Maalea is in a convenient location on the island, being on the harbor and on the other side of the narrow neck of the island from the airport.
The exterior of the building was a little shady--it looks like an apartment complex in a poor urban area. However, many of the complexes in/around the area looked the same.
The two main drawbacks to this property are that our expectations were set too high by the photos, which made the property seem newer and nicer than it actually is. They also omit the Danger! sign on the lawn that (rightfully) warns you not to try to go directly down to the water from the property---it's rocky, with a pounding surf.
The second is that the single wall A/C unit operates on a timer, which meant that the bedrooms became too hot to sleep in comfortably. Because it's a first-floor unit, with people often walking by right outside, we couldn't keep the shutters/windows fully open (or at all in the back bedroom, which faces the parking lot).
The main positives are that the surf is literally right outside the main bedroom---you can feel the bigger waves literally shake the foundation---which we found very enjoyable at night. And management was responsive and anxious to please. For example, the washer left strange rust-colored stains on our clothes, and they figured out the problem and made it right by promptly giving us what we requested (cost of replacing the item of clothing we couldn't get the stains out of after we got home).

I rented this unit and 2 others for a family vacation. My parents stayed in this one. Was perfect for them to be able to walk out the door onto the lawn. Everything was clean and ready for them upon arrival. There was a small issue with the coffee pot. My mom called the management company and within a couple of hours someone brought over a new one and set it all up for her. Very nice people to deal with. Lots of fun. Lots of memories. Would recommend for sure.

We enjoyed the unit, one complaint in that the window air conditioning is inadequate to cool the entire space. Plus, a really large piece of furniture is blocking any air flow.

Excellent, we loved it!

It was fine for what we needed. Although there were not much businesses close by, it was centrally located between west and east of Maui. Condo needs a little updating. Water in the 2nd bathroom never got above luke warm, AC can't go above 72 degrees otherwise can go so got a little warm at times, but otherwise, condo was spacious and we enjoyed being able to walk out the patio door and on to the beach.

Island Home
Staying here felt like home. It was clean, well maintained, and very quiet. The lanai was our go to place, and we slept every night to the sound of waves. The public beach is only a short walk down the street, and we saw whales in the bay. Fabulous stay!

Great quiet location
We really enjoyed the proximity to the beach, walks every morning and the quiet at night. We hope to come back some day. The management company was great and very helpful.

Great stay but a little covid stress
Overall very nice and helpful assistance when it was in their power to remedy a situation. Check in time is a bit late, 3 would be better than 4. Covid requirements for check in were a confusing, two green checks, knowing to sign into "TRIPS" for the checks. But folks did their best to help and we figured it out.

Steps from the ocean
A little dated but overall we had a nice stay in this oceanfront ground level unit. Beds weren’t the most comfortable, TV didn’t have streaming apps, and the refrigerator didn’t have filtered water, but we still had a good time. Unit had everything we needed to cook, eat, and wash. We found the contactless check-in efficient and convenient. The pool was large enough for a few families and never felt crowded. Beach access is right there with rinse off shower. Location was fairly central for the island which made it easy going to Lahaina, Kihei, and Kapalua. Not much else is around the area, so if eating out, be prepared to drive 15-20 mins. It was convenient hopping on a charter and going to the aquarium (5 mins away). There’s also a mini golf place up the road which was fun for the kids.

Wonderful stay
We had an amazing time at the condo. It was nice to have all the amenities at our fingertips. We would love to stay again. The only few things I would change is would be more beach towels, bathroom towels and toilet paper and paper towels. Also the master bed could use a new mattress. But all in all it was a wonderful time and we would recommend it!

Traveling again
We have stayed at this property in another unit as well. I would recommend staying here for location as we love that it is not crowded has miles of beach to explore and is centrally located for much of the island. This unit has some added privacy and a nice direct ocean view which was amazing. The property manager is very communicative and they honored requests when they could. We were able to check in early as we were moving between units in island mid trip and this was greatly helpful. They had Hawaiian music and the air conditioner going to welcome us. This was a really nice touch. I want to note that they only provide you with a starter kit of laundry and dishwasher pods. There is 5 provided and this wasn’t quite enough for someone staying for more than one week and to take care of some of the check out things they would like accomplished (load of dishes ran and laundry kept at a minimum). This is a little inconvenience but something to note. Maybe bring a few from home to get you through. It is also warm in the bedrooms at night as there is no air conditioner if you close the doors. We definitely will be back to this property in the future and would recomend it to you.

Wonderful!
Lovely and comfortable - plenty of room for our family. Loved hearing the waves lap the shore right outside our door. Unit had everything we needed for heading to the beach. Furniture was very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Great beach condo in Kihei
This condo was very comfortable and in a great location. The lanai was perfect with amazing beach views and direct access to the beach. The beach was so peaceful and private, and the property's pool was great as well. My only complaint, if any, was that there was only one air conditioning unit in the condo (in the living room) so the bedrooms were slightly warm at night, but leaving the windows open certainly helped. Overall, we all enjoyed our stay very much and I would definitely stay in this condo again.

Great property
We loved the unit and the location. Centrally located on the island so easy to get everywhere. Great beach just outside the unit. Would definitely stay again.

Fantastic view, excellent value
We thoroughly enjoyed our 6-night stay at Kana’i-A-Nalu. The condo was well furnished and stocked with almost everything we needed except food/groceries. I even packed some household items just in case, and didn’t need most of them because they had them available already. Dishsoap, trash bags, laundry soap, even coffee filters. Communication with the unit owner and condo manager was quick and responsive. The view was spectacular! Definitely one of our favorite things about KAN-119. Whales, turtles, sunrises, sunsets... just lovely. Excellent value all around. Highly recommend!

Best place to stay in all of Maui!
Our experience in Maui was amazing, in big part thanks to our amazing unit and property manager. She was with me every step of the way, from before our trip started to make sure we are getting our tests done, to just before we took off from the flight to see if there are any COVID-related changes needed to be done, to checking on us when we landed, to taking care of special requests (like combining the beds in the guest bedroom), to getting our unit cool with the unit A/C before we even arrived, to immediately fixing any issues we encountered at the unit (like our internet wasn't fast enough, which she got resolved by sending an internet guy, and fixing an issue where some lamps were not working), to allowing us to extend our stay. She was readily available over the phone and text.
This unit has 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room and a lanai. The view from the living room and the lanai is amazing, and is now my virtual zoom background (it was my actual background during my work meetings ofcourse!) One of the epic things about the unit is that there is a beach shower within steps of this ground-floor unit, which means that whenever we come back from the ocean, we can easily make sure we clean our swim suits, snorkels, etc. and then easily bring them to the lanai for drying in the sun. And trust me, this will happen a lot, because it just so happens that this unit is right in front of a pretty decent snorkeling location with plenty of fish and corals. Also, just a little bit off to the side of the unit is a beach (you cannot see the beach from the living room, so you can't watch your kids play, but you can see the beach from the Lanai). The beach gets plenty of waves on windy days, enough for some basic body boarding (the unit contains 2 body boards for our use). Lots of families and kids will be found at the beach in the day time. The beach is very very long, about as far as the eye can see! We didn't see any turtles on this beach (although we did see many at other beaches on the East side of the island).
This unit is in a central location on the West side of the island (unlike many other tourist places like Lahaina which is on a corner), so this location allows for easy driving both up to Lahaina and down south towards turtle beach but also straight East to the main town that has Costco etc..
TIPS: Best snorkeling: Ahina Cove. Best Scuba: Mala Wharf. Go 2 the Hana Lava Tube, and stop @ every waterfall on the way. See Halaekala volcano sunrise!

Lovely oceanfront property
We really enjoyed our stay here with the ocean pretty much right out of our front door on this ground floor unit. The entire complex is extremely well maintained, and the unit itself is updated with a wonderful kitchen and well appointed bathrooms. While the pool was under reconstruction, we watched as the property managers were very hands on in supervising the construction crew, and it was quickly re-opened. The property managers also communicated well with us on the interim use of the pool at the property next door, and then also during the time when a local fire on the Pali mountain closed the roads for most of a day/evening. Inspite of these events, we really enjoyed our stay there and in Maalaea Bay as it's ideally located to all parts of the island.

Best Vacation Spot
This was a spectacular spot to stay at in Maui. You thought of everything to make our stay go without a hitch. The beach chairs, floats for the ocean, and beach towels were perfect. The condo was clean top to bottom and the patio was our favorite go to when we were at the condo. Can't get a more perfect relaxing spot. Thanks for sharing your condo with us!

The place was comfortable and right on the beach. It served us well for a sports training camp. It is a 25 minute drive to Lahaina and a 15 minute drive to Kihei.

Vacation in paradise
What a wonderful condo! It was close to the ocean, clean, and well stocked. Since it was on the ground level, we were literally steps from the ocean and very close to the pool. We had a gecko that visited us every day and hung out on a beach chair that we named Kahuna. Great fun. Maalaea is also a great place to stay as it is centrally located on the island. Stark Services made renting the condo very easy and when we needed something Andreas was right there to help. We would definitely stay there again if we were able to come to Maui in the future. P.S. the Minute Clinic in Kehei was a great place to go when one of us needed care.

What's not to love!?
Everything was perfect: location, amenities, check in/out, personal touches (clean, chocolates, fresh flowers, complimentary water in the fridge, the welcoming phone call as soon as we landed...) and did I mention the location!? It's worth mentioning twice! Mahalo & we hope to return!

We Loved our stay, even with Hurricane Lane!
It was great being so close the beach especially when the waves were kicking up during tropical storm Lane! We have never been in Hawaii when a big storm was closing in and was glad when it was down graded to a tropical storm.
Our accommodations were great! We especially loved the reclining coaches and being on the ground floor. Having such great access to the beach and pool and especially the barbecue area is ideal. We had friends that stayed in the garden court and they wanted to spend all their time with us. Very nice and relaxing.
The condo is very comfortable and there were boogie boards, noodles and beach chairs to make our beach excursions that much more enjoyable. It was also very humid as a result of the storm and we made good use of the two large fans to keep us cool.
I would love to come back and stay in our same condo!

Relaxing Maui family getaway!
When we were looking at condos for our Maui trip, one of the things that “sold” us on this property was the video. I have to say that in real life it was even better! You can be walking on the beach in literally less than a minute, and the access to the long stretch of Sugar Beach was wonderful for beach walks! Watching the sun peek over the shoulder of Haleakala every morning was an amazing experience, and even though you cannot see the sun dip into the ocean at sunset from this point in Maalaea, the evening colors over the city of Kihei and the mountain were spectacular! I found a very nice reef area not too far out from shore for some really nice snorkeling, and the entire area also was wonderful for boogie boarding! Many have commented on the winds in this area of Maui, but we found this to be nothing but positive! The steady breeze kept the humidity reasonable and the weather, although quite warm in early August, was very nice! With the nice breezes and the fans that are provided, we rarely needed the small A/C unit until the last couple of days when the trade breezes stopped (due to the highly rare proximity of a hurricane to the neighboring Big Island) and the humidity rose. The small A/C, with the help of the fans, kept the condo wonderfully cool and comfortable during this time. I will also comment that we found the Maalaea area to be a nice quite relief from the noise of Kihei, Lahaina, and Kahului. This area’s central location made getting to different parts of the island easy, and driving to different grocery stores (and the very close farmers market!) was extremely convenient. The condo is very well furnished, the beds are comfortable, and we enjoyed cooking almost all of our meals here. I highly recommend this condo to anyone, especially families, who may be considering a Maui vacation!

A bit of paradise,..
We really enjoyed our stay at Kanai-A-Nalu-119. This was our first time to Maui, so the central location made it easy to explore the different parts of the island. We loved the access to the beach at our doorstep. We went swimming every morning and took time to enjoy the turtles who visited the beach most evenings. The condo had everything we needed, including boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrella and cooler. We cooked dinner for ourselves on many occasions and really appreciated the barbeques. Thanks for sharing your bit of paradise :)

Excellent !!
This is my second time staying at this complex. I was in the condo next door last time. My kids and I loved it. Snorkeling and swimming right outside the door and miles of beach to walk. We watched whales and turtles from the lanai. It's low key and quiet which is right up my alley and centrally located on the island. I'll be returning here next year.

Great location and exactly what we expected
It was our first trip to Maui and we weren't sure what to expect. We found the condo to be EXACTLY as the video and photos showed. It was clean and the management team was quick to respond when we needed help with one of the TV's. It was wonderful to hear the waves crash every night as we slept. The view was spectacular. Parking is a bit tight, but most of the time we found spots close to the condo unit. The pool is a bit blah for kids, but we found we didn't spend much time at the property. The supplies provided; chairs, boogie boards, towels were really appreciated. Really thankful for the two twin beds in the second room too, very handy for our kids. Thanks for making our winter vacation a HIT.
