Simplicity. For over eighteen years we have been visiting Highlands and honing our definition of the perfect weekend retreat- A simple place with plenty of room for friends and a location close enough to town so the car can stay parked as long as we want. This is the house that made this dream come true. With a fun rustic-modern vibe, the house is a short stroll from Main Street and The Old Edwards Inn and has room for up to ten. Three bedrooms upstairs and a separate sitting area, two bedrooms and a games nook downstairs makes the house ideal for large groups or two families to share. It has an open layout and is ideal for girl's weekends, guy's weekends, dogs-playing poker weekends... It also has a two car garage and a ping pong table. This is the place for your Highlands adventures. Also, if you have a larger family gathering, wedding guests or a big friends' weekend, this house backs up to another house of ours with a convenient walking path in between: VRBO.com/473976

The wifi will let you stay plugged in, the 48' HD flat screen will let you catch the game, and a brand new deck and grill out back invite you to enjoy the beautiful climate at 4118 feet above sea level. Walk to Harris Lake, where you can feed the ducks (or geese, we don't discriminate) or do a little fishing.

We have been coming to Highlands for a few years and this was by far the best location. There was a beautiful pond at the end of the road that you pass to get to town. Seriously couldn’t ask for a better location. The beds were comfortable and our best memories were at the ping pong table in the garage!

Had a great weekend family reunion at Laird’s place! Perfect location for unwinding and escaping Ga heat with kids and grandkids. Younger kids loved catching fish in Harris Lake, only two doors down from property—worms available at gas station. Easy walk to town to lunch or shop was a big plus also! Grilled steaks on large deck—plenty of clean kitchen items and good dishwasher! (Follow rules on bear-proof garbage bins—they’re there for good reason!)
Easy communication with Laird about directions, check-in, etc.—thanks again—will be back!

We rented this property for part of a bridal party. They loved the house especially the game room in the basement. Perfect for a group of young adults and the location to town is great. None of the guests had ever been to Highlands and they loved being able to walk to everything and it was great for the wedding party to get to Old Edwards. Thanks for allowing us to rent would highly recommend.

Perfect place to stay for a family wedding at Old Edwards! We easily walked to Main Street and all the restaurants and shops!! Beds were very comfortable!! My only suggestion is small bottles of shampoo in the bathrooms and small body wash in place of the soap!! Only a suggestion bc the house is perfect!

We stayed here for a long weekend for a wedding and it was perfect! so much room for our whole family of 7 with two living areas - great because a couple of us had to do some work on Friday and needed quiet away from the rest of us.

The property, house and location are really good. Walking distance to town, lots of room in the house and very good neighborhood (Harris “pond” area).
We had a little trouble getting into the house (code didn’t work). I was on the phone for about 2:30 trying to work through VRBO agents - LOTS of on-hold time. Kind of disappointed in owner not being aware of the trouble - assumption made that all would go well. But, super nice and apologetic for the inconvenience, even offering free night stay and “dinner on her.” Could not have asked for more from her. Bless her!

This was our third (maybe fourth?) time staying in this house, and it won’t be the last! The location is fantastic - tucked away but with easy access to town, all within walking distance. Plenty of space and privacy for two families. Owner was very responsive and helpful when we had a minor hiccup at check-in. We can’t wait to return!

The back yard was great, very scenic. Sitting on the deck at the big house was just beautiful. ( of course we were blessed with great weather. Clear instructions for staying, checkin and checkout were helpful. We would stay again…. maybe bring the grandkids.
