I don’t want to publish review, but I really think the owners should let people know that two of thee bedrooms are in the basement and one has no windows. Also a big issue is the firing range next door. Gunshots every day and a poor dead bird on deck. Afraid to go outside!!!

This house was the perfect get away house for out family! The place was clean and the kitchen well stocked! We had wonderful large family dinners and enjoyed heading into town for meals and fun too. We had the best hikes with are wonderful dog that we got to include, it was a very special week. Great location and the most peaceful and amazing views from the deck and the dock. Would stay here again for sure! Thank you for sharing your home.

If you really and I mean really like a get-away spot that has a musty smell, mold, cobwebs and a roof that leaks then this is the place for you. The pictures do not accurately reflect the home or the lake. The home is dark, the bath tubs are filthy. The place was booked for 6 adults and we were provided towels for four. There were no kitchen towels. The path to the dock appears to be dangerous and the dock is not sturdy. The lake is over grown and stagnant.
4.0
The house was very dirty and unsafe. The electrical outlets are over taxed. The back screen door doesn’t close all the way so the bugs get in. There is a hole in the front screen door as well so it was hard to ventilate the house. The house smells damp and is covered up with air fresheners. The wall behind the fireplace leaks when it rains and so does the bathroom wall. They said it was small drips, but this was puddles. The glasses were dirty and had to be washed. Cobwebs everywhere. Outdoor table and chairs were dirty and rusty with holes in the metal trim. I can’t even get into the condition of the dock and steps leading down to it. . Life preservers we’re all moldy so we didn’t want to use them. We are pretty easy going and I thought the past renters were over exaggerating, but unfortunately they were not. We didn’t bother calling the housekeeper back because we didn’t want to lose a day of our vacation for someone to properly clean the house. I understand construction type work takes time to schedule, but cleaning the house should be very straight forward especially since there have been so many complaints about it being dirty. The only positive things I can say is that the location is great and there was plenty of sundries if you forgot something.

Beautiful spot! Older but we’ll maintained property. Ideal for a three family get together for a relaxing vacation.

The listing pictures are very misleading. This house is in a beautiful spot, but the house itself is in really rough shape. It rained while we were there and water was running down the walls and ceiling. There is severe water damage everywhere because of this. On top of that there is black mold throughout the house and we had to cut our stay short because of the air quality. The back deck is on the brink of collapse and the dock was underwater and rotting. Some of the doors and windows wouldn’t seal so we also had a bug issue. Additionally there were some soft spots in the floor (probably from water damage) where someone heavy enough could easily break through.
We planned this weekend 8 months in advance and our trip was ruined by the condition of this house.
I would not recommend renting this house.

Enjoyed a few days “glamping” with my son and husband. The pond was beautiful and a great fishing spot. The owner was very responsive.

I stayed with a group of friends for a weekend while we skied nearby Ski Butternut mountain. The home was exactly as described and we had a very nice stay. It was warm upon entry (important after a day of skiing) and had everything we needed. The location, both on the pond and close to everything in Great Barrington, was great.

Beautiful setting, cool kind of old school rustic feel. Perfect for 6 guys away fishing for a nice break. I would bring the family here as well. Just don't expect modern, perfct interior. For the price, can't beat it! Easy of the highway location. The pictures and description were definitely accurate. Hope to go back soon!

Extremely dirty and dangerous. Booked it for a week to spend doing lake activities at end of summer. Dock is sinking, dock furniture rotted, stairs to water need new railing. Inside house was so dirty. Cobwebs. Musty smell in all rooms. Stained showers. Washer was broken with standing water in it with no notice ahead of time. We left after 18 hours when we booked 5 days. Wasted our one family get away for the summer! Filed grievance and property management company was easy to work with and after seeing the pictures and video they requested gave me immediate refund before we even left the property. However, we are still out hundreds on the VRBO service fee. After filing insurance claim with VRBO I still have not heard back for 3 months. All around this has been so bad it will be a long time before i consider using a rental like this.

Booked this as a weekend trip for my friends from college and I, the perfect meeting point from NYC and Boston. This house was clean and cozy and close to all the places we wanted to go in the Berkshires. Beautiful view with a quaint cabin vibe to escape city life. Hosts were so great and thoughtful, thank you for having us!

This property was a great size for our group of 8, plus two little ones. The kitchen was stocked with all appliances and utensils we needed, and there was plenty of seating for lounging and eating meals together. The large deck and fire pit were also great spaces for the whole group to gather.
The bathrooms were a little bit dated, but the host provided a wonderful variety of toiletries and soap products!
We really enjoyed this quiet location; we were close to hiking trails, breweries, grocery stores, and small bakeries/ coffee shops.
We had a very nice stay!

We absolutely love this property, it is incredible the views are beautiful. It. Was a perfect size and so tranquil. The only thing I would say that needs to be done is the railing near the dock needs to be fixed as it is loose, and the dock itself could use some upgrading seeing how it is old and has some parts curved in. Otherwise this whole place is amazing and incredible. We loved it here, and enjoyed the peacefulness.

We had a nice stay at this property, we enjoyed swimming at the lake, I would advise people to bring inflatables to the lake as is deep. Beds were nice and confy.

Great fishing and great location but house is falling apart.

Peaceful surroundings
The house is spacious. Beds comfortable, sheets and towels soft. I've never been to a rental with so many amenities. Bathrooms and kitchen well stocked. We spent almost all our time on the huge deck and around the fire pit.
I do think older people and small children would have difficulty with all of the stairs inside and the steps to the dock. Some wood could be replaced, but it didn't impact our stay.
We enjoyed the property so much we never went into town. Perhaps next time.

Weekend getaway
This property fit our needs perfectly. Plenty of space and bedrooms for all of us. We stayed warm and dry even during a blizzard. The heat and hot water had no issues. Good communication with property management. We would consider staying here again.

Nice Cabin, But really needs to be cleaned.
Booked for a weekend with a group of 6, The place was really nice for a cabin, but as stated in past reviews this place is dirty. Prior to my trip I contacted the host to make sure the unit was cleaned, and was reassured that a cleaning service was used after every booking. But as soon as I arrived I can see trash left in the unit (cigar button and wrappers) and noticed a really harsh smell which turned out to be a dead mouse. Cleaned up the mess, but if I'm being charged a high cleaning fee the unit should be properly serviced before my stay. Didn't have any electrical issues. And the max temp on the thermostat was 72 but there's plenty of firewood. Kitchen was stocked nicely but after noticing signs of more mice we decided to just pick up anything we needed. Overall nice place but could use some touching up and a exterminator.

Watch out for the pictures they show
What a great location! Does the house need a little help yes it does they need to work on the electricity I was just scared it could catch on fire the appliances are old and we cooked hard every day breakfast lunch and dinner

Should not be listed as a rental property
Nothing positive to say about this property. We could not even unlock the main front door as the handle was about to fall out. We ended up going through the basement door every day. The place was dirty. By this I mean, stained showers, toilets which barely flushed, we had pet hair between the sheets of one bed, the basement ceiling tiles are water stained, one bedroom smelled moldy and the windows were filthy with dead bugs and cob webs. The electrical was scary with extension cords and I couldn’t dry my hair without popping a circuit breaker. This property should be pulled from any rental site until it gets a major renovation. The nightly rental amount is way overpriced. We left a day early as we couldn’t stand being there anymore.

Not clean
The place is so dirty. And everything is very old and dark.

House needs deep cleaning and safety maintenance.
This rental house was generally comfortable, with plenty of space and great views of the pond. However, there were many areas of huge cobwebs and dust throughout the house, including windowsills and corners, and hovering on beams and walls above the dining table and elsewhere. The kitchen and eating surfaces were OK, as were the rugs and bathrooms, but there were cobwebs everywhere. We were also very concerned about the questionable safety of steps leading to the dock and the dock itself, which seems to be sinking in the center and falling apart. Finally and most important, electrical tape was holding together a bedside light fixture in the loft, and a frightening burning smell was discovered when the light was turned on. This could be a very nice house, but it really needs a thorough deep cleaning and some major repairs. I have photos of some of these problems if needed.

We had a fantastic stay in Great Barrington. The house is a short drive from downtown, which is worth the quiet neighborhood and lake-front setting you get in return. Perfect for a family or friends getaway. The kitchen and bathrooms could use a little love; however, we were very pleased to walk into a fully stocked home (from pots/pans, to utensils and cleaning products). Bonus points for leaving a bottle of Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer in each bedroom. One thing to note, the area is very very muddy in the spring. Depending on which way you enter the street you might need need to drive uphill on a dirt road. We arrived on a rainy day and had to put our SUV into 4-wheel drive to get to the house. The home itself is set back on a long dirt path as well. Just sharing as an FYI for those who might drive smaller cars.

Family weekend get-together
The view from this house is absolute perfection and the house itself is adorable, but it is very much in need of some updating and it was really not clean when we arrived. The housekeeping staff left a sweet note and some welcome goodies which was lovely, but I think I might have preferred a cleaner house, to be honest. Again, the setting was great and we were able to let it go, but I wouldn't return.

Perfect getaway for the family
This getaway was exactly what we were looking for in a Berkshires vacation. Spent the weekend at the cabin with our 5 month old and friends. The Cabin is perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. It also has everything you need for cooking, cleaning, sleeping, etc. Took a nice trip around the pond on the boat, but spent more time in front of the heavenly wood stove.

LOVELY CABIN GETAWAY!
My friends and I stayed here this past weekend and it was so LOVELY. Everything you would want in a cozy cabin getaway- beautiful views of winter scenery and a cozy fireplace. In addition, the housekeeper left us some snacks and wine for the stay! The house itself is about 10-15 minutes from the main strip in the nearby town where you could go to restaurants, stores & get everything you need! We had dinner at this place called GB Eats and it was delicious! The trip was exactly what we needed.

Perfect Weekend Get away
We had a wonderful weekend at this little cabin in the woods. It was just the rustic yet conveniently located space we were looking for to the center enjoy a weekend on the slopes. The decor could use updating and a bit of love but all in all it was perfect.

Wonderful Experience!
My brother, my best friend and I decided to visit this area and stay at this wonderful home adjoining avsmall lake close to the quaint towns of Great Barrington and Stockbridge in the Berkshire Mountains. The home was inviting and had all of the comforts one could want. The owners anticipated all of our questions and made us feel welcome. In short, a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone.

Beautiful location and very cozy

Very unpleasant. Literally by 8 pm there were no maintenance or housekeeping present in the hotel, the concierge was unable to resolve the maintenance issue, I had to insist to be transferred to another room.Only two sets of towels for 4 gusts in the room. Stains on the curtains.Lobby is partially patched and painted. No improvements in almost two months

Great for a peaceful family get together
Beautiful location and a house with a lot of character and space. We enjoyed the open space design of the house, the deck and the pond/lake shore and boat. While we rate the house very highly, it is not without a few problems like broken lamps, burned bulbs, and messy windows. As someone else noticed, it could use a little more tlc., Also the boat--which we used and enjoyed--also needs the oarlocks fixed.

Love the Cabin at the Lake
This property layout was perfect for a relaxing stay at the lake. Love the rustic feel of the cabin and the deck overlooking the lake and firepit was super convenient. It had the perfect blend of being spacious with a comfy cozy feel.
6.0
Very Peaceful
We loved the house, but it needs some TLC. To start with, we had one afternoon with torrential down pours and the rain was running down the inside walls by the fireplace. The railings to the deck are not very safe, no support on the ends, I would think twice about leaning on them. The windows do not look like they have been cleaned in years. The walk way down to the dock is very steep and the steps have been overlooked for many years, they need to be replaced. The dock also needs to be worked on. Overall we had a great vacation very peaceful loved that there were no motorboats. Would definitely consider a return visit.

Good no frills house in the woods
My husband, myself and 2 20 year old children stayed here for 4 nights in June. We loved hiking in the area and were gone a good part of the day, mostly ate and slept here. The house was fairly clean inside, not sure if we were the first renters in a while as a lot of cob webs and dirt outside on the decks and windows. Linens and towels provided which is convenient. We had trouble regulating the heat so the bedroom on the first floor was warm while the living room and kitchen were cool. Washer and dryer were nice to have. The kitchen had what we needed but everything but fridge looked at least 20 years old. Mishmash of plates and utensils but made due. The coffee pot took over a half hour to make 5 cups of coffee so start it as soon as you get up! The grill was a Weber and great to have on the deck. We enjoyed having the firepit and used it every night! Loved that it was right on a lake. The row boat worked but had some issues trying to row as where the oars go the pins are broken but we used it and made it work the best we could. We were able to bring our dog for a fee and that was a big reason we rented this property. Just so you know WiFi in the house is good but not in surrounding area so make sure you know where you are going before you leave the house. We enjoyed the local takeout, found a great ice cream place and got drinks to go from Great Barrington Brewery. Honestly we were totally under whelmed when we first arrived, but this place total grew on us. The shower downstairs will spray water all over the floor so be careful when you turn it on. Shower and tub need to be replaced but plenty of hot water and because the plumbing is old the water pressure is great!! I understand it is an older house in the woods but if some $ and work were put into this place it could be really great. Listed as “contemporary” furnished but nothing in the house can be less than 15-20 years old. We had a great time being together as a family and really enjoyed staying here, the place worked for us but has so much more potential, especially as a rental property if just shown a little upkeep and love.

Appropriate as a hunting camp
This spot is more appropriate as a hunting camp than a family vacation spot. Very rustic and crude.

Plumbing couldn't hold 10 people
It is a lovely spot.
If you are troubled by gunfire, there is a firing range across the street, so for about 15 minutes a day, there is some loud gunfire.
And it is a small pond. For my family, by the time we got there in July, the water was low and swimming was not that appealing.

Fantastic lake house experience...
In excellent condition given its age and the interior in particular is immaculate and well maintained. The location is amazing, there are no signs of civilization anywhere in sight on the other side of the lake, so you have a sense of real solitude, a rarity considering you are within range of having pizza delivered. We loved it and will look here first for availability when next we travel to the Berkshires.
