Looking for the perfect Pet friendly Beach cottage for your beach getaway? Welcome to Rocka-Waves Retreat!! Park your car & never have to use it during your stay. Rocka-Waves Retreat is a 3 bedroom 1 & 1/2 bath home that sleeps 8 adults in beds, (plus a pack n play travel crib to add the little one) Located in the heart of Rockaway Beach just half a block to the Ocean! Ocean views from upstairs & peek-a-boo views from downstairs bedroom & back deck!
Rocka-waves Retreat is one of the original homes in Rockaway beach built in 1918 that has been updated & remodeled & features a fully fenced front yard for the kiddos & pups to play in. There are front & back decks w/chairs, fully stocked kitchen, free high speed WiFi, Flat screen Smart TV (Amazon fireTV) with Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Video, Youtube, HGTV, NBC, ABC, Bravo, TLC, CNN apps live TV channels & more plus a DVD player with lots of great DVD's for all ages. The back deck has a Charcoal Grill, Solo Stove Firepit, chairs, beach toys & driveway with parking for 3 cars plus unlimited street parking in front & back.
The Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need including full size oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, blender, mixer, dishes, pots, pans, cake & cupcake baking pans, s'more forks, serving platters etc. There is a new full size washer & dryer too! The house has a great layout...if you have loved ones that are not good with stairs there is a bedroom with queen bed (sleeps 2) & full bathroom on the main floor. The primary bedroom upstairs has a queen bed (sleeps 2) with mountain & town view & connected to the half bathroom. The 2nd upstairs bedroom has 2 twin beds & a Full sized bed (sleeps 4 total), Ocean View & also connected to the half bathroom that has lots of storage space for everyone's toiletries. There is also a Pack n Play crib with sheets in the house for the little ones. (Pet Fee $25 per dog per stay)
We are 1 street off the ocean on the West side of HWY 101! From the back deck (Pacific street) walk a half a block to the right and you are at the Wayside which is the large round parking lot in the heart of town with public Beach access, a Pirate Ship playground, Train caboose w/Tourist info and the Train depot for the Oregon Scenic Railroad train. Go a half block to left & you are at another public beach entrance next to the Silver Sands motel. From the front deck (Miller street) walk to all of Rockaway's shops, restaurants, bars & markets.
Rockaway Beach features 7 miles of beautiful sandy beach and is known for the Twin Rocks formation. There is so much to do in here and the surrounding area! There are lots of great shops, 2 ice cream parlors, bars & restaurants including The Original Pronto Pup with the largest corndog on the roof and a mechanical corndog you can ride! Did you know Rockaway Beach was the birthplace to the corndog aka Pronto pup? Rockaway Beach is also the stop for the Oregon Scenic Railroad which travels from Garabaldi to Rockaway Beach 3 times a day in the Summer and weekends during the off season. They also have dinner trains , the Fall Splendor train and Candy Cane Express during December with Santa. You can visit the Cedar Old Growth Nature Preserve in Rockaway to see one of the biggest western red cedars and take a walk in the woods! Rockaway is also home to Lake Lytle which is a 65 acre lake with water that is warm enough to swim in during the summer and is stocked with rainbow trout and large mouth bass for the anglers in your group. You can kayak and use small boats on the lake.
The fishing village of Garibaldi is only five miles south, where you can pick up some fresh seafood at the Garibaldi Marina, get some hot fish and chips or dine at one of our faves Garabaldi Portside Bistro & Crabrock Pizza.
Tillamook is home to the Famous Tillamook Cheese Factory that hosts tours and has a great restaurant featuring all their dairy goodness including ice cream! Tillamook is also home to the Blue Heron Cheese company which is known for their different types of Brie cheese. This is a fun stop for the whole family because they have wine tasting, a petting zoo with alpacas, peacocks, goats & more, cheese tasting , great outdoor seating where you can order a nice lunch to eat while the kiddos & dogs enjoy the outside and a great store with lots of gifts & such. To the north of Rockaway Beach is Wheeler, Nehalem and Manzanita. Just 8 miles north of the house is the Nehalem Bay Winery where you can do some wine tasting year round and enjoy some live music outside during the summer.

We had an excellent stay in Rockaway. Probably the most thoughtful of hosts that i have experienced over the years. The hosts left a s’mores kit, kindling etc and there were loads of games and activities/restaurant reviews. the beach is quite large compared to others in the area and was very peaceful. We would highly recommend!

This property was immaculately clean, well supplied with toys, beach supplies and almost anything you could think of to need. Well located, walking distance to most things in town - the beach, coffee, restaurants and shopping. The hosts were very responsive to questions. Would love to go back.

The property managers were terrific and very responsive. The pictures on the listing didn't do the property justice, the property was bigger than the pictures showed. Very short walk to the beach and everything. We never had to get in our cars. The kids loved the train ride!
I would recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a casual family beach experience!

Amazing beach home with everything you need!
My family with 3 generations aged 1-70 had a fantastic time at this beach house! My kids were thrilled with the assortment of toys and each rental since then hasn’t lived up to their expectations now as they are always wondering where all the fun stuff is! The beach access is phenomenal and you have all you need with shops nearby. Although you are in a busy area it’s never noisy. Beds are comfortable and the shower is hot! We would love to come back one day. Thanks for everything!

Walk to the beach!
My teenager, Goldendoodle, and I had a fabulous time! The home was super cute and comfy with lots of little extras. We walked to the beach whenever we wanted to, especially to watch the stunning sunsets - it is so close!! Owners are so friendly and responsive. We had such a great time!

This house was perfect for my son, pups and I - it was very clean, comfortable and unique! We had a quick walk to the beach or into downtown, whichever way we went, the location is very convenient! The owners were also very great to work with, super responsive and kind. We'll definitely be vacationing to this home again, we can't wait!

Very comfortable, close to beach
Thoughtfulness really captures the vibe of this house. The kitchen is well equipped and lots of extra linens and blankets as well as things for the dog, baby and older children. The location is amazing, we were able to walk down the beach, cut over to the old cedar tree trail and back no problem. Thanks for a great house!

Quick Beach and Town Access
My husband and adult daughter and our small dog had a great three day stay in this cozy little beach house. The fenced yard was perfect for us. The house is well located just off the beach with tiny water views from the back deck and it's right in the town of Rockaway so a few steps to restaurants and shops. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

My son and I just love this house on the beach at Rockaway. It has everything you need for either an adventurous beach weekend or a quiet weekend away. Board games, toys, movies, and beach activities abound. Absolutely love staying at the “Red House” as my son affectionately calls it.

This property was very clean and just as advertised. It was very well stocked with everything adults need and had a great selection of toys for the toddler with us.
It was close enough to the beach that I could walk there even using a cane. It was close to the center of town and the old railroad.
Sandra was very easy to work with and was responsive when contacted.
The property was extacly what we needed and was perfect for us.
The toddler who was with us cried when told we were going home, she wanted to stay at the “red house”. We will definitely stay there again.

Thoughtful Owners and Great Access to Beach and Town
We had a lovely stay. The owners are very communicative and respond quickly to any questions. This kitchen had everything we needed and plenty of space to store our food. The bathrooms also had space for personal items. We were working and had no trouble with the wifi. It is a super quick walk to the beach, a small grocery store, and multiple restaurants. You are literally in the heart of Rockaway. The small fenced-in yard is nice for bringing the pup too. We would definitely stay here again.

Convenient to beach and well stocked!
We were so pleased with the location of this property. It was close enough that our 14 month old could walk to the beach with us, rather than being carried. In addition to the great location, the house was comfortable and well stocked. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into it. There were toys for the kids, beach supplies (towels, toys, bags), a pack n' play for little ones, extra dog leashes, dog bowls, and a fully fenced yard, and extra phone chargers for a variety of phones. The beds were comfortable and our son loved the "kids" room. We will stay here again on our next trip to Rockaway Beach!

Charm & Character
Great little getaway cottage. The home really had a welcoming feel about it. The hosts have thought of every incidental and provided them. This place is a perfect shore getaway. The beach is absolutely beautiful! The only reason it's not straight 5 stars is the lack of good restaurants right in town. Most places had lower quality "cafeteria type" food. However, that was offset by the fact that the place is just a short ride north or south to some very good places to eat. Overall this is a wonderful place and John & Sandi are fantastic hosts!

Awesome Location - Wish We Could Have Stayed Longer!
The home was clean and had everything a family could want: towels, beach towels, some board games, crayons, and more! Well stocked kitchen (both condiments and dishware/cookware).
Something that not all family friendly properties think of, but these hosts did: waterproof mattress covers for the kids' beds. Went to add one for my youngest child and found one already there! WOW! This kind of attention to detail takes a lot of the stress out of taking a vacation with the kids!
And the location is really convenient to all the restaurants in Rockaway Beach's downtown area, gift shops, etc... And just a short walk to the beach, pirate ship playground, and Oregon Scenic Train depot! A great spot with just the right amount of room for a family. :)
