything on the island is uphill, so pay the $2 for the taxi upon arrival. The apartment is very roomy, clean and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. The view from the balcony day or night is peaceful (we were there during a full moon which added to the beauty of the evenings). You can see Panama City in the distance and the boats waiting to transit the canal. You can cook your own food or frequent one of the few local restaurants. Jeannette and Thijs are very friendly and helpful in offering suggestions about what to do and where to eat. The bed is comfortable and the ceiling fans provide all the cooling you need for a good night sleep and the roosters serve as your alarm clock (there is air conditioning if you really need it). The people on the island are friendly. The beach is unique as it disappears with the rising of the tide. This is a wonderful alternative to a hotel room and a great place to unwind after exploring other parts of the country. In a nutshell - you can't go wrong in booking the apartment.

Happy in the Sun
If you want to be a little off the beaten path (12 miles from Panama City, a 1/2 hour ferry ride away), Taboga is the place to be. After being there for 3 weeks in Jan/Feb 2014, I can say there is no better apartment on Taboga than Tres Terrazas. It is comfortable, spacious, clean, nicely done, a short walk to the beach, with a wonderful porch having a view of ships waiting to enter the Panama Canal. Jeannette and Thijs could not have been better, arranging a taxi upon our arrival in Panama City, picking us up at Taboga ferry, giving us organic bananas, papaya and limes, and sharing island information. Reading on the beach was our main activity, but it was also enjoyable to walk and discover island life. We have memories of many interesting and happy things, including food and tides, but I will let you find it for yourself! ps. no rain.

A Perfect Getaway from the City
If you are looking for a perfect getaway to relax, look no further! A friend and I were able to stay here and everything was excellent about our stay. The only problem was that we could only stay for two days when we wanted to stay for a week!
We spent most of our time sitting on the balcony, drink in hand, watching the ships come in to the canal with some of the best bay ocean views I have ever seen. The hammock and grill were also very nice features that got quite a bit of use while we were there. The people on the island are all friendly and everybody knows Jeannette and Thijs (owners of Tres Terrezas), so you will be in good company throughout your stay. If there is anything that you need, the owners go out of their way to help or make sure you have everything you need. They even pick you up and drop you off at the ferry point! Within Latin America, there are not too many people that are open to all orientations, but Jeannette and Thijs were wonderful to us and treated us as if we were family. Their extra care and courtesy was much appreciated.
We were quite impressed that when we needed to get some work done, the internet and satellite television on the island worked very well! The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. Everything is within walking distance and the island is so small that there are only a couple of vehicles – most drive a gold cart or gator, if anything. Nearby restaurants are great, and the beach is a fantastic place to relax. With that said, make sure to follow the owner’s advice and go grocery shopping before arriving on the island as only the basics are available and at a higher cost. I will also advise not to let the “rainy” season deter you from coming during the summer and fall months – the weather was absolutely beautiful with only a couple of clouds and showers during our visit. We cannot recommend this rental enough and look forward to returning again!

Great place to get away from it all
Great place, we were met on the dock by Thijs, who gave us a quick tour of the island, to get the lay of the land. The apartment is exactly as advertised, very nice and comfortable, with everything you need. The view is great, beach and water are excellent and afternoons perfect for sipping on a drink and swinging in the hammock.
At night the Isla shuts down around 8:00PM, so there are no loud noises to bother you other than roosters in the morning.
Thijs and Jeannet are there if you havce questions and the locals are very nice also.
A nice get away, stayed longer than we planned and would definately return next time in Panama.

My Home Away From Home on Taboga
This is the 2nd time I've stayed at Tres Terrazas with Jeanette and This (pronounced Tise :) Each time was quite enjoyable. The first time was over a year ago when my bf and I had visited the island. This time some friends were with me and it was more than enough room for us all. My friends btw, loved it there and were quite impressed with the accommodations!! It was their first visit to Panama.
I've been to Taboga Island quite a few times and absolutely love it there. I've heard people say that there's nothing to do but quite honestly if you give it a chance the island reveals itself to you in ways that will make you keep coming back as I have done. It's quite enchanting and you definitely need a few days there to take it all in.
Tres Terrazas as a rental space is a very good value in that there is enough room for small groups or couples travelling with children. They have the main bedroom as well as the front room that can be converted as needed. Also, what's nice is you can prepare meals either in the kitchen or BBQ on the terrace. For long stays this is ideal. Just do your shopping in PC before your arrival since there's only a couple stores on the island which carry the very basics.
What else can I say? Jeanette and This are wonderful hosts who go out of their way to make you feel special. They are so warm and pleasant but not overbearing as some people can be who I've stayed with before. They have a ton of information about the island and can point you in the right direction about things to do while there. The apt itself is clean and comfortable and the view from the balcony is quite a site. My favorite time is sunrise while I watch the sky change colors from across the water and see the 1st birds and fisherman start their day. Nothing compares..... (Ahhh to be back again!!)
There are other places to stay on the island and would only recommend Cerrito Tropical which is a B&B and very nice in it's own right. But if I had to choose I would pick Tres Terrazas bc of the more homey feel and flexibility it can provide for different types of travelers. I prefer the autonomy an apt or casita provides and it's all yours. No other guests to break the zen if you know what I mean. It actually works out to be more affordable too if you're a small group compared to renting multiple rooms at other places.
I highly recommend Tres Terrazas and would stay there again & again & again!! Lol!! I think you'll feel the same way too.... Happy travels!! :))

Very Tranquil
Wonderful place. Met on the dock by Thijis, great guy and fun to talk with .
Jeanette was away ,so Thijis was the greeting committee as well as the guide. Shuttled us off to the apartment , just like the photo's simple, clean and comfortable, with a view that is breath taking.
After giving us time to settle in Thijis gave us the tour of the Isla points of interest, restuarants, etc.
At night the Isla shuts down very early around 8:00PM, is the closing time for places to eat.
And that is when it hits you, the complete silence of the place, save for some background TV , noise it is so quiet .
Roosters all have thier own watches so they do their thing all day, but it's really not a bother ,isla is easy to get around and people are helpful.
If you want to completely forget about all your cares and worries , and disappear ,this is the place ,internet works great, the apartment has A/C, and everything a home would have.
Thijis is there when you need him, otherwise leaves you alone .
A nice get away, would repeat again

We logeerden in april 2013 gedurende 1 week in Tres Terazzas.

The Best Place To Stay On Taboga Island Is Tres Terrazas.
Tres Terrazas on Taboga Island is an ideal place to call home while visiting this lovely island.
It is a only 2 minute walk down the hill to the beaches & the town.
The house has everything you need for a very relaxing & pleasant stay.
A Full Kitchen including microwave oven & coffee maker make preparing breakfast, lunch and/or dinner a breeze. A color TV and Wi-Fi will keep you in touch with the world if you wish and a good supply of books and magazines will keep you in reading material.
The Hosts, Jeannette and Thijs, will answer all your questions and provide solid advise on dining locations, purchasing food and things to see & do on the Island and also back on the mainland.
We spent a Perfect 5 Days on the island before heading back to Panama City and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Jeannette met our arriving ferry, arranged our luggage delivery to the house, brought us up to Tres Terrazas and gave us a tour of the house. She then got us back to the ferry when it was time to leave and arranged everything for a smooth departure. Everything went perfect our Entire Visit !!! We would certainly visit this great little island again and of course, stay at Tres Terrazas.
We highly recommend this location to accent your Panama vacation trip.

Unique Individuals Offerning Unique Accomodations
Hola,
With 125,000 miles of travel this year alone I can assure you it absolutely the "little things" that you do not even think about that make THE DIFFERENCE. As a physician doing extensive mission work in spectacular, as well as, the most challenging environments. Rarely do you meet altruistic individuals that just want to see you enjoy their accommodations, while experiencing everything an area has to offer.
Jeannette and her husband more than exceed these standards. I phoned her late on Mother's day (for a next day arrival) she was more than sincere and accommodating. She told me their property was occupied now, however, the family was leaving in the morning and she would personally get the home ready. I told her I would make the rental as "painless as possible" three phone calls later THAT night she was still eager to assist.
With less than a 1000 individuals residing on the island (depending if the ferry is coming or going), you do not have many choices with regards to were to stay or to eat.
Google almost banned me from any more Toboga Island searches: romantic Toboga Island accommodations, oceanfront rooms Toboga Island, best ocean view Toboga Island, best hotel Toboga Island, etc. Anyway, after way to much research decided on Jeanette's place which proved to be favorable.
I actually flew over on a helicopter. Jeanette's husband picked us up and immediately offered to give us a tour of the island so we would be acquainted with our surroundings. Next, we went to our home which has a huge deck with panoramic views of the ocean, adjoining islands, etc. Inside, the home their is a nice living room with an adjoining kitchen and an ice cold master bedroom with huge bathroom.
There were just two of us, however, the home could easily accommodate two couples or a family.
The home was all inclusive, gas grill on the deck, kitchen full of appliances, Wifi was readily available, as well as, satellite tv, even masks and snorkles ready to go.
Anything forgotten was just a short phone call away to Jennette. They have resided on the island for the last seven years and WILL tell you what the best the island has to offer and what to avoid. Again, they know their island and are eager to tell you the good and the ugly which can save you from eating in the wrong place or fishing with the wrong captain, etc When I left a set of keys, she made sure they were delivered on the ferry back to Panama City. When I asked to compensate her she just laughed.

Jeanette and Thijs were great hosts to me and my husband as we stayed in their home. It's a very clean and peaceful house with all the privacy we needed. We enjoyed the beach and scenery of this small island. The people are nice and whatever you want is walking distance. If you enjoy fishing and eating fresh fish, make arrangements with Thijs and he'll charter you out on his 24 foot panga. Jeanette provided fresh herbs from her garden for us and we grilled our fish on our balcony. What a perfect weekend retreat for us and we look forward to returning.
