About this apartment rental
This charming, clean, and nonsmoking older home's interior was newly renovated in 2014. Located on a side street in a quiet neighborhood in downtown Bar Harbor with off-street parking for one vehicle. It has an open floor plan & hard wood floors throughout. All new appliances. There are 2 bedrooms - 1 with a queen, - 1 with a single twin bed and pull out trundle (max 100 lb), plus a queen sleeper sofa in living room. A port-a-crib is available.
The walls are hung with original paintings of Mount Desert Island, and Acadia National Park. Full laundry, wi-fi, cable tv, and a pleasant garden and yard completes the package. While the apartment sleeps 5, ideally this home is best suited for a family - 2 parents with young children, or 2 or 3 adults. The trundle bed is not to be used by anyone weighing more than 110 lbs.
We are situated in the southeastern end of town, and are a 2 blocks to The Village Green, and the Island Explorer bus hub (runs from Jun-Oct) , Mount Desert Island Hospital, The Abbe Museum, Jesup Memorial Library, St. Saviour's Church and its' Tiffany stained glass windows, Reel Pizza, and all the shops and restaurants. Town Pier, Agamont Park, Albert Meadow, the YMCA, Compass Harbor, the Jackson Lab, and the majestic views of the Porcupine Islands and the Historic Shore Path are all within a 5 min walk.
We are also within walking distance to the Village Connector trails into Acadia. Compass Harbor and the ruins of George Dorr's family home are just a few blocks south. The Schooner Head Path is accessed off the Compass Harbor Trail. The Great Meadow Loop is accessed off Cromwell Harbor Road, just north of the ball fields. It connects to Jesup Path, Dorr Mountain, Homans Path, The Great Meadow Trail, Kebo Connector Trails, and much more.
For winter visitors - Acadia National Park is a winter wonder-land! Hiking (crampons a must), XC Skiing on groomed trails in the park, snow-shoeing, skating, ice-fishing, & sledding are all in the mix. BUT PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR VERY RUGGED, ICY CONDITIONS IF HIKING ON ICE AND TO ANY ELEVATION!!! CRAMPONS AND ICE GEAR A MUST! Winter night skies are hypnotizing. We have the darkest skies east of the Mississippi. If you are interested in astronomy and star-gazing - ANP is your place! MDI & ANP are under appreciated in winter! Do yourself a favor and come to this magical frozen place!

We had a truly wonderful stay. Everything about the house was exactly as described and perfect for my husband and I and our 4 month old baby. There was even a pack n’ play with bassinet and an infant toddler bath tub. The location could not be beat, easily walked to everything in town and a short drive to Acadia. We would definitely stay again.

My husband, 14 year old son, and I stayed here on a recent trip to Bar Harbor. We loved being able to walk to restaurants and the downtown area. The unit itself was perfect for a family our size. There's a washer/dryer, which was a huge bonus. The owner was very easy to communicate with. I'd definitely stay here again!

We had a great time at Susan's lovely house! The location is superb, we were within walking distance of any restaurant and point of interest in Bar Harbor. It's also a short drive to the Acadia park where we spent most of our time. The house is very comfortable and we had everything we needed for our stay. Would absolutely come back!

The property was cozy, clean and just as described :) However, the kitchen was totally undersold - recently upgraded and perfectly appointed! Lovely!! We could not have asked for a better location. Having a parking spot made a world of difference.Susan was easy and quick to communicate with. In short - just book it.

We loved the 1st apartment. It was peaceful and homey. It was just steps from Main Street where there were so many restaurants, shops, history and beautiful views. It was also a short drive from Acadia where we hiked and biked. Great spot for a lovely vacation. We are looking forward to visiting again.

Family had a great time using this as our home base while we explored the area! Loved being able to easily walk into town yet still be on a quiet side street. Host was attentive and helpful

Our family of five loved this house; by far our best VRBO experience. The home was perfect for our family. We have two teens and a pre-teen and it worked for them and us. The home is pristine and open and has everything you need. As for the host, Susan could not have been more kind or helpful or willing to provide guidance on Bar Harbor. And as for the location… good luck finding a better spot. We were STEPS away from where the center of town started: as in, walk out the door, make a left and walk the length of two houses, make a left and the intersection and - BOOM - you’re where Bar Harbor’s restaurants and shops start. For us it was great because on two occasions our kids wanted ice cream at night and we just said “we will stay in, just be back in an hour.” That’s how great the location is. We will be back to Bar Harbor… we just hope Susan isn’t booked that week.

The house is very well equipped , great stocked kitchen and many creature comforts of a home. The LOCATION is perfect being SO close to Main St and walking distance to many stores , restaurants , bike/kayak rental places.
It’s too bad the Shore Path is currently under repair as we found out upon walking to it from the house as it’s so close . Any chance to add a few chairs to sit outside in the yard?
Love the flowers on the front porch!!
I would be happy to stay here again!!

Our VRBO property was clean, charming and truly felt like home away from home. We and our granddaughter felt like it was the special touch that finished off her graduation present trip in Maine.

I stayed 3 nights in October. This property is very comfortably furnished and well-equipped for an extended stay. The place was spotless when I arrived and everything worked. The property manager was accessible and helpful. Despite it's close proximity to a busy downtown Bar Harbor, the house itself is on a very quiet side street. Highly recommended.

Half a block from the nearest restaurant, you are in town at this location. All the amenities you would want for a place to stay. My daughter described one couch as the most comfortable she’s ever sat in. A full kitchen to prepare any food you want although we are out.

This apartment was so lovely and well equipped for our long weekend away. The games helped us pass the time during the rainy weather and the location is walkable to everything in downtown Bar Harbor. We would love to stay again - so grateful for our time there! She even had some very cute children’s books that our daughter loved at bedtime.

Susan’s property is very welcoming, clean, well-stocked, and the perfect location to downtown Bar Harbor. We could walk just about anywhere we needed to in town: grocery store, restaurants, shopping, shore path, etc., which was great since traffic downtown could be challenging. Acadia National Park was just a short drive away. The kitchen is stocked with great cookware and we felt at home in the space. We’re we’re all adults, but a family with children would be just as comfortable here too! There is no cleaning fee charged if you leave the place as you found it, which is a simple request and easy to follow through on.

Susan’s house is spacious, clean, and located on a quiet street within steps of Main Street. It is an easy walk to stores, restaurants, the pier and other places in Bar Harbor Village. An entrance to Acadia National Park is about a 10-minute drive or less. Susan is kind and attentive, and we enjoyed our stay at her house.

This adorable little home was just a few steps from all the restaurants and shops and only a 10 minute drive into the park. It was wonderful to be immersed in great natural beauty during the day and to experience comfort and convenience at night.

Good times. Instructions for rhe tv/ remote would have been helpful. Also place to sit in the yard

This property includes the first floor of a partially renovated house. The owner or manager lives on the second floor and is a nice combo of helpful and non-intrusive.
The kitchen, bathroom, and laundry rooms are nicely updated with just about everything we needed. Though we were afraid to put anything on the butcher block counters because they are so beautiful but seem like a stray glass ring might ruin them. The beds were comfortable and we slept hard each night.
The best part is that the house is just a block off the main road through downtown Bar Harbor and the cute little town is easily walkable for boat tours, restaurants, and shopping. We avoided the headaches and costs of parking with our parking spot at the house.
The house is also nestled between two entrances to the Acadia National Park. We took 3 days going through the park with highlights of Cadillac Mountain, swimming for the cold water lovers at Sand Beach, and exploring the many gorgeous hikes. We did a fishing excursion in Frenchman Bay and a sailing trip out of Bass Harbor. We all had a fabulous time from the comfort of this cozy home. That is no small feat for a family of four with a teen and a tween.
We would definitely stay here again!
