The house was my childhood home and has been in my family for several generations. My husband and I couldn't bring ourselves to sell it when my father passed away so we decided to completely restore it. The house is like new with everything updated. We lovingly remade or restored all the best the house could be.

I believe you will be surprised by the quiet country feel of the neighborhood. The location is perfect for just about everything.
- New Braunfels is several minutes away with two rivers and the best waterpark in the country.
- Some of the best shopping in the state is less than 30 minutes away.
- San Antonio and the riverwalk are 45 minutes to the south and Austin is only 1 hour to the north.

- And the Texas hill country is at your back door.

My family had a great stay while visiting Gruene for a wedding. The ambiance of the house & heavily treed lot was just what we were looking for. We enjoyed coffee on the porch while watching the many deer and butterflies. The home was well appointed with anything one might need and the Gruene historic district was only about a 5 minute drive away. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this home when in the area again.

I enjoyed staying here. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, well-outfitted, and well-maintained. Whether relaxing inside or outside with the deer, the house had everything we needed.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Went for the eclipse. Drove 20 miles for totality and it was a dud (clouds), but the house was stellar. Great WiFi if you need it, good appliances if you’re cooking. Well-stocked. Both Keurig and drip coffee makers and tons of Keurig pods if you are so inclined. Marjorie was very responsive to questions re: AC thermostat and the intricacies of lowering blinds (operator error on my part). She comes over every day to feed the deer in the back area but is not intrusive at all. Got to meet Chubby and Elsie, the goats. Nice quiet neighborhood. Train comes by occasionally but wasn’t too close to spoil the atmosphere. Would definitely stay there again if in the vicinity.

This remodel of a historical property was of the highest quality and is perfect for 2-4 people. The bed quality was good. The property was in a good location, relatively large and quiet except for a few passing trains. There is a large patio in back of the house followed by a few pened goats. There is a 100% chance you will see lots of relatively tame deer.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming house and property for my fiance’s birthday. It’s close to Gruene and decorated impeccably for Christmas. The owners were easy to work with as well. Would definitely stay here again.

This home is tucked back in a quiet neighborhood near Gruene. We enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. The house was perfect for us and very clean. We were thrilled to have such a nice place to stay. There were deer, goats and miniature horses on the property. It made me feel at home to be there.

We choose to stay at Rahe Guest Haus because it is a hidden gem. So close to Gruene, New Braunfels, and the Guadalupe River. Nothing is more than a few minutes drive away. The owners, Marjorie and Dennis are two of the nicest and most genuine people you could ever meet. They are very accommodating and the house is always clean and fresh. We will always choose to stay here as long ast we come to Gruene or the river.

The pictures truly do not do this property justice! The house is very clean and well stocked. The beds were comfortable. Perfect layout of the house! Watching the deer outside was so much fun! Marjorie was very communicative and helpful when we had questions about the area:) Will for sure stay here again!

We had a wonderful time. The house is cozy, comfortable and well appointed. The yard was beautiful with lovely shade trees and deer! The sweet fawns were adorable. Our host brought us yummy fresh tomatoes from the garden. And the kitchen was well set up for cooking. Best of all it was super close to Gruene Hall and we saw Reckless Kelly 2 nights in a row!

The cottage is so sweet and was supplied with everything you need! It was very peaceful, and we enjoyed seeing the deer roam freely around the house! Marjorie was fabulous to work with - she is very responsive, and she lives right next door if you need her for anything!! Great weekend stay!!

This property is a great location close to Gruene and New Braunfels for all related activities. The grounds are very relaxing and the house is stocked with everything you need. The owner is super responsive, friendly and accommodating. We look forward to staying there again in the future.

This was a perfect and charming stay. It was incredibly easy checking in. The house was spotless, and quite cute. Yard and outdoor seating areas were perfect for relaxing with a cocktail, viewing the deer, and the goats and miniature horses next door. The host, Marjorie, was responsive and very personable. Kitchen was very well-equipped. Overall, a great weekend getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay as it was close to the river and “downtown” Gruene. The place has loads and loads of deer that will eat within 5 feet of you! Only negative thing was there were a lot of roaches. We had to kill several over the 2 day stay. Other than that it was delightful!

Perfect location!

We were visiting family in New Braunfels and this was a perfect location. It is minutes from Greene and downtown New Braunfels yet in a quiet country setting. Marjorie, the host, was responsive but not intrusive. We enjoyed the deer and a morning greeting from Timmy the cat. It was a great stay and we will definitely return.
