This house was everything it is billed to be - and more. The Salmon River splits upstream and this house is perched over one side of the River. We were there in late July and there was plenty of water in the river. The sounds of the forest and the rapids makes this place quite an oasis for relaxation in the summer. Open the windows and doors and enjoy! The furniture in the living room is a bit small for lounging but there is a table/chairs and spa on the deck. There is one bedroom downstairs and two upstairs. The location in Welches is close to convenience retail and dining. The drive to Sandy for larger grocery and retail is not bad. Ultimately the house is somewhat central to enjoy drives all around the Mount Hood region. We would like to come back someday.

The cabin far exceeded our expectations. Temperatures were above 90 during our stay, and the cabin stayed comfortable. We appreciated the screens on all the windows to air things out at night. The sandy beach by the river was perfect spot to cool our feet during the heat of the day. The deck was lovely and the hot tub was so clean we even used it! (both of us are very picky in this aspect). Kitchen & bathroom are both well appointed & bed was comfortable. We did find the door combination lock more challenging than expected. If you are eager for a bathroom upon arrival I suggest stopping at the coffee shop for a drink & facilities on your way in. Much easier to figure out how to open the door when not rushed. We liked it so much we extended an additional night & plan to return.

Right on the river bank. Great stone chimney. Internet service went out the second day.

This cabin was the most charming cabin feel I've ever stayed in. The stream running of the back deck and the hot tub right there on the deck too made it sweet. Even inside with a roaring fire with the view of the stream constantly running is awesome. Fully functional and clean.

This cabin was nice but most definitely not as private as the description entails. Neighbors are very close and can see you from their home windows if you’re in the hottub. The pots and pans in the home are unusable. One pot was so dirty it had black mold growing on it, I reached out to the vacasa number and they didn’t seem to care. Among that, the dishes were dirty as well. I notified the cleaner who pulled up as we left and she was also shocked and disgusted. She said she hadn’t cleaned the home since December so whoever cleaned it prior didn’t do a great job. We stayed on a Wednesday and had to put the garbages out (4 overflowing cans from previous tenants).. In all, I don’t think the price on this property is worth the stay, especially with the nasty kitchen. If you’re looking for a private getaway, this isn’t the place.

Fantastic location close to mt hood. The yard is gorgeous with the river running through the yard . Friendly neighbors and overall a great experience. Can’t wait to go back

It is a great cabin. The location is amazing, right on the river. So beautiful. I will absolutely stay here again. Just a great little get away, and nice that it is not far from town... less than 10 minutes to get to the store if needed.

Once again we enjoyed staying here at Papa Bears cabin. It’s such a cute and cozy cabin. Even though it was chilly when we arrived, once we got the fire going in the fireplace, it got toasty warm. It seems like there was some updating to the kitchen since the last time we were there, and it was very nice to cook in. Even though it was chilly and rainy outside, I still loved listening to the river and birds in the morning, while having my coffee. The beds were comfy, we all slept very well. Even our dog liked the cabin, she was so happy and relaxed there. We can’t wait to come stay here again.

Nice cabin. Definitely has the vibe I look for when I stay in the area. Hot tub is big and it's lovely to soak while listening to the river. It's easy to get to. Only the very last section is not paved and has massive pot holes, but it's not a long stretch. It was good for two people. It's plenty of space, and there's plenty of room for dining, but I personally would prefer more comfy seating in the living room- there's plenty of space for it. If you had enough people to fill all the beds (7) there's not actually that many seats in the living room. Wifi was good; we could stream entertainment no problem. I recommend bringing some things to grill- it's a really nice grill! We realized we were missing dishwasher detergent but let them know and they brought some for us. Be warned: Charlie Harper puzzle is missing two pieces. Bring some kindling and a good fire starter, paper, etc. There's plenty of firewood, and it's under cover and dry to the touch, but it was definitely wet (heavy and steamed as it heated) and it was really hard to get the fire going. We went to get wood at the store and it was actually just as wet, maybe more so, so it's not really their fault. Seems like that's just what was available in the area. But a fire is a must for us so we kept at it! We only had one car so it was fine, but I'm not sure where you would fit a second one. It would be tight. No chance of more than 2 cars.

Pros: Location, supply of firewood, check-in process.
Cons: House could use a cleaning, poor wi-fi signal
I loved the location and property! The only things I feel were lacking was the cleanliness of the house and the reliability of the wi-fi. To feel the heat, you have to crank the thermostat all the way up and use space heaters in the bedrooms and bathrooms. But once it’s warm, it stays warm. As for the wifi — I am sure it’s difficult to get service in an area in the woods, so I’m not sure if I can dock the property for the reliability of the network. I had 0 cell signal unless I was in town, so I depended on the wifi to look up trails, things to do, general information, etc. Overall, the location made up for the shortcomings, and for the price, I can’t complain.

We stayed six nights and were very comfortable. The cabin has what you need and pleanty of space. I was relaxed and loved listeningto the river. Slept great!! The wifi, service was not good and the dvd players didntwork...but that's not why wew were there. We were there to enjoy the cabin, the river, family and relax. I definitely hope to go back next summer! The location is great..secluded and quiet but close to town ( if you do need sufficient wifi and cell service )

We celebrated out 37th Wedding Anniversary it was perfect! We brought out Labrador with us so he loved swimming in the water. It was great having a fireplace and a jacuzzi to enjoy!

The place was great,. however we were disappinted with the management / owners. The family came down with Covid the week before the trip. We asked to reschedule and even though later days were available they were not flexible. We still ended up going but a couple of us were sick. It was a beautiful place for a restful weekend and we did enjoy ourselves.

Beautiful riverside view. Spacious, comfortable. Rural area cabin surrounded by rural home owners and private property so unable to explore. Difficult to find, especially at night. Location of entryway key unclear. Bathroom only had space heater but no outlet to plug in to. No hot water the first day and no water at all the second day-lost a day skiing. Management was responsive, however; this event cut into our vacation time. The rental cost was double the advertised rate due to the added fees. Fireplace with wood was lovely. Neighbors were helpful. Roads are in bad shape so travel time was excessive.

We loved the location, the hot tub, and nearness to the mountain. Locals are very nice.

Overall the property was nice. Not having access to hot tub or TV's and the state of the house upon arrival we will not be renting here again.
2.0 / 5.0
The cabin was bitter cold upon checking in, so we went and turned on the heat upstairs and downstairs. The house was warmish about 24 hrs later. BUT when we started to prep for cooking, there was NO WATER. We spent about an hour trying to figure out what was going on. We then reached out to Vacasa who said they pinged a local manager. A few hours later someone from Vacasa texted me asking what was wrong (turns out this was the local manager who never identified themself as such). After a few hours of no water, we finally figured out that a breaker was tripped (labeled for upstairs bedroom) and that 'fixed' the issue. When there were multiple faucets on, the breaker would trip again and again. That was a nuisance.
The Hot Tub. We love hot tubs and that's a major reason we booked this cabin. The hot tub was about 75 degrees when we arrived (should be over 100 degrees). My family went in for a short time that first night, and were happy to be in water next to the river. The next day the hot tub was at 62 degrees. We were trying to figure out the issue ... and I reached out to Vacasa and then texted that person who'd texted me. He ended up coming the following evening before we checked out. He fixed the issues and then finally the following morning the tub was at 104 degrees and working ... ready for the next guests :(
We paid nearly $1,000 for three nights, and Vacasa refunded us $45 for our 'troubles'. We would not stay here again, and we now plan to avoid properties managed by Vacasa.

The hot tub was off when we arrived and took two days to get to temp, so that was disappointing. Everything else was great.

Our stay at Papa Bear's Cabin was warm, relaxing, clean, and really peaceful. The hot tub is huge, the fireplace massive, the riverbeautiful
3.0 / 5.0
Stunning location and cabin, unfortunately the hot tub didn't work and we lost power before midnight on our third night. Property manager Quintin never responded to text or call. None of the 5 flashlights in the house worked and no instructions were available to turn generator on.
5.0 / 5.0
The cabin was just as expected and very well appointed. It had everything we needed and was in a beautiful setting along the river.
4.0 / 5.0
The cabin setting on the river was magic.
The beds comfortable.
The amenities very nice.
The property management company leaves something to be desired, they are a national company with thousands of listings, and very little human personal touch/property monitoring. All messages you get from them are template, or automatic texts, if you need a human to help good luck. They do not meet you at the property it is self check in and check out, and if there is a problem same day service isn't going to happen. I reported a couple items that required maintenance and the guy called me after we checked out about the problems. We would gladly stay in this property again, but if I was the owner I would discontinue VACASA management of their property.

We really liked this cabin. We loved sitting on the deck drinking our coffee in the morning right next to the river. The BBQ was great, and the hot tub was really nice and was big enough for our whole family to sit in. We also liked using the fireplace in the evening, it really warmed up the place.
I’m so glad it was daylight when we arrived because we got lost at first trying to find the place, but once we found it then we were good.
We really had such a nice time.

Loved this place so much! Steps away from the river! We will be back!
5.0 / 5.0
The location was wonderful, adjacent to the Salmon River, and with easy access to Mount Hood and other nearby attractions. Nothing better than hearing the sound of the river. Hot tub was clean and worked great, and house was in good shape. Washer-dryer and grill worked well, and the house was otherwise well-appointed. SUPER-fast internet, too, better than what we have at home. On the negative side, the downstairs (main) bedroom bed sagged badly in the middle, and needs to be replaced, and the cleaning crew could have done a better job, but these are far outweighed by the positive. Would absolutely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at this rustic cabin. The neighborhood is quiet and We loved our river spot!

The only way to be closer to the river would be to wade in! Comfortable cabin, roaring fire, raging river, what more can you ask for? Met my expectations.
5.0 / 5.0
Stayed here with my Dad and Brothers for a long weekend. The cabin was spacious and very cool - we liked the layout and space (it is a cabin so it has character and history to it - that's what makes it charming). The deck and view of the creek was spectacular. We had a really good time and great stay - definitely will book this accommodation again!
3.0 / 5.0
Good location close to Mt Hood Resorts, but home fell short on expectations
Pros:
Location, warm water, working appliances, clean kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and Pet Friendly.
Cons:
Hot tub was filthy (water smelled, slime, green and when jets were run it circulated green dirty water) and unusable. HEAT - fireplace was awesome, but the provided wood was wet. We had to purchase our own for an additional $40. There is one other propane heater and another wall unit downstairs. Other than that, the portable heaters helped keep the place warm. Overall the place was dusty/dirty. It is in the woods, but if I was paying a management company I'd hope they dusted as outside of basics the home was dirty. The place was very difficult to find as the signs weren't marked for night entry. It took us more than 30 minutes to find the left fork needed to get down to the river cabin. It would be nice to have a brief description on how to find the home sent along with access information.
We will not recommend or will not stay here again at the current price-point.

Lovely cabin nestled in a winter wonderland
The location is spectacular! On a river, deep in the woods. Rustic and cozy, with everything we needed. As with all rentals, it had its quirks. Bare bones heating isn’t for everyone, and both the water and electricity kept tripping the breaker. The gas stove doesn’t heat above low, so cooking took extra long. Other than the little quirks, we loved this place!!!! Great hot tub, amazing deck, would love to come back in the summer to spend more time outside.

Wonderful Cabin
This cabin is fantastic, the location is great, the kitchen is supplied with all the essentials and a few other extras! Plenty of room and beds are super comfy and cozy. The fireplace is tremendous as was the wood supply but when it is the main source of heat other than the space heaters it is much needed or it was for us considering we had cold weather and snow during our Christmas stay! But of course the hot tub was a great way to beat the winter chill as well! Can't even begin express the beautifulness of the river which is basically in the backyard! Highly recommend and we're hoping to visit again during the summer! Thank you for sharing such a lovely home away from home!!
