About this house rental
Important before booking: READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION. A two-day minimum and one-week maximum stay at this time. Thank you.
With a pond on one side and a mountain stream on the other, and surrounded by forest, this is the place to get away from it all. Heated Saltillo Tiles in well-appointed kitchen, two full bathrooms, with a piano and pool table for your amusement. Oak and cherry flooring and woodwork complements the totally renovated interior. Cross the bridge over the stream, and you are on your way to a beautiful hike in New York State's largest Park.
Two electric reclining top grain leather couches were delivered 2/2020. Very comfortable, room for three on each with ease. Also an electric recliner.
There is a firepit, gas grill, an offset smoker/grill. You can while away your evenings, telling ghost stories, roasting wienies or making s'mores over a crackling fire. Kindling is steps away and firewood is available for sale all over the area, but I usually have some here.
We are also children friendly, but NO GUEST DOGS ARE ALLOWED due to incidents of guest dogs with our dogs. Incidents were very rare, but for the benefit of all, we reluctantly took that step. We have two female dogs on site and they are people friendly.
More than 6 people, or more than 3 cars; please let me know more. Not out of the realm of the possible., but water/well constraints come into play...to wit:
We have a well, and unlike city living, the water supply is not endless. It is good water, but, for example, long showers by guests strain the supply. The well needs to replenish. Any action that can conserve water, such as utilizing the shower quick shutoff valve on the shower head, spacing out showers, is appreciated. Country living does have a few constraints!
Note that I charge additional for guests numbering more than 4, at 20 dollars per night per person, up to 6. Also very important: Absolutely NO SMOKING or VAPING inside the house. Ashtrays are provided for smoking outdoors, thanks for being considerate of other guests in this regard-- it is deeply appreciated!
15 Minutes from Ellicottville's skiing (consistently ranked highly in Ski Magazine) and 5 minutes from the Seneca Allegany Casino (with its entertainment and dining excellence), you have vacation options galore. Upon booking, I send details of local things to do with websites to click on to find out more.
The house has a 65-inch screen smart TV in the living room and a smart 49 inch one in the 2nd floor master bathroom, which has an attached deck. DIRECTV provides viewing pleasure; it is a basic service, so bring your Netflix, Prime, etc. passwords with you.
Three bedrooms, all upstairs, with beds as follows: one King, one Queen, one Full. Both bathrooms are spacious, one upstairs and one downstairs, and the open floor plan with no walls between the Oak Room (with pool table), kitchen and living room make socializing ideal.
Beautiful hiking, with Art Roscoe's ski/bike/hike trails and Stone Tower, with its stunning views, but a short distance away. There are 5 mountain streams, with no habitation upstream, in the back 40, which is surrounded by Allegany State Park.
I also ask that people bring their own pillows and blankets, though I will provide them if absolutely necessary. Note that I will have to wash all of them after you leave, so that is an added hurdle both in time and cost. LET ME KNOW IN ADVANCE if you require either, such as you flying in.
This is a great place to forget about the rat race, the daily stresses of living...if only for a short while. Nature is therapeutic, and you walk out the door and hike immediately. A crackling fire at night. Feeding fish in the pond. You will feel rejuvenated.
Thanks so much for your interest and know that once you get here (I live on site), I leave you alone except to help as a concierge of sorts. Cheers.
Note: As said, I live on site with my wife. Our home is 50 yards from the house. Once you check in, we make ourselves scarce except to respond to questions or requests. We treasure our privacy as well. We the last place on the left to a dead-end road. Thank you.

I stayed for a few days with my teenage kids to just get some time alone together and enjoy the quiet. There was plenty of space and everything we could possibly need. The scenery was lovely, so peaceful and quiet. The resident pups were so well behaved and friendly. We had unfortunate weather but still had a great time playing board games and eating good food. The kitchen could have been cleaner I suppose but nothing we didn’t expect with a cabin in the woods. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. The host was very friendly and helpful. Overall it was exactly what we hoped for and had a really great experience at The Camp!

We had such an amazing time here. The accommodations were so relaxing and comfortable. We played games, watched movies, hiked, fed the fish in the pond, played pool, made s’mores over a bonfire, played with the dogs and even tried to fly a kite unsuccessfully. Then we experienced the eclipse at a local event and had a blast. This is an amazing place to do whatever your heart desires!

Had a great stay. Sid and his dogs Pup and Maggie were great. The place and location worked well for us while we were in town for the Snocross races at Seneca Casino.

Wonderful stay. Surrounded by nature, quiet, and very spacious home. The heated floor was a treat after an adventurous winter hike. Close drive to local amenities. Felt safe and had a great stay!

We had a wonderful long weekend at ‘The Camp’, a spacious, well appointed rental in the forest. Host Sidney is gracious, interesting and very helpful. We made good use of the pool table and piano in the evening after skiing, and enjoyed the library of jazz music available on vinyl. We also enjoyed visits from the pups! The sloped walkway from the parking area to the house was a bit slippery due to the weather but there is a handrail. If the opportunity arises we would definitely go back!

Nice location and has all the things needed for a great stay. The parking is very tight and in the winter I wouldn’t recommend unless you have an all wheel drive. Super nice host!!

Syd was great w communication both before and during our stay. His dogs Maggy and Pup are welcoming and my dog and daughters loved them.
The surroundings were peaceful and relaxing allowing us to just hangout and connect as a family. The size of the home was large and very confortable for us and two dog brothers. I do a lot of cooking and the large kitchen was perfect for a feast and all to eat together for meals.
This property will be a definite to visit again when its a tad nicer out to partake in hiking and more exploring. Absolutely everyone had a great time un plugging while still being close enough to stores and shops.
Thanks Syd and fam

A couple of us ran and a couple volunteered at this instant fall classic. The place was only a few minutes away. Wish we could of stayed longer.

This house had everything for a relaxing family get together…a nice, big kitchen, lots of comfortable seating, a pool table, cute dogs and it’s close to the park! We’re already trying to figure out when we can come back.

Absolutely adored our time at The Camp. Sid is wonderful at providing any information, answering any questions, and having a lovely chat. I cannot recommend this getaway enough!

Great size for our group of 6 to enjoy a family reunion weekend. We enjoyed the wind down campfire every night.

We really enjoyed ourselves. Everything we needed was available. So homey and very comfortable. Was greeted by owner and he went the extra mile helping us unload our vehicles. Pleasant area and alot to do nearby. I would recommend this place and plan on coming back.

Great Host and great location , would definitely go back!

Sidney was incredibly kind and welcoming. We love to reading his backstory to the property and exploring the woods behind. The house itself was very spacious and provided plenty of supplies. We would absolutely stay here again!
Sydney also went above and beyond for us, is we had some issues arriving to the property when we were supposed to. We really appreciated his understanding and kindness.

Large and lovely property very spacious with many fun things to do. Pool table was great! Friendly host and lovely wooded surroundings.

What a wonderful property! From the moment of arrival Sid, our host was on hand to help us settle in and show us around the beautiful home.
We had a wonderful evening with our son and daughter-in-law by the fire pit.
We had booked for the entire Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately my husband had a life threatening emergency Sunday morning and we spent the next 4 days in hospital in Olean New York.
Our son and daughter-in-law stayed at the property until Monday, Sid and his wife couldn't have been kinder or more generous.
When my husband is recouped we plan on coming back for a full week.
I am planning on this proposal becoming our annual getaway

This is the second time we stayed here. The location is beautiful, and Sid is a great person. We did have a minor issue with between our dog and Sid's but we were able to work it out.

Sid was one of the best hosts I've ever delt with. This place was the perfect cabin for our ski weekend @ Holiday Valley.

Sid is an amazing host, friendly, down to earth and makes you feel right at home. Not only was he a great host but his amazing dogs Pup and Maggie kept an eye on us and were great hiking guides taking us through the woods and even lead us to Stone Tower. They would patiently stop and wait for us to catch up before moving on. We loved it.
The home is very spacious and beautiful. Everything we needed was right at our fingertips. This is definitely a great place to connect with nature, listening to the babbling brook as you drift off to sleep. Peaceful.
We were lucky enough to catch snowfall on our last day which made it even more beautiful to look at and just sit back and enjoy.
The picture don't do it justice. Highly recommend and hope to come back again.

Beautiful peaceful setting right on the edge of Allegheny State Park; excellent amenities including well stocked kitchen and tiled walk in shower; hospitable and engaging host with great local knowledge of Seneca history.

Greatly enjoyed this vacation rental spot that was a 10 minute drive away from Allegheny State Park. Salamanca had so much to offer as well. The house had a nice pond to fish out of. The hosts were wonderful and communication was great. They helped us with everything we needed

Sid was fabulous. Check in was seamless. Everything you could possibly need in a rental from towels to a fully supplied kitchen. We also enjoyed his dogs Pup and Maggie. Close to the Casino and Allegheny State Park. Hiking trails all around the property. Stone tower is a nice hike close enough.

A lovely spot in the woods near Allegany State Park
We were all delighted with the comfortable accommodations. Our host couldn't be nicer or more helpful. We just wanted a relaxing few days away from everyday concerns and we played pool, cards and board games. There were several places to eat out besides a grill and a fully equipped kitchen.
4.9
Sid is an attentive and responsive host, knowledgeable about the area, including suggestions for hiking, biking and exploring the surrounding areas. The setting is relaxing, spacious and clean, everything needed for our week stay was supplied and more!

Wilderness Retreat
The place is very spacious and was very quiet for a relaxing visit. It was such a great way to start our summer vacation. From feeding the fish in the pond, playing pool, campfires, walking in the woods and enjoying the tourist attractions that the owner provided it is a great place to stay. Definately planning on visiting again.

The host and property were amazing. The off set smoker wasn't working so he ran out and purchased one for our stay. He also supplied propane for grill within moments of running out. There was literally everything we needed and things we wouldn't even think of. Rainy day? Pool table along with smart TVs are enough to keep anyone busy. We cannot wait to book again.

We liked this house because it was only about 30 minutes to the Red House Admin Bldg area in Allegany State Park. The house was very spacious. Living room couches were very comfy. Bed was very comfy. Upstairs bathroom was enormous, and very clean. Didn’t really use downstairs bath, but it was big, too, and the tile in the shower was very nice. Fancy pool table. I was even impressed with the quality of the pots and pans - the ones I used were Calphalon nonstick in perfect condition. Sid was friendly, and flexible.

Anniversary Getaway
This was the perfect place for us to getaway to celebrate our anniversary. It was peaceful and quiet and had all that we needed to enjoy our time. Sid was easy to work with and very flexible.

Family weekend
We did enjoy our time here. Sidney was a pleasure to work with and we loved that he supplied all of the paper products for our use. We loved the big kitchen with a table big enough to fit us all. It is also great that we were able to bring my ESA dog.
We were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the house. We expected a much cleaner unit as the description talked extensively of Covid protocol.
