Our family of 15 (three generations!) were so pleased to find The Mooring! Finding homes big enough for all of us to be comfortable in for a week is challenging but this home checked all the boxes. It's really a treat to be able to enjoy a seaside cottage that has been in the same family for over 100 years. That sense of history gives The Mooring a very homey and comfortable feel - creaky floorboards and all! Coupled with the charm of a building that is over 100 years old and the lovely antique furniture and furnishings and you have the recipe for a truly unique Maine getaway. And the setting is hard to beat! Our first three days were cold and rainy but the large brick fireplace provided the perfect distraction. The quaint village where the house is located is cozy and charming while still maintaining authenticity. We hiked the walking trails, played tennis and pickle ball at the courts and had pingpong tournaments in the community room behind the post office. Our last night there we drove the 5 minute drive to East Boothbay and had dinner at the newly re-built Lobstermen's Wharf - which was excellent! The Mooring was the perfect basecamp for our large extended family. And if you have an appreciation for historic buildings and cozy cottages, it may be the perfect place for you and your family as well. Highly recommend!

This historic house is an absolute gem to enjoy. It’s brimming with character from the large wrap around deck facing the bay to the creaky wooden floors. It’s easy to see and feel the warmth and memories this house carries in each and every room. We had a group of 14 comfortably enjoy this home for a week. We cooked, we played games, we laughed and we spent hours of our each day on the deck talking and gazing at the salty water hitting the shore. The bay water is much warmer than the Atlantic waters so we also enjoyed time in the water. We had a few small hiccups, as to be expected with a house approaching 100 years old. Despite a few minor inconveniences we would not have traded this house for any other. You can feel the history and the stories this house shares with each guest. The hosts were accommodating, quick to respond and pleasant. We would highly recommend a visit to The Mooring House.

The perfect setting and location for a large group. Every few years we try to get all the kids and grandkids together. It is not easy to find the right place but this was it. Beautiful, quiet, plenty of room and bathrooms and so close to the grocery store and town and yet you would not know they existed. Swimming and kayaking off the dock was wonderful. The dinning room table held us all and a table full of food. Wonderful memories were made here.

Lovely trip down memory lane for me having spent the first 20 years of my life Vacationing in a house close by. Owners were super great at sharing a piece of heaven with us. House was beautiful, loved the character and the history. It was an honor to stay there. Location is awesome. Right on the ocean with lovely views. Enjoyed swimming from the dock, crabbing and fishing. Enjoyed watching the Osprey, played some tennis and found the small post office just darling. Perfect location for checking out east Boothbay, ocean point, Murray hill, Boothbay Harbor, Damiscotia and Pemaquid light house in South Bristol. Enjoyed many lovely seafood dinners and checking out all the shops in Boothbay Harbor. Went to cabbage Island for a clambake which was spectacular. Also went to the botanical gardens which were awesome. The house is lovely with such a well equipped kitchen. Ample space with plenty of bathrooms! Just lovely accommodations. We enjoyed the nice selection of board games. My son and his girlfriend law classes had started so working remotely was a necessity. They set up in the living room utilizing the two desks there and were able to take their classes all week so the Wi-Fi came in handy! What a view! In between classes of course they got to go swimming etc. Anyway, I would highly recommend this property, all my communications with the owner were very positive and they did evened offered me a future week if we had to cancel due to Covid. That was much appreciated. Although some members of my family weren’t able to come due to Covid concerns. We had a blast. We even arrived to a fresh bouquet of flowers, and a basket that had hand sanitizer masks and gloves in it for our use. Very thoughtful. We certainly hope we get the chance to come back next year

The house was a wonderful place to stay with a larger group. There were 9 of us and 2 dogs and you could easily have had more people. The highlights of the house are: the deck, the family room, the kitchen (which looks at first glance like it might not work out, but is actually awesome) and the dining table that easily seats 10. oh, and the odd/marvelous semi-outdoor shower in the basement. oh, yeah, and the ocean right on your doorstep the bedrooms in the house are pretty basic, but the beds are comfortable, the linens were clean, the house has lots of windows and catches the breeze. we had a couple of hours one really hot day where it got a little hot in the house, but overall it was very, very comfortable. the only major downside to the house was that there was an infestation of bats in the attic, two of which got into the house. the owners were responsive in getting someone out to look at the issue, but until this is fixed (which I imagine it will be very shortly) I would not stay here.

Our large family (ages 10-adult) had a fabulous time staying at The Mooring. It was quintessential, coastal Maine and just what we wanted. The water views were spectacular from the expansive porch, the sleeping options abundant for our large party, and the community of Bayville perfect for a quiet, family setting to escape from our daily grind. This home was clearly well tended to and loved and we couldn't help but imagine all the history it contained. and witnessed. The owners personally met or exceeded our expectations with communication and equipping the home with all that made our stay comfortable and wonderful!
