STUNNING RURAL LOCATION CLOSE TO MANSFIELD
Austracantha Cottage is set on 8.5 acres of natural bush-land, with spectacular views overlooking the township of Mansfield, the Paps, and a sneak peak of Mt Buller and Lake Eildon. Only a short 10-minute drive from Mansfield township, 20-minute drive to lake Eildon/Bonnie Doon or Howes Creek boat ramp, 20-minutes from Powers Lookout and 30-minute drive to Mount Buller gate entry.
The cedar cottage is tucked away towards the rear of property providing a very private and secluded place to unwind and relax. Wake up to find yourself immersed in wildlife including Kangaroos, Echidnas, Wallabies and a huge variety of native bird life. This is a perfect property for water and snow skiers, fishing, bush walkers or families wanting some time away to relax or enjoy the snow and water activities in the surrounding areas. You will have the entire property to yourself during your stay.
The cottage has been fully renovated inside and out, including a modern kitchen, bathroom, hide away laundry (no washing machine/dryer), freshly painted throughout and furnished with all the comforts of home.
Austracantha cottage can only accommodate up to 6 guests (including children) and is suitable for couples, small groups or families. There are 3 bedrooms, indoor and outdoor dining area that can seat up to 6 people and the lounge has 2 comfortable couches positioned in front of an enormous Coonara wood fire for those cold winter nights.
The interior of the property is very clean and extremely well presented throughout. You will not be disappointed.
Set on 8.5 acres there is plenty of room to roam and explore. Outside a new hardwood decking and railing wraps around the property, and there is a large under cover BBQ entertaining area. A seated fire pit area can be used on cooler nights to toast your marshmallows under the stars. Kids can be keep entertained outdoors with plenty of activities including our hopscotch and outdoor checker board.
4G Mobile phone reception can be received whilst on the property (no internet or Wi-Fi).

Cleared areas for kids to play cricket, soccer, football, totem tennis, hopscotch and checkers. Rear yard is fenced (not secured due to the local wombat constantly digging under it). There is plenty of parking on the property.

My fiancé and I had a wonderful weekend getaway at the Austracantha Cottage with our little dog. Lovely secluded cottage with beautiful views. The cottage was clean and well appointed, and felt like a home away from home. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back

This is such a great place. Stunning property, great views, immaculately clean, very comfortable, has everything you need, heaps of activities including an amazing fire pit. Only slight downside is there is a loud whirring noise (the hot water system maybe?) that sounds almost like a generator every 5 minutes or so right outside the rear bedroom. Would definitely stay here again, ideally in the front rooms only.

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. The setting was peaceful, quiet and tranquil. Our little dog loved the enclosed back area (though we always supervised her in case she found a way out). The fireplace was a welcomed way to relax and some of the family enjoyed hitting the ski slopes. The beds were very comfortable and it had all the amenities needed to cook dinner.

Being familiar with the area I knew exactly what to do.
First enjoy the easy drive from Melbourne. We stopped at Yea for bakery lunch, enjoyed under the impressive oak trees at the Showgrounds. Dogs also enjoyed stretching their legs.

Located in a beautiful bush setting, good communication, easy check in. Nicely laid out cottage with lots of games and activities didn't really miss the wifi.
Decided against using bbq, not in best state. Cottage could benefit from a dishwasher just as a suggestion.

Austracantha Cottage was a wonderful spot for a weekend getaway!
The property has a wonderful view of down the valley. At night time, you can light the fire for some mashmellows and star gaze at the Milky Way.
There is also a nice big backyard for furry friends - our dogs love all the new scents.
For the sunny days there are outdoor games to be played and for the colder nights, a wide variety of board games.
Would recommend highly recommend staying !

We've been to a few pet friendly hotels as we don't holiday without our 4 legged family members. Coming from our own country life but wanted a change of scenery. Really loved the location, and gosh, was so impressed with the cleanliness of this cute cottage. Has all the amenities you need (except washing machine and dryer) but the coziness and layout provided everything we needed and gave a sense of homeliness.
The rear yard is huge and is well fenced off if you have a large fido. However, Mr. Wombat appears to enjoy visiting also which may provide an escape route for the smaller fido variety! Plenty of outdoor seating and games to keep you entertained. The ambience of the surrounding bush and its natural wildlife inhabitants that like to visit in the mornings provide a serene and relaxing getaway. Wished we could've stayed longer! Kudos to the hosts for providing such a lovely place for those wishing to get away with their furry pals

We had a fabulous week at Austracantha Cottage. The outside space is what makes this property truly unique with so many different places to sit and read or drink wine or play games... perfect for the family or if you just want to get away from it all. We loved watching the kangaroos from the verandah and also spotted deer, hares and a fox. Inside the property is tasteful and comfortable and we really didnt want to leave! Can definitely recommend. We will be back!

We loved coming back to this cosy cottage. It is so tastefully directed and has all you need for a comfortable stay. The bathroom heater and heated towel rack are excellent. The cottage is gorgeous and situated in a quiet location.
Want to toast some marshmallows over the fire outside? There's some tools to put the marshmallows on!
Want to play some games outdoors? There's heaps of games supplied. Some made the inner children in the four of us come out like the totem tennis!
Want to play some games indoors or do some logic puzzles? Those are supplied too.
Want to watch some movies? Also heaps of those!
Want to cook a nice meal? Plenty of utensils and crockery to do the job.
I could go on and on about how well equipped and clean and tidy this cottage is, but I don't want to give away all the gems of this place!
Even the check in process is so simple, and the communication from Paul and Leanne is impeccable.
My sister, two friends and I adored this cottage and definitely recommend it to others, especially if you're wanting to go to Mount Buller.
I plan to visit again in the warmer months and definitely next winter as we loved our snow trip and would be more than happy to stay at Austracantha Cottage again!

What a fantastic place to stay! This is a well appointed cottage in a quiet location with great views. Everything we needed was already thought of and the beds were soft and comfy. Loved all the available games and the firepit was an awesome place to spend a chilly autumn night with a wine and good company.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay Austracantha Cottage, in stunning surrounds and amazing views. The cottage has been styled with amazing flair and gorgeous decor. It's really well appointed and very comfortable - everything was just perfect including the marvelous sunsets and so many stars in the night sky made us feel as though we really had a proper holiday.
There is an amazing amount of walks, activities and games for kids and adults with a warm fire for cooler autumn nights - had fun spotting kangaroos, deer and parrots on the veranda; we are already planning our next trip back.
Located within an easy drive to everything, we spent time in Mansfield, hiked Mt Stirling and wandered through Jamison. Enjoyed the local coffee roasters in town and breweries/wineries too.

So many toys, games,dvds, outdoor seating and a fully stocked with equipment kitchen
Our bed was so soft and the pillows were amazingly soft
There was my husband(55), my daughter (20), myself(56), my mum (76) and dad (82)
The only criticism my dad had was there was nowhere to hang clothes
If looking for a feed out while staying would highly recommend the noodle box in high street have placed new menu in info folder at house

Austracantha is a beautiful property set up on a hill with breathtaking views across the valley and mountain ranges. It is a fairly quick drive from the fabulous town Mansfield. The house is very clean and perfectly appointed with a modern kitchen and bathroom. It has a cosy, warm and welcoming feel. The property has lots of great activities for adults and kids. We loved playing with the outdoor games and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. Sitting on the large wrap around deck having a drink was also a highlight.
Communication with the hosts was excellent with very clear check in instructions. Worth checking out the Tolmie Tavern for dinner one night for a true Aussie experience.

We had such a fantastic stay - just too short! Beautiful clean and comfortable cottage about 10-15 mins out of Mansfield. Excellent fully fenced and expansive outdoor space for our puppy to roam. Great sunsets and starry skies away from the noise. We will look forward to returning.

Everything was perfect fir our stay. Need more days to explore more of the surrounding. The house was wonderful with all the roos and birds.
Please note: the Toilet was very smelly, maybe because it haven’t been used for a long time. Just kept the window open and it was ok.
Apart from that had a wonderful weekend.
